Niner fans have been waiting a couple years for Mason to get some playing time. Mini-Beast Mode and no local fan is surprised.
he's aggressive with the rush. Straight up playing like CMC.
That’s what I told my dad last night. He’s a Seahawks fan and even he was calling JP “beast mode”
Yeah I saw Mason's potential for years. But it's hard to show your skills to the world when you're the number 3 running back on the squad.
And Dominick Puni has been impressive as well. I suspect if he's as good as he seems that could really make it easier for the offense. o

Didn’t we say heisty was lil beast mode Mason and cmc duo dam 🔥🔥
49ers fans have been wanting this dude to get reps for 2 years. He's been in purgatory behind Mitchell for far too long. He's a beast.
Raw power runner with good vision and shiftiness 🗣️🗣️ got a good future ahead of him
Definitely want CMC back, but Mason can spell him any time.
Pound to pound rbs that GT loves to produce lol
Nah. He’s right on time. Best RB coach in the league.
Ya Mitchell is trash jordan mason is the clear rb 2 and he could easily be an rb 1 imo for any other team
Purdy was magnificent last night. And had Aiyuk caught that touchdown pass, which was so perfectly thrown, Purdy would have had a damn-near perfect game.
If the guy on the side of Rich is shaking his head at the mention of Purdy then he must be having convulsions at The mention of Dak
I thought that one and Juice both could have been touchdowns. 😮💨
Yea....saw that drop and thought about Brock's Rookie year scramble over the whole field and dime to Aiyuk that he ALSO dropped. Aiyuk please start catching Purdy's highlight plays so that more people have to acknowledge when they occur!!!!!
Every QB can make that pass
@@AmateurSynthusiast Did you watch the opening week QBs? Did you see Lamar Jackson wholly miss that throw in the end zone that would have won the game? No, not every QB in the NFL makes that throw consistently.

Puni looking like a great steal of the draft. He was rocking the run blocking and pass protection.
He’ll be an all pro. Absolutely perfect technique

Looked SO GOOOOOOD
He was fantastic good first body of work vs a good jets defense
Niners know how to bounce back from heart breakers. They deserve that super bow win hope they get it.
As a Niners fan, I hope this is indeed the year, just gotta take down the mighty Chiefs
Real Niner fans know we've been waiting for Mason to get a shot. Now everyone was able to see why.
Exactly!! Said it all year about Mason's potential
I am glad he got that Juggs machine. He has always been a better running back between the tackles than Mitchell.
They have to start calling the Holds against Nick Bosa it’s getting outa hand
😂😂 bruh it’s now funny as hell that shiih was ridiculous it was the same hold like the super bowl he really is like a bear 😂
The 49ers are a better team than KC so that's why they help KC and call every penalty on the 49ers
For Bosa to get a hold I think a Tackle will literally have to power-bomb him at this point. That guy last night had him in what was basically a choke-hold from behind.
As a Steelers fan I feel this in my soul. TJ Watt is held soooooo much 😂😭
For real! At one point the offensive lineman had him in a rear naked choke.
Brock Purdy is elite.
No he's not. He's solid and generally makes good decisions using the ample weapons they have. There are at least 7-8 better QBs: Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Burrow, Stroud, Herbert, Prescott, and Stafford are all better. The last 2 are good but not elite so Purdy isn't either.

@@alankoslowski9473 Oh yeah, you sure about Burrow? I had him in fantasy and I'm regretting it. What you don't get is that Brock Purdy makes it look easy. Last night he barely had to work but he still made all the right moves and even had some beautiful passes get dropped.

All I heard from espn clowns was jets jets jets. Niners done. Well they got shut down even without cmc. This niner team has bullied nearly everyone except kc. The bias is unreal because purdy is the qb.
Let me preface this by saying that I am a lifelong Niners fan: Not once did I hear any of the pundits say all week that they thought the Niners were done. No one thought that before last night, and certainly no one thinks it now. You can say they talked about the Jets all week without making up that anyone thought the Niners were cooked. Relax.
Kc and the Ravens
Let the ESPN clowns🤡 keep messaging each other. Brock is the 49ers QB and better than most other QBs who think they are.
wasn’t just espn lol…..Rich Eisen said the same, Broussard said the same…I mean come on…..they all were high on Jets. When it came to the Niners, Nick Wright was way down on them, I haven’t heard others being down on the Niners except mentioning the SB hangover thing ….why make it about the networks? Each analyst had their opinions….

ESPN has been the Poster Boy for Clown for awhile - I always liked Rex Ryan - does he still have a program??
Purdy's proving discipline and mindfulness are pretty good traits in a QB. I've really enjoyed watching him get better, and he's getting better because he draws a line around what he can and can't do during practice -- an approach that was peculiarly reported as a decline in performance because of the ints he threw when he was actually testing his limits in a no-stakes environment.
I agree. He's a solid QB that makes good decisions. He has limitations like arm strength but seems to know and work with them and generally doesn't try to do too much.
❤
Chris Brockman DISRESPECTS the niners all the time
I don't care what Brockmann thinks or does. He's a Patriots fan and is now doing cartwheels because his team won the first game 😅
His calls are worse than his hairline. Dude has worse takes that Nick Wright, and thats saying something.
He is like a 50 year old sidekick.
I was a Purdy disbeliever but he was making some incredible throws even some of the drops.
Jordan Mason was my RB1 😂
I think after the 49ers went up 2 scores they went to a different playbook. Why would they put free plays on tape when up 2 scores.
Kyle started cruising and told Brock not to push it. He knew by then the game was well in hand.
They definitely played conservative later on; hence the 6 fgs

Purdy is a stud. Glad to see him cool as a cucumber to start the season
And don't forget 8 consecutive scoring drives against the Jets defense, which tied a Niner record
It’s scary how good they looked without McCaffrey!
I think it was a benefit not having him there TBH. Kyle tries to use CMC way too much. This should show him that there is other talent on this team.
They’d be fine with just Mason for the rest of the season.
CMC fumbled last year!!!
San Fran looked like a well oiled machine... Lets just keep it real, i dont see anyone beating them until the NFC title game maybe
What's scary for the rest of the NFC is that the Niners weren't in top form either. They can get better.
@brianollivier 2 of our 3 WRs were playing at 75-85%, we're missing HIM, we still have a small liability on the right Oline. Damn straight teams are scared.
@@magewareinc agreed...however now as long as Puni keeps going the way he's going...it's only 1 liability on the line, and easier to have Kittle chip the DE, without worrying the interior line will collapse in Purdy's face. Much easier to scheme 1 weakness on the line, then multiple...
Edit: while Brendel might not be the best center, now that he's anchored with Banks and Puni, will make his life a lot easier...
Salah got a out coached badly again.
My friend has season tickets, I've been lucky to see a lot of home games the last few years. As all of us diehards have said, JP Mason is a DUDE - so glad he had his day, one of many to come I expect.

I think CMC missing is not as big of a deal because they have a real team leader now getting snaps. Purdy stabilizes the team now.
Um, and they also have a wrecking ball backup for CMC 👍
Love this man's show. So relaxed and conversational.
CMC has the mamba mentality he'll play every game if allowed to do so.
49ers played great after the 1st quarter and a half
As a day-1 Brock Purdy guy (Purdy was the 2nd best QB in his class) he looked great on MNF cuz later in the 3rd quarter the Jets get that garbage TD; that Rodgers gets, cutting the lead down to 13. Purdy goes right out there for an 11-play 7-min drive &sets up the field goal icing the game at 29-13. Purdy was perfect on that drive going 6-6 through the air to six different receivers. Purdy was crushing a Jets defense that many said was great so either NY isn't that good defensively or what Purdy just did will be even more impressive in the coming weeks
Yeah they kicked 6 field goals they still scored 32 points. As a niners fan you give us 32 points every game I will take our chances
Thats it, im convinced... Christian McCaffrey is a system RB.
Anyone can run for the niners 😂 …remember Carlos Hyde…anyone can do good
Rich, YOU are the only one besides Greeny who thinks the Jets can make the Super Bowl. That's not a lot of people. 😂😂
I mean...to be fair to them, they are Jets fans...wouldn't be much of a fan if you didn't believe in your team...at least until week 9 when reality sinks in... LOL
@@nadjasunflower1387 There are reasonable expectations and just being delusional. Rich is delusional but projects it on to the masses.
Brock had a solid game. He played his role, managed the game and kept the ball moving amongst his targets. So, the 49ers slotted 6 FGs, they kept the scoreboard ticking over
Brock Purdy is elite. No drop off with CMC out.
Those 6 FGs show how rusty the offense was in the 1st game. Most games that would be 4+ TDs not just 2.

@@Sharkman1963 he's definitely not for everyone. And he isn't as spontaneous since ESPN but he loves football and AJ hawk is amazing. But yeah. They have some pretty solid takes
The 49ers defense played out standing
I think Shanahan used this situation to get Moody game time REPS.
One thing that stood out to me as a seasoned 49er Faithful and watching some of the other Wk1 games, is that the 49ers were disciplined which surprised me. They didn't make a ton of dumb penalties like they - and all the teams - usually do at the beginning of the season. They just looked like 49ers at Wk4 or 5: polished. Surprisingly so, despite and albeit with some rusty drops from Aiyuk.
The other thing I noticed was that the Jets moved the ball right down the field on their 2nd possession, with 3? 3rd down conversions. The 49er defense did not look great. BUT, then new DC Sorensen and new DC-brain support Staley made great adjustments, and basically that was it. The 49er defense just shut down the Jets. Very impressive defensive adjustments from the new D-leadership. I'm feeling good about this season, needless to say. And when CMC is back, when BA recovers his sticky fingers, when Dre Greenlaw is back, and Talanoa Hufanga, ...
And I know Jordan Mason was on fire - no surprise to the Faithful - but I think the O-line run blocking was terrific and not getting enough love for opening those holes for Mason.
The Eisenword: „Purdy is an elite quarterback“
who
No overreaction but an analysis of a hall of fame sportscaster and beloved host.
Adjust? Revenge is the word and it will be best served cold!
This season starts in January, this is not arrogant and based on the fact that literally all Avengers are still on board and the captain gets elite.
They want that ring you saw on Monday … at 7 the Chiefs and on 8 the Boys will come to town - after that we will talk again.
I think Puni is gonna be the biggest surprise difference maker for the offense this season. Being able to run left and right is gonna really be an upgrade and theoretically keeps defense from just overloading the right so much😂. I saw last season people wondering why Purdy would often drift or roll left but rarely right and I just show them the SB clip with that right side failing epicly
Niners D looked great. Fred Warner is a beast.
Donte Whitner said on NBCSBA pre game show the Niners would run straight at the Jets defense and be successful doing it.
RICH EISEN, you silver fox you, IVE ALWAYS LOVED YOU AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL ANGELIc words!! Xoxo ❤
Coin toss remark was a low blow Rich..."Too soon".....😂😂
We almost had a Purdawg play, but Samuel wasn't able to throw the ball.
Just an FYI but Niners always like getting the ball second. They RARELY receive first if they win the coin toss (unless it rains or it’s windy)
I do feel like Mason getting all those carries was at least in part due to the fact that it would have taken CMC roughly half as many carries to get that many yards. Nothing against Mason at all, but simple math is it takes more carries to move the ball 100 years when you're averaging 5y/carry vs 10. But also, Kyle realized the Jets weren't having a lot of success stopping the run, so why bother doing anything else? Save your QB arm and WR bodies when they all seem to be having less than perfect games and let the rookie pound it down their throats. Bonus is keeping some of your passing game off film that the next team can study
Purdy makes all his throws within 3 sec. All of them.
Anyone else upset at Aiyuk for dropping passes AGAIN. After making a big deal over his contract, that's not what I want to see.
This is no surprise to us in the Bay. We know Mason has been a starting caliber back for 2 years now. He’s been our little secret ;)
The glazing is crazy
While I would've liked for some passing TDs just because the haters are ridiculous 8 straight scoring drives with no TOs is incredible work and really it should've bee caught but its ok we got the win and no injuries
As the season goes on, those field goals will turn into touchdowns.
As a long time 49ers fan what I thought of after the opening game was 1991. Montana out for the season, Young gets injured and Steve Bono takes over at QB. He goes 5-1 as a starter before Young comes back. Even when the star players are out SF can build a team that just works
THAT'S RIGHT BROTHER!!
THAT'S RIGHT YO!!
Same old BAD football fans, One game, and they are literally jumping out of buildings. They NEVER learn.
LUV Aaron - ESPECIALLY His anti - Vax Stand - glad He's in the East but 40 IS 40
The McCaffrey calf issue is a problem. Christian missed trying camp and the entire preseason and he still isn’t ready to go. And he won’t be ready to go next week either. Mason did amazing last night. Let’s hope he can continue that type of play till Christian is back
None of these “analysts” are talking about coaching. Clearly that’s the biggest difference between the 2 teams.
The Niners were always a run first team before CMC. They’ve always had great running backs that were under the radar. The problem was they didn’t THE running back like they had with Wrs etc. They kept getting hurt and they were never really consistent. Jordan mason tho has always been special with the little flashes we’ve seen in past seasons.
Does anyone really think you can run the ball like that without a legit passing threat? Go watch what the Hawks did to the Broncos, stacking the box, knowing Bo Nix could not make them pay. Purdy is an elite QB already and getting better.
There's a lot of homerism going on in the 49ers fanbase, but Purdy really had a middle of the road game. The OL pass protection was pretty bad early but as the game went on he actually got some decent protection from them. He wasn't really that impressive and has had better games. He had one drive where he dirted or overthrew the receiver on every pass. There was the double go route where he tried to hit Saubert and almost got picked by the free-floating safety. Even the throw people are praising Brock and dogging Aiyuk on could have been better placed so Aiyuk didn't have to do a fully stretched out dive. That's a really hard ask on any WR in the NFL when they have are free, but Aiyuk was hand-fighting with the DB just to get open. Purdy has thrown better passes to Aiyuk in that corner, even off scramble drills (e.g. the last time Aiyuk dropped a corner TD).
Also, there is way too much hype around CMC. Yes, he's a Wide Back just like Deebo. He offers versatility. But as a running back, all the Shanahan system has done over multiple decades is turn 1-cut runners into 1000 yard running backs. Before CMC, the 49ers ran the RBBC approach with Elijah Mitchell, Raheem Mostert, Matt Breida, and Jeff Wilson. Kyle had Devonta Freeman in Atlanta. Kyle and Mike had Alfred Morris in Washington. Mike's Broncos had Terrell Davis, Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary, Clinton Portis, Reuben Droughns and Tatum Bell. And when those guys were gone, Mike still got 1500 combined rushing yards out of the RBBC pairing of Selvin Young and Travis Henry. With CMC (calf) and Mitchell (hamstring) out, the 49ers have Mason, Guerendo, and Taylor. The offensive line is built to zone block for the run game. All of the skill position players are known for their downfield blocking in the run game (Deebo too even though he does take plays off at times).
Ur kinda right, kinda wrong. I agree, that Purdy wasn’t off the charts; maybe B+ for me. The one drive had a few consecutive bad throws, like u said. As far as the end zone throw to BA, he had to lead em a bit, cause defender was right on em. I think mid season form Aiyuk has that one. Also, CMC is elite. That is undeniable
I’m still crushed from the last Super Bowl. 3 seconds left in OT, and the defense just let Mahomes walk all over them, *again* 🙄🙄🙄
I screamed all year about Mason's potential, he's an absolute Dawg!! Hope CMC comes back soon so we can really showcase this combo properly. Once Hufunga an Greenlaw come back , its a Wrap for everyone BANGBANG!! 🌉🌉
Brockmans such a hater lol
The 49ers always kick off at the beginning of a game when they win the toss.
Same Old Jets! At least we had 1969!
Kyle's doghouse always has to have an occupant. For reasons unbeknownst to the public it's been Mason since Aiyuk escaped 2 years ago.
Last years loss in Cleveland showed just how little trust Kyle had in him. Averaging 6 ypc in the 1st half with a 20 yd TD after CMC went out, Kyle gave JP exactly 2 carries in the 2nd half & put the game on Brock who was struggling that day. I knew then that JP would never see the field unless everyone else was out. At least Kyle didn't just have Brock throw 50 times yesterday I guess. But imo the 1-2 punch RB tandem theory after CMC returns is a myth, & Kyle will have Mason right back on the bench again.
Mason has been the relief back and has made MANY great plays for a couple years now. Media is making it sound like they found this kid collecting carts at Walmart on last minute notice 🙄.
At this point, anybody who still doubts Brock Purdy's authenticity, isn't qualified to analyze professional football.

Rich, the 49ers always defer on the kickoff. The OT in the Super Bowl was a different story and you can question the strategy there, but this wasn't a change by Kyle... He defers, like most do since Belichick started it, so he can double up at the end of the half and the start of the second, just like they did yesterday. Between those two actual Jets' possessions the gap went +10 points for the 49ers.
The Jets were overhyped. Same as they were last year. I'm glad this time they just got to see the truth without the injury excuse because before Rodgers got hurt last year he was running for his life.
Yesterday A A Ron was back to his old ways of targeting just one guy. That won't work against good defenses. It was the same in Green Bay with Davante. Targeting him all the time against weaker defenses in the regular season worked but once you get to the playoffs it doesn't. An easy schedule can help the Jets get there but if Rodgers keeps targeting one guy on 80-90% of his throws, they won't get far.
Adding to the deferral discussion, in the 272 games played in each season since 2021, the coin toss winner deferred to the 2nd half 240 times in 2023, 250 times in 2022, and 251 times in 2021. As much credit as Belichick gets for ushering in the deferral era, 14 teams were above a 50% deferral rate on the coin toss in 2008. The Bucs and Bears deferred every time they could. Why belichick gets credit is that once they figured it out, they pretty much stuck with it in the following seasons.
The league changed the rules on the coin toss back in 2008. Back then, the winning team had the choice of kick, receive, or chose direction to defend. In the 2nd half, the team that lost the coin toss would get first pick. 99.6% of coin toss winners from 1999-2008 elected to receive in the first half. There were only 8 games where the coin toss winner elected to choose something else, all 8 were to defend a goal (7 of those games in high winds). This past year, the coin toss winner never picked direction or kick. They always selected to either defer or receive. The chance of scoring on the first drive of a half increases from 31% in the first half to 35% in the second.
49ers kickers have shown an ability to work around wind. I mean, the gaps in the stadium bowl at Levi's was partially a design decision to allow wind from the bay to enter the field and replicate the swirling winds of Candlestick. The gaps were also meant to cool the seating areas when the stadium was originally designed to be in SF, not Santa Clara (RIP to blowing hot air). There was also an aesthetic reason for it.
Everyone can keep haten. Been Faithful Since 1972 waiting for #6 and I’m confident Purdy gonna bring it home.
Actually they did, McCaffery is all about the red zone.
Niners need to get it done in these next 1-3 year window, all these players are peak late 20s and early 30s on their main positions.
Congratulations Jets on the garbage time touchdown to keep you out of the Panthers and Giants conversation...
