I would truly recommend you listen to this again without the video and without talking. Sink into the song and feel it.
This is a fantastic and truly unique song. Highly original. Unique sounds. A special composition with verse-refrain-verse-refrain and then a looong outro.
And, of course, Daves silky vocals backed by Martin.
It is sublime, in my view.

I absolutely love this track. I love the driving beat and bass at the end. I also love the imagery and the space theme. My interpretation is probably different to others, but I believe this is Dave looking back on his life when he was a superstar and above everybody else and felt like such a high superstar and then the video seems to suggest that he's been brought down to earth and thinking about the life he had when he was up there above the others. Definitely a reflective song.

Cover Me is the gem of Spirit, my favorite on this album. I love Dave’s vocals, and the way the song begins slowly but builds to it’s dramatic musical finish. It’s truly breathtaking performed live!

I feel this song and video is a tribute to David Bowie, which is kinda probable since DM also made a cover of a Bowie song during this period, which they also performed live during the tour.

This was hyped up, with good reason. Has all the moodiness/atmosphere that was missing from a lot of the 2010s DM albums. Someone once commented a few years back that this was the 2000s Waiting for the Night, and I guess it does have that same calming intensity. I knew this was going to be an incredible experience live, and it was.
I was shocked that the only song I truly loved from the album was penned by Dave.
PS Dave is so beautiful in this video.

Agree with you, it feels like we are back to an earlier stage with this song.
This is the only song on this record that I really appreciate. The sound and tone with the bent guitar sounds make the song atmospheric in a way that has not been so common on the later Depeche Mode records.
By the way, the last video you saw with Depeche - or at least reacted to - was Dave, Martin and Fletch in a revolution mood, in Where´s the revolution.

Quite lovely. Definitely pretty and I love seeing it in YT live videos (they didn't perform it when I got to a concert last year), but not one I put in any playlists outside of my Depeche Mode ones.
Not for negative reasons, as I love it being in my DM mixes. But it doesn't cause any strong emotion for me so doesn't fit in any of my different mood-related ones and doesn't fit any of my genre-related ones. I can sit back and sink into it while listening to DM, but it doesn't cause me to feel uplifted or "beauty" or sad or... "lovely" is really just the full summary for me, I guess.
Like a park I'll take the extra time to sit in and enjoy some days as I'm walking to do things, but not one I'd leave the house to go just sit in. Or similar such of a spot out in the woods... I may find a tree beautiful and enjoy seeing it when I hike that area, but it's not one I'd hike out specifically to see whereas others I would. Because beautiful isn't always the same as moving. This song to me is lovely.... I think it's wonderful but (at least to date, always things change so who knows) it doesn't move me in any way.

I remember Dave saying it like the narrator is from another planet visiting Earth, kind of like David Bowie's The Man Who Fell to Earth. This one has a very strong Pink Floyd DARK SIDE OF THE MOON vibe. Namely the tracks "Breathe (In The Air)" and "On The Run". It's the most interesting and satisfying track yet from this album. But it doesn't feel like a Depeche Mode song to me. I'm guessing Peter Gordeno and Christian Eigner had an outsized role in the writing of this one.
That banana was so random. How did you choose that?
Some notes about the mic placement. I'm hearing some strong sibilance when you say words with "s" sounds. Also at times it sounds like you might be overdriving the mic's preamp creating some distortion. The sound was better when the mic was positioned off-axis (from the side). If you want to try to keep the mic positioned on-axis (straight on), then try moving it back a bit and see if that solves the sibilance and overdrive issues. If not, just return the mic position to off-axis. The off-axis position audio was actually really good. To my ears, there was no need to try to improve upon the quality of the off-axis mic position. 🎤🔊👌

Not gonna lie: At first blush I got strong "Romeo & Juliet" vibes from the lyrics.
Or as we say nowadays: Ride or die.
I think that is often misinterpreted.
It's not as literal as some think it is.
Ride or die is not so much as you literally taking risks- very real ones- and expecting others to stick through all of that with you.
I think ride or die is more about you two being a united front and living through whatever life is throwing at you that is a challenge or even potentially destructive to your love for one another.
    Loyalty is everything yes.
But would you stick with someone to the detriment of your own health?
Would you stay with that someone even if the relationship made you feel as though you were walking a tiightrope with no safety net below?
Anyways that was what I was getting from the lyrics.
But the imagery was very different.
Closer to a guy taking a risk to see if there was anything really beyond what we can only see, a guy drawn to the unknown, and wanting to get answers for himself.
Then I read the comments and after reading one particular comment I was like, "Ohhhh... So this may be closer to an homage to "War Of The Worlds" or something like that."
Fun Fact: When Orson Welled narrated "War Of The Worlds" via radio broadcast here in America, it caused something of a national panic.
Apparently, there were some who thought that what they were listening to was a real news radio broadcast and really thought that aliens from outer space had landed and that the end was near.
They had to some work in convincing people that it was a narration of a fictional tale.
Orson Welles by the way was an actor back in the 1940's and 1950's.
He did such a good job of narrating that he changed the narration game forever after.

Oh, and I almost forgot: What in the world made you choose a picture of a banana? You know that's borderline NSFW, right?
A banana 🍌 really Seph, why not just choose an eggplant 🍆 next time?
    Sheesh... 😂
It did make LOL though so there's that. I scream- laughed at my phone at the banana in outer space pic.
Really NSFW Seph... I wonder what you're really trying to project here with that 😄
Finally: That microphone was a great investment. Honestly, you sound like Mr. Darcy (or how my teenage self imagined how Jane Austen character would sound like anyway. You're no Mr. Rochester. He was an a- hole- in my humble opinion anyway. I never did figure out what Jane Eyre saw in that guy. Though to be fair it has been a while since last I'd read that book.)

Far from. You have a really nice speaking voice.
Colin Firth has nothing on you 😉
(In a more recent film adaptation he played Mr. Darcy. Good actor. I had a friend once who had the biggest crush on him. I didn't see it but hey we're all different.)
Lastly: OMG! No! I am far too camera shy! I could never sit in front of a camera and film myself. I would feel so very awkward and vulnerable and ellgghhhh... Plus I have never considered myself a photogenic person.
If you have ever seen me standing in front of a crowd and trying to give a speech or read a report or whatever you would totally not think I should start my own review channel.
      Every time I botched it.
Which leads me to this: How the hell do you do it?
Weren't you nervous when you first started out? Anxious? Did you almost at any point chicken out?
Or were you just mostly excited?
What made you come up with the idea of starting a YT review channel?
And what made you choose music to review?
Also: Would you ever consider talking about movies and books you loved growing up?
IF and this is a big if do keep in mind, I started my own review channel it would be a book review channel.
But I don't think I would ever get up the nerve to do it.
P.S. Have you ever considered doing voice cover artist work? You know like being paid to do audiobooks and stuff?
Your accent alone would give you a competitive edge I think.

Well i would certainly be up to hearing about some books :D
ohhh ya! About 2 years ago i was sitting in McDonald's with my friend and this song came on. I started to bob my head to the music and i was just genuinely vibing to it. My friend was just staring at me with a smile then he started to laugh his head off, when the song ended he said that i would make a great reactor. "I had NO CLUE what a reaction was!" so he showed me a few videos of people just nodding their heads to music and i was like ... OK!
My verrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy first reaction i ever done i was verrryyyyyy self conscious! Would people hate me? would they make fun of the way i looked or the things i said? Is my hair ok?
I brushed my teeth for 20 minutes straight. I had 2 showers. I STRAIGHTENED MY HAIR! I then didn't like that so i gelled up my hair. I ironed my t-shirt. and i still didn't feel *Right*
      So yeeepppppp very nervous haha
Only thing that is stopping me from doing movie and book reviews is the copyright :( but also the views "I don't reallyyyyyyyy care about the views, But i have a rule" If i don't get "Atleast" 700 views on a video, then i won't pursue that subject any further. I done a reaction to Star Wars Episodes 4,5 and 6 and i had 40 views between all three movies haha
So i would looovveeee to do movies but i have a feeling no one would watch them :(((((
Voice over work!??? HAHAHAHA I would be laughed out of the interview xD I have a high squeaky voice >.>

Baffling that people think this is a good song. Remove the second half and it’s pretty much nothing. Dave’s a rather terrible songwriter. Unresolved melodies, awkward lyrical phrasing, and complete inability to write a full-bodied chorus. Just try playing the first half on an acoustic guitar and easy to see how lacking it is from a compositional standpoint. He did the same thing with Speak to Me. I guess if you tack on a nice little instrumental on the second half people think it’s great?
