I had to write an essay once comparing Romeo and Juliet to Tess of the Durbervilles. I don't know whether there could be a more depressing combination.
How about "Wuthering Heights", "Tess of the d'Urbervilles", and... "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. Now there's a depressing trio.

I think Under the Dome by King feels pretty comfortable in 1200 pages. there are so many characters, so many stuff is going on throughout the book, so it really NEEDS to be that size. Reading 15 minutes of this book made me think that the part I read would make a whole series episode and hell, I am right about it, cause there is a TV series based on it.
190 pages? But... Harry Potter! Would you really want them to only be 190 pages long?

Bazpierce wait no! Half-Blood Prince is my favorite!...but, I do agree Deathly Hallows IS basically a book of what not to do when you go camping. She really could've whittled that book down by at least 200 pages.

Okay...I'm just going to tell you....I did not know Irish was a language...I thought it was an accent. I just looked it up. I feel really ignorant. Now I'm going to find some video where they speak Irish just to be sure this isn't a trick to make me mention it at cocktail parties and get laughed at. WTF? ~ jennyinseattle
I didn't know Irish was the language either. I thought it was the accent, but that Gaelic was the language that used to be predominantly spoken. By a very quick google search, apparently they're the same thing??? Cool to find out!
