+Super Hooper I'm disappointed in The Force Awakens because at that point the entire first order starfigher fleet should be tie interceptors instead of tie fighters because by rotj they were already moving towards getting the tie fighters out and interceptors be the main ship because they were faster, cheaper, and had more weapons. And the rebels or what ever they are called should have more A Wings because that is what they were moving towards.

Well coming from a amature armor nut. The crotch area is very hard to protect without limiting movement. Being that Royal Guards, are trained with melee and martial arts, they need that movement!

Jhon Alex Those were Red Guards not Imperial ones, Imperial are also superior to the Red Guards in combat and stuff since they were kitpicked by the Emperor for their combat potential and unbreakable loyalty to him and go through years of insane training.

The problem with having "elite" royal guards is that, it makes one wonder, in Episode Six, why did Palpatine only have standard royal guards with him? Why not shadow guards and sovereign protectors and shit? Did the other types of guards have something better to do than PROTECTING THE LEADER OF THE ENTIRE GALAXY?!?!?

maybe because all of this was created after the films. that's why the EU bugs me- there's very little original contribution; they just build on what already exists. You make it seem like this whole SW universe was mapped out to include all of this an Lucas just took tiny bits from it, but Lucas created it and these things came later. To Lucas, the creator of this universe, many of these characters don't even exist.
We got Death Troopers in Rogue One. Any other cool concepts would likely be in video games.
Drinking game : take a shot every time you hear the word Guard
I recently came up with this idea for an Imperial Special Forces Guard, basically like a bounty hunter but in the imperial military, and like an imperial guard they answer directly to the emperor himself. They usually specialize in the elimination of force sensitive children, and higher up rebels, with their specialized weapon being an electrostaff like rocc. They still wear imperial guard helms but wear armor patterned after mandalorian armor and clone trooper armor. It is all black with a red helmet. I know this is not cannon but I think it is a really interesting idea and I was wondering what you thought of it.
I hope the Imperial Guards can aim at least.
They hit on rolls of 4+ with veterans hitting on 3+, so theyre pretty good aim 50 percent of the time

+Daniel Gomez A few of them like the shadow guards and saber guards appeared exclusively in the Force Unleashed game, the royal guards had a Dark Horse comic story which si where the pictures of the "sovereign" is from (Carnor Jax), and older ones like the senate guards looked like they were from the Clone wars series.

Commander Karbin from the canon Darth Vader comic seems to have visibly cyborg red guards. Never explicitly acknowledged but you can see them. I don't know if Disney is going to feature them more, but they looked cool.

- Fights monstrous space orks, dino bugs, demons, heretical rebels, ancient egyptian zombie terminators, super space elves, and still stands.
- Has defended their Imperium for 10,000 years.
- Is the backbone of the entire Imperium of Man's armed forces.
It's interesting to know that they were trained in Echani, considering it's basically a super ninja martial art

Yeah, certain rare materials in the Star Wars universe can do that, some have been around since the 80's.
The most well known is Cortosis ore, which depending on which type of ore can cause lightsabers to short out for a short while or simply stop them. They were used quite often in the Old Republic Era when the Sith Empire was a thing. Mandalorian armor also uses metal that is lightsaber resistant, it doesn't STOP lightsabers, but it takes a little longer to cut through than regular metal. There is even a creature called a Vonduun Crab which has a lightsaber resistant shell that you could use as plates to protect against lightsabers.

Into the S.W. saga and since its beginings inspirations, i think that the emperors red guards are like a revival of ancients egyptians, greeks and romans imperor guards (called "Pretorians" by the Romans particularly).

Many of the uniforms are different but functionally many hold uniforms to what ever assignment they have at that moment, like the stormtrooper and stormpilot who holds qualifications in both positions , they are at the moment whatever assignment they are working on .
