@Pasqua Can I encourage you to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation even if you don't like the priests in your area? As long as he's a validly ordained priest, the absolution you receive is a valid absolution. I'm so sorry you struggle with bad priests in your area. We have the same problem in our Dioceses we seem to be going through a crisis in our Church but at the same time if you take some time to do the research, we still have some wonderful and holy priests who are well-formed, and who continue to transmit the Faith the way it's supposed to be. Don't lose hope! Pray to Our Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady of Sorrows for guidance and assistance in finding a holy priest who can hear your confession. But please don't put it off entirely if you're not able to find a priest to your satisfaction. It's better to prepare yourself properly, make the best confession you can, and receive absolution for your sins. I will add your intentions to my Holy Rosary tonight. May the Lord bless you and strengthen you and may Our Blessed Mother assist you in your time of need.

A friend invited me with her last week. It was a neighboring parish and prayed Holy Spirit would help me ……WOW - careful but you pray for but was so cathartic / no excuses ….and definitely Holy Spirit using my mouth. Father was wonderful. I thought I was in there long time but it was start to finish four minutes LOL …. And after not a great one to someone I knew, this was fabulous!!!!
Careful 😊. I've confessed with Fr. Broom 3 or 4 times. He's blunt, as in he doesn't beat around the bush.When I was going to St Peter Chanel, my main confessor was Fr. Craig, who was so gentle. Fr. Craig also would write down names, such as of sick family members, so he could pray for them. So blessed to be Catholic and to have the sacraments!
To think that I almost didn't convert to Catholicism because I was Terrified to confess my sins to a man (priest, obviously). But by the time it came around to my first confession, I had become friends with my priest. I chose to go to him because I knew he loves me. I was Terrified, but father helped me. I still get nervous, but I always ask the priest to pray for me, and that always helps.
This was really helpful. I’m going on a pilgrimage to Italy next week and have been looking for a good examination of conscience. I couldn’t make the confession times so I contacted my parish to set up another time that way I feel like I have time to do a good confession which I never feel like I have. Prayers for a good confession for me tomorrow!
