As a high mileage runner (90 mpw) who struggles to barely maintain let alone gain weight, mostly due to mental struggles, seeing these videos helps clear things up a bit and pushes me in the right direction.
Omg 90 mpw!! 🫡🫡🫡 I bet you look amazing. Please Don’t be so hard on yourself.
there’s literally no point in running 90mpw unless you’re a professional runner.
@@garinbaker_ maybe he likes it
The “mental struggles” really got to me in this comment, running has helped me overcome my anxiety/depression, I could barely run 5 minutes now I’m doing 5k everyday don stop, it’s more of a mental clarity rather than exercise. But beneficial in the end.
@@JuanMartinez-ty5xm That's awesome, and absolutely what running is all about! The mental struggles I was referring to involve body image and eating enough. Running still provides the escape and benefits it always has for me, I just have some other stuff tied in I need to work on...
Creating the content we actually want to see, as hybrid athletes! Awesome stuff, Nick, and crew!
The man never misses. 🙌🏽

@@airjordanatthis Tren hard Anavar gives up
I'm 220 pounds with a wide frame at 5'11 and I have always put in the same amount of effort into cardio as I do lifting heavy.Running isn't easy for me but building a frame without an engine doesn't make sense to me.I have never felt that my cardio took away from gains.I feel much more explosive with my weight training and also able to take less breaks in between sets when I stay up on my cardio.
"frame without an engine" - wonderful analogy
FANTASTIC video Nick! Thanks so much for covering this in your series. People have a hard time understanding what it's like to maintain a decent amount of running on a well-muscled frame. It's even different than someone who weighs the same but has significantly more bodyfat. The energy demand of active muscle is just intense and constant.
Currently, I'm training out of San Antonio and trying to prep for a 100k race (Bandera) in January. This is on the tail of 2 completed trail 50k races this year.....the most recent on a torn ATF ligament in my right ankle.
I'm also 36, 5'10, 212 lbs, 10% bodyfat (per InBody) and entirely natty.
The amount of lifting that I have to do isn't nearly as much as one would think, but it HAS to be deliberate and it HAS to be progressive....those are non-negotiables.
Also, the mental strength aspect factors in HEAVILY (no pun intended), but that's where distance running shows its true colors. To date (at 36 years old), I haven't found ANYTHING better for strengthening my mind and mood, which is one of the main reasons I think many of us do it.
In short, it IS possible to be jacked and have great endurance.....but like Nick said, you have to embrace the process. It ain't easy, but it's damn rewarding. Love and light to you all, and keep grinding. 💛 💪🏾

Helps when you're running gear!
@@TheLes07 😐
@@ricksbahsksj8647 or just fairly confident he's on the sauce?
@@TheLes07Of course it's easy to say someone's one gear when they training harder then you.
@@Smogytho As someone who's been in the gym consistently for the last 10 years and a former runner, I can tell you he's on some type of hormone enhancement. It's insanely difficult to put that much weight on and run that many miles + all the other shit he does. Nothing wrong with being on gear, but people shouldn't expect these results naturally.
Just re-started my running journey but i have so much to learn! I want the build you have so this channel is def an inspiration, glad i came across this channel 🔥
Loving this. I started also with the hybrid. I am 45 and feeling better.
Nick is such an inspiration. I always avoid running because I’m worried it will hurt my gains. This a a great reminder that it’s more about doing things correctly than it is vilifying certain training modalities. Great video! 💪
it did to me, but i was NOT eating at a surplus and I was running 35-40 a week for a marathon build. i was also eating mainly carbs.
Agreed that a balanced approach is great and supports a healthy lifestyle….But Nick is roided to the gills. Normal folks can do this on a smaller scale.
@grandrivercarp8320 If he was raided to the gills, he would be way bigger than that. He just eats in a surplus and knows his body is. You don't need roid to be able to do this. Stop with the excuse and get to it. Stay hard
Are you making a living as a bodybuilder? you care about looking pretty in front of mirror more than being able to move your body? then don't do it.
Really enjoying this series!!! Starting to bulk aswell! Gotta stay warm for the winter here in Canada 💪🏼💪🏼
Amazing video! These tips are super useful and educational. Question for you... have you ever tried Next Level Diet? I got a muscle-building meal plan from them that's worked wonders for me.
Making amazing content and just overall great company. I can not wait for my black Friday shipment to come in! Keep it going!!!!
I completely agree with the meal plan. I literally chase food throughout the day and rarely fast if I’m not in a longer break or recovering mode.
😎💙🙏🏼
Good stuff as always.
Thank you Nick , always an inspiration 👏👏👏
Absolutely loved this episode!!!
Anavar, clenbuterol,igf-1. Ostarine, cardarine, SR-9011. Fadogia agrestis, rauwolscine. Combos In ascending order of nattiness.😇
Amazing job! Some effort staying awake and then running!

Baffles me that he doesnt even mention it. Selling a fake dream.
Really missed this build bodybuilding videos from back in the day keep it up
Literally makes my monday nick. Every other day i do school on lunch break but not mondays. 🎉
Nick just wanna say I’m a huge fan and a huge motivation! With that being said I just wanna say that training volume isn’t the only means to achieve progressive overload. You can also achieve progressive overload through higher intensity and lower volume training. A great example is the way that Dorian Yates and mike menzer would train where they would work up to 1 all out top set and go beyond failure. Sometimes too much volume can hinder your progress especially if you’re not training until failure or at least 1-2 reps from failure.
Agreed. Not everyone is use to this amount of volume and although it may work for nick, the average person won’t be able to recover from this if the goal is to hit the same muscle group twice a week. But if your goal is to hit a muscle group once a week, by all means
The key to remember tho is that as a hybrid athlete he also has a lot of running to get to, therefore going to failure may not be the best. Volume suits hybrid athletes
@@melaniealtenkirch5165 True. But also Volume can tax the central nervous system which leads to fatigue which leads to under recovering. The average person may watch this video and think this amount of volume is necessary to put on size, when it’s not. You can accomplish the same weight gain, muscle building, and endurance training with less volume, more intensity, all while keeping your endurance training the same. Meaning your CNS isn’t as taxed, you’ll recover faster and better, and feel more energized through out the day. Just my take. We’re all entitled to our own opinion so at the end of the day, if this style of training suits you, by all means.
@@Alexis-yj9op That's fair, and for most people, probably is the most sound advice. However, if you go back into Nick's OLDER videos - 2014, 2015, 2016, almost all his training was higher volume. Many of his original self-written programs prior and during the Korea days were also high volume. I think he just prefers that style out of enjoyment, and it works for him. Everyone needs to run a few different styles of training and see both what they enjoy and what they receive the most growth from.
That only works if you are a beginner.
Wow man, you give me a lot of motivation to keep going, wish u the best❤
Nick is a beast and hybrid is the way.
found this video very interesting and learned something again. didnt realise that you need to increase training volume with lifting. the same way increasing kms/miles a week to work towards a goal. because of this man i trained 3 months beginning of this year to run my first ultra marathon which i did, its something that ive seen on youtube but never actually thought it was possible and next month im going to do another but this time the goal is a quicker time.
Big respect for the work ethic and discipline!
Wow! Great work and thank you for the motivation and information. #🐝💪
Test and Tren help too!
Exactly
My bet is u got shit genetics therefore r jealous someone get this physique without copious amounts of caffeine and gear

Loving this series!
I completed my first half marathon last week!
The knowledge that is given, in these videos, is amazing.
Keep it up my guy and Team BPN!
Thanks for the tips bro. Your a huge inspiration
you are an absolute monster man. On the grind to get there
Great content,
Appreciate the motivation
Bro I literally have been on the Sourdough Toast + Kerrygold train for weeks now and it's amazing.
so motivating, you are always defying the odds
I am very interested to see if the build eventually leads to speed increases over longer distances. I will say, runners should definitely be strength training.
I don't personally believe Nick is natty, but that doesn't change how I feel about the guy. Good info, great motivation, and he's doing things 99% of people will never accomplish. Is he misleading a community by not (potentially) owning his natty status? Maybe. But I'm not here thinking if I work hard and use his supplements I'll look like a guy with A++ genetics AND it's his business to be in shape AND is on gear.
The editing on that deadlift segment was magical
Hey Nick, would love to see a video about everything you do outside of workouts to make sure you don't get injured! Have always struggled a bit with niggles whenever I try to increase the amount I'm running / working out.

My race is done… time to bulk! Love the video!
Great que on the fasting piece. I’m the opposite, eating smaller meals throughout the day is annoying to me and I’d rather eat two large meals with my lifestyle, specifically at night. As always, thanks for the content 💪🏻
Ohhh myyyy goodness…. Your baby is absolutely adorable 🥰 Great video… 💪🏻
I started running b/c of you. Ty for being an inspiration
Nick is always n inspiration!
You're truly changing the game man. As an endurance athlete who's gotten into strength training pretty late I was always thought that I couldn't do both and that I had to leave behind my love for endurance events if I were to gain any significant amount of size and strength. You're living proof that this is not the case, and I've completely changed my approach to training based on your channel!
Thank you so much!
Hes only running 20 miles a week
@@user-nj1zu2nf1x Your point being? Of course he scales it back now that he is going for size but that was exactly what I was saying. After seeing Nick run a sub 2:50 marathon while being bigger than I'll probably ever be I now know that I can focus on building strength and muscle and still be able to do the Ironman events that I love.
@@noone-ld7pt oh ok. To me he just looks super fit
Yep best series ever... Who doesn't want to be a good runner and look jacked.... Thanks Nick!
@Nicegram 👉Nick_bare wow! You serious Nick ? I'm all the way in Vietnam , not sure if you can send it from Texas lol. But I'm happy to receive it, whatever it is :) btw I'm 43 and because of you I have hope ;)
Nick… I can attest to this 100%!
I did this hybrid-style working out for 1 year while I was in the Navy; I went from a healthy 200lbs and jumped to 235lbs of lean muscle. I continue to go through cycles where I’m doing this, all depends on what training for…
This is the path for full optimization!
What was ur rate, I'm an MM right now in the reserves. I came off of active in 2019 and just recently joined again this summer
Hey Nick! Thanks for another inspiring video! Quick question, cause I don't actually remember, do you have a coach? Thanks!
Great job Nick 😊

The advice here isn’t cosmic….. strength train and run and make sure you are in a surplus. What Nick Bare is leaving out is his test cycle.
That's what all these fitness "influencers" and TH-camrs seem to conveniently never mention.
Can you explain what you mean with test cycle? I have no clue what he's leaving out :)
They’re suggesting he is on testosterone….which he may very well be, but his physique isn’t unattainable natural….it’s possible he’s natural just not probable…either way I don’t care
@@chufstetler08 ah i see. Thanks for the answer :)
Hes seems natural, hes a big guy, must have proper nutrition and sex regularly
Nick casually warming up wit my max DL 😂 I love that shit, and than into a amrap wit it 💯💯
Great video as always! I’m headed in the other direction, I.e., aiming for fat loss, so I assume that I need to aim for 500 or so fewer calories per day. I do lift, although at the moment, increasing my strength is a lower personal priority than losing abdominal and overall fat. Thank you for the 500 calorie tip, though! I’ll rethink my goals when I hit my goal weight.
Thanks for this. I am skinny and I enjoy running but I want to gain more muscle.
awesome info
What’s the goal of eating more calories? To build muscle? To run faster? What’s your endgoal that you’re trying to achieve by eating a calorie surplus. I’m a lean but sculpted guy with a beer belly. I’m trying to lose my beer belly and only running has helped me to reduce my body fat content. What’s the appearance or performance you are personally shooting for with the program you described here?
We need to see Nick do a triathalon. I need that swimming and cycling content.
great content
you're a dawg!!! love your brand. what can i do to be sponser?

Do you have any videos on HGH or TRT and your experience or thoughts?
One of the biggest inspos I have gotta get back to running more with weights
Hey guys, what do you recommend ... when doing double sessions, run first in the morning, then strength training in the evening? Thanks
That's good done that cool
Leaving out the secret sauce my guy
Bro is a unit
I command you to grow ! 🙌 love that line
That would be the roids
Reminded me of CT Fletcher 💪
Can you suggest what should I eat or drink before the morning run?
Question from a rookie…I’m making strength gains but I’ve still got a good amount of fat to loose in the belly/love handle area. Should I be focusing on any sort of surplus or maintain a somewhat reserved diet? Right now I lift 3x a week and run 5-10 miles per week. Thanks everyone!
The answer to that is simple: trust the process. That’s the hardest area to lean out. Keep doing what you’re doing and adjust macros as needed
You’ll never lose it without a calorie deficit. Maintain a steady deficit until you have a physique you’re happy with, then consider whether you want to add weight and bulk
Go One More!!
Is this really Nick?
I wish you mentioned the volume of the other back/biceps exercises. Nice video though!
Hey Nick, thoughts on your digestion when bulking?

Nick’s bulk is an excellent example of muscle memory; both hypertrophy and strength related

Would bumper plates be applicable to his deadlift session? Just curious. Great content but probably more than I am willing to get into. This seems like too much intensity for me and not sustainable in the long run for my "natural" training. Am I wrong for thinking this way?
Get The Rock into your pain cave. Would love to see that workout session!!
What are the supplements you are using during bulking and running?

Raw! Love it!!!
nick how to you schedule in rest time between running and lifting? i don't think my cardiovascular system would be happy with me doing a run and a lift session in the same day at my age :(
cool shirt
putting Nick Symmonds and Ryan Hall to shame...but can you do the 500 deadlift and sub-five mile challenge?
The thing is, that you gotta be more specific. A pound of FAT is 3500 calories, but to build a pound of MUSCLE it's only 2700. A lot of experts would sugest that a 500calorie surplus is too much for most people. If you want to minimize the ammount of fat you gain during a bulk, the surplus should he closer to just 200, and go for a little longer. Also it's best to eat 5 times a day to maximize muscle protein synthesis.

ahhhh yes the michelin baby stage, my favorite i remember when my baby girl was a michelin baby. Id lay her along my forearm so she was pretty much a football with eyes looking at me and id tuck her in close to my chest, man i wish i could go back and relive just one of those days.

Great Videos!. When running 15-20k (12.5 miles) a week, when it comes to rep ranges in the gym what would you suggest to build muscle? I normally train in the higher 10-12 range but would you suggest heavier at 6-8? Thanks.
10-12 best for muscle growth
Is there any chance that you might make the running hat in the camo style?
