This video shows how to remove the cover from your C230 center storage console. I have another video where I did this on the car, but this one is on the bench where you can see a lot more.
My hands aren't big enough to push the tab at the front at the same time as pressing the buttons on the side, so I used a piece of scotch tape to hold it down. That's my top tip! Great video.
My issue is the cover won't sit, or I'm having a hard time putting the cover back. I didn't take it out on purpose, it came off when I opened the compartment and it never latched or closed anymore it is so annoying.
I would suggest that you try actuating the latches as I demonstrate in the latter part of the video where I show how to install the cover. It is possible that something is stuck, or a part is broken. The plastic on these cars is criminally poor and begins breaking more and more easily as time goes on. They really didn’t build these vehicles to last - even holds true for the high end Mercedes of this generation like my SL500, which was almost $100K when new.
Other youtube videos show this. But you lift the lid up and back and inside on rear wall are 2 slots. Put a flat head screwdriver into slots to release 2 tabs and the the whole lid , pull up
Once you get the first side attached you have to repeat the lever pressing sequence to depress the button on the open side. Once that button is locked in the depressed position, the compartment will close normally.
Hi, the front door handles broke on mine too, but they can be purchased from eBay for about $10 each and only take a few minutes to install. Then good as new. Let me know if you can’t find them and I’ll dig up the link for you. Best regards.
Thanks for your question - I can't make a video to show you that right now, but there are 2 rectangular black plastic latch pins that protrude from the sides of the lower armrest box near the front, one on each side. These latch pins will retract when the lid is fully closed (side to side), and you pull up on the front latch. They are designed to stay out when the lid is not fully closed so that you can't tip the top part back when it is open and stuff comes spilling out. I'm pretty sure that the thing that keeps those pins from being retracted is the inner front interlock button that you see me depress with the hand that I'm using to also press the side button. So, I think all you need to do is depress that interlock and pull up on the front latch, and those pins should withdraw and stay latched out of the way until you close the lid. If this doesn't help, I will look at posting a video for that procedure as well.
Actually, I haven't watched my video in quite a while, but just now reviewing it, I see that I show the above procedure in this video at about the 10 minute mark. Take a look there and see if that doesn't help you visualize what I've described above. Best of luck with it!
@@dalkeeper6143 thats about what I thought.. I can tell its free on the drivers side lower pin but the left side is still bound up and extended I guess... maybe has to do with the top lid? its all fidgety at moment but works but pops literally off the car if i open it up ..
The armrest in my 2006 C350 wouldn't close anymore, but with this instruction I could make it work again. Thank you so much!
Really glad this helped!
Thanks so much. Fixed this within minutes after years of driving around frustrated with a wobbly armrest.
So glad to help! Please subscribe and come back for more.

Thank you for your video. Do you have any video of how the whole armrest came off the middle compartment?
No I don’t, I bought the one in this video from eBay and just swapped the padded top.
