Love the rabbit GTI. The Golfs are great all around car handling, performance and practically which is why I bought a used 2017 Golf R with DSG / DCC WITH 4000kms. I added a tune, intake and soon intercooler and downpipe plus DSG tune. It is the best car I have ever owned. Thanks Raiti from the great review looking forward to more on your channel.😁
Another great video. The consistency in your reviews complimenting the cars but also being blunt with the zonks is much appreciated. No need to be touchy-feely. I hope to see a side-by-side comparison with the GTI and golf r. That would be sweet!
Thank you so much for saying that! I really just try to be honest and tell it like it is. There really is no perfect car out there! I am going to try to get that review together for you! Stay tuned!
I was gonna go base model with the GTI until I saw a 2021 SE manual with all the Rabbit edition stuff, plus leather seats, the bigger touch screen, and those Audi-like headlamps. Also got a sunroof. Color is Tornado Red with the 18 inch Pretoria black wheels. This car stole my heart, and since I work the company that owns that VW dealer, I got a 13% discount.
Thanks a lot foe the review Joe. I have never been a big fan of Golf body style as I prefer more aggressive looking cars, but over the years it has grown on me a little, and this car looks really good.
You are so very welcome! I totally feel the same way as you about the Golf. It really has grown on me and I am curious about the next generation of the Golf R.
I have to say that I love that car. I love that color and interior. The only change I would make is a roof and the digital cockpit. I hear the digital and extra power is coming in the gti in the 8. Now all VW has to do is give us a roof in the next rabbit and all will be great.
Not so sure why this is called a special edition. Here in South Africa the GTI 7.5 base model is 169kw (250hp), digital display, leather seats, DCC, Fender Audio system. The 2013 base GTI was 162kw (220hp). Funny how VW offer same model but specced diffently.
The Rabbit Edition is the same as the Sport Edition from 2017. I own a 2017 Sport and I think it is the best bang for the buck with the LSD, Keyless access, wheels, Golf R brakes, traditional plaid interior just like this Rabbit Edition. Thank you for the overview!

So from 2015 -2019 there’s not a big difference at all ? So the 2019 is the same version as the 2017 sport with the brakes electronic lsd and different rims the only real difference is the the color options and it’s called a rabbit ? I really do hope they bring a 5 cylinder turbo !!! Man that would be the dream ! Good review btw !
Indeed, there's nothing new... you can get the LSD and the golf r brakes on the gti for ages... Agreed. Some minor differences I could see, the Sport has Nogaro wheels (which are cool), no dual climate controls and the old three year warranty. The 5 cylinder in the R would be awesome, the sound would be epic.......they may have to do the wider tires up front.
vw said the next Golf 8R will be a VR6 , because the 4 cylinder has reached his full potential. The next Golf 8 GTI will have at least 250 HP and an second mini E-Engine to help the petrol 2L engine
The new Cornflower blue looks nice! Tried checking one out locally but it sold before I could swing by and see it. I am strongly considering a GTI for my next car, but it'd have to have some steep discounts. 30K just seems so high! Especially when you're not even getting auto climate control until you're in the top Autobahn trim. My 14-year-old Acura has auto climate, so I'm definitely not losing options on a much newer car while paying lots of money. More than likely I'll pick up one that's a couple years old.
had a wrx, sold it because those horrible seats and how high they sit. And the poor interior, and poor radio. For me the GTI was just a better car, and much more fun to drive. To each his own

Bread Man, on this I'm torn. After having seen some of the spy shots of the Golf 8, and I know it's not necessarily what we'll see in final production, I'm kind of lukewarm on where VW has taken the next generation. I think of the Mk 7 and 7.5 as absolutely perfect in design and function. I love the cornflower blue color on the Rabbit edition and since I'm an old guy, 228 hp would be plenty. Would 245 or 247 hp really be that much better? I don't know. And at what price? Right now, these Mk 7.5's can be had at a really reasonable price, even the Rabbit editions. So, I'm really not sure what to do. If I liked the renditions of the Mk 8 that we've seen, then it would be a no-brainer to wait, but since I'm really not sure I like them that much, maybe I should take the chance and get a Mk 7.5. Rabbit edition aside, it does look like we'll still be able to get the Mk 7.5 through 2020 since VW has announced a delay in their introduction. Another factor weighing into the decision is that Mk 8's will all come from Germany rather than Mexico, but I must say, my 2017 Mk 7 Golf S has performed flawlessly thus far and I've seen no diminishment in quality from the Mexican made Golfs. Mr. Raiti, I have waited a long time to upgrade from my 2004 WRX. I initially planned on picking up a 2018 GTI but decided to wait for the 2019 when they were announced. Still have my heart on an SE but these Rabbit Editions are catching my eye with their exclusive colors.

@@scoopbuchanan1021 The Voloster N looks great on the outside. I sat in one at Laguna Seca many months ago and liked the feel of the shifter and wheel. The interior however was cheap feeling and I'm not a fan of the 3 door design. I think for a daily driver I'd rather have the GTI.
This would be the ideal gti to get for enthusiasts. Not expensive as the autobahn, but probably a grand or two cheaper than the se. I was in the se a few months ago and it's way nicer on the inside than this btw. This is really a base gti with some extra goodies 😁
Nice VW love the seats . Would have been a nice touch if it had rabbit badging. What would really be nice is if they gave us the new Scirocco. The new ones kinda look like a modern 2 door rabbit lower and meaner!
I LOVE THE GTI! Love it. The only thing that scares me is the reliability. Am I right or wrong?? Can I drive one of these things for at least 100K without a major ZONK? MY ST3 at 73K miles just hit me with it’s 1st major unscheduled repair: bad fuel rail sensor and bad fuel pump. $1100.00 OUCH! Such is life with these complex turbo fours... I hate plaid everywhere except when it comes to GTI seats. Tradition I suppose...
Well you do get the best warranty with the GTI. I think you are still doing really well with your Focus ST! I totally agree with the plaid! Thanks for awesome support Philip!
Well i got a mustang that has had all sorts of drive train parts replaced on it at 47k miles, and while mustangs arent known to be the best built machines, they generally hold a better rep then the VW's. So at that rate, im ready to try out a GTI .. maybe an R
Sorry man but the rumors are REAL,my 2018 is falling apart already and everytime i go back to dealership for any claim i get that stupid reply - that's not covered under warranty. I'm like...WHAT ? CAR ONLY GOT 5K. From sunroof leaks, rear hatch water leaks, water inside my foglamps and headlamps(they call it normal condensation) This is my 1st VW and last one too !
Great video, I was confused as to why the US didn't get the updated glass infotainment and fender audio but Canada does. Strange. Also hate that only the rabbit gets the dcc here in Canada, not sure if it's the same for you guys.
Go to VW “build” website you’ll see they now have about 50 new color options for the new Golf R. It’s awesome. Expensive for the optional colors, but would really differentiate your Golf R from others. Personally love the “Chili Red”.
Great video as always. When I heard they were bringing back the Rabbit I got super excited until I saw it. All it is is a trim level in the lineup. I’d like to have seen some more cosmetic changes to distinguish this from other GTI trims. How about a rabbit 🐇 symbol in place of the GTI badge on the side? Or in the rear? The only place you can tell is that teeny weeny little tag 🏷 on the side of the seat that says “rabbit”. I personally hate blacked out wheels so I’d get a different trim. Big zonk for me! Good thing there are other choices. Well done my friend and happy new year to you!
I really appreciate you taking the time to mention those very good points! i was shocked that there was not a rabbit on the back of this VW somewhere! I appreciate the compliment and happy new year to you!
Raiti's Rides Begs an interesting question. How difficult and or expensive would it be to add a Rabbit 🐇 Badge to the right rear of the vehicle? Possibly even removing the side GTI badges and replacing with Rabbit ones? Doable? Or even the center wheel caps, now that would be cool! VW should hire me 😀.
Corrections: 1983 was the first year of the US Rabbit GTI, not 1984. The LSD and bigger brakes have been on the MK7 GTI since release with the Performance Pack. GTI PP and Golf R have the same brakes, just different color calipers, and labels. The Golf R doesn't have a limited slip in the front, it's AWD with open front diff.
The Rabbit edition looks the part. I kinda scratching my head as why the base GTi does not come with a LSD while rivals have the LSD as standard one zonk here. The other zonk for me is the seat designs. I like simple design seats so no two tone colors for me.
Greg Hook that’s awesome man! Yeah my car had well over 200 thousand miles and broke down every couple months for about 7 🤔almost 8 years of ownership that’s why I had to let it go.. 💔 I switched to the dark side and drive a 18’ flexfuel WRX now

There's a few of these Rabbit Editions here in CA, so I may go see what they look like in person.

The Voloster N looks great on the outside. I sat in one at Laguna Seca many months ago and liked the feel of the shifter and wheel. The interior however was cheap feeling and I'm not a fan of the 3 door design.
I think for a daily driver I'd rather have the GTI.
That is going to be hot! I really can't wait to review one!
Great car! but i still prefer my gti clubsport even if two years old! More aggressive, more power, more exclusive and absolutely best interior.
Thank for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
I'd have no problem getting one if the damn bank would allow it!! Mg dream car is 30k. Everyone else I know wants 100k+ and I want a beautiful golf r
Thank you so much for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
This would be the ideal gti to get for enthusiasts. Not expensive as the autobahn, but probably a grand or two cheaper than the se. I was in the se a few months ago and it's way nicer on the inside than this btw. This is really a base gti with some extra goodies 😁
You hit the nail right on the hood!
Well done. I’m reconsidering due to your coverage
Thank you Tom! That is really wonderful of you to say and I appreciate your support!
What a beauty indeed. Would have loved to see the special Rabbit edition with 500hp though. Would have matched the RABBIT name perfect.
That would be pretty intense! Thanks for watching!
Nice VW love the seats . Would have been a nice touch if it had rabbit badging. What would really be nice is if they gave us the new Scirocco. The new ones kinda look like a modern 2 door rabbit lower and meaner!
Tom I totally agree with you! I remember when I took a trip to France I saw a Scirocco in person for the first time! I loved it!
This car is just like the golf clubsport on the exterior
So very true! I wish it performed like the Club Sport!
Joe great review on the GTI as always, do one for the new '19 Jetta GLI and see what you think about that once they come out, thanks Joe
I am in the process of trading in my mk6 gti for this exact one right now . Thanks for this awesome 👏🏾 video I know now exactly what I am getting .
So at that rate, im ready to try out a GTI .. maybe an R
Thank you for sharing from your experience!
I am so sorry to hear about that! I think I remember you talking about that! Do you still have the R?
Sorry man but the rumors are REAL,my 2018 is falling apart already and everytime i go back to dealership for any claim i get that stupid reply - that's not covered under warranty.
I'm like...WHAT ? CAR ONLY GOT 5K.
From sunroof leaks, rear hatch water leaks, water inside my foglamps and headlamps(they call it normal condensation) This is my 1st VW and last one too !
Great detailed review. Thanks. My lease on a 2016 model is up soon, still trying to decide on weather to buy it out or lease one of these 🤔
Thank you so much for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
That is one sharp ride I like that a lot!
I am so glad that you liked this one Christian! Thank you so much for letting me share it with you!
I really like it, I've had 3 GTI' and an 08 R32.
I wonder if he will do an electric GTI with their new EV program?
It will be interesting to see how this turns out! I appreciate you watching!
@@RaitisRides thanks really liked your channel, subbed
You seem like a pretty cool person. Best of luck sir
Thanks Carlos! That really means a lot! Thank you for your support!
Great video, I was confused as to why the US didn't get the updated glass infotainment and fender audio but Canada does. Strange. Also hate that only the rabbit gets the dcc here in Canada, not sure if it's the same for you guys.
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Nice new vid! Hope the 2020 golf r has something nice to offer.
Thank you for the compliment! I heard they are suppose to be bringing more power!
I heard they are suppose to be bringing more power!
I’d love a 5-cylinder turbo, give us the rs3 motor 🤙🏼
Go to VW “build” website you’ll see they now have about 50 new color options for the new Golf R. It’s awesome. Expensive for the optional colors, but would really differentiate your Golf R from others. Personally love the “Chili Red”.
Shiny Bullitt YES ! Agree. A Golf RS !
Thank you for sharing that extra info! I really appreciate you watching!
That color is so nice. Is that only with the rabbit edition?
The Rabbit edition looks the part. I kinda scratching my head as why the base GTi does not come with a LSD while rivals have the LSD as standard one zonk here.
The other zonk for me is the seat designs. I like simple design seats so no two tone colors for me.
I can totally understand where you are coming from! What did you think of the color?
@@RaitisRides prob just grey or black leather. No two tone or cloth leather combo
Exactly, seems like the Si is more fully loaded and at a lower cost that’s also comes with LSD. Heck it if has adjusted dampering I’m sport mode
I like the leather seats in the GTI.
You bring up a very good point! Thanks for watching!
Australia basic model has 180kw / 245hp , but its DSG only same for the Gold r
You guys get some good stuff down there!
Love the thickness
I knew people would notice that! lol
In regards to 6:49, the US 2019 GTI S does not have push button start.
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
I had the 2008 rabbit and then moved onto the 2011 Jetta (mistake) .. I'm ready for the GTI especially the rabbit edition!!! Don't Zonk it! Drive it!
Thank you so much for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
My first car was a 92’ gti. I loved that pos
Thanks for sharing about your experience! I appreciate you watching!
Greg Hook that’s awesome man! Yeah my car had well over 200 thousand miles and broke down every couple months for about 7 🤔almost 8 years of ownership that’s why I had to let it go.. 💔 I switched to the dark side and drive a 18’ flexfuel WRX now
Great review.. One of the Great Hatch. Always love them, but never got one 🥶😅
I totally know how you feel! I have had the same thoughts!
🥶 maybe one day, who knows..
You never know!
I just looked at the same car at the local VW dealer. Current GTI lease up soon. Rabbit or used Cayman S? First world problems.
You are so right! lol Are you looking at a preowned Cayman S?
@@RaitisRides Yes. Currently stage 2 APR GTI DSG. Love the car but I may want to get a used Cayman S next and keep it forever. Talk the wifey into a golf R or Alltrack with a is38 turbo swap. My GTI is by far the best car of over 20 cars I've owned.
dean marriott I really appreciate you sharing that info!👍🏻
@@deanmarr785 My cayman is the best car I've ever driven, no contest. If you can get your hands on an S, that's perfect.
@@andrewdiederich3833 Thanks man. Cayman S for me and the GTI for wifey.
Great ride and great video as always Joe, Golf has come a long way, it's just me, but I'm not a VW fan, car is awesome don't get me wrong, it's one of the best hatch, but that's juts me, love that's manual though.
I can understand where you are coming from! They are saying that next GTI will have 300 HP!
@@RaitisRides That should be fun on this hatch.
I just hope they can get the power to the ground!
Riddle me this Batman is the Golf GTI VR6 a V6 or straight 6? 🤔
It has a V6 Robin! ;-)
It's not a V6.
It's an in-line six with a 15 degree cylinder configuration.
@@n.storto that's what I thought
Another Golden review Joe. You're going to need a walk-in vault installed at home with all the gold you've been bringing home. You better get your vocal chords insured, because they sure are 99.999% "Gold." :-)
Save the Wave
Just call me Fort Knox! lol
Ser gut Herr Raiti! 😍 👍 👍 👍 Then again Ford Knox might work as well. 😂
I was waiting for something with a Ford reference! lol
Really like this car, it's on my radar along with the new Hyundai Veloster. As always great review. New subscriber here. Keep up the great work.
I knew that location looked familiar...Reeves VW
It is such a small world! You should come out one Month!
The colour is stunning
I totally agree with you! Thank you so much for watching!
What we all want is a VR6.
I t will be interesting if VW does that to the GTI again.
Damn i want that DC tree transmission lmao😂😂😂😂
Thank you so much for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Looks so sexy! Love the colors but overall almost identical to my 17 Sport GTI. Mostly just love the rabbit throw back, especially since i adore my 84 rabbit! GTI is life 😝
Thank for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Always liked GTI bunnies....but bought the wife and daughter 2 crosstreks ...they love them..my GTI would have 4X4...we get snow
Well VW does have the Golf R and also the All Track!
Raiti's Rides the 4x4 don't have the crosstrek ground clearance. 8.9 is quite a bit. Plus 4x4. At less then 30k
Hard combo to beat....any other choices ..can't think of any in that price range..still love the rabbits
@@wtre428476 I totally understand where you are coming from!
@@wtre428476 Check out the new 2018 updated Tiguan SE with sunroof and 4Motion. Fits under that price point and has so much useable cargo room. Fit n finish is just like the golf family as they are on the same platform.
Scott Johnson cost less the 30. With all options..
I'm confused isn't there a golf gti tcr coming out with 290 hp? Or is that just a prototype
That was a prototype! Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Trading in my 2015 mk7 gti for a cornflower blue rabbit. I can't wait for the call for me to pick it up, it makes me anxious just thinking about it.
That is really awesome! Congrats I am so excited fo you! Keep me in the loop!
Very confusing on the breaks and LSD Differential. Does it come in all rabbit editions and all trims?
Yes it does! Thanks for watching!

Yes sir! The Rabbit edition is all cosmetics. Thanks for replying!
@@myjeanification 2019 is the model to get. Can't go wrong
They should have given this thing better gearing for better acceleration and engagement then this car would really stand out. Not enough changes to make it worth it
I totally agree with you! This is just to hold everyone over because the 2020 Golf GTI is suppose have 300 HP!
@@RaitisRides so when do you think we will see it in the states? Im holding off on a GTI because rumor mill is in work haha
Imma start calling my 08 2.5 rabbit a gti

can you do a walkaround of the new 2019 volkswagen jetta GLI please thanks

Love the hand sign language or paper rock siciorrs
Why there is no 2 dr ? Why it’s only 220hp ? In Europe and Middle East 250hp !!
In the USA we get cheated.

Debating on picking one of these bad boys up.
What color would you get?
1984 first Rabbit? What about my 1976 and my 1978 Rabbits??
Now that's a good question! I appreciate you watching!
84 was the first year the Rabbit GTI was sold in the U.S. 85 it became the golf.
Thanks for that extra bit of info!
Where's the virtual cockpit?
That comes on the higher trim levels!
