Fair point. Honestly, I've not seen very much of SAO. I've seen the episode with "Merry Christmas..." God... damn that was tense. After that episode, the files I had been watching got corrupted. Video and audio were all kinds of screwy. I need to find another TOR.

Same with the dot hack games. xD Jet Set Radio Future was a unique game, not just in graphics, but gameplay as well. The Japanese put lots of effort into making it, and it turned out really well. With anime-like games, people can do so much more. I only wish America would accept more of their games. ^^
I was initially hesitant on this trilogy after how the original quadralogy went. The original series went downhill after Part 2, so when I was largely indifferent to Part 1 and most of the characters I was demotivated on finishing it. Thankfully G.U was the exact opposite and Part 3 is a very beloved game for myself now I do hope Last Recode will encourage Namco to give it another shot. So much of the flavor text and lore held up shockingly well in the current internet climate and would be well received by veterans of message boards and the current social media age.
I'm not sure if you're just really dedicated to your fandom, or kind of dumb. The World requires an HMD and a gamepad to play, so you wouldn't actually be able to achieve all of those fantastic acts of dexterity that the characters in the actual games/shows can. In SAO however, the Nervgear allows complete control of the movements of one's character, which is better overall. .Hack is antiquated beyond belief.
it dosent have to be anything special. all they have to do is make the root towns lobbies for the playersjust something multiplayer and that the fans would enjoy. the game could have the single player fast paced circle combat and and the arena and etc...point is, namco can make money if they play this out right, but they just dont want to take the chance. they could do it, make the servers like Phantasy star universe and have a few events going on, it could make money.
Too bad this series didn't last longer. It sucks when something this good has to end so soon! I really liked the fighting style, it was so Star Ocean 3 Till the End of Time, the way you could move around freely. Why don't people make games like this? And the animation, why don't people make anime-like games like this? I'm so tired of the constant devotion to graphics, especially when you see these games with all the graphics, but terrible storyline. Skyrim & Mirror's Edge are great though. ^_^
.hack//G.U. is one of the best games and Animes I ever played and watched. I first found out about this series many years ago back when Demo disc were a thing back on the PS2 days. And I enjoyed the series ever since than. Before Sword Art Online SAO there was and still is dot hack// series. The original online game based Anime gaming series.
That's why games like Star Ocean, Tales Series, Xeno series, Mana Series, and even Shin Megami Tensei Persona, and a whole lot others are changed from series to series. To end the repetitive cycle that gets boring throughout. .hack will still continue, but GU will not. Like how .hack//Infection ended with Quarantine. This are always the main idea of RPG games throughout. That's also the reason why people keep hating COD.
Tbh,this game storyline is very good and there is character development from arrogant to a very pleasant person ... I wish more games had good storyline and character development rather than op items
He becomes far less arrogant by the third game, especially about the halfway mar, I believe. That's when he realizes what's really important are the friends he has made, and not just leveling up.
The thing is, when it comes to playing them both, the story shown by the anime/manga/books/games doesn't actually represent the world itself. It's only showing the trials and tribulations of the special few characters involved. Neither game would be as extraordinary as the media involved claims it to be. >.>

Don't think that a longer series will last being good. The longer a series go, the more hate it will receive in the process. From what I meant is, the same story series. It will be thought out as "overrated". A good series no matter how long, will change it's overall storyline and gameplay. For example, FF series. One different story after another, and right now FFXIII has been receiving so much hate since it's extended story series FFXIII-3. A good example of a bad longer series.
And finally to answer the "why don't people make games like this". They still do, there's a whole bunch of them like Square Enix games, Persona and Tales. And no, SE isn't devoted to pure graphics, there's still that anime-like sense to it. If you're asking why you don't see a lot, is because of western games covering them up. Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age and Demon's Souls are a bunch of western games. Go to Japan ones and you'll see how much there are.
All I have to say is that if they made Dark Souls & Demon Souls' online co-op somewhat enjoyable, they can totally revamp things with .Hack Maybe that's a bit of a stretch, though?
I agree, but for some reason... I couldn't help but hate the Xth Form. Don't get me wrong. It looks cool, and very strikingly powerful. But, still.. It didn't fit Haseo. It would have looked cooler if it was some other character... Like if the original Kite came to R:2 to help resolve the situation? But it didn't feel like Haseo while he was in his Xth Form...

You don't need magic to be able to support other players, y'know. That's like saying you need a class that uses swords and shields to have a tanking class. Plus, in the second season of SAO, Alfheim Online had tons of magic, AND the melee and stuff from the original SAO. Anyway, magic doesn't make a good MMO. It might make it better, but it's way more than possible to have a great MMO without magic.

There is a game I've been told about that the dot hack series is based off of, it's called 'Pantasy Star Online' and it's very much like the dot hack games. ^^
they should work on one that lets you play online with friends and lets you customize your character. Maybe something like DC Universe. But will also have a story line mode

Well, that was way back in the PS2's era. With the technology and online capabilities of today's machines, a much more in-depth, enjoyable game could be made much more easily than it could have been back then.

If you guys haven't looked into it yet, a group picked up The World to finish it for virtual reality, last time I saw they passed oculus rift and are trying to fund for a device similar to the one in the show. If they're still dedicated to it then show them your support so we can experience this world firsthand
SAO its a good anime, yet you cant compare the plot with .HACK, the emotions in SAO are basically centered around kirito and 3 other characters, while in .HACK//GU i dont' feel like the world spin around haseo that much, the other characters shine in their moments.
Oh I thought you're comparing the story of .hack// and SAO. If you're saying about the system then I agree that SAO's system is more modern and stable. And if you want to compare .hack//G.U. 's story with SAO...Don't ever do it. :)
Everything about the this series was great. The gameplay was amazing, the landscapes were breathtaking, the music was beautiful, you actually cared for the characters, the story made you cry and jump out of joy! ='D I miss you .hack!

No magic. Big problem there. A lot of people LOVE being Support/Heal or Elemental/DPS Mages in MMOs.
