    In Puerto Rico we have a dilemma only the north part of the island call these pastelillos the rest of the island call them empanadillas. Pastelillos are pastry dough treats usually sweet and sold at local bakerys sometimes you get them filled with meat but the shapes are square or round and oven made. Empanadillas are made with normal flour dough and can be folded or pressed with fork or a clamp then deep fried Just like yours. Either way , Good job making them.

    I would have put the juice from the meat into the rice

      That could be an option if you’d like.. but that would take from the authentic flavor of the rice 😊

    Is there a particular brand of rice and size of rice to use? And how much rice did you use on that pot?

    • @heatherrodriguezzz

      Any medium grain rice will do and I use about 4-5 cups of rice for this size pot. 😊

      The beauty of the many different cultures is the many ways to say what something is. My husband is Puerto Rican and what me as half Mexican would call an empanada, he calls a pastelillo ☺️ thanks for the view!

    • @annakquinn7084
      @annakquinn7084 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@heatherrodriguezzz if you are going to called it Puerto Rican food, you have to use the correct term. It’s an Empanadilla, the Pastelillo is made from hojaldre. It’s a dish inherited from Spain. The objective is to educate people, not confuse them.

    • @heatherrodriguezzz
      @heatherrodriguezzz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually the objective with my video is to show people how to make Puerto Rican food and my Puerto Rican husband and all his Puerto Rican family call these, Pastelillos. Again, isn’t that the beauty of many different cultures.. ☺️

    • @annakquinn7084
      @annakquinn7084 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @heatherrodriguezzz
      @heatherrodriguezzz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @AnnaKQuinn so ALL of my husbands entire Puerto Rican family ( & it’s a big one) are wrong when they say pastelillo? 😅 ok! Actually respect all around is beautiful! So the proper way to comment could’ve been something like, “hey in my culture they call those this or I’ve heard people in other cultures call those this” not come onto MY video and out of the many views it has be the only one telling me that my Puerto Rican husband and his family are wrong for how they speak and have spoken their whole lives.. but, nonetheless, thanks for the view! You have a blessed day now ☺️
