    The person on the right is wearing a trilby hat similar to what my late Father wore . He wore one all his life but they were fashionable in the 40s and 50s. The coat he wearing is from the same era.

    Had the exact same figure staring at me in the early 90s while we were processing an image but only down to his neck it was scanning and he left before the image was complete. We went to save the image and the computer rebooted in front of about nine of us.

    Wow, this is incredibly interesting as I visited this church with my dad, who is a photographer. He was taking some shots when he swears he heard someone whisper "look for your name". He turned towards the voice and the first headstone he saw had his first name Simon, and directly next to it was one with our second name Powell. Left us very uneasy for a little while, we've both had multiple experiences in the past but this one felt particularly sinister.

    This was very exciting :-) And it must have been quite eerie feeling inside of that church - especially when you were almost locked inside :-) Really interesting to watch. Torunn :-)

    Thank you so much you two for your visit to church cove Gunwalloe.. I've spent many pleasant times both in that church alone and with others.. I'm very receptive to spirit, having seen them through stages of life.. I can honestly say with this particular church I have never felt anything of a ghostly nature just pure peace and bliss.. I've spent lots of time in the churchyard both in daylight and dusk.. And felt the same.. Safe if anything.. I looked up the history long ago.. And read that in the smuggling days the detached Tower was used to lure cargo or merchant galleons to their doom and into the neighbouring rocks to be plundered upon by the locals.. Lots of seamen in that time period were murdered in the process.. The church foundations are very old and pre date A. D.. Something like 350 A. D.. Later the church was built up around the previous foundations.. And is as it stands today... My son and I love this church and spent time in it this Easter gone.. Most beautiful place on earth.. As far as I'm concerned anyway.. The stillness and the peace cannot be found elsewhere, and neither can the backdrop of the Atlantic ocean... However there was a church not that far away with a very strange foreboding atmosphere and I don't know if its been pulled down as it was a ramshackle of a mess when I visited it long ago.. And vowed never to go there again! I love all old historic buildings, but particularly churches and cathedrals and castles.. And ghosts yeah I'm into that and always have been... Thanks for sharing.. Hope you find some haunts.. Adrienne 🌞

      Hi, A lovely comment and thank you for taking the time to create it. I would love to know what church was pulled down. We have a couple of tips for haunted locations that I am keen to follow up, I enjoy a good spooky tale to explore and investigate. I think you can get a sense or a feel even without all of the fancy equipment, a shiver down the spine, an unfavourable shadow or just something you can't quite put your finger on! I am sure we will make some more ... Sarah

    Back in the early 80s I was a wedding photographer from Helston..I photographed many couples getting married in that beautiful church. Often I would be the only person in the church before the wedding in order to take the interior shots adorned with flowers . On one occasion after looking closely at the images I had taken, their was the shadow of a small child (7/8yrs old) standing at the alter with their head lowered. I still have the photograph and was only looking at it the other day ...38 years later ....No photoshop in them days ..what you shot was what you got !

Have been there so many times before, (and have been known to have the odd paranormal experience over the years)...but never here! Came home today and lo and behold tuned into your channel to see that there's Mr.Ghost standing exactly where I had been on Friday! He was obviously admiring the view as I was that day! It's my favourite church anywhere! x

    Just come across your interesting video Sarah, the image of the man in what I believe is a trilby hat and modern day clothes ( my father wore one all his life ) rather than a shipwrecked ancient mariner, it looks very mysterious indeed though, I have had one or two encounters during my long life of unexplained phenomena, so wouldn’t dismiss this out of hand! plus seeing is believing! I enjoyed your video as always Sarah and Andrew, I recognised the church from the filming of ‘Poldark’ and my Son took photos of it when he visited some time ago, more memories for me to cherish, thank you Sarah and you Andrew for your inimitable sense of humour which you still retain to this day, bless you both “👌”

    If you want to go to a really creepy place then go to the Cober Valley Viaduct near Helston. It has a really creepy feel, as if you're being followed. I use to get that feeling there but not so much anymore. I put a video on ages ago of walking along the railway line and someone commented about their experience there. They also had the feeling of being followed and watched and also heard the sound of someone coughing right behind them, even though there was no one there. It's also been reported that a black figure has been seen on the viaduct. Further down the valley is a woods which is also said to be haunted.

    • @CornishWalkingTrails
      @CornishWalkingTrails  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Lucas for a great idea for a video! Sarah :)

    • @LucasNott
      @LucasNott 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      To get there (because you won't find it on Google Maps!) you have to go down this lane www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.1207521,-5.2752777,3a,27.2y,42.86h,88.74t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s66oy_ziJ9wJl-ls4-IFemQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
      You can drive down there and at the end there is an area for around 3 or 4 cars to park. From there, go up the lane and under the railway bridge. At the other side of the railway bridge go right and then go up the bank and on to the old railway line. Go left and go through some metal gates and you're on the viaduct. If you want a good view of it then at the other side of the railway bridge, go right and keep on going along a small path. It goes down a slight hill and you'll be right next to the viaduct. Be careful where you step if you go down there though because there's some unfenced mineshafts from Wheal Oak down there. Just make sure you stay away from them because they're quite unstable. There's a nice walk if you go through Lowertown and to the bottom of the hill by the River Cober and follow the lane by the river and over the stepping stones.

    I don't see bowler hat, I see a Stetson style, which would have been popular early to mid 20th century. My sense told me it was an older man, perhaps 50 to 90 in good shape. Wearing a stetson style hat and a light overcoat. Perhaps someone who did not want to leave, and enjoys the scene with others. A passed relative who accompanied them on their journey.
