I love how with all of the Furious Rajang examples, there's always that split second before it cuts to the next turf war where Rajang immediately starts sprinting directly at the hunter. That is one angry monkey.
Rajangs are the only monsters you can't reliable run away from. For other monsters, as soon as you run out of the area, they're too slow to catch up and will stop the fight. Rajang will chase you to the ends and even beam attack you from halfway across the map.

I tried to escape it by running with palamute but little did i know he chased me until the end of the map lmao
To those wondering, Espinas was stated in Frontier to have frequently fought with Kushalas in the past. Their armor is so good that they have nothing to fear aside from Elders and even then their strength can match some of them.

I think that’s one of my favorite new turf wars outside of Malzeno v Scorned Magna. Wolf V Wolf and they each use different elements so it was cool so see them face off
Alpha Wolf vs Alpha Wolf. So many opposing perspectives here, but it's all cool to see. And yes, the double howl as they don their respective elemental armors.

If one combatant can intimidate the other into backing down by showing off how big it is, then that's energy saved and possible crippling injury prevented to both parties. That's literally what "sizing up" means. Rise may not have leaned as hard into the environmental interactions like World did, but it had plenty of moments that showed the monsters were actually just exceptionally large and powerful animals, and this is one of the great examples.
I always liked how the turfwars show that just because a monster is stronger to hunter doesn’t mean they’re stronger to other monsters. Espinas vs. kushala is a great example. Espinas is less dangerous to hunters than kushala, but kushalas tornadoes are useless against something as bulky as espinas, so it forces him into a fight of brute strength. Which really isn’t kushalas strong point.
Magnamalo needs more varied turf wars in general… As a “function over form” kind of guy myself, I can see why Magnamalo does the same thing over and over with flying enemies when it usually works so well (plus it turns the turf war into another attack against the player in itself), but it’d be nice if we have some turf wars against monsters that don’t fly. We already have a good idea on how _Those_ engagements go anyway, so they can just build up from that.

Invisible chameleon can fly, doesn't use powerset, by making them super binary they show the problem many people have with comics that characters powerset is just what the ploy needs them to be. And magna as the super edgeboy who needs to feel validated needs to be strong enough to handle elder dragons when just about every brand new big boi can since it's a power metric that in reality matters next to nothing. When you consider that they are animals not anime protagonist.
@@christianlangdon3766 My recommendation for Magnamalo in future games would be to A: straight up make it an invader monster in the same league as Rajang and Deviljho that appears late game, to make sure it’s level of power at least makes _sense_ from a game and lore perspective, and B: Throw in new turf wars against other kinds of enemies. They can follow the criteria of doubling as an attack against careless players (like smaller monsters like Odogaron can be repealed by a violent hellfire explosion that bulldozes players in the way as it ragdolls into the distance). Also, kinda unrelated, but have you ever played _Evolve?_ I loved the game and hated how it died off with such indignity when worse games power on with so much worse against them. I would LOVE for Capcom to take the 5 monsters from the game (with their variants) and release them with the master difficulty of the next game that goes multi-console.

that always tends to happen in a lot of Mizutsune 'draws' even if he gets wyvern-ridable he always manages to water-blight the opponent with his bubblefoam which is a nice little detail... makes sense in a way seeing as trying to pin it is basically the monster equivilent of holding onto a wet bar of soap.

Gotta say, my favourites was Zinogre vs Lunagaron, Malzeno vs Lunagaron and Malzeno vs Scorned Magnamalo. The double howls by Zinogre and Lunagaron was such an epic start to a fight between two alpha wolves, Malzeno choking Lunagaron with its tail and making it squirm helplessly was so cool, and Malzeno and Scorned Magnamalo parrying their claw, then tail attacks, then Scorned Magnamalo tanking it Malzeno’s Bloodblight beam and actually still damage it was *chef kiss* perfection
It took around 30+ hours before I saw my first turf war. I'm around ~60 hours in now and have not seen another one. Thank you for posting these as I really didn't think they even existed until a bit ago.
Magnamalo vs. Barioth was actually in the base game at launch. As well, while not added in Sunbreak, the patch from a few days ago added Rajang's Turf Wars with Teostra and Kushala Daora, as well as a new one between Rajang and Bazelgeuse.
Okay, just watched it. Love how it begins the same as with other flyers, but then in true Bazel fashion he just starts exploding in Rajang's face and does a divebomb on him.

Only something that small with 'Garon' in their name would be insane enough to attack an Elder Dragon. We saw Odogaron do it in World, and Lunagaron now does it too.
World and Iceborne built up the Elder Dragons so that Sunbreak’s Wyverns could tear them back down. It’s neat seeing the dragons be just more parts of the ecosystem.

the turf war concept is such a cool idea. people has been debating about which monster would win in a fight for as long as Monster Hunter exist. World made this into reality, but even now in Rise, they are limited for a few monster match up only. I hope they made every monster would get in a turf war the first time they meet each other rather than just wack each other 1 time and leave
As magnificent as Magnamalo v. Malzeno was the two turf wars I needed to see was Goss v Rajang for a Slug’n Beam battle and Astalos v Serigios for a high speed aerial dog fight
Realistically Rajang destroys Goss. Sure, monke is weak to ice, but he can kick an elder dragon’s ass and hulk smash a Rathalos without breaking a sweat. Goss is just a local apex predator. Sure, it’s tough, but nowhere near Rajang’s level.
Scorned Magnamalo is everything a variant should be(Both abilities and design-wise)! Very few variants distinguish themselves from their base forms(Usually it's just element change or color swap or both). Scorned vs Malzeno is probably the best turf war in this 5th Gen.
I don't think variants have ever been color-swaps or element changes. That was what subspecies were (including Iceborne). Variants were always just the base monster, but more. Also, I can't help but notice that he's technically Apex Magnamalo.

There are 2 types of monster hunter fans. Those that appreciate the monsters as animals abd the envoironment they live in... and those that just want everything to be as anime as possible

Ever since turf wars was added in mhw there so fun to watch monsters just destroy each other and from a design stand point turf wars makes the monsters feel like there animals fighting over food
Zinogre vs lunagaron was just awesome two of my favorite monsters going head to head like true warriors and that stared down before fight start made it feel like this fight was personal
That's it, wrap it up. Malzeno vs Scorned Magnamalo is the best Turf War in Monster Hunter. It's not even close. The choreography and how they both perfectly utilize their toolkit, just 'chefs kiss'
Malzeno Vs S. Magnamalo was pretty awesome. The clashes between their blows, Malzeno grabbing Magnamalo with its tail, and it ending with Magnamalo charging through Malzeno’s beam, only for it to explode, damaging both and ending the interaction, was very badass.
Ok, I love the acknowledgement of Espinas's lore in his Kushala Turf war, but good GOG the Scorned Magnamalo vs Malzeno Turf War is the single coolest thing I've ever seen! Like, the rest of Scorned Magna's Elder turf wars are reusing base Magna's, which is fair. But Scorned walks up to Malzeno and says "Let's give these bitches a show!"
Malzeno vs Scorned Magnamalo is easily the single best turf war in the entire game. They were on equal footing the entire time, and it was epic to see!
i love how some turf wars are meta rivalries the 4-4U rivalry of Gore and Seregios two of Generations' Fated Four in Astalos and Mitsu and of course, SunRise's new flagships of Magnamalo and Malzeno
sad to see Magnamalo and Rajang have a bunch of heavily re-used ones, especially for vs the Elder Dragons, also surprised nothing new involving Vaalstrax
I love how Malzeno trying to bite Magna neck but maybe it's body was to big and hard or it looking for the neck or maybe the aura was so thick that malzeno can even bite it.
Dangit we finally have B52 and Steve together and not a single interaction between them :( But my god is Morbius vs Mangalmao damn fine, dracula vs samurai never looked this badass (Also Morb vs dog, Astalos vs Mizutune and Steve vs Edgy are goated)

As far as I know, Rajang used to be the only non-Elder Dragon that could beat an Elder Dragon in a turf war. Even Savage Jho could only get a draw at best. Magnamalo is on something else.
Magna is easily the strongest of the Fanged Wyverns. Now there's an Elder Dragon-level monster in all of these categories: Fanged Beast (Rajang), Fanged Wyvern (Scorned Magnamalo), Flying Wyvern (Bazelgeuse), and Brute Wyvern (Deviljho). Can't wait to see the Elder Dragon-level Leviathan and Amphibian. Or a Neopteron that can just shred through stuff.

I really love the fact that Sergios and Gore have a turf war since They’re were a major part of 4U story. Also Lunagaron’s turf wars are brutal.
I like how Gore overpowers Seregios, but still loses because it's young and inexperienced. Shagaru tho, is clearly having none of that 😂

You can really feel the struggle between the two monsters for power over another in each animation.

Scorned Magnamalo is everything a variant should be(Both abilities and design-wise)! Very few variants distinguish themselves from their base forms(Usually it's just element change or color swap or both). Scorned vs Malzeno is probably the best turf war in this 5th Gen.
I don't think variants have ever been color-swaps or element changes. That was what subspecies were (including Iceborne).
Variants were always just the base monster, but more.
Also, I can't help but notice that he's technically Apex Magnamalo.

And I noticed that too about Scorned. I wonder if they're going to make it the Magnamalo who fought with Narwa since the apexes are monsters who survived the Rampage.
There are 2 types of monster hunter fans. Those that appreciate the monsters as animals abd the envoironment they live in... and those that just want everything to be as anime as possible

Ever since turf wars was added in mhw there so fun to watch monsters just destroy each other and from a design stand point turf wars makes the monsters feel like there animals fighting over food
Zinogre vs lunagaron was just awesome two of my favorite monsters going head to head like true warriors and that stared down before fight start made it feel like this fight was personal
Malzeno vs Maggy and Luna vs Zinogre are by far my favorites
Mal vs magna are tied for best turf war ever made with savage jho vs elemental dragons in my opinion

Malzeno impaling Lunagaron was so brutally cool, but seeing Rajang slam Rathalos by the tail in game made my jaw drop.
That's it, wrap it up. Malzeno vs Scorned Magnamalo is the best Turf War in Monster Hunter. It's not even close. The choreography and how they both perfectly utilize their toolkit, just 'chefs kiss'
Malzeno Vs S. Magnamalo was pretty awesome. The clashes between their blows, Malzeno grabbing Magnamalo with its tail, and it ending with Magnamalo charging through Malzeno’s beam, only for it to explode, damaging both and ending the interaction, was very badass.
Ok, I love the acknowledgement of Espinas's lore in his Kushala Turf war, but good GOG the Scorned Magnamalo vs Malzeno Turf War is the single coolest thing I've ever seen! Like, the rest of Scorned Magna's Elder turf wars are reusing base Magna's, which is fair. But Scorned walks up to Malzeno and says "Let's give these bitches a show!"

As far as I know, Rajang used to be the only non-Elder Dragon that could beat an Elder Dragon in a turf war. Even Savage Jho could only get a draw at best. Magnamalo is on something else.
Magna is easily the strongest of the Fanged Wyverns.
Now there's an Elder Dragon-level monster in all of these categories: Fanged Beast (Rajang), Fanged Wyvern (Scorned Magnamalo), Flying Wyvern (Bazelgeuse), and Brute Wyvern (Deviljho).
Can't wait to see the Elder Dragon-level Leviathan and Amphibian. Or a Neopteron that can just shred through stuff.
Magnamalo always ties with Elders. Espinas does have a random chance to actually beat Kushala, but it's not a guarantee.
