Hey Rudy, you can tell what year your truck is from the VIN. The 10th character of the VIN tells you the year. H=87, J=88. In the 80s and 90s the model year characters were letters starting with A for 1980 and ending with Y for 2000. I and O were skipped. Easy ones to remember are S=85 (S looks like a 5), L=90 (90 degree angle), V=97 (the word seven has a V in the middle) and Y=2000 (Y2K). From those you can work forward or backward to come up with the year of any car from that era.

The tacoma is very popular and does really well. I have to say however you just cant beat that classic Comanche look, I really like that rig. Nice job bringing her up to where she is. Thanks Rudy cant wait to see more of the Comanche.

I am a Toyota guy and Hollie is cool, but I love the Comanche! It is also a more special car/truck since you converted it. Looks shorter too which potentially makes it better off-road.
I like which ever one has the chicken and biscuits in it.

Im always down for a Comanche video. This is inspiring me to get mine out to Utah sometime. If it wasn't for the 3000 mile drive I'd have done it already.
Both trucks did well. Big tires definitely reduce acceleration performance, im genuinely impressed with the Comanche on the hill climb, the Renix 4.0 sounds like it could use a tune-up.

That's what I was thinking. I have a 90 Comanche with a Renix 4.0L, and I will say Rudy's isn't nearly as smooth running as it should be. The Camanche Club forums have a great list of tuneup items that will make a Renix 4.0 run like a top.

I had a 1990 Comanche 4x4, straight-6, manual transmisión . . . I think it was a 5-speed . . . 👀
and I now have a 2008 Tacoma 4x4, V6, manual 6-speed transmission as my daily driver . . .

Rudy threw that challenge! The hill climb says all you need to know about, which is a better offroad vehicle!
I know exactly where that first challenge hill climb is. I went right up it in my 2 door Suzuki Sidekick with a 4.24:1 tcase in 1st or second low low gear and aired down to maybe 1 or 2 psi. Suzuki for the win. In the Sand, lightest weight possible with the largest tire footprint you can fit is the ticket. Unless things get too too steep....then yeah go for high HP and paddles.
