  • Japanese multimeters, that do not evoke anything, qualities of which one keeps exploring when using them, as they are designed thoroughly to be most effective for professional work. May it be out in the field, or in a lab, These DT4256 and DT4261 show themselves off in any application their functions cover. Being designed and made in Japan, they represent top quality instruments paired with 3 years warranty to back up their reliability.
    Many thanks belongs to Teste - testovací technika s.r.o. company, that was happy to lend them for me to review, so the word about another uknown great instrument brand is spread among technicians and engineers all around the world.

    Brymen is much better than UNI-T, but hands down the Japanese designed and manufactured Hioki's are the best around, anyone that knows Electronics knows the Japanese really produce high quality and innovative devices

    I own a dt4282, it's similar to dt4261. These hiokis are lightning ⚡ quick on most functions, but people say these are slow on capacitance.

    Well done. Appreciate the huge work you have put into testing them. I have actually watched the entire video.
    I have just got my DT4261 (with Bluetooth Adapter). I went outside in the sunlight and straight away checked the readability of the display. It was excellent at all angles. The bad part (and they all do it) is the reflections of the high gloss display. My work Fluke 83 didn't have those issues after 25 years of usage as the high gloss was worn off. Surely by now, they could make a matt display by now. Real Users/Electricians/Technicians use their equipment in all kinds of conditions. Even my RF Testset has been used outside in full sunlight to capture interference. They need to stop thinking that we use our equipment indoors only. Otherwise....very pleased with it and I have made the right choice for my next Multimeter.

    I have the same 4261.
    Voltage readings are incredible fast. Ay the begging seems to be disturbing the constant beeping and reading loq resistance and harmful voltages, but at the end you come to realize that’s useful. I have 2 Brymens, those are extremely boring multimeters as well as flukes. I have some flukes and I can say this 4261 has become my favorite one. I will buy a second one.
    Good review. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽

    Hello from Australia :-). Thanks for your detailed review. I picked up one of these on eBay, I wish it was easier to buy Japanese products, I usually have to buy them in Japan but tool shops usually never have specialised tools like this. If you ever visit Japan, check out the tool shops ;-)

      Hioki has some official distributors, who are the only ones for given area. It sure has some advantages and disadvantages, but at least, one can get them the most official way with support etc.

    Hioki was my first multimeter, back then they had an analog version and I still have it although I have burned some of its internal components while I was trying to measure current. I am planning to get one of their new models and I am will go either with DT4261 (for its bluetooth capabilities) or DT4282. I expect to see more real-time bluetooth enabled multimeters from other vendors also.

    How times change. When I bought a Hioki multimeter as a tech high school student in Turkey some decades ago, it made me look like a looser among other students who chose Fluke. Nowadays Hioki is deemed as good as Fluke...

      Well in 70's, 80's, Japanese tech products (ecluding consumer electronics) had the inferior status of Chinese products today. So your school mates were right!

    I watched another review of dt4261 the reviewer didn't like it because of its low diode mode voltage and slow capacitance reading and because it's also more expensive than most of the midrange meters but after watching your video I realised that they totally missed the point they didn't explore its blutooth function and the related stuff at all it isn't just another ordinary midrange meter it's packed with features that you won't find in some meters twice its price so it matters who is doing the review a very good could be made to appear terrible when it goes into wrong hands

    • @bekrstechnologies
      @bekrstechnologies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I didnt manage to find any english spoken reviews for DT4261, so it may be one of the other languages I dont understand. Anyway, the bluetooth is something, that adds so many options, one has to cover when reviewing such a multimeter. Exactly as you said, some functions, like FFT, THD and crest are not found even in twice as expensive meters.
      Review, test, or measurement is always as good as the skill of the person who is performing it. Also, some people don't bother to give it such a long time to explore everything. I personally try to use any instrument I review for at least 14 days and only after then I review it.

    Considering Hioki DT4261 Multimeter to complement my Fluke 98 Series II Automotive ScopeMeter among others:
    - Fluke 787B Process Meter
    - Fluke 87V MAX Multimeter
    - Fluke 88V Automotive Multimeter
    - Fluke 3000 FC Multimeter
    - Hioki CM4375-50 Clamp Meter

    What Hioki would you recommend for working on consumer electronics?

    • @bekrstechnologies
      @bekrstechnologies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That depends on the respective electronics. One needs a good multimeter and a scope. I would go for DT4282 as it has 3,6-4,4 volts for diode test and adjustable threshold. Review for this piece will arrive before christmas, or in june

    • @DragonlordSVS
      @DragonlordSVS ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bekrstechnologiesit's also far more accurate and with better (lower) scales for electronics, especially for current measurements. The DT4261 (as well as the 56) is more of an advanced electrician's DMM well basically it's exactly that, while the 82 is lab oriented.
