That’s strange, I don’t recall ever seeing a mace mercy kill with multiple strikes, I only ever get the singular strike.
It's random but yeah.. the single strike is more common at least in my playthrough

I believe it only appears if Henry only has the mace or axe equipped and nothing equipped in his left hand (such as a shield or torch)
