  • We cross the border into Malawi and very soon get into problems with the police, in order to avoid the police, we need to take alternative roads, and here the adventure starts.
    The story unfolds kilometers after crossing the border in Songwe, on our way to Kapoka and later to Karonga, where there are many police checkpoints. Some of the policemen here, just get ready to get tourists who were not able to get insurance, to fine them crazy amounts. We escape that and try to avoid passing the same control by taking a road to Kapoka that was not in use for a very long time. We make a very rooky mistake at a river crossing ending up with a big problem with our land rover Defender afterward. Apart from this, we are lucky enough to enjoy the Malawi lake, the views from Mushroom Farm, and the stunning Manchewe Waterfalls.
    This is a fun episode, just editing was so hilarious. ENJOY!

    Great video as usual. It brings back a lot of memories as we did Cairo to Cape Town in our Land Rover Defender 8 years ago. We found that if you got any officials talking about football, they would forget what they were going to fine you for! We loved Mushroom Farm but the road up to it was interesting to say the least!

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much!! The football topic is always a winner. Absolutely everyone knows about players either in Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayer Munich, so the discussion about favorite teams always is a good resource on the road. Regarding Mushroom Farm, the road there makes it even more special! Great views and a little sport for the Landy 👌

      I know the visa process for European countries is terrible and humiliating. I wish it would be different, we would like to host everyone that we meet on our trip, but the sad reality is that this will be difficult.

    Thank you for sharing your great adventure!. I have to say it is logical to have a third part insurence when driving a car annywhere in the world and having crossed a lot of border post by road in the region I now it is easy to purchase one at every border post (Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia,etc) If you have a foreign registred vehicule you will always be asked for it when stopped by the local police. My point is this problematic is easely avoided...;) Back in the days I used Comesa insurence that I could purchase in Lilongwe when travelling to Tanzania or Zambia.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, we also planned to get Comesa and went to a broker in Kenia but it is not possible to get Comesa anymore with a foreign registration. Therefore we had to purchase insurance where it was necessary at the border.

    Stunning landscapes as always. I must admit I laughed when the water came in, but because I though those things only happened to me! The wiring looks terrible, just like my 110. Installed a breaker switch on the negative to ground to prevent fire risk.

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know, but trust me I know what every cable is doing! And I’ve no clue how to make it look more tidy! If you have it figured out let me know!
      I tried a breaker on minus but I’ve never managed to cut all connections, and in the end I thought it’s to risky to have an open or undefined ground in an emergency, therefore I cut the positive and turn off the solar…

    Hallo ihr zwei 😊,
    Ich schreibe einfach mal auf deutsch und hoffe das ist in Ordnung für euch.
    Wir sind gerade aus dem Senegal und Gambia zurück und wollen Ende des Jahres weiter Richtung Oman, so bin ich auf eure Video gestoßen.
    Darf ich euch was fragen?
    Gibt es einen bestimmten Grund warum ihr eure Vlogs auf Englisch macht?
    Liebe Grüße und hoffentlich wenig Kontakt zu der Polizei 😉🙏

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ja, dass ist recht einfach da ich (Kai) aus Deutschland bin und Irati aus Spanien haben wir Freunde und Familie in beiden Ländern. Da ist englisch die Sprache die alle verstehen und als Bonus kann jeder den wir unterwegs treffen auch teilhaben. Irati spricht perfekt deutsch aber meist reden wir trotzdem englisch, daher ist das im Alltag auch keine große Umstellungen…
      Ich geh davon aus ihr fahrt über Europa in den Oman durch Afrika stell ich mir das schwerer vor 😅.

      Das hab ich mir fast gedacht. Ich würde nur behaupten, dass euer Kanal deutlich mehr Menschen erreichen würde, wenn er auf deutsch wäre. Aber darum muss es ja nicht immer gehen. Finde nur schade, dass eure Video nicht viel viel mehr Klicks haben und ihr dafür nicht angemessen entlohnt werdet, aus meiner Sicht.
      Und ja, über Europa. Nach eurem Video möchte ich nicht mehr so schnell verschiffen 😅😉

      Ja, über ein bisschen mehr Reichweite würde wir uns schon freuen! Es macht ja am Ende dann schon ganz schön Arbeit!
      Wir könnten es klar auf deutsch machen aber dann müssten wir alles mit spanischen Untertiteln versehen…. Das macht auch wieder Arbeit Und es wäre auch nicht ganz fair den Spaniern gegenüber…

    The main thing when traveling through Southern Africa is indeed to show them you have all the time in the world.
    The next action I would take if I was you would be to pretend you don’t speak English at the road blocks, speak only German then they will not be able to communicate with you as well as make up fines or ask for bribes

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  ปีที่แล้ว

    Years ago Mozambique police was a pest like this police. Every where you went they used to stop and rob you. I remember one day the police stopped me in Maputo , while the one was attracting my attention the others stole my back lights out of my car. I got a big fine for no backlights and i had to buy my own lights back from them
