I heard that the other story I heard was once the band had gotten together it was winter and they thought they brought in everything so they started recording during a snowstorm. Halfway though the storm they realized they forgot to bring in the drums and had to wait until it started to melt then record the drums!
Listen to the guitar riffs, this was a warm up for hotel California. Which was one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. Love Joe, this man had his own style!
One of the funniest Joe Walsh moments I ever saw was not musical. It was on a HBO special starring Drew Carey that was basically an amped up version of Who's Line Is It Anyway. Joe was doing the music for the show but for the last improv game, they recruited him to play too. The gist was they would start with a topic and then each person would add one line to the story. I think the topic was euthanasia, and they were going down the line, Joe was near the end, and the person before him said something like, "And they found out he died from..." and Joe goes, "Brain worms!" It was so unexpected that the audience just blew up laughing.
He was with the James Gang then solo way before The Eagles. I was shocked he joined a mellow group. He keeps doing his solo stuff even though he remains with The Eagles. Phenomenal guitarist, songwriter, performer, and singer (if you can get used to his voice).
Joe Walsh is one of the greatest guitar players to pick up a pic. I first heard him, or started listening to him, the week I turned 18. I was spending the summer at my cousins house. His father hired me to paint the house. But anyways, my cousins loved Joe Walsh and played him all day and all night. If you watch the lead in to "Hotel California" on their latest tour, "Hell Freezes Over" tour, you can hear him do a solo performance that's out of this world. Thanks for keeping the entertainment going. Loved this one.
Jamel, your audience are true classic rock fans. I'm a huge classic rock fan too. Been a fan since 1979. I'm reading these comments and I am just loving the spectacular knowledge that they alm have. I learned so much about Joe Walsh just by reading every comment. I'm writing this valuable information in my notebook of Classic Rock Facts
This came out a year or two before Joe became an Eagle . He was already a major artist in his own right . A few years later when The Eagles came to town , my friends and I went to the gig just to see Joe . It was many years ago , 1976 I think . From memory he played this song and Turned to Stone and maybe one or two other solo tracks . He was the best musician on the stage that night , that's for sure .
Joe Walsh is my favorite guitarist ever ! Check out Life's Been Good or County Fair . Any Joe song is worth the listen . He was in James Gang's First three studio albums . A true legend . Very witty ! ILBTs
J, Joe Walsh was in the band “James Gang” before joining “The Eagles”! The Eagles do sometimes play some of Joe’s original early stuff! The two favorites from the James Gang era are 1) Funk 49 2) Walk Away Listen to both and you’ll be glad you did!!
Joe Walsh is from Wichita KS - after a devastating tornado in the Wichita and Andover Kansas area in 1990 he gave a benefit concert - It was a Great Concert and a Great thing for him to do!
THAT was Excellent! I don't have words to describe how good JW really is! I read that he learned slide from Duane Allman. Not sure if it's true, but I know that Derrick Trucks is possibly the only person who could outplay Joe on slide...possibly...
The talk box thing actually comes from steel player Peter Drake who used one on the Lawrence Welk show. It disappeared for quite awhile and the first reemergence I'm aware of was with Jeff Beck. It was called a "Magic Bag" as the guts were inside a bag one slung over their shoulder. You can see it in spots in this video th-cam.com/video/TZlFTbvfKPE/w-d-xo.html. Later on in the Walsh/Framton era Bob Heil (who made concert sound systems) realized he could make better ones putting a better speaker in a box on the floor and taping a larger tube to the mic stand. This was also used on the "tell me, tell me" parts of Rufus's Tell Me Something Good.
Joe initially made a name for himself as the driving force of the James Gang. "Funk #49" by them is a must listen. Then he went solo where this is probably the most well known song by him then. He only joined the Eagles later, after they had already made several albums and gotten famous. Great reaction, J!

He's still with the Eagles since 1976 and he's a hired gun on a salary who is on retainer. He has no worries just shows up and plays...drama free
RGC509 he’s played with the Foo Fighters also
Kim Franklin everyone has played with the Foo Fighters lol
@@Meeshrick ...yeah and half of the audience...lol
Joe is amazing - and has lived two lives. He's a humble man now, and thanks the guys he's close to for helping him get clean. As he said, "I only got drunk once....for 20 years". Love Joe!
JOE WALSH, AND "ROCKY MOUNTAIN WAY"... DURING HIS SOLO CAREER. AFTER STARTING WITH THE JAMES GANG... SONGS WORTH REACTING TOO. "THE CONFESSOR"...THE JAMES GANG "WALK AWAY", "FUNK 49". JOINED THE EAGLES DURING THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA DAYS...
Saying Joe Walsh is from The Eagles is like saying Paul McCartney is from Wings.
yes, great point!
Joe Walsh made the Eagles cool. He added that needed touch.
I agree Ben Salem.
Kinda what I thought!
I liked your comment but you cant compare the eagles with wings sorry just no
Careful man, once you start listening to Joe Walsh, there is no turning back. He gets into your veins and you just want more !
Ozzy to Joe Walsh, “We were on tour together?”
Joe ‘ I don’t remember,”
Ozzy ‘ me either.’
Joe ‘ We must have it says so on this poster.’
Ozzy ‘Yeah!’
Hilarious
Joe said in an interview once: " I toured with Ozzy I think. 'Cause I got the posters to prove it."
Is it “me either” or “me neither”?
@@vikingbaguettebratwurst8619 Don't be a dick
HeardJoe say “the stories are true. Not that I remember, but I’ve read the police reports. “
So glad Joe is still with us. We almost lost him to cocaine and alcohol. He’s been one of my favorites since The James Gang.
Joe Walsh is the real deal.. got to see him in concert a few years ago when he joined Bob Segar... it was almost too much to take in! Thanks for your great review... smiles for sure.
That must have been one hell of a show.
Love this song! The louder the better!!! Turn it up!!!!
Joe Walsh: The Confessor. You wont be disappointed!
Underrated!
Lol I just commented almost word for word this same comment 😂😂😂😂
Oh yes I requested The Confessor Brother Jamal this is a great one by Joe Walsh
The Confessor
Yes! A fucking awesome and underrated song.
Yeah he was in The Eagles & his voice is like that. He was in the James Gang. The song rom The Eagles to check out is “Those Shoes” because there was two guitars Don Felder & Joe Walsh.
That song is perfect! The guitars, the vocals... perfect!
He IS in the Eagles!
My favorite Joe Walsh song!!! Tied for first though is “Life’s been good to me”!! Do that one next!!! Great reaction as always Jamel!!
If you liked this, Funk 49, in my opinion, is the James Gang best song.
Funk 49 then Funk 48
Love it!
Totally agree!
Funk 49 is a great song by the James Gang.
This times a million. Pure Joe Walsh.
Jamel_AKA_Jamal: Be the light, buddy! Thank you for spreading love and joy. It's good to see you and hear you.
Joe Walsh has an amazing talent for taking different sounds, etc., and fitting them together in ways that make outstanding music. He has numerous hits, but this is my favorite.
He wrote this while cutting his grass in Colorado. He came up with the lyrics and wrote them on a napkin sitting in the backyard.
Yes,that's true.. I believe it was mentioned in the Eagles Documentary,it's a 2- Parter definitely worth watching. I enjoyed it, very informative.. It was on a cable network called AXS always has rock documentary's & rock concerts love that station. Try watching it
@@jcbulldog533 Wow thank you! I will find & watch that, and share it!
@@iahelcathartesaura3887 No problem.Love to share that Channel for all of us die hard Rockers!!! By the way if you love Sammy?? As I do,he has his own show on there where he interviews other Rockers & Dan Rather has one also my favorite channel can't you tell??!! Sammy is on I believe on Sunday evenings
I heard that the other story I heard was once the band had gotten together it was winter and they thought they brought in everything so they started recording during a snowstorm. Halfway though the storm they realized they forgot to bring in the drums and had to wait until it started to melt then record the drums!
Now go back to Joe's early days with The James Gang..."Funk #49". It's a party in a song!!🧨🎉💙
YES. FUNK #49!!!!!!! Jamel please try Funk #49, favorite tune! Funk number 49, not hashtag 49 young man!
My dad is good friends with Jimmy Fox from the James Gang. Really cool guy.
Joe Walsh was in the James gang and did this song BEFORE he joined the eagles. All those album covers in the video were all pre-eagles stuff.
Listen to the guitar riffs, this was a warm up for hotel California. Which was one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. Love Joe, this man had his own style!
Dan Westerhouse still does
One of the funniest Joe Walsh moments I ever saw was not musical.
At 60 years old I've been blessed to experience 100's if not 1000's of great artists that have created masterpieces!
He was with the James Gang then solo way before The Eagles. I was shocked he joined a mellow group. He keeps doing his solo stuff even though he remains with The Eagles. Phenomenal guitarist, songwriter, performer, and singer (if you can get used to his voice).
one of the best rock songs ever recorded
The way Joe introduces this song at concerts is "If I knew I was gonna have to play this all my life, I'd have written a better song".
Lol 😆!!
Born in 1963.
So so so blessed to have lived in this era.
Joe Walsh, “Life’s Been Good”, “A Life of Illusion”
No Joe Walsh reaction is complete without "Life's Been Good". As for Lynyrd Skynyrd, "The Ballad Of Curtis Lowe".
Spot on !!
Fuck yeah Curtis Lowe! Baddest picker to ever play the blues.
Second the requests for Life’s Been Good. Hilarious lyrics about life as a rock n roller.
He was
already a major artist in his own right . A few years later when The Eagles
came to town , my friends and I went to the gig just to see Joe . It was many
years ago , 1976 I think . From memory he played this song and Turned to Stone
and maybe one or two other solo tracks . He was the best musician on the stage
that night , that's for sure .
Got to react to life's been good, so for; Live in hotel rooms, tear out the walls,my favorite line in the song 🇨🇦😄
Joe Walsh is my favorite guitarist ever ! Check out Life's Been Good or County Fair . Any Joe song is worth the listen . He was in James Gang's First three studio albums . A true legend . Very witty ! ILBTs
J,
Joe Walsh was in the band “James Gang” before joining “The Eagles”!
The Eagles do sometimes play some of Joe’s original early stuff!
The two favorites from the James Gang era are
1) Funk 49
2) Walk Away
Listen to both and you’ll be glad you did!!
Joe Walsh is from Wichita KS - after a devastating tornado in the Wichita and Andover Kansas area in 1990 he gave a benefit concert - It was a Great Concert and a Great thing for him to do!
One of the best rock songs ever .. thanks for rating and posting. We love ❤️ you Jamal.
Please never stop ! 😊
Check out his appearance on "Live From Daryl's House"...Daryl Hall that is!!!
Yes!! That performance was amazing!!
THAT was Excellent! I don't have words to describe how good JW really is! I read that he learned slide from Duane Allman. Not sure if it's true, but I know that Derrick Trucks is possibly the only person who could outplay Joe on slide...possibly...
Joe Walsh played for the Eagles as well J. Love him on the track In The City.
Because of some personalities in the Eagles, Joe will say he works for the Eagles.
Funk#49 is required on any playlist I create!
Dirty funky blues...stripper music! I highly recommend his song “Life’s been Good.”
OMG .....LIFE"S BEEN GOOD...remember they played the living hell out of that great song on FM radio in Houston!!

He's also Ringo Starr's Brother-in-Law.
Wow i did not know that. You learn something new everyday and if you don't you just ain't paying attention!
Actually he's not. Ringo's wife is his sister-in-law. He married Barbara's sister. Which makes Ringo his sister-in-law's husband. Your sister-in-law, can't be married to your brother-in-law. A lot of people misunderstand that.
...or, Ringo’s HIS bro in law...;)
Michael Simmons sounds like the old song “I’m my own Grandpa”.
@@MichaelSimmons. Well, you're welcome to try to change people's minds. Just Google "Joe Walsh's brother-in-law" and guess who pops up?
I return to listening to all Joe Walsh stuff every five years or so. Never gets old.
The man does things with a guitar that is legendary... From a die hard Country fan growing up to this in the mid 70's completely different ... I'll take this anytime over most of the Country music being put out today...
Another great Jim Croce song like Bad Leroy Brown is...
YOU DON'T MESS AROUND WITH JIM
You Don't Mess Around with Jim is a great song, Jim Croce is one of the best storytellers music has ever had.
