Wowsers! Thank you for such an informative, all inclusive video of this interesting little bird who definitely makes his presence known, as, at my previous house we'd always have him with his 16 wives and chicks feeding at the feeders together with all the tiny mannequins..... I have noticed that different birds visit at different times of the day... He is most possessive over his flock and we always knew when they were there with his noisy chirping..... I've learnt some new words now... Eclipse plumage and how it works (very interesting) and now know the name of those long feathers... Rectrices... But, please teach us more about "Brood Hosting" - what is it?
Your video cast some light on these birds. The male was wooing the female for quite some time, but I haven't seen her for a few days. Given their breeding behaviour, I think I know why.
My favourite bird! thanks for the vid

So interesting and fascinating.. Thank you.. 😊
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks! I've been watching a pair for the last few weeks. It's great to learn a few more facts about them.
I find them fascinating too, so much going on with that one bird!
