    I’m in Mill Creek, WA and I recently learned a little bit about intensive gardening. My lettuce plants are really producing like crazy and I’m excited to see what happens. I love the cut and come again method best. 😊

    To me, the most satisfying way is to harvest a whole, mature head of lettuce. Especially for varieties like your red one, that can fill a whole bowl. Or I like taking off the outer leaves. That's what's nice about gardening - there are so many ways to do things! Happy gardening!

    Please please do a vid on how you let your lettuce self-seed! I cut and come again but we had almost a week of temps in the 90's and several bolted! I cut the tops off 😬 now what?

      Hi Shawn, It may not be till July when I start harvesting the seeds, but here’s a video on how I harvest them, it’s a very easy way. If you decide to let it self-seed, you can assist it by pulling the dry seeds off and sprinkling them on top of the garden bed. Your plants might still grow flower stalk even though you cut them, they send side stems that grow flowers.

    I prefer cut & come again myself- I seem to have less waste that way.
    QUESTION: What is that red variety between rows of your romaine? I grew some "red romaine" seeds but they came up looking just like yours. I think my seed packet was mislabelled or incorrectly packed (perhaps substituted).

    Nice video. Will the taste still be the same on the 2nd or 3rd cutting. I am starting to grow lettuce on hydroponics? Thanks

      Yes it they tasted fine...they start to turn bitter when they are bolting or flowering. Thanks for watching! Misilla

    Do you know anything about nitrogen in liquid form that farmers use? My husband brought some home and I'm finding the ratios way to difficult for small gardens. Someone just fills his tank up if he has to side dress so he don't know either. It's 32% N, I'm scared to use it because I don't know how to dilute it, my research only shows large scale farming.

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is high. Sounds like for commercial use. I only use worm castings tea and worm castings, which are safer since they don’t burn the plants even if you use a lot. Sorry I’ve never used that type of liquid fertilizer. Does it have directions for home gardeners? Can you call the company?

    my lettuce has a bitter taste is it safe to eat?

    • @POLLOAMANTE
      @POLLOAMANTE ปีที่แล้ว

      also it started making its own flower

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi most leafy greens turn bitter when they start to bolt or flower as the energy goes into developing seeds and start to produce compounds that make them bitter. You can still eat them, but won’t taste as good.
