    Ingredients:
    Flank steak (about 2.5 pounds)
    Olive oil
    Salt
    Pepper
    Garlic powder
    Onion powder
    Paprika
    Fennel seed
    Vinegar (for pan sauce)
    Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium heat.
Season the flank steak with a mixture of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and fennel seed.
Add olive oil to the skillet and wait for it to shimmer.
Place the seasoned flank steak in the skillet and let it sear for 5 minutes.
Flip the steak and let it sear for another 2 minutes.
Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
Repeat steps 5-7 for any remaining steaks.
To make a pan sauce, pour some vinegar into the skillet and scrape off any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Cook the vinegar over medium heat until it thickens into a sauce.
Slice the steak against the grain and serve with the pan sauce.

Appreciate. Just a note...you shouldn't use olive oil at high heat!

thanks, jan. i do it with a hotter pan - for a little less time - for a darker/deeper sear. it does get smoky, though.

Hi I am a new subscriber. I watched this video twice. I had never made flank steak before. Well I hit it out of the park, thanks to you!! My sauce was a little different. I used chicken broth, worchestrire sauce, Dijon mustard and butter. It turned out delicious. You have a new fan.

Thanks for the video! Place a wet paper towel under your cutting board to keep it from slipping.
