Oh wow. These gold coins are amazing, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer lad. The way it was just below the surface, just poking out is a thing of beauty. Well done Henry youre what this hobby needs, genuine and honest. I bet your farmer loves you. Theres not many detectorists out there tgat would be that honest.
Again completely awesome Henry, another STUNNING gold coin and I would put money on there potentially been some more! I'd be getting the whole family on there swinging and detect the hell out of that area!! Congratulations again mate, these last 2 videos I watched on your channel really filling me with inspiration to go detecting today - even though I'm a tad hungover and rough !!
Thanks Gareth! I'm hoping there's going to be more, we went and gridded the field yesterday, but to no avail, but maybe on the next plough it might bring some more to the surface. Thank you for all the support as always! Best wishes to the family. Take care matey 🙏😁
Thanks for the support. Yes gold prices are really good at the moment. My farmer was REALLY happy when I gave him his half of the bullion value for both coins. It's unlikely that I'll ever sell them as they mean more to me as finds at the moment... that said, if I ever need the cash in an emergency I know I have a fall back. 😆
Congratulations! What a blessing! Still searching for mine. You should log location when you find each item. I do that and it helps document each find so I can get close to where I found last great target!
Happy birthday Henry 🎉 What an absolute belter. After calling for god so many times,bi thinks your prayers were answered 😂😂 Oh my god Well done 👍 Really made up for you.🎉🎉

The following week I found this, but the week after me and Mum absolutely gridded the area... we found lots of stuff but not more gold unfortunately. During the late Victorian era, and Edwardian era many people did hop picking in the fields for making beer. Their holidays was hop picking, and many people did this. And people lost the two half sovereigns there, along with other money. Great find, but don't rub coins, just gently wash in water only, and dab, not rub with a piece of towling. Rubbing coins makes hair lines, which reduces value to coin collectors. Anyway great finds.
The other side of the Queen victoria head, has St George and dragon design on the halfsovereign. The copper coins of George 1 is a halfpenny, 2nd issue, from 1719 to 1724.
It's more likely that it was dropped by during a fox hunt. There's a pub not far from where I found these that historically had a hunt stop. They would regularly pay for the entire hunt refreshments during the early 20th century using sovereigns.
@@lesleygrain2120 During the late Victorian and early Edwardian era, hop fields were all over the place. Working class people, on low income their holidays were hop picking.
Yeah we have some ideas... the farmer thinks a fox hunter dropped them, as they used to have lots of hunts in this area, and they'd often go to the local pub and buy drink rounds using... sovereigns.
Wow just wow. For the people saying bs, the way that both coins were found with imprints and slightly visible with no sign of tampering, just goes to show that some idiots know nothing. Really happy for you Henry.
Congratulations on your finds. It's quite a surreal thing to happen. It's almost like I was watching myself find them from a 3rd person view. Thanks for watching 👀 🙂
Congratulations! Could those coins have been lost during a fox hunt? That could be a good reason why they were lost in a field, maybe people had that much money on them to pay a round of drinks in the local pub afterwards?
