  • I ordered the Ludwig Pocket Kit by Questlove. Is it any good? I go over what's included in the package, set it up, get it tuned, check out the online materials, and also give you some tips on how to make your Pocket Kit (or any kit) sound better.

    i have one. its a great bop kit for adults with nice tone. the wood is typical poplar. the cymbals are "ok", but the crash/ride is a little small for my tastes. the hardware is "decent"... not great, not bad
    definately worth the money for sure. you will pay double at least for other poplar adult kits.
    super portable, and definately small space gig worthy.... not a "toy" for sure.

      Exactly what I wanted to hear, whether or not it is a good kit for not only an intermediate drummer, but also an adult

  • @mctwishvonnoodles9793

    Would you say the kick pedal is responsive? I'm going to end up replacing the heads and cymbals with low volume stuff, so if the kick pedal and shells are decent quality I just might get this kit as my first one

    • @JaydenEricBeaudoin
      @JaydenEricBeaudoin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The kick pedal isn't the best, but it's good enough. If you're doing a lot of fancy footwork you're going to want to upgrade.
      I'm coming out with a video about head muffling in a few days and demo a bunch of options on this kit - should help you get a low volume sound
      For a first kit I don't think there's a better option.

    Holy crap i never knew mr Rodgers had a son. Thats awesome your dad could play like anything. The moment he played like a block of wood with sticks mindblown 🤯. Keep the legacy going by the way how's the neighborhood of make believe going? Like king Friday gots to be dead. Thier son gots to be running that town by now. BTW did you get the sandbox in the back of your dad's old place I made one, but cats kept getting in it and crapping in it. I'm way off point cool video glad you are like not selling out like your old man did to the pbs mainstream. Keep it 💯 all good in the neighborhood 👍

    The drums are way ahead in quality than the cymbals. Otherwise, I believe let can be used professionally like Questlove himself!

    Want to put one in my small studio space. Does it sound good and work for adults. Im torn between this and the breakbeats...im leanong towards this because it comes with enough hardware to start out...but thr breakbeats looks professional as fuck..

    • @JaydenEricBeaudoin
      @JaydenEricBeaudoin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A buddy of mine has the break beats kit and it's definitely a step up. It really just depends on how professional you want to go and how much money you're willing to spend. Both are sized fine for an adult - I'm 6'2"!

    • @JaydenEricBeaudoin
      @JaydenEricBeaudoin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Should also add, I recently put on new heads which are thicker and costed - definitely improves the sound quality a ton!

    I wish there was something like this when I was a kid. My folks bought me a "kit" from a Sears catalog in the 70s. 2 toms, bass drum, and a cymbal worse than those in this kit. NO hi hat or snare. "Mom, Dad, I need a snare and hi-hat." Parents: "There are enough drums for you to play with. How come you don't play with them?" They didn't know, but they never understood...This is a sweet kit!

    why would you buy a kids kit when the proper adult kit is the breakbeats,this kit is designed for small people ,no boot riser,small stands etc.Kinda crazy idea to buy this for a 6'2" adult.I think you just threw your money away.

    • @JaydenEricBeaudoin
      @JaydenEricBeaudoin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I bought it as a beater kit which I can toss in the closet when needed. I also teach at home, so having a kit which works for children is important. Definitely hasn't been a waste of money so far. Cheers
