Just searched for such a video..as I need to replace my Speedy RS bar end mirrors. as an avid follower of your channel, I have to hand it to you. You videos were pretty good back then and the improvement of both content and production value over the years is fantastic. well done. You've been incredibly diligent and hard working on all areas. 10/10. Keep up the good work.
Just installed my bar end mirrors after watching this video and wow. I can actually see behind me and I don't have to lean to one side to do so. I know many people go for heated grips as a must have but these are excellent. best mod I have done.
This answered a lot of my questions. Thank you. The documentation that comes with the OEM mirrors tells you to check the website and the website tells you to read the documentation that comes with the product. Ridiculous. LOL. Were it not for you, I never would have understood how to do this.
I have a stupid question but at 7:15 you use a mallet to get the fastener in...if you wanted to switch back to the stock mirrors how would you get that piece out? It seems like it would be really stuck in there.
+Scylene No it's no problem, I've taken them out before when I tried some el cheapo E-Bay mirrors, basically a screw driver and a pair of pliers lifts the soft plastic blank out no problem...cheers for watching - TMF
I've got the same bike as you apart from the arrows exhaust. The original bar ends are impossible to get undone. Such a small Allen key bolt for something so tight. Now the hex head has rounded off. Any ideas on what to do next? Many thanks for the video
Been thinking about changing my mirrors to these on my street triple r, price put me off a bit, put they look like good quality, think I'll be placing a order very soon. Thanks for the video.
+Triumph Gunner Yes they are excellent quality (much better than E-Bay specials!) and really add to the look - I don't regret getting mine....cheers for watching and for stopping by - TMF
Hi, thank you for your videos, they are excellent! Did you find the genuine triumph mirrors provided an improved view and didn't suffer from any vibration blurring? Thank you, Mike in Oz.
Hi ! Thanks for the video. I have a street triple 675 - 2007 model year. Where can I find the OEM mirrors? It’s been impossible for me to reach them out !
+Craig Perry Yes the view is definitely better outboard I've found, but they do look kind of mean inboard, even if the only thing you can see is your elbows :0) Nicely made bits of kit though......cheers for watching and congrats on being the first to comment! All the best - TMF
Can you have these mirrors the opposite way round and hang under the bar ends? not sure if it would look rediculous or not, good video none the less I thought it was a massive task to install them haha. Do more videos on the street triple please! :)
+MattAshton Hi Matt, yes they can be slung underneath no problem - I might give that a try for a laugh. Thanks for the encouragement! All the best - TMF
Great product and from what i've seen worth the money,,, just anyway. Had one Street Triple my self loved it. Watch all you video's thanks for the entertainment.
Lovely set of mirrors. They're needed more on the new Street Triple's than the old ones with those ugly stock mirrors. A set of those would look nice on a modern black Thruxton as well
I like those mirrors too, but ended up going with the crg lane splitter instead. I think it will be cool if someone develops a rear-view motorcycle camera that can be activated with a push button near the turn signal controls and turn on when a bike is stopped. Then we can all ride without mirrors!
Hello, i know its been a while since you’ve commented but I’m thinking of buying the crg mirrors but I’m unsure what adapter to buy to get them fitted. The billet they supply doesn’t seem like it will fit onto my handlebars since they have the little bore inside that you thread the bar protectors before? Thank you!
Hi I´ve got problem with similiar mirrors like this, but not by the Triumph. When i ride over bump or ride faster, the mirrors are bending down ( the part with mirror only ) and its very irritating.. Do you have some tip, for stucking them in one place? Thanks.
Hi TMF, could you tell me, does the bar end mirrors suffer from vibration or remain clear, i am waiting for my new STR (lrh) to be delivered the standard mirrors get blurry, that,s why i want triumph bar end ones, but don,t want to spend 160 to find they are also blurry, your advice would be very helpful, cheers.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thankyou, the loan STS that i have at the moment creates a blur at 60mph, anyway i have ordered the bar end mirrors to fit on the new STR when i get it, hopefully all will be good, love your channel, the MCN vids are great, i always share them on FB, best channel on YT, cheers Mate.
The bars come with an ally insert which is threaded on one side it came out with the origional bar cap but the other side stayed in place do you have any tips on getting it out?? Cheers Simon
+TheMissendenFlyer Hi Yes ive tried heat ive tried screwing the bolt right in to see if i can loosen it but it only wants to turn it further into the bars of course I have also tried tapping it round with a center punch . i do have a plan b but wondered if you and your followers had a clever idea
I'm intrigued; what's the alloy part on the red scissor stand (right of the frame) at the end of the video? The upper part looks like a carb but I'm not sure...
+Neil Capper Crikey you are watching closely Neil - I'm very impressed (and slightly worried!!). The "part" you refer to is actually a cylinder from our aeroplane engine - it's a 4 cylinder Lycoming and the cylinders are individually replaceable....that one is one that was found to be out of tolerance in its annual inspection and scrapped, and I kept it as a souvenir....I have the piston head and a valve from the same polished up in my study on display (it's huge!)....cheers for watching and great to hear from you again, hope you're well??
+TheMissendenFlyer Hahaha, I have no idea why that stood out to me, possibly because it's something that I had never seen before. It's interesting to know that the cylinders are individually replaceable and also slightly odd that just one of them would be out of tolerance. I would have thought that they would wear at the same rate. =\ I'm well, thanks. I've not had much time for TH-cam or even riding lately but hopefully that will change soon. I still have plans for a Dual Vlog channel with a friend of mine but free time is at a premium currently. Keep up the great videos. All the best.
+Neil Capper ....well when I say out of tolerance I think the head in that particular cylinder might actually be hairline cracked - as you can imagine the aircraft inspection regime is pretty rigorous and as soon as something is shown to be iffy they get replaced, hence the cylinders can be swapped out without having to replace the whole engine block. It's not that uncommon for significant bits of piston engines in aircraft to let go - they do after all operate at full power for large portions of their life (unlike a bike or car engine). Let me know when you get your new channel set-up, would love to be an early subscriber! All the best - TMF
the instruction manual you downloaded shows the mirror fitted differently. The pointed end of the mirro faces the inner side and not the outer side of the handlebars. your video shows them sticking further out from the bike thereby widening the bike dimensions. i tried in both positions your version allows beter viewing of rear traffic, but does not loo as good as the way the triumph instructions state.
i like the look of them but would struggle getting my bike through the doorway were I keep my bike,,with the extra width,, and would maybe reduce your filtering in a tight squeeze situation maybe,, I want to replace brake fluid res,, on my speed triple dot like the look of the plastic ones they look rubbish,,, good video take care shane
+shaneweightman Cheers Shane, I have the mirrors set inboard now and they look meaner (+ it solves the extra width issue). ....and agree on those plastic brake fluid reservoirs, it was the first thing I changed when I bought my Street Triple! Good to hear from you again - all the best - TMF
+tomination32 That particular one is the Triumph "comfort" gel seat, I also have a custom one I switch out with from time to time as the mood takes me.....thanks for watching - TMF
Do you recommend a beginner rider keeping the stock mirrors on with the bar end sliders installed in case the bike is dropped, I'm assuming one crash and those $100 mirrors are done. Thanks for the video and your advice.
They look good but wondered about two things. 1. I have seen people riding with them below the bars rather than above, did you consider that? 2. Is there a folding version that doesn't vibrate too much? (I know parking here in France the last thing you want is extra pointy things for your fellow bike riders to knock as they park :) )
Hi, new to the biking world and I have recently discovered all your awesome videos. I'll shortly be picking up a street twin..... Are the bar end mirrors for that as straight forward to fit yourself do you know? Any advice greatfully received ☺️thanks Henry
Funny. Everybody wants the opposite of what they have. My ST 2018 has bar ends but I don’t like them because they break first time I dropped the bike on my first day. Grrr. I wanted to switch them to centered types or even after markets. In the end, I just replaced with the same oem bar ends. They work well. After markets have some complaints with vibration and such. Oem are nice quality. Too expensive. I’ll add some bar ends for protection, perhaps.
+HarriR09 You're quite right, my opening shot was out of focus - the perils of filming yourself!!! Must try harder.......thanks for the kind comments - all the best - TMF
i like them but i do not want to have them because it would make my bike wider and that would stop me from manovering between the cars in the traffic hours
+Boodieman72 Yeah, it is a taste thing, which is partly why I held off - I've decided I do like them (they look better inboard). On the visibility front they are "adequate" ;0) Cheers for watching - good to hear from you again - TMF
I know a lot of bikers have the mirror at the low point. My Honda NC 700X DCT is a lemon, so I am trying to get my money back on it and buy a 2011 BMW R1200RT.
Totally wrong mate the cheaper ones work great £25 with the tint from Swansea and that's the pair, they take some getting used to so if you don't like them or can't get used to them you haven't broke the bank, ride safe Dude
@@TheMissendenFlyer what's wrong with the view? I've considered these mirrors, and feel the view would be ok/better than standard (Speed Triple 955) as the angle is greater, BUT...they are so small! I just don't feel the overall view can be as good, when the actual mirror is tiny... I put some on, then returned them straight away as I just felt I was looking through a keyhole behind me... How do you find them, practically, compared to stock? Thanks, stay safe.

@@TheMissendenFlyer I persevered with it and got it with a stud extractor. Just need to do the same on the other side 👍
Sometimes they use loctite. Be careful.
Is there a cover for the other side, where the fluid reservoir is, or are you stuck with that dull bolt? ( @7:03)
Yes if I recall correctly without going out and checking there is....
