  • Here's a pack of 6 coyotes getting all excited and making the noise we hear often and sometimes wakes us up when they are close by.
Several times the trail cameras have recorded them having a party just off camera. At least twice they've walked just behind a camera or just past the camera's view and got loud.

I live by the Rillito River, probably near you, and this is an incredible visual capture of something we hear all the time but never get to see - thanks! I freaking LOVE this sound, and all the voices and personalities you can hear.

I’m out near Sabino High School. They use this wash to travel here and visit behind me and use our driveway on their route. There are a few more of them doing this in view of the camera in my Coyote playlist. Here is one other example:

Great capture! I had a feeling they would be playful like this while making these howls and yelps. I do miss hearing them when I lived near the desert

Loved it! We hear them all the time near our home in Colorado. Occasionally I get a mated pair on my trail cam.

In August I had a family with their teenagers with them. Destructive buggers. I have on video with up to 10 coyotes, one where dad is disciplining a youngster. If you’ve not seen this one before here is a destructive teen. They did this to 4 cameras. th-cam.com/video/37x4NThIZEs/w-d-xo.html

You're a lucky man. Where I am coyotes must be tightly controlled because I rarely see them on my rural land. I love that sound.

For us as well, sometimes they are so loud we think they are on the other side of our wall, but the sound carries so well that they are 50-60 yards away. They could if they wanted to do this next to the windows of some bedrooms, but I don’t think that ever happened. I understand how it does sound scary as that’s how I felt in the early years at our house and especially when that is going on at night and we are out there with our dogs bedtime potty time.

Does the sound carry where you live? It does here. Sometimes I sounds like they are just on the other side of our backyard wall. In my Coyote playlist there are a couple videos of them in camera view making their vocalizations. Here’s one th-cam.com/video/VvBuSfxqDYs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=clLHHpiNNfiv9nhM

Browning Recon Force Elite HP4. The HP4 was recently replaced with HP5. The HP5 has a little better night video due to some new lighting features. HP5 is also a little wider angle view.

I have the same issue at 1am all the coyote pack comes to wake up all my dogs. I also seen a wild brown wolf no collar. And rarely a pack of wild dogs. Of corse there’s hundreds of rats and bunny’s for them to feast. I pass by them with my chiwawas and they back off.

    • @azdesertcritters

That’s good that they don’t come after your dogs when you go for a walk. The coyote noises is not so interesting to hear at 1am. I have more video I haven’t put together to post of them yipping and yelling right next to the camera. It was very loud.

I hear those calls all the time in my canyon nearby. What does it mean?
    1) Are they happy to be reunited, and have stories to tell from their solo adventures? ; 2) Are they calling out to other members of their pack? ; 3) Warning other nearby packs this is our turf, don't approach? ; 4) They've found a fresh kill?
    Still looking for answers.

    • @azdesertcritters
      @azdesertcritters  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

From the multiple videos I have of this, it is when they are reunited. Pretty sure this is not a warning and not a fresh kill. I have at least two where a single is calling out to the others, which is a little different. Here is a link to them.

It had been quiet for awhile, but last few weeks the coyotes have been quite vocal. The sound carries so at times not sure how far away they are and other times, they are very close. They can get very loud. Children can be very loud as well when there is a pack of children playing. 😁
