Got one in 2018 and I have used it for every gig since , I mounted a drum port, tune the snare pretty high and I use 2 X 1000w bass subs for larger gigs, it blows people away when they hear it , great little kit
Very recommend, bought mine back in 2015 when it came out to put on the road for my gigs and is very good! Only £299 I paid. More expensive now though.
I've had mine since 2016 and love them. Use them for everything from reggae to punk. Even used a double bass pedal on them for a while. Only got compliments on sound live even when people look at them and think they will never measure up. Only problem is the lift welded to the bass drum snapped off. Had to jerry rig something : (
@@johnburkhalter3880 ik this is an old comment but should I base the size of the lift I get on Preference or what size lift did you get for this kit? I was gonna play it safe n get a 9-10 inch pearl optimount lift
The kick sounds much better live IRL, as a sound man, I recently encountered it and while it is the weak-link of many of those small kits, it was the best drum of the bunch. They truly do sound great!! Quest Love is actually playing this set, unlike a lot of artist not really playing their "signature" kit, like Manu Katché when he had a signature hip-gig, never seen him play the damn thing lmao... and the new finishes...!!!
I have had my breakbeats kit for 2 and a half years now and all I can say is that you won't be disappointed. This kit is very versatile and packs a whole lot of punch for its size(especially the kick). With the club jam, you may not get as much punch out of the kick considering it's size.
@@brianjose7416 i decided to go with the Ludwig at the end it seems the overall sound is rounder and fuller despite the small kick size(just place a mic in there). One thing i was little sceptical about the Tama is the floor tom(ia deep as my main snare) the 13x13 breakbeats wins all the way Just think about switching stocks heads with some Vintage emperors 🙌
@@francescorecupero2180 good choice man. I played pearl drums and Yamaha stage custom, and I got my hands on a ludwig set and I just fell in love with it. Ludwig everyday.
I can attest to this! Put coated ambassadors and clear ambassadors on each tom and coated ambassadors on both sides of kick, tuned it pretty high, add some really nice cymbals and you have yourself a very nice (suprising) sounding kit!! I cant seem to find the wrap mine came with anywhere so maybe i lucked out with the zebra print!
I almost bought one of these thinking that it was a true Ludwig, but upon closer examination I realized it was another example of a major drum company putting their name on a cheap Chinese sweatshop drum kit, so I decided not to waste my money! If Ludwig ever decides to manufacture a Breakbeats kit using Ludwig shells, I would absolutely buy one though!!
Nothing wrong with that bass drum trust me. Got it for my toddler he took a big interest in drums since he would see me play and I use his set too now lol
I only play for fun but I'm thinking of getting these for my home studio due to size. I want to replace a larger kit I have. Do you think with proper tuning & heads these would measure up to a full size kit for recording?
Hey Serene. Yes, I think so. With 2 ply heads and maybe an extra larger kick drum on the side as an option (maybe from your older kit) it‘ll work out totally useful! Cheers, Simon
Is it worth it for 666€ today or there is something else better in terms of quality and better tuning? For the same money you can buy the pearl midtown with hardware..
Biggest flaw with this kit is the bass drum riser that comes with it. The concept is to use the lift to raise the bass drum high enough so that the beater can hit the center of the drum. Problem? When you do that, the pedal hits the bass hoop! There is NO fix for this. If you rig the riser, it forces the pedal to strike the bass head at and angle greater than 90 degrees which is AWFUL. It would have been ingenious if they had put a small notch in the hoop to allow the pedal to move freely. But as it stands, you have to use a saw and cut a notch yourself. Not sure how many drummers would be willing to do that
I bought a breakbeats kit about 3 years ago and was aware of the kick pedal/ hoop issue. A trip to the hardware store, a few dollars spent on bolts, nuts and a few nylon washers to give more gap distance between the plate and the issue was solved. I've played the kit for years and recorded with it as well. Try it, it worked for me.
I'm betting you can swing the arm around so it faces the other side, but it also looks like you can attach a second tom an the other side. Try to look at the hardware in the video and see if you can see what I see.

😂
this was the best musical joke i've heard in all my life thank you for this

Sounds nice. For a tiny little kit you can’t expect massive tones, but as a rehearsal tool and for smaller gigs it looks really useful.
Oh it is. I even recorded with mine.
Thanks again

I have one in my studio and it surprises drummers all the time. Very very under rated kit for the $ and the portability is great too.

Same happened to mine. The lift is poor quality. I purchased a Pearl optimount. It works perfectly and is super stable

Gotta love them Breakbeats by Questlove!
Agree.
Don't know if buy this or the Tama club jam.. I really like the 13x13 floor tom

Wow, was not expecting to see Green by Steve Hillage on the wall!
I had this set. It was awesome!
Bought it again in silver sparkle.
Awesome job on the tuning!
I agree, coated heads would be great for this drum kit!
Your jazz drumming is great.
Thanks Josh!

Coryell - Catherine: Splendid, great album!
Great demo but I had to hit the like button after seeing the Steve Hillage album on the wall. That is something I really didn't expect.
You should try the the Tama Cocktail Jam Kit!
Trap travel is tremendous but such a small floor Tom but I guess it’s all in how you tune them 😀🤘🏽
It actually is. And also the drumheads your using with it.

I' want a small kit for Rock and Jazz. Debating on getting this kit or the Ddrum SE Flyer.
Get Pearl Midtown its cheaper and better quality
