As a soldier, if you misplace 1 of your 300 bullets, you will get a serious punishment. But when the higher ranking general left thousands of weapons and equipment into enemy hands, they dont have to face with any consequences

The Talis were perfectly capable of standing their ground and fighting for significant periods of time in many areas in Afghanistan, to discredit them is to shame the warriors who died fighting them as well as the Afghan warriors who died fighting us. AFG was invaded shortly after stopping the poppy cultivation (C I A was likely using this as funding- they openly did this in the past in Southeast Asia).
It was hard to fully prop a compliant secular AFG regime and fend off the TB, thus, it appears the US decided to make peace with the TB and hand them all the equipment.
The TB currently (coincidentally) are allowing the poppy trade, thus allowing the C I A to receive a cut of the profits and becoming tenuous allies once again.
This also accomplishes another US geopolitical goal: containing China via preventing Chinese influence via the One Belt One Road infrastructure project.
With a destabilized AFG right on China’s border, Chinese investments in Central Asia are now in jeopardy, thus stopping China from influencing the region.

Not in the sense of anything new to learn, you just have to look at Afghanistan's history and you'll see the lesson for why you don't get involved repeated over and over. It wasn't really an overwhelming comeback, Afghanistan is a patchwork of different groups and tribes that never really had genuine interest in the type of nation-building attempted. In a very mountainous country with porous borders, cheap fighters accustomed to a rustic lifestyle will have a very easy time waiting around on the sidelines, waiting for their occupier to get tired of spending the immense amounts required to maintain a modern force in that environment.

Vietnam go There to save Innocent khmer civilians from suffering, and Hunt Down Pol Pot because he starts attacking Vietnam.
I'm questioning myself as well about that dictator..
Pol Pot went to France, Came back and rule cambodia under communist rules... but why did he go to the west? France is not a communist country.. was he being brainwashed by the west into thinking that's the way of ruling under communism? Is he doing this to let our people know that communist is bad?
Look at China 🇨🇳 world superpower in economics.. Russia the father of communism savior of the world by defeating and capturing Berlin in Nazi Germany. Still the has very strong military power.. even the US feared to this date. They don't kill off their smart resourceful people like Pol Pot did.
This feels more towards the west's plan rather than the east. In history book, yes he did commit genocide on the people ( especially, the smart, resourceful, and religious people ), but was he a puppet of the west? I still don't know. All I know is that he's dead and Vietnam prevent him from killing further. There are many statues in cambodia that shows Vietnam helped us escaped this dark Era. Yet the west said it's Vietnam's Invasion.. just like Russia and Ukraine... Right now.

IF they can climatize to a whole new set a warfare tactics IF they can properly utilize the equipment they've been given and IF they can do all of that while not giving an opening to one of their very back-stab prone neighbors.
Not even sure I'd be rooting for the Taliban government either... if there IS peace, it'll be through an iron fist.
That said, yeah, the Afghan people deserve a legitimate peace.
Hopefully the Taliban will be intelligent enough to realize that anything disturbing their internal peace - ie, re-enforcing bad laws, and subjugating certain peoples within their borders - doing that would open them up to outside attack. Sure the USSR and USA failed. But both were crippled by their own governments. Pakistan and Iran wouldn't really be held back by things like bad press, as their government controls their press.

The US also left because their 20 years to deploy troops on Afghanistan was done, which started in 2001 and ended last year.

    • @andrewhackney6286

@@rodrigofilho1996 I'm not going to deny that the Taliban is likely the most combat experienced irregular force on the planet, but that doesn't always translate well into being in a standing army. The individual soldier skills are likely there, but that doesn't mean that they can perform at the level that a proper military force would consider to be equivalent to being a commando. The word commando refers to units like the UK's Royal Marines and the US's 75th Ranger Regiment. I promise you that these guys are not that. A Ranger is still a high caliber soldier without the expensive kit. I don't think three months is enough time to convert an insurgent to a commando.
You also have to remember that the Taliban "beat" both the USSR and the US by simply waiting for them to leave, they didn't beat them on the battlefield. Any time they stood to fight against either the Russians or the Americans they were crushed, even by conventional troops, which is why they ended up resorting insurgency instead of open fighting.

@@gustavoritter7321 They defeated the Soviets using American equipment ( remember how the USA bragged about her 100.000 mercenaries? ) so really, the USA / other international allies like Pakistan defeated the Soviets, as that’s precisely what a proxy war is. A general who orders his troops forwards is victories despite not firing a single shot himself. The casualties in the air for instance are exclusively the result of foreign-manufactured equipment.
Following this event, other groups who had little to do with these original warriors and had taken over the country essentially SURVIVED for 20 years, hiding and using hit and run tactics. IF Ukraine today beats Russia, either in a shorter or drawn-out conflict, it is the first scenario aka. NATO aso. as a collective also beats Russia, not just the Ukrainians despite their formidable bravery being the catalyst. Even though fuel itself doesn’t do much, without it, no car runs a single mile.
The Taliban managed to destroy a puppet state ( an incredibly weak puppet state ) but not the coalition. Remember, there were only a few thousand international troops there who essentially kicked the Taliban out of their own stronghold, held them for two decades and then went "yeah no, we can not be bothered anymore, here, take these things and try holding them off yourself, good luck and thank for the experience" and then again, sure, with some minor chaos but absolutely MINIMAL losses.
Unless you actually talk about the Afghan army who, however, really was a big mess except for their elite forces who were, however far too few to make a difference against tens of thousands of terrorist rebels.
Also, humiliated the axis powers of Germany / Italy? By "winning" via hiding in their mountains and even more often, Pakistan, while not even managing to push out less than 20.000 international forces? Look at casualties, involved troops and employed strategies, then talk about who humiliated whom here.
Flashy infantry equipment doesn’t bring back their dead and Al Qaeda is a shadow of its former self. So despite the nation-building being a failure, the original war goals were met.
If I recall correctly the overall directive shifted in 2011 but winning and losing become very complex when both sides achieve their goals via a treaty. The Taliban don’t allow international terrorism and we ( coalition ) left the country. And again, "winning" becomes even odder when you win via a timeout without actually beating your opponent. This isn’t chess, this is war. If you want to drive out the invader, sure, you accomplish your goal but as the world moves on, certain victories come at a great penalty for the next round which ALSO defines how a victory is seen.
The British for instance won against the French but then lost a valuable colony. which had been a big part of the reason why they fought in the first place. And likewise, the French king celebrated victory over the English when the aforementioned revolution succeeded, only to lose his head a few years later. So again; not all victories are equal and sometimes, there is no true victory at all.

The fact that they took over in the first place shows that equipment doesn’t win a war or guarantee a victory. It’s all strategy. They can have the best gear but if they have a sub-optimal strategy, it’s all for nothing. A perfect example of this is ww2, the Allie’s had inferior equipment to the axis but still won anyway.

    • @jermainallen7176
      @jermainallen7176 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There's a lot more factors as to why the Allies won the war against the Axis compared to this one. Since we could go on and on about this, for one, you mentioned equipment. Axis equipment (for example, their tanks) were harder to replace and too complex mechanically to support compared to a for example, a Sherman which was cheaper, easily made, quicker to make and so versatile, it was able to be fielded with different main weaponry from different nations. Being bigger or having more armor doesn't make it better. The Germans found that out the hard way against the RAF (And its Commonwealth States) and USAF. Only other equipment I can think about is the Luftwaffe, which were virtually non existent after the Battle of Britain, and guns which didn't matter because most of the infantry were equipped with a bolt action rifle made before the war.
You can't compare this war to WW2. In both WWs everyone was trying to come up with the quickest way to kill each other, civilian or otherwise. American and British bombers were bombing Italian and German cities consistently day and night. To the East we had pissed off vengeful Soviets carving their way to Berlin. Further East, America dropped 2 A-Bombs on Japan. This war pales in comparison. If you think the US military would lose a full scale conflict against the Taliban even in their playground you're wrong. Throw the Rules of Engagement book out of the window and there wouldn't be a need for boots on the ground; just carpet bomb every city or hideout into submission. It would've saved alot more American lives compared to the stalemate that endured for 20 years. RPGs and AKs can't kill B29s 😂😂

    • @UsernameUnavailable-r7j
      @UsernameUnavailable-r7j ปีที่แล้ว

@@jermainallen7176 Although yes I think it would be highly unlikely we would lose in a “no holds barred” conflict against them, I don’t think it’s a reason that we should put our guard down and say “we could never lose”, just because we rank #1 in the world in terms of military hardware and structure. When I referenced ww2 I was talking more so about the obvious like tanks, planes, etc. ours weren’t as good as axis but our plan of attack was superior, which led us to victory even though we were technically the under-dog. On a personal level I think we should have been out of Afghan many years ago, and if we were, the Taliban wouldn’t have our equipment. Ideally, we should encourage real Afghan governmental forces to ensure that insurgent groups like the Taliban are stamped out as soon as they form, in order to reduce the likelihood that we’ll have a larger conflict that would require our presence there.
I’m sure that the conflict is more complicated than I’m aware of, but if we lend them hardware, it should simple things like guns, body plates, etc. Providing them with other things like troop carriers, apcs, and aircraft is extremely risky because if the insurgents get them, that’s a pretty decent problem we’d then have. Although through all this, I highly doubt that the Taliban can use any of it effectively anyhow, so I doubt it makes much of a difference

What makes your statement even more of a joke is how fast they got controlled of the whole country in less than a week, a feat that would not be possible if they didn't have control over significant amount of the country already.
