*I used to take my jet boat and tie up to a few trees on the left and right and wash the upper beach with 250,000 gallons of water with 600hp V8. After that you would get a clean separation of gold and I'd surface scrape out about $500.00 of Gold in a few minuets since it stayed on right on top as all the blonde sands washed back into the lake. All that remained was a solid layer of black sand with easy to spot Gold flakes. It never left a hole but the channel I cut was about 50 feet wide and 100 feet deep up on the 10 foot high shoreline. It is a fast way to process 5000 tons of sand in 20 minutes. The lake-cops even watched me and said there is no law against a boat prop-washing the beach as long as my pump (the boat) stayed in the water and was registered!*

This last summer, I tested beaches just west of Marquette all the way east of Muskallonge Lake and most of the black sand has no gold. One good storm could change that. @GlacialGoldHunter I envisioned it without wheels when I do it, sliding it on the sand into the water. The leading edge shape is higher and as such might prevent that "sneaker" wave from washing more than expected. I have also thought about a cone with a cordless vibrator for cement to concentrate the gold. With a central funnel and vibration the gold should drop and the lighter material float off. Perhaps it could be tried on a small er scale to run the concentrate at home. But I get it from your explanation that it must be nonmotorized at the beach. Think side-to-side action of a Gold Claw pan ok. A small sluice with reverse riffles, shake under water at a slight angle and watch the light stuff flow out the end while the reverse riffles collect the heavies. Of course you can do this very efficiently on sands with the big production Gold Claw pan, using the fines side, pan held at about 37 degrees, the material just under the water, shaking side-to-side. This makes it so the low point in the pan is always the bottom front edge and the light sands start to flow out after accumulating a little. Just keep adding fresh sand in the back and shake it. All the gold will remain in that low point until you get ready to clean out and you can scoop out most of the top black sands to keep the good stuff. You will have to test with your particular sand and gold to find the sweet spot of working it and what to keep. The gold I see y'all get up there is a bit larger that what I get out of the Arkansas River in Arkansas so it should work better for you. I'm working on a system to make this easier and will be happy to share once completed.
Really enjoyed this episode. Just wondering....what if you attached a couple of pool Noodles to the sides of the mega pan? At least you wouldn't be breaking your back holding the pan.

@@GlacialGoldHunter To put under the shovel to make it easier to push and pull the handle as you classify, and so you don't wear through the bottom of the shovel/scoop.
Need a black sand seperator to run the material through before panning. Thqt would speed up the process if you could remove the black sand beforw panning.
@GlacialGoldHunter check out minning magnets they got some black sand separators if you used those so all you have to do is pan the blonde sands I bet that would work pretty well. I'm pretty sure Jason has a video showing how they work.
Well, next idea for lake superior I've came up with. Somebody needs to make a human powered centerfuge. Then just have water run into it from a gravity source. I may work on a 3d printed version this winter.
@GlacialGoldHunter basically it's a spinning gold pan with riffles all the way around it. You run water and black sand in the center while the pan is spinning. Gold will be centrifugaly forced into the riffles as the water and lighter materials migrate to the top edge of the pan and are discarded. So you'll need a big enough water reserve to trickle into the pan along with the black sand. It could be made as a recirculating unit that catches the water so you can dump it back into the larger container. A pump would be better, but we know electronics are now forbidden.
My back hurts watching you handle that big pan!

😂
My favorite is a big Wok or a big stainless steel pan
Oh there’s an idea!
You need to build a simple rocker box .
I’ve never seen a rocker box used.
Been there done that dropped a vile of gold in a bar how sickened I had become seeing that on the floor
Oh that would be a gut punch.
We know who Rigby is... That one was too easy bro!
You passed the test! 🐕
Stratification by hand seems to be fastest.
Yep that bucket swirl was working well.
@GlacialGoldHunter do you have an X account to share?
@ I don’t. Right now TH-cam is the only GGH thing I have.
Vulkem (polyurathane) caulking would work better as it can flex and grip to almost anything. Just takes a while to dry.
I’m not sure I’ll try it again. It was just too big to work with.
Has anyone suggested making your mega pan an inverted pyrmid?
Now one has suggested that no.
He's a hard-working miner
Fantastic!!
Need a black sand seperator to run the material through before panning. Thqt would speed up the process if you could remove the black sand beforw panning.
That black sand is what makes it such a challenge.
@GlacialGoldHunter check out minning magnets they got some black sand separators if you used those so all you have to do is pan the blonde sands I bet that would work pretty well. I'm pretty sure Jason has a video showing how they work.
I think you might need to invest in a wagon for beach mining. That was a heavy haul.
Yes a wagon might be what I need.
next time, sand both surfaces...clean with alchohol. then use JB weld marine epoxy. that stuff is amazing
its even ever so slightly flexible so it's not brittle
I’m did sand it but I don’t think the liquid nails was fully dry. But I don’t think I will re build it.
I saw a video on the Gold Nugget Bucket Sluice thingy. Maybe try that on Lake Superior. It looks like it might be legal according to the rules.
Yeah. They are like $150 and that seems a bit much for the system.
@@GlacialGoldHunter true but when you look at the parts, you might be able to make your own.
Did you stop and pick up some nuggets at a UP dispensary?
No, I’m kind of a tea totaler. Never drank a smoked a thing in my life.
Well, next idea for lake superior I've came up with. Somebody needs to make a human powered centerfuge. Then just have water run into it from a gravity source.
I may work on a 3d printed version this winter.
Sounds interesting. I’m not sure how that works.
