Ice Climbers grabbing you in any game means an instant game over. In Melee it was the wobble In brawl it was the chain grab And now, in Ultimate, it’s those insane zero to deaths that either end in spike or side smash
Really surprised to not see halo 2 in this list, the BXR being so iconic in its own right, double shotting, and the super bounces. The game had the best exploits and glitches to this day.
Surprised you didn't actually put denying on this list. Killing your own units (and also structures and even allied heroes) to deprive the enemy team of their gold and exp wasn't originally an intended part of Defense of the Ancients' game design, but once people caught on to it, it became an integral and essential, almost defining (as almost no other MOBAs have retained it) part of the game.
Wavedashing yes, but there are rather less cool bugs, exploits and oversights in Melee. Wobbling, the PS tree glitch, G&W's poorly programmed shield and air attacks; it's not all good. Also there's Peach's Bottom Blast stall and the Ice Climbers freeze glitch, both of which are banned at tournaments. The latter makes even Wobbling look pretty tame and well-balanced.
There's also the jump bug in CS:GO. Where you could see players when jumping but they couldn't see you because of how the player model worked. BIG got really good at this and there was a tournament going on at the time, not sure which one, where BIG got a really good placement for being an, at the time, average team. Not saying that the bug was the only reason they got there but it definitely played a big(ha) role.
@@merasoul6520 Exactly, what would they have gained if they won? "You only won because you cheated in the first game" and if they lost "You cant win when your not cheating" despite the "rule" that forced the match to reset wasnt even a rule in that tournament in the first place. Fnatic got fucked by those admins and im not even a Fnatic fan. The casters and interviewers handled that entire situation so poorly its saddening. With how structured/rule focused current TO's are, if anyone was treated or acted like that again they'd never see work in the industry again. Its one of many hideous blots on CSGO history.
@@enragedgaming6324 amen. And the "reset" they were offered was from the half way mark even though LDLC used a similarly "banned" exploit in the first half but were not penalised for it. Such bullshit. Disgusting that people still side with the admins on this garbage decision.
Thought the BxR in Halo 2 would have been a good addition to this video. Was recognized as skillful and not patched out of game. Once mastering it, gameplay was on a whole new level for me.
The “but when it affects a professional game” sums up riots mentality entirely about fixing bugs. Currently character models fly up into the air, naut hook goes through walls, and champs that are no where near you pop up and disappear around a corner. They won’t fix it until it affects the people who are actively portraying the game to a wide audience
I think halo 2 combos deserve a shoutout. Bxr, bxb, double shots, quad shots. All pretty cool exploits that were an integral part of the competitive scene :)
How about H1 and H2? H1 with backpack reload, infinite ammo glitch, double melee glitch, force spawning, random spawning? Or Halo 2 with BXB, BXR, RRX, RRXYYRRX, Sword/Rocket glitch? Most of those glitches were integral parts of the entire competitive scene.
The olaf boost was totally fair. Sacrificing two players for a cheeky angle is a fine trade, and the only reason it worked so well was because the other team didn't know the map as well. If the other team had the same kind of map experience and know how they could've killed him pretty easily. I mean look at the 3rd person angles, the sniper was totally exposed.
Since Tekken 5, Koreans found an advanced tech that made backdashes quicker. Normal back dashing was slow, but holding down/back releasing to neutral to back and repeat, canceling the back dash animation was faster to get out of pressure and spacing, hence the Korean Back Dash
In the league clip, there is an intermittent bug that occasionally occurs when a champion is hit by two different knockups simultaneously. Depending on which knockups are used, the height the champ is launched varies. In the dota clip, Pudge has a hook ability that pulls whoever he hooks to him. Chen has an ability That telports an ally back to the fountain. If Chen uses his teleport on Pudge while the reel-in is occurring, the pull takes the hooked unit back to the fountain with pudge.
@Esoteric Groyper It's not like you have to memorize them. They are like Ben 10 aliens where you didn't memorize their abilities but they simply stuck in your mind.
@Esoteric Groyper MOBAs, DotA in particular, with at least 100 heroes, takes a long time if your purpose is to memorize. You just need to play a particular hero one time and not actively memorize its abilities but rather get the idea of what its abilities do and hope it sticks in your mind next time you play it or go against it.
@Esoteric Groyper Well if you die to something that you didn't knew about then now you know about it and that's one way of knowing heroes and their abilities and in which game people don't get mad.
What about rocket jumping in quake? I’d argue that that is the biggest bug that changed gaming because it’s become a widespread thing and it affected both competition death match but also the other competitive side of games, speed running
Wavedashing in melee I believe should be higher. The concept has changed the game immensely, being able to move in some cases faster then regular movement speed while also being able to use all moves that are made to be used when stationary. This leads to insane combos and punishes that wouldn't be possible with just regular movement options.
Yeahh archon toilet was not a bug or exploit, just making the most of the intended game mechanics. Using CC to stack everyone in one place, then splash damage to eliminate them
E-Sports began earlier than CS' tournaments.... Quake 3 Arena's blast damage allowed from rockets fired under the floor was also huge until it got patched by ID. Quake World's bunny hopping itself was a glitch. Which then evolved to Q2's and Q3's strafe jumping. Q2's circle jumping was also a glitch.
MegaJiiRo but some of the most viewed videos on this channel are about fighting game players? Rangchu? Arslan Ash? Leffen? Diago? Sonicfox? Why would they be popular on an eSports channel if they aren't eSports?
i think that the cs dust map where you boost most of the team up above the map so they can shoot down but cant be shot is a huge bug but that was about 17 years ago for that one and the map might not have been dust either. in overwatch lucio could speed boost himself down stairs extremely fast and could maintain the speed jumping from wall to wall. the unlimited teemo strooms that was there for just about a day and then got patched
Rocket League has a few unintended mechanics I think but I want to give a special mention to both ceiling shots and flip resets (among others). They both technically use the same bug where you have an infinite amount of time to use your second jump. Normally your ability to jump in the air expires 1.5 seconds after your first jump and you get it back when landing. However the devs overlooked the fact that you didn't necessarily need to jump to get into the air. (Although it has never been confirmed to be a bug, I'm pretty sure it is.) But this bug has led to the most insane stuff in RL where people land on the ball mid air get get their jump back or fall of the ceiling to have their jump available.
LoL definitely had some more interesting exploits throughout its history. Few made it to the professional stage, but what comes to mind in Heimer turrets to block in your creeps, the 5 man tp mid strat, abusing invincible wards, to cheese out a tower lvl 1 (some Korean team used it), Xerath crashing the game by Q-ing the fountain, blocking in Rift Herald behind golems for later use, some items that weren't used as intended (Innervating locket on Udyr/Sona, Spirit of Elder Lizard on Ezreal, AP items on champs like Ali, Yi, Trist and Trynda) and so on.
The number one was also a bug that was present in Smite. There is a character called Sylvanus that also have a hook like that and the glitch was used the same way. Still it wasnt a big deal cuz is not that easy to hit and doesn't have such a long rage as the one seen here
its still a bug and just as evil/bad as the olof thing, if you use a bug or glitch on purpose knowing its a bug theres no difference betwen you and a cheater.
I feel old when none of starcraft broodwar bug was mention. Like, come on, that game built from bug, and somehow its good. Anytime a race dominate among three, two others find a bug to overcome the challenge. From stacking hit and run muta against bio terran, to magic box spread high templar against zerg. To the wallin building to prevent zerg rush. Worker bomb defuse squad, siege tank paratrooper, self irradiate vessel against zerg swarm. Man its so much memory.
The Olofboost should be number one. That was really a very controversial bug exploit and people really flamed Fanatic after that match and there was a huge uproar afterwards. Watching that live was insane. It aint just a bug exploit, it's a controversy.
if you've ever played warframe, there entire movement system was inspired by a bug called "spin-choptering". a bug that allowed you to cross the map by gaining momentum then spamming the spin to win melee attack.

No one seemed to experience the bug and talked about it. Still, I only did encounter it in, and win, 2 games using the bug so maybe, just maybe, not a lot of players ran across it.
Ice Climbers grabbing you in any game means an instant game over.
In Melee it was the wobble
In brawl it was the chain grab
And now, in Ultimate, it’s those insane zero to deaths that either end in spike or side smash
To be fair 0-to-death combos are almost never true and can be SDIed, plus they're really hard to pull off
Unltimate ICs combo isn’t true most of the time and insanely hard to pull off. You watch too much twitter clips and not actual tournament scene lol
Thinking aKi I will not deny this. I’ve only been to like, 6 locals lol
The Banana Melon bruh
Really surprised to not see halo 2 in this list, the BXR being so iconic in its own right, double shotting, and the super bounces. The game had the best exploits and glitches to this day.
I just love watching your videos while having my coffee. - random guy from the Philippines
I love how the melee community just accept things while others are like *get out of my swamp!*
Well we hate wobbling mostly but yeah
Would have liked to see Starsiege Tribes Skiing here, that pretty much made a whole new game out of it.
Agreed. It's very CS / MOBA centric... which represent most of the audience.
Agreed
Fountaim Hook will always be remembered. Always
About the Olofboost:
They didn't have to forfeit the match. They got the chance to remake it but they chose to concede..
probably tired of dealing with all the bullshit regarding the reaction of people in real life and on social media, both at the same time..
Disgusting that people still side with the admins on this garbage decision.
getting fountain hooked back in the day in pubs, is an honor now hahahahhaha

Thought the BxR in Halo 2 would have been a good addition to this video. Was recognized as skillful and not patched out of game. Once mastering it, gameplay was on a whole new level for me.
The rainbow six shield glitch wasn’t as bad as the invisibility glitch
Ru talking about the old plane and house glitch?
I am very surprised that they do not have purple tarps in here like that was a core mechanic in the game at the time
Really glad to see the discovery of combos on here. The most beloved bug lol
I’m surprised r6 only had one mention
theScore esports: *Makes another video*
The staff: Please don't make us dig up the olofboost footage again.
I mean they don't really have to dig it up if it's in a lot of their videos.
melee in general could be a spot on this list
And that's what makes it a great game:>
Kinda like combos being a glitch at first
i love how olofboost was hated by the CS:GO community
but the fountain hook was just like, whatever man.
CufiL Stronghold cuz only one person did the Fountain hook
"whatever dood" lmao
he just needed to add "learn to play" at the end and it would of been gold
How about H1 and H2? H1 with backpack reload, infinite ammo glitch, double melee glitch, force spawning, random spawning? Or Halo 2 with BXB, BXR, RRX, RRXYYRRX, Sword/Rocket glitch? Most of those glitches were integral parts of the entire competitive scene.
If wavecheats and fun-cancels aren't #1...
You can tell the dudes adrenaline is absolutely pumping at 12:30 the way his hands are shaking haha
It's called "Thinking outside the box..."
Dota 2 Hook to your base should be here I remember raging because of that bug.
Edit: Ok number 1 lol
Since Tekken 5, Koreans found an advanced tech that made backdashes quicker. Normal back dashing was slow, but holding down/back releasing to neutral to back and repeat, canceling the back dash animation was faster to get out of pressure and spacing, hence the Korean Back Dash
0:13 to be fair, he missed every shot.
The Gunz the duel exploits are my favorite by far, created a style of gameplay I just loved.
I don't understand what is going on in the LoL/Dota 2 clips lol
@Esoteric Groyper yes, I get your point.
They really didnt add Halo 2's button/trigger combo's...
RbX...
I disliked the video considering they didn’t even mention X cancelling in Halo 2
came here looking for BXR was disappoint
*Dislike button* Aaaaaaaaand BXR!
That basically defined Halo 2 competitives scene
Flip resets in rocket league also started as a bug in an update but was kept in to allow for more variety in attacks
Sees the fountain hook: Me: Isn’t that just Roadhog Hook 1.0?
Wavedashing in melee I believe should be higher. The concept has changed the game immensely, being able to move in some cases faster then regular movement speed while also being able to use all moves that are made to be used when stationary. This leads to insane combos and punishes that wouldn't be possible with just regular movement options.
Aw man I'm really sad they didn't talk about the Archon-Toilet in Starcraft 2.
Yes you forgot something
.
"DOOR STUCK DOOR STUCK PLS PLS"
I really appreciate that none of the glitches are actually explained...
So an exploit (combos) that continues to define a genre to this day is THAT low in the list? Well ok
Cause nobody in their right mind actually watches fighting games :D They are fun little games between friends
@@MegaJiiRo It's pretty obvious you're an outsider to the FGC and i don't mean to sound rude but your opinion is stupid.
@@ecslo no its your opinnion that is stupid. Fighting games are not esports
MegaJiiRo but some of the most viewed videos on this channel are about fighting game players? Rangchu? Arslan Ash? Leffen? Diago? Sonicfox? Why would they be popular on an eSports channel if they aren't eSports?
Cause even normies who don't play MOBAs know what a fountain hook is. MOBAS in general are the more popular esports out of every other.
Super jumps, bxr's & double shotting in halo 2 and the entirety of Gunz: the duel. Were the best examples of bugs making games great
#8: not a real wavedash,
Tekken: real wavedashing
i think that the cs dust map where you boost most of the team up above the map so they can shoot down but cant be shot is a huge bug but that was about 17 years ago for that one and the map might not have been dust either. in overwatch lucio could speed boost himself down stairs extremely fast and could maintain the speed jumping from wall to wall. the unlimited teemo strooms that was there for just about a day and then got patched
Icefrog: Thats a game feature.
(Although it has never been confirmed to be a bug, I'm pretty sure it is.) But this bug has led to the most insane stuff in RL where people land on the ball mid air get get their jump back or fall of the ceiling to have their jump available.
i can’t bother to watch anything league of legends related bc it’s such a cluster
same how does anybody tell whta the fuck is going on
LoL definitely had some more interesting exploits throughout its history.
1st Place: Basically every other League "mechanic"
Wat
The number one was also a bug that was present in Smite. There is a character called Sylvanus that also have a hook like that and the glitch was used the same way. Still it wasnt a big deal cuz is not that easy to hit and doesn't have such a long rage as the one seen here
I thought this will be all CSGO. I went blur when it shows Dota clips. I have no idea what's going on... Except for the hook.
Long live Olof.

The chen pudge hook is an amazing skillshot. The timing is not easy. I could be wrong, but I believe it has been in dota since 2004 or 2005.
its still a bug and just as evil/bad as the olof thing, if you use a bug or glitch on purpose knowing its a bug theres no difference betwen you and a cheater.
please stop with the boomer reaction gifs sprinkled throughout your videos
I knew you put fountain hook 1st. Done it myself, the hilarity was beyond anything.
TLOU dance shivs were probably the greatest discovery of an unintended tactic.
Nice Jonny T-Shirt from Eighty Six Daniel, Daisuke would be proud!
