    I have 27 Victorinox / Wenger knives. The Cadet is my favorite. Slim, easy to carry every day and the tools that are most needed for edc.

    Just a little filing (to a lite chisel edge) on the inside tip of that nail file and you have a file that can also function as a tool to break boxes down and save the edge on your blade. Been doing it for years.

    You never need that big blade. That's why small pocket knife have been the choice of men for centuries. The big blade has traditionally been used when going into battle ... I always enjoy your videos. BTW all my big blades stay home lol 👍. Buch crafting is another story though.👍

      Not true. Most men carried a reasonably large fixed blade knife for centuries, and a smaller knife for eating with.

    I carry the Bantam as a backup to my Bugout or R2D2 daily. Love the thinness. Wish you could get the toothpick and tweezers with the Alox.

    The Cadet is actually also a great knife for people who _don't_ like carrying knives because you barely notice it's there.
    I also have the Spartan and the Pioneer - but the Cadet is the one I keep putting in my pockets because it's so light and thin.

    There is a reason military’s all over the world use victorinox knives, they are brilliant 🤩, only thing missing here is the scissors. I’m from England so we have to carry something very inoffensive. I think 🤔 the steel is well chosen, not brittle, corrosion resistant easy to sharpen. I think victorinox know how to make pocket knives by now . In the states maybe 🤔 a big knife is needed, you have a lot of wilderness in your beautiful country. But most of us English people don’t really need a grizzly Adams type knife. I don’t think 🤔 will get attacked by a bear or a cougar on my way to Westminster every morning, maybe 🤔 a particularly angry squirrel 🐿 that’s got out of bed the wrong side one morning. Nice 😊 video great relaxed style with typical American honesty . Thanks 😊

    My main multi tool is the sprit X. I almost bought the Pioneer X but decided to go with the cadet Alox so that it will be easier to carry. Sure I made the right choice.

    So I have always had small pocket knives but honestly never carried them much.
    The last couple of years I became fascinated with fixed blades from very small to very large.
    I started carrying an ESEE Candiru and an Izula switching back and forth from day to day.
    Great knives but with a sheath even though small they are still bulky and not all that pocket friendly.
    I have also been concerned about the actual legality of carrying any fixed blade.
    I tried looking up the laws but nothing is very clear on the subject.
    I feel it could be more of a hassle than it’s worth.
    Plus at work the most I need a knife for is either opening the occasional box or cutting string, etc.
    I have the small Tinker as well as this exact Cadet and I just started carrying the Cadet and leaving my fixed blades at home.
    I couldn’t be happier with it!
    Perfect for what I need and like you said it’s probably legal just about everywhere and taking it out of your pocket nobody would even look twice.
    Thanks for a great review!
    I love how small and light this is, I barely feel it in my pocket!
    I have a thing for lanyards so I put a small one on the knife and it’s perfect!
    I keep the Tinker as well as a Leatherman Wave in my backpack but the Cadet will stay in my pocket.

    I use a Hitch and Timber Card Caddy front pocket wallet/slip to hold my Cadet and Space Pen. I coach gymnastics and teach fitness/Ninja Warrior classes. This is in my pocket every day. It never is a burden and has never fallen out. I strongly suggest that combo. Have a good one. 🤘

    Just thought- I use a small Night Eyz double mini carabiner as a pocket clip. It’s a little clunky with the spring closure but inexpensive and functional - in lieu of a pocket clip. You mileage may vary

    Also legal to carry in the UK (heavy knife carry laws) Less than 3 inches and non locking blade. You can't carry a Leatherman because it locks, but the good ol' Swiss can be carried everywhere.
    Also you can buy aftermarket pocket clips that use the keyring eye hole to screw the clip to, with just 1 screw. Really helpful and quite cheap.

      @WakandaForevar New Clipper lighters quality is junk, the old ones were great. Bic hasn't dropped it's quality and they are No1 all over the world for a reason. Clippers have died long ago.

    • @greekveteran2715
      @greekveteran2715 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @WakandaForevar Qualitty on newer made Clippers is junk compared to Bic. I love them both but Clippers are only better for the fact, that they can be refilled with gas and flint. On anything else plus general quality and build, Bic is far superior

    I find the nail file useless. Also the combo tool on the bantum or waiter combines the two tools on this knife. I find the bantum/waiter to be better

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree tbh I never file my nails, although sometimes I cut them with Victorinox scissors. I'd agree with you on the Bantam being better if you want small and slim, or the Pioneer - with it's excellent inline awl - if you don't mind the extra size / weight.

    • @ianwalker1182
      @ianwalker1182 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I find the nail file effective, you do need to lightly chamfer both sides of your nail as well. It needs the addition of scissors to be ideal for me.

    I could care less if people are scared or uncomfortable with my knife...... However it does make perfect sense to carry that little Cadet...

    • @kova1577
      @kova1577 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. If people are so weak to be afraid of someone’s knife they have no business to ask about it or even working. Being afraid of a tool is the biggest pussification a man can have. Might aswell bee afraid of plastic packaging because it has a **DEADLY ASSUALT SHARENED EDGE** or whatever exaggerated remark they make because their ignorant feelings are hurt. It honestly shows to me how weak the modern man is.

  • @ndrthrdr1

      If you're still looking for it, there are two celidor (plastic) models that are kinda similar to the Cadet: The Sportsman and the Recruit.

    • @ironman2326
      @ironman2326 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Sportsman... and you get a corkscrew and awl with it on the back side.

  • @kova1577
    @kova1577 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’m pretty sure these are illegal in KaliYugafornia. Basically breathing is illegal in that state though. It’s the embodiment of human pussification. A knife is never scary to someone who can rub two brain cells together and see that it is clearly a tool like anything else the average person may carry. Really wish people weren’t so weak in modern times

    Cool knife but I think I’d rather just carry around a cheap utility blade. Never have to sharpen it and if it gets lost, who cares. Go to Home Depot and spend $5 on another one.

    What guy files his nails? Lol. Why don’t they add something useful.

    • @FreedomFox1
      @FreedomFox1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but I use it to remove the dirt from under my nails. I work outside, so it’s something I’m needing to do constantly. Having said that, the combitool on the Compact works just as well for nail cleaning... I also like the scissors (wish there were a cadet x or bantam x).

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FreedomFox1 The reamer on the Pioneer/Farmer works just as well for nail cleaning but personally if I start getting dirt under my nails, I cut them because that tells me they're too long. The scissors on a 58mm Victorinox - btw the nail file on these at least has a small flathead on the end - or a 91/93mm Vic are great for this! But yeah I would buy a Bantam X if they made one, but rather than a Cadet X I'd plump for the Pioneer/Farmer X.

    • @FreedomFox1
      @FreedomFox1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simonh6371 I know a lot of people do it, but I can’t imagine using a reamer or small knife to clean my nails. But yes, the victorinox 58 mm flathead is perfect for that… it’s so nicely smoothed and polished. Pairing a 58 mm with a pioneer is a good match.
