The first single malt release from Crown Royal this Valleyfield malt present light floral aromas with emerging cinnamon. On the palate, tropical fruit with banana, dragonfruit and pineapple. The malt sits back and lets the fruit take over with a cinnamon gum finish. At 90 proof I was most surprised by how much flavor this whiskey packed in for a Crown Release. I saw this in the LCBO. I am skeptical about anything coming out of Crown. At least it isn't going to break the bank. There are a number good single malts coming from out west. Maybe I'll find an LCBO in Toronto that does tastings.

Sure, it’s full bodied barley and fruity but alas, I suspect it’s missing the less than subtle rumble of “creosote railroad tie” beloved by so many Canadians. As Gordon Lightfoot would say, “ . . . drink to the livin’ a toast to the dead!”

Not a fan. If someone is looking for cheap whisky this is it. Go for the Wiser’s 23 y o or some single malt scotch!
