Hi mrnegronis - These are the Baritone block drums. Our block drums are designed to have less overtone and a much quicker decay than a traditional ply shell snare. That's what makes a Brady block shell snare such a great instrument in the studio. It's got a full, rich, woody sound but doesn't have excessive ring or bleed. You may prefer our ply shell snare drums & kits. Lots of attack, resonance & punch, which may be better suited for your needs. (Search "Brady Jarrah ply" on TH-cam). Enjoy!

Brady makes Great Drums - I played on a rental kit-The toms (Jarrah Ply) were The most Resonating/Explosive Toms I have ever played on and The Bass Drum sounded like a Cannon - (I do own Noble&Cooley and DW Drums as well as other Snares drums)

Stave and block drums are naturally drier and more direct as there is no tension in the wood. If you want a ringy snare, go thin ply or even metal.

Jim's right. From the first tap, I knew the Lemon 8x14" was the best of the bunch here. I recall watching this the day it was released and my thoughts were the same then. I think Kelly also knew how special the 8x14" sounded, and thought she had better say something about the 13" hybrid being "special" as a sales strategy. Of course sound and preference is entirely subjective and personal, but I'm 100% with Jim on this one. Absolutely no contest! The man's snare wins!

I love 13x7 Jarrah Block's, but that 14x8 is the best of this bunch

IMHO Brady's are too dry and they seem to lack headroom. They need more resonant drums in their line. Then they might be worth it. They make them too dead sounding. If I'm gonna spend $1300 for a snare, it better blow away any snare ever built. I have never heard a Brady snare do that. I don't get why people are so Ga Ga over this brand. They might be worth $1300 or $1400 in materials and labor but not in sound. Just my 2 cents.
