Father Broom, so if I did not do a good confession the day before my wedding, that means I did not receive the Sacrament of matrimony and I need to go back and do a good confession in order to receive the sacrament? So that means I'm still not married? Or do I need to re-marry again?

Whenever I go to confession I feel rushed due to the Priest being at my parish only for a little time and many people wanting to go. I get nervous and often forget what I went in to confess and end up making a weak one. I feel like I should write down my sins to take to confession but then I’m afraid someone in my family will find the paper and read my sins. Priests nowadays don’t have time. They have too many parishioners and very little time for us. Our priest has many parishes that he visits and he barely has time for himself. Bless his soul.

And, by the way "glaube allein" was isolated by the disturbed Martin Luther, who dropped the original words in that phrase. Those words are "nicht" and "durch". Nicht allein durch glauben: not by faith alone. The crafty Luther wanted to eliminate the entire book of St.
James. Instead he threw out 7 others. I continue to be curious as to why people enjoy coming to Catholic sites to scream at them. Strange.

Don't leave him out! Because it will end up leaving you out! When I say you I mean we. God bless your heart read your Bible! Read your Bible for yourself! And you'll find the answer in there and it's different then what some people tells you. They're on his hearted. But but they are mistaken in a lot of things. That will keep you out of heaven! Christ set this up through His Church; You had better take this up with Him.
John 20:22-23 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

God bless you sweetheart. I would seriously encourage you with no fail, to read your Bible! Which is the word of god! It will contradict some of our beliefs that we've been taught. The word of God is true Pier truth!.. confession I suppose it's a good thing. But it takes repentance to God. That we must do.. only God is worthy of your repentance. Could I say our repentance. God is the only one that can forgive you from your sins against him! Our sins is against God's word. Therefore it is him the Almighty. And there can't be but one Almighty. That can forgive you of your sins against him. I guess his Commandments against his word! God is the savior! God is the only one and I repeat God is the only one that can forgive our sins against him! I confession is just telling a man how unworthy we are. He cannot forgive you as far as salvation's concern there's not a man on the face of this Earth never was and never will be able to forgive your sins against God! God is the savior! Please read your Bible, don't be deceived. People are very honest hearted in most cases concerning religion, but they're very mistaken in most cases. Do not trust a man to tell you how to be saved! Read your Bible! And the Bible says in the book of Acts 2:38! God bless you and your journey for truth. Please don't fail to do this!

I like “general confessions” every ten years and before next birthday (70) due again ……. Are you one of the Mercy Fathers appointed by the Vatican during the year of Mercy! Tip from a returned Catholic after 40 plus years
Adore the sacrament of confession, the grace is just incredible
Write it all down and keep a little notebook beside you so as you are shown something you can jot it down, we are like an onion, the more we are peeled, the more layers we have, better doing it here than goodness knows how long in purgation on the other side, the holy spirit is just amazing but we must call on him constantly
If I cannot remember how many times for something because it's been a lifetime of repeated sins for example, gossiping,
I have said for all the multiple millions of time I have gossiped, all the harm done to everyone and everything I have forgotten. I find looking at the sins listed in Fr Ripperbergers prayers for the laity a great reminder then each time I go to confession I confess as accurate as possible
We fall every day, we are fallen humans, that's why he tells us to forgive 7 times 70 and not to go to the altar if we have a grievance with our brother
Humbling ourselves in confession I have come to see as the greatest act of love we can give our creator as it shows our dependence in his mercy and it destroys pride in us the devils greatest weapon against us
Also, pray for your confessor before confession and communion that God prepares him, it brings us more grace and see everyone who is not so nice to you as God himself disciplining you, that's just been a game changer for me, cuts the legs off my big ego trying to show itself and t gr e ot bf er person in not getting a rise off me always seems to soften
Friends, if I could help anyone it would be to prepare for the greatest joy of their life, a good confession as God himself and all of heaven rejoice for us in that moment we are akin to the Angel's themselves before we fall again. Happy Confessions the way to the gate of heaven.

When my husband and I got married we had no idea we should make a confession first. No one told us. Not the priest we met with nor at our Pre-Cana retreat. In fact as a teen in the late 70s and 80s we got the message at church that it was acceptable to use our own consciences in matters such as birth control, divorce, etc. Confession was not promoted. The confessionals were ripped out of our churches. I feel very cheated.

    • @janetotto796

We pray every day for our church and conversion of our church, country , family and ourselves.
Now I find good shepherds…there any many thank God. Forgive is all we can do and work on our new awareness and follow Jesus. Repent of our sinfulness and be so grateful for God and Jesus, Mary and all the saints to lead us and keep us on path of eternal life.

I would like to add one more thing to the list: Ask the the priest to turn off his cell phone to preserve the sanctity of the sacrament. Phones record and listen, specifically to pick up key advertising words. Just saying, if your sin is that of a sexual nature, a priest can get hit with an improper ad next time he accesses the internet from his phone. The confession should be between you, the priest and our Lord.
There should be no one else listening or tracking in hopes of adding to their search algorithm.

Agreed. That's why the priest is in "persona Christi" during confession. Authority and apostolic succession are critical to understand here. Jesus gave Peter the keys to bind and loose. Matthew 16:19. In Jewish legal terms, this means they get to decide what is allowed and forbidden. Peter was the first pope of the Catholic Church.

So sad, those who comment "thinking" they know what Holy Scripture actually teaches as if it was a book in a "vacuum" and not "entrusted" to the one Holy Catholic Church, guided by the Holy Spirit, down through the ages and still being unfolded. As Our Lord said to His Disciples, to the effect that: Whoever hears you, hears Me and I have many things to say to you but you cannot bear them all, when the "Spirit of Truth" comes. He will lead you into all Truth.Thank you, Jesus, Amen 🙏

The problem I have is my sins are vast and many. I've gone to confession recently after 40 years last week. There were very bad sins that I confessed, but at a certain point I froze. The Priest absolved me of my sins confessed, and the sins I can't remember. Even since that confession, i've remembered many others. I felt better, but still laden. I'm going back next week with more. I could take up the entire time allotted by the priest with the sins I've committed. I'm not sure what to do, but I think I should confess all that I remember, even if they occur to me later, despite the absolution of my sins that I couldn't remember at the time. I want to be clean when I take the Eucharist. I don't want to offend God further, although I did by missing mass on Sunday, having confessed on Saturday. I don't want to mess this up, because I am certainly hellbound. I pray throughout the day for guidance from the Holy Spirit. I don't want to take the Eucharist and remember a sin later, and feel horrible for offending God again.

Write, speak of My mercy. Tell souls where they are to look for solace, that is, in the Tribunal of Mercy [the Sacrament of Reconciliation]. There the greatest miracles take place [and] are incessantly repeated. To avail oneself of this miracle, it is not necessary to go on a great pilgrimage, or to carry out some external ceremony; it suffices to come with faith to the feet of My representative and to reveal to Him one's misery, and the miracle of Divine Mercy will be fully demonstrated. Were souls like a decaying corpse so that from a human standpoint there would be no [hope of] restoration and everything would already be lost, it is not so with God. The miracle of Divine Mercy restores that soul in full. - Diary of St Faustina #1448
