  • The Whiskey Crusaders review Crown Royal Single Malt Canadian Whisky Review which comes in at 90 proof. It is made at the Valleyfield distillery and this is the first single malt Crown Royal has ever created which is on an island in the St. Lawerence River West of Montreal. This is usually a distillery where 100% corn bases whiskies are made for Crown Royal, Seagram’s VO, Order of Merit, Seagram’s 83, Five Star, Schenley’s, several others and used to be Gibson’s Finest 12 year was made their 2008 when it switched to Hiram Walker in Windsor. It is made with 100% barley up in the cold Canadian climate which of course are slower being that its in Canada which is similar to Scotland’s weather there. The silver bag and box are to represent fractured ice cold of Canada where it ages.

I bought this as soon as it came out, being a CR fan in general.
At first crack my expectations were that it would be more similar to Scotch or Irish whiskey.
    That left me slightly disappointed.
However, I’ve gone back to it a couple of times over the past few weeks and the uniqueness on the palate, combined with the classic CR nose and smoothness, has changed my perspective.
I now really appreciate it for what it is, a CR & Canadian spin on single malt, not something to be compared to single malts from other countries.
    Everyone should try it. Cheers!

@@danielguerzon9871 I completely agree nothing like the rest of the world. A very different and Canadian single malt that everyone should certainly try. Cheers

pretty loyal to CR as Gimli is our old stomping ground. happy with the singlemalt, and will keep it stocked in the cabinet, disappointed however in the lack of information on it as to its makeup and process. Distillers notes please CR

Interesting review. With this being $90 in Ontario I was ready to give this release a pass. Thinking of picking it up now, thanks.

Yes it is twice the price of regular Crown Royal but it's pretty good whisky and something very different and interesting. I really enjoy it. If you pick one up let us know your thoughts on it. Cheers

    Thanks for the great review.
As for the, ''Crafted in the Canadian cold", Washington, Montana, North Dakota & half of Minnesota are higher north than Valleyfield! It’s funny how marketing works. 😂 We just had a week of heat waves that were quite intense, & it’s only June.
It’s just sad that a product made in Québec (Valleyfield) isn’t available here. I had to get mine in Ontario. 🥲
    Keep on tasting. 😎

That is a great point and yes solid marketing. That does blow on the heat and that you cannot get where it is made. Glad you were able to at least get one in Ontario. Cheers.

Yes we like to cover the history and how its made prior to reviewing the product but you are always free to skip that part and just watch the nosing and tasting notes on it. Have you tried the CR single malt yet? Cheers
