It’s so surreal knowing how the “fandom” was at first a joke about a hypothetical game for a game believed to be in dev hell into being an actual fandom
I remember a time where there was once a dream that was Elden Ring, you could only whisper it, anything more than a whisper it would become a meme it was so fragile and i fear that it won't survive the rumors. But today that dream called Elden Ring, it shall be realized. These were the wishes of The Souls Community.
Final week (35) of writing a novel until elden ring releases: (+announcement at the end) 80 thousand of the dushanbe, 25 russians, All lost in their lives in a matter of few hours; No one had any energy, they could barely pull whoever is left of the Dushanbe as prisoners, but who's to judge those and decide their fate; dimitriev came to where Radomir is, 2 of his guard were standing, stabbing their rifles into the ground and watching the horizon; marshal was laid on a bed and covered with the flag; one of the two soldiers turn around slowly towards the voice behind him, he looks very angry. Around 10 thousand were hostages now, kneeled on the ground not knowing what's to come; dimitriev thought igor was there alongside the generals, he saw one of his companions: -"He went back this fast?! But …" Dimitriev soon gathered all their men and rushed back to the city too, No one could tell if a sign was given from the 50 men, everyone was focusing on the battle; Fedor, now capable of walking, was looking for anatoly's body, iron was following her walking; smells already rose from the ground, fedor trying to remember where exactly: -"Why ignore the burnt ones?" Iron asked, he knew she was trying to hide the truth from herself, she ignored his question at first; Iron himself was sad about it, anatoly was very likable to him: -"You know we're to go back as fast as we could" -"Shut uuuup" She screamed with a crying throat, she knew him since childhood: -"Get the f*!k away, Gooo!!!" She covered her face and turned around, trying very hard not to cry -" never knew peace have you" Iron sits on a tank, relaxing his legs: "-Girl, what are doing in a battlefield, what brought this to you" -"And so what?! You're afraid a girl would kick your a*s?" She kicks him so hard on his balls, iron doesn't react at all "-Stop cursing for f*!k's sake" They couldn't find anatoly's corpse, so they just find a horse and go back; Fedor was collapsing so iron carried her behind him on the horse; she was half awake by the wind, she sensed iron's back by her hands, she didn't have the energy to yell at him, a minute later she gives up and leans her head on his back, feeling the warmth on her cheek. They reached the spot where the 50 men are, but they weren't there, Iron got so worried: -"By the stars, Do you think they kept sending the sign and we didn't answer? They just gave up and left us, doesn’t seem they were attacked or anything" Their tents were still unharmed; minutes later another squad caught up to them, fedor got up when she saw them, they discussed the matter while riding the horses. **** Few hours ago **** The nurse is still standing between ivan and the lady on the bed, Ivan told her to help the woman give birth; anastasia, the young nurse, knew the lady personally, she was her's big sister's close friend, they were expecting a boy, his father is now with the army fighting, she wanted to rescue her self, the mother and her child as well, she knew how excited she was to be called a mother; The mother was screaming of course, yet she noticed ivan and his axe: -"Please sir I beg you leave the child" -"I'm in a hurry, get him out already" anastasia pushes him away again: -What's wrong with you mor"n, leave us Alooone!" ivan elboews her by the axe's end, almost breaking her nose: -"I said hurry, I cant end the woman with the child in, that's not fair, don't let him die either, I want it to be by my hand" -"I need assistance! I'm not a doctor yet!" anastasia was angry whenever she spoke to him, he's not even looking at her ...... . . . . @@nickperri6571 I first went Samurai to go kill Yura but as expected he only drops weapon and not his armor. So I remade to Vagabond and went mostly faith and arcane due to the incantations requiring it. Yura's weapon is bloody amazing though. I'll definitely swap to it when I can get his armor set. There are amazing weapons across the board, I just finished limgrave for about 80 or 90% after 11 hours and I try to sleep now. Im using great hammers and Tree Sentinel weapon. The latter is sick.

It feels so strange being this close to release.. And to think that at one point all we had was one trailer and the smallest scraps of info. Its such a rare feeling to experience a new Fromsoftware game for the first time. Truly no game studio has ever made me this excited. Everything about them has inspired me to make a lot of my own ideas and concepts.. I can't wait to explore the Lands Between. its just funny to think the day actually has come.. I'm glad you kept your channel going and for a time we all shared in the same feelings.. The hollowing and madness of waiting and waiting and game events with nothing.. But now we can all share the same excitement and joy of a new world. A very beautiful one at that.. Hope to see more content from you as always. Your dedication is admirable. Many would have given up after a few weeks or months of dead radio.

Yet I couldn't be more proud to say that I made it here with the rest of you Undead. I've followed dear old Mordo here since around Day 5 or so and stuck along with a giggle in mind thinking this all to be a funny gag that'd last a month or so and then we'd be back to business as usual, but it became so much more for me; It went from a funny routinely jest to a Bonfire in it's own unique way, providing a motivating push and an ever strengthening reminder that not only are we able to make it through this journey, but that we'd see the wonders that lie after it. It's a truly magical thing about this community that I held dear to my heart ever since I joined it. Thank you all for keeping this wonderful place running this, I'm sure your kindness provided ample motivation to Mordecai and many reasons to keep his project going so far that it became the wonderful place it is today. But most of all, a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful people I've met along this journey: Pigeon Man, King Cumber and last but definitely not least, Ori. I just preloaded the game on both PC and PS5 and I cannot believe it's only 30 minutes away from playing it. But what kept me going and thinking about the game even during the great hollowing was watching your videos every day. I'm sitting here just one hour away from Elden Ring's Steam release and wanted to take the time to say thank you so much Mordecai, for the years of dedication and Elden Ring News. I've been through this journey for a little over a year since it ended, I remember first seeing one of the first updates when it came out and thinking "wow what a funny channel" and subscribing, after that I had to step away from my hobbies for things of life, and lost track of the canal. But it was always rolling in my mind, and it was this year that I decided to see what had happened, and here I am. I can't express anything more than admiration for Mordecai and the entire Soulsborne community, not everyone gives their soul and passion to a project like everyone here did. Experiencing it was a roller coaster of emotions, something I appreciate very much. The journalistic work that has been done on this channel is incredible, and worthy of study. The effort of hundreds of people searching for information and the record of the ways in which that information was obtained is valuable in understanding the industry. Mordecai, wherever you are, thank you for this, I know it was a heavy load to carry but it is wonderful and inspiring. So it's something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you for your service, Mordecai! I just want to share some of my own experiences during this wait for Elden Ring. The first time I heard about Elden Ring was around the time Sekiro was released or shortly thereafter. I honestly don't remember the exact timeframe. My initial reaction upon hearing that news was that FROMSOFTWARE shouldn't rush on their games, and I would much rather let them take their time to get it right. As it turns out, I needn't have worried about FROMSOFTWARE rushing themselves. I didn't think about Elden Ring for a good long while, and eventually the name slipped from my mind. Early to mid 2020, shortly after stuff had shut down, I was scouring the internet, bored out of my mind, when I came across this wonderful place. At that point in time, Mordecai was probably about 1 1/2 months into his daily uploads. In the beginning, I posted uplifting quotes and phrases in the comments. Eventually though, I gave up on that as it became difficult to come up with sufficiently different quotes and phrases each day. So, instead I began thanking Mordecai for his service every day. At this point, it is difficult to say how long I have been posting a daily comment, as I was never overly concerned about keeping track of days. I began to leave comments on other people's comments, starting first by following along with the user @echo. Eventually, this devolved into full blown conversations with other absolutely wonderful people, many of whom I continue to communicate with outside of just TH-cam. Together we helped fend off troll accounts and more. In time, the idea of making a Discord Server for the community that had formed in the comment section came up. This came up a few times over a couple of months. On May 11th 2021 a server was created, but was not shared publicly until June 2nd 2021came along. I joined that same day. Over the course of a mere eight days, we went from a simple basic server to a proper functional place with a good hundred people all there for Elden Ring. At the time of joining I did not realize it, but this place and these people would have a significant impact on me as a person. On June 10 2021 a miracle happened that none of us will ever forget. The silence on Elden Ring that had lasted for so long was finally broken. With it came a long elated joy. I will not share the news that has happened regarding Elden Ring since, as that has already been detailed above and it wastes time recounting it. What I did not realize when I first joined this server is that it would lead to me getting help for problems I hadn't even realized I was suffering from. I got counseling for depression, I stopped picking at my acne, I fell in love. I was given the opportunity to uplift others who needed it the most, and I grew as a person and learned to better look inside myself and reflect within. I was given the opportunity to act as a leader, and while I screwed up a fair few times I did, as a whole, grow to become much more than I was before. Throughout the writing of this I has managed to keep dry eyes, but now I shed tears of happiness as I look back at where I was and reflect on how far I've come. In many ways, Elden Ring, and by extension YOU, Mordecai, has lead me to a better place in life than I was before. And, for that I thank you. I thank you for the memories I have been gifted, the tears cried, and the memories treasured. So, when I tell you thank you for your service, I mean it. I know it may not feel like you have done much at all, but if there is anything to take away from this extremely long-winded comment it is: Thank you, Mordecai. The history of us waiting for the game is really memorable, but it is also the journey that started 619 videos ago , when we used to open TH-cam and type Elden ring, every day to listen “ there is no news today” and listen until the voice of the host became hollow and we could tell that as us he was losing humanity, but the the gameplay trailer released and the emotion was palpable, and our curse was lifted and now a few hours until the game launches ( except for all New Zealand “citizens” up there) Thank you for keeping us hoping, and thank you for making this journey less painful and actually enjoyable. I remember a time where there was once a dream that was Elden Ring, you could only whisper it, anything more than a whisper it would become a meme it was so fragile and i fear that it won't survive the rumors. But today that dream called Elden Ring, it shall be realized. These were the wishes of The Souls Community.
Final week (35) of writing a novel until elden ring releases: (+announcement at the end)
80 thousand of the dushanbe, 25 russians, All lost in their lives in a matter of few hours; No one had any energy, they could barely pull whoever is left of the Dushanbe as prisoners, but who's to judge those and decide their fate; dimitriev came to where Radomir is, 2 of his guard were standing, stabbing their rifles into the ground and watching the horizon; marshal was laid on a bed and covered with the flag; one of the two soldiers turn around slowly towards the voice behind him, he looks very angry.
Around 10 thousand were hostages now, kneeled on the ground not knowing what's to come; dimitriev thought igor was there alongside the generals, he saw one of his companions:
-"He went back this fast?! But …"
Dimitriev soon gathered all their men and rushed back to the city too, No one could tell if a sign was given from the 50 men, everyone was focusing on the battle; Fedor, now capable of walking, was looking for anatoly's body, iron was following her walking; smells already rose from the ground, fedor trying to remember where exactly:
-"Why ignore the burnt ones?"
Iron asked, he knew she was trying to hide the truth from herself, she ignored his question at first; Iron himself was sad about it, anatoly was very likable to him:
-"You know we're to go back as fast as we could"
-"Shut uuuup"
She screamed with a crying throat, she knew him since childhood:
-"Get the f*!k away, Gooo!!!"
She covered her face and turned around, trying very hard not to cry
-" never knew peace have you"
Iron sits on a tank, relaxing his legs:
"-Girl, what are doing in a battlefield, what brought this to you"
-"And so what?! You're afraid a girl would kick your a*s?"
She kicks him so hard on his balls, iron doesn't react at all
"-Stop cursing for f*!k's sake"
They couldn't find anatoly's corpse, so they just find a horse and go back; Fedor was collapsing so iron carried her behind him on the horse; she was half awake by the wind, she sensed iron's back by her hands, she didn't have the energy to yell at him, a minute later she gives up and leans her head on his back, feeling the warmth on her cheek.
They reached the spot where the 50 men are, but they weren't there, Iron got so worried:
-"By the stars, Do you think they kept sending the sign and we didn't answer? They just gave up and left us, doesn’t seem they were attacked or anything"
Their tents were still unharmed; minutes later another squad caught up to them, fedor got up when she saw them, they discussed the matter while riding the horses.

The nurse is still standing between ivan and the lady on the bed, Ivan told her to help the woman give birth; anastasia, the young nurse, knew the lady personally, she was her's big sister's close friend, they were expecting a boy, his father is now with the army fighting, she wanted to rescue her self, the mother and her child as well, she knew how excited she was to be called a mother; The mother was screaming of course, yet she noticed ivan and his axe:
-"Please sir I beg you leave the child"
-"I'm in a hurry, get him out already"
anastasia pushes him away again:
-What's wrong with you mor"n, leave us Alooone!"
ivan elboews her by the axe's end, almost breaking her nose:
-"I said hurry, I cant end the woman with the child in, that's not fair, don't let him die either, I want it to be by my hand"
-"I need assistance! I'm not a doctor yet!"
anastasia was angry whenever she spoke to him, he's not even looking at her ......

Alright, man I cant believe I made it alive, So first of all:

@@nickperri6571 I first went Samurai to go kill Yura but as expected he only drops weapon and not his armor. So I remade to Vagabond and went mostly faith and arcane due to the incantations requiring it.
Yura's weapon is bloody amazing though. I'll definitely swap to it when I can get his armor set.
There are amazing weapons across the board, I just finished limgrave for about 80 or 90% after 11 hours and I try to sleep now.
Im using great hammers and Tree Sentinel weapon. The latter is sick.

This will be a documentary remembered throughout our lifetime. We've finally made it.
It feels so strange being this close to release.. And to think that at one point all we had was one trailer and the smallest scraps of info. Its such a rare feeling to experience a new Fromsoftware game for the first time. Truly no game studio has ever made me this excited. Everything about them has inspired me to make a lot of my own ideas and concepts.. I can't wait to explore the Lands Between. its just funny to think the day actually has come.. I'm glad you kept your channel going and for a time we all shared in the same feelings.. The hollowing and madness of waiting and waiting and game events with nothing.. But now we can all share the same excitement and joy of a new world. A very beautiful one at that.. Hope to see more content from you as always. Your dedication is admirable. Many would have given up after a few weeks or months of dead radio.

Here we are, the finish line; I'm honestly at a loss for words, never thought we'd be here so soon with all the things considered these last two and a half-ish years.
Yet I couldn't be more proud to say that I made it here with the rest of you Undead.
I've followed dear old Mordo here since around Day 5 or so and stuck along with a giggle in mind thinking this all to be a funny gag that'd last a month or so and then we'd be back to business as usual, but it became so much more for me; It went from a funny routinely jest to a Bonfire in it's own unique way, providing a motivating push and an ever strengthening reminder that not only are we able to make it through this journey, but that we'd see the wonders that lie after it. It's a truly magical thing about this community that I held dear to my heart ever since I joined it.
Thank you all for keeping this wonderful place running this, I'm sure your kindness provided ample motivation to Mordecai and many reasons to keep his project going so far that it became the wonderful place it is today.

I just preloaded the game on both PC and PS5 and I cannot believe it's only 30 minutes away from playing it. I have a lot of mixed feelings right now given what's going on right now in the world, and for reasons I am not even sure I teared up watching you say "There is no news about Elden Ring today". Now that where are finally here at the release day and you drop this documentary about the history of Elden Ring it feels sort of unreal. But what kept me going and thinking about the game even during the great hollowing was watching your videos every day. So from the bottom of my heart, Thank you Mordecai and I hope that you will find time to enjoy the game.

I'm sitting here just one hour away from Elden Ring's Steam release and wanted to take the time to say thank you so much Mordecai, for the years of dedication and Elden Ring News. We made it to the end, and you were there guiding us every step of the way. You've done enough, Mordecai...now have your rest. "OOOOOOH ELDEN RING!"
I've been through this journey for a little over a year since it ended, I remember first seeing one of the first updates when it came out and thinking "wow what a funny channel" and subscribing, after that I had to step away from my hobbies for things of life, and lost track of the canal. But it was always rolling in my mind, and it was this year that I decided to see what had happened, and here I am.
I can't express anything more than admiration for Mordecai and the entire Soulsborne community, not everyone gives their soul and passion to a project like everyone here did.
Experiencing it was a roller coaster of emotions, something I appreciate very much.
The journalistic work that has been done on this channel is incredible, and worthy of study. The effort of hundreds of people searching for information and the record of the ways in which that information was obtained is valuable in understanding the industry.
Mordecai, wherever you are, thank you for this, I know it was a heavy load to carry but it is wonderful and inspiring. So it's something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I just want to share some of my own experiences during this wait for Elden Ring.
The first time I heard about Elden Ring was around the time Sekiro was released or shortly thereafter. I honestly don't remember the exact timeframe. My initial reaction upon hearing that news was that FROMSOFTWARE shouldn't rush on their games, and I would much rather let them take their time to get it right.
As it turns out, I needn't have worried about FROMSOFTWARE rushing themselves.
I didn't think about Elden Ring for a good long while, and eventually the name slipped from my mind. Early to mid 2020, shortly after stuff had shut down, I was scouring the internet, bored out of my mind, when I came across this wonderful place. At that point in time, Mordecai was probably about 1 1/2 months into his daily uploads. In the beginning, I posted uplifting quotes and phrases in the comments. Eventually though, I gave up on that as it became difficult to come up with sufficiently different quotes and phrases each day. So, instead I began thanking Mordecai for his service every day.
At this point, it is difficult to say how long I have been posting a daily comment, as I was never overly concerned about keeping track of days. I began to leave comments on other people's comments, starting first by following along with the user @echo. Eventually, this devolved into full blown conversations with other absolutely wonderful people, many of whom I continue to communicate with outside of just TH-cam. Together we helped fend off troll accounts and more.
In time, the idea of making a Discord Server for the community that had formed in the comment section came up. This came up a few times over a couple of months. On May 11th 2021 a server was created, but was not shared publicly until June 2nd 2021came along. I joined that same day. Over the course of a mere eight days, we went from a simple basic server to a proper functional place with a good hundred people all there for Elden Ring. At the time of joining I did not realize it, but this place and these people would have a significant impact on me as a person.
On June 10 2021 a miracle happened that none of us will ever forget. The silence on Elden Ring that had lasted for so long was finally broken. With it came a long elated joy. I will not share the news that has happened regarding Elden Ring since, as that has already been detailed above and it wastes time recounting it.
What I did not realize when I first joined this server is that it would lead to me getting help for problems I hadn't even realized I was suffering from. I got counseling for depression, I stopped picking at my acne, I fell in love. I was given the opportunity to uplift others who needed it the most, and I grew as a person and learned to better look inside myself and reflect within. I was given the opportunity to act as a leader, and while I screwed up a fair few times I did, as a whole, grow to become much more than I was before.
Throughout the writing of this I has managed to keep dry eyes, but now I shed tears of happiness as I look back at where I was and reflect on how far I've come. In many ways, Elden Ring, and by extension YOU, Mordecai, has lead me to a better place in life than I was before. And, for that I thank you. I thank you for the memories I have been gifted, the tears cried, and the memories treasured.

The history of us waiting for the game is really memorable, but it is also the journey that started 619 videos ago , when we used to open TH-cam and type Elden ring, every day to listen “ there is no news today” and listen until the voice of the host became hollow and we could tell that as us he was losing humanity, but the the gameplay trailer released and the emotion was palpable, and our curse was lifted and now a few hours until the game launches ( except for all New Zealand “citizens” up there)
Thank you for keeping us hoping, and thank you for making this journey less painful and actually enjoyable.
