    37k? It costs 34k here FULLY LOADED. With ALL the bells and whistles. I'd like to see you get luxury brand for that. I'd rather have a top of the line ford, than a base car anyday.

  • @stevehammes
    @stevehammes  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree that the backup cam does come in handy.

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    True. Most people aren't. For this Fusion, there's the SE and SEL model and you can put the same options, and the MSRP will be in the $28-30k range. Now, the engine would the 1.6L EcoBoost Turbo I-4, but has less hp at 178, but that's still plenty for most of us.

  • @76carmel

    I was at the Indianapolis Auto Show, and I did test MyFordTouch and found out that it wasn't as buggy as before. Actually, the demonstration wasn't buggy. It will take a couple model years in order to get it working consistently across the line.

    I'm used to MyFord Touch after having used it a million times, and in general I like it, BUT it could use a faster processor.

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a trend right now where there are some family sedans that are priced similarly to compact luxury sedans. The Fusion tested here at nearly $38k, the Accord Touring at around $34k, Kia Optima EX-L at $35k, Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE $34k, and Malibu Turbo LTZ at around $35k remember these prices are fully loaded.

    I've driven a number of Fusion models over the years and I think this new car feels more athletic but not as soft in the ride, if that's what you're in search of.

    I'm starting to see a lot of these on the road now and wow it really has some visual pop especially with the 18s and 19s.

    I kind of like these wide spreads in trim levels/pricing...gives consumers lots of choices.

  • @stevehammes

    Sorry to say that's what I recorded BUT with extensive time idling and quite a bit of hard driving while we were shooting.

    As you said, our tastes are different. Its a good thing too because then they can sell you the Ford and I can be happy with my Optima and everyone is happy.

  • @stevehammes

    How about the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and badge it as an SVT Fusion?

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There may be only one vehicle that may compare with this Fusion Titanium AWD and that would be the Subaru Legacy 3.6R. Subies come standard with AWD. It has more HP (256), but less torque (247 lb-ft). Also, it's a little less fuel efficient too (18 city/25 highway) and uses a 5-spd auto. Kelly, you're right about the fact that the heavy hitters (Accord, Camry, Malibu, Altima) do not have the AWD option. And this Fusion does (only in the 2.0L EcoBoost).

  • @stevehammes
    @stevehammes  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's been a while since my last Fusion test-drive but based on memory I felt like this Fusion was tighter and more connected.

    Damn fine car! Even at that MSRP! Myfordtouch on our '13 explorer is a gem to use. Not sure why all the fuss about it! All this car needs is a 6 speed manual inAWD Titanium guise!

    I didn't like the Fusion until I saw this video...great job. I was just about to shop for an Altima.

    Hey Steve, I love the color on this Titanium. Is this Ruby Red or Bordeaux Reserve? Deep Impact Blue is probably my favorite color on this new Fusion, but this is probably my second.

  • @TheMetalmachine467

    37 grand is for the fully loaded titanium model that comes with the works all features.
    there are other trims available
    Se,sel that are cheaper then the titanium.
    its according on what options you need and what you want to pay

  • @johnnyringo201
    @johnnyringo201 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    As always Steve, great video. You said that this compares with the accord, but the accord tops out around 30k. What's the extra 8k buying me in the fusion. Ford seem to have a pricing issue on their hands. Ex: Shelby mustang GT500 is priced at 65k+, which competes with the Camaro ZL1 is only 55k. Ford is pricing the middle class out. Why are all their cars so expensive? Ur thoughts?

  • @77rxpharmacy
    @77rxpharmacy 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm surprised I don't see any comments from typical know-it-alls who are often found saying things like, "for 37K dollars you can buy (insert car name) or (insert car name). I wouldn't buy this Fusion."
    Listen this Fusion is nice and we can (and should) forget about the badge. It's almost odd that Ford didn't market this car under a different name. With that said, I still don't see it. I think on this one I'll have to side with the know-it-alls and say 37K dollars is too steep for this car.

    Looks pretty nice. Sucks there's no V6 option. A V6 Fusion in the 300-350hp range and AWD would be pretty sweet.

    hmm i felt the 2012 sport felt a bit more athletic compared to the 2013. time to go spend more time in one. Thanks!!

  • @DevPack
    @DevPack 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey Steve have you driven the older gen Fusion? If so do you think the older gen was a better drivers car? That is what most of the major magazines like motortrend have stated. I own a 2012 Fusion sport and have driven the new Fusion and I have to agree with them. The 2013 is still a great car though!!

    Well, to be factual it's the 1.6-liter engine that catches fire and not the 2.0. And they promise the 4th recall will REALLY fix it this time ;-)

  • @94navin
    @94navin 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    but this doesnt have a v6. If you stay out of boost its a regular 4 banger producing somewhere around 160 hp. And if you go into boost your mpg does down

  • @toemoejoe
    @toemoejoe 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    the price of the fusion isnt as much as it is on here, like some others have said its about what options you add technically the accord and the fusion are around the same price ranges so really its about what you prefer more style or alittle more better performance

  • @DevPack
    @DevPack 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes i drove the 2.0 T FWD Titanium... It did not feel as engaged and sharp as my 2012 Fusion Sport. Now remember the 2012 Sport comes with a 3.5 v6 and sport Tuned suspension. Maybe I didn't spend enough time with the new fusion. I dunno... that's why I want an opinion from someone else.

    But with the as-tested price on this 2.0T example approaching $38K, wouldn't the Taurus SHO make more sense anyway? I'd guess the bean counters at Ford probably thought the same. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a massively powerful engine in the much lighter Fusion, but at what cost?

  • @Lukos0036
    @Lukos0036 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's certainly a very pretty car. But I'm hearing that it doesn't quite live up to it's mileage claims, a problem it shares with the c-max. And some American buyers are a bit put off by the overtly British styling. It pinches a bit to much from Aston and should probably do something to pull away from that brand a bit. Perhaps a different grill, or change the headlights a tad. Just so people stop making the comparison.

  • @JEGV.

  • @nismofury
    @nismofury 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This car looks better in photos than in person. Fine job on the exterior but the interior is a bit bland. Rides fine mpg is ok. Pricing varies from $22k - $35k fully loaded awd. It needs something to make it stand out. It needs something the competition cant offer. Nav should be standard with back up camera. It has a lot of competition the accord camary altima malibu charger sonata optima etc... price ford boys price. All good cars so hittem with price. Make it $1k less than the competition

  • @DevPack

  • @NeutralGenericUser
    @NeutralGenericUser 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not a bad car, but I'd rather get the Accord. It has way more features when fully loaded and is 35k; cheaper than the fusion. The interior of the fusion where I spend 99% of my time is also no match for the accord.

    still when you compare a ford to a toyota or a honda there no doubt their the leader in reliability. But i do agree this is a really nice car but really 47,000 where you could put i a Little more and get a infinity,lexus ect

    What people don't understand is that you pay for what you get, this is a great looking car, packed with useful features and has a build quality that is superior to those in its class. Therefore your wallet has to suffer (: so get over it.

  • @TekTrekgamer
    @TekTrekgamer 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have to say the exterior of this car is just off, in my opinion. Aston Martin looking or not this is still a Ford and I think Ford is sullying their Aston Martin brand by using its design queues on this offering. It certainly looks like Ford is erring to the side of European and Asian design ethic where they are not copying their Aston brand. The 2013 Accord is still a better looking and I would imagine more forward looking and reliable this this Ford.

  • @Rtvoll

    This fusion and the new escape have massive recalls where the engine catches fire. Did you forget to mention that Steve? Not to mention for charges you an arm and a leg for every little option. $37,000 for any ford is wayyyy touch as in 1 year it'll be worth $25,000 probably less. The accord is a better, more reliable, better looking and holds its value wayyy better. Ford sucks

  • @NeutralGenericUser
