- SPOILER WARNING! I personally believe that Kuro Games will win awards for the Cinematic shown in the 1.1 Story. Changli and Jinhsi were fantastic!They did an amazing job and brought the story back in line to what people were expecting. They finally explain overclocking and other aspects. They added so much back story and character development that we were asking for in 1.0 and I'm really excited to see the direction Wuthering Waves is headed!

I actually like how at the beginning of the story they explain that Abby was most likely a part of us. Abby also mentions "us" when Rover sees their past upon first seeing Jue's statue, meaning it has been with Rover from the beginning. It's possible that Abby was something given by the Goddess. Abby is not something that Rover somehow fished out of the water. This is as good as knowing that Rover is an important part of Solaris 3.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the part in the opening scene where the Goddess put her hand into our Rover's chest (and then moved it down to their hand). That could have been when the Goddess placed Abby within Rover's body.
The best part about this story is that it’s Jinhsi’s story and Rover, while an important person to the world, is respectfully standing aside to let Jinhsi and Jue do their thing. It adds to Jinhsi’s growth as a person and shows us that stories don’t always have to end with the MC (us) saving the day which was refreshing.
The pacing and length of the quest was great even if short. Dialogue bloat was kept to a minimum and we got straight to the point instead of doing fetch quests designed to waste our time. My only gripe is the that they could go a bit easier on the technobabble since it makes it harder to follow.

the dialogues in the first part of 1.1 still kept me interested cuz at least camera angles and character movement/expressions were used unlike a certain game

It reminds me of a video during development where the devs said that they want every scene to look like an anime scene. And they exactly did just that. The static images showing a scene while the dialogue describes it is also engaging.

What I really appreciate about Wuwa's recent quests is that they are quality over quantity. They are not very long, but they get to the point and rarely waste your time talking to random NPCs or making you do side-quests. For example I like that they didn't have a quest where we go to baizhi to examine Abby, instead this was quickly told through screenshots. They could have easily made this into a painful 30+ minute pointless segment, but they didn't and I'm so happy for that.
Abby is a nice addition especially when the rover is alone we have someone to talk to
I don't mind Abby, I just don't want another floating creature that voices the Protagonist😅

@@justnoct MC has actual voice in this game, which is a breath of fresh air. So I don't think it'll be a Paimon 2.0. Morever, Kuro listens to community, so if that ever happens ever so slightly, they'll take the feedback and change things. Benefits of having game devs who actually listen.

Paimon canonical reason for talking/repeating story beats was cuz the traveler literally doesn’t understand what most people were saying so paimon was a translator
Rover knows how to speak the language and has tons of lines so it’d make no sense especially since they make a huge point that Abby has a low battery

I suspect that one of the reasons why everyone wants Rover is because Rover is the leader or founder of every faction. They are the master of every sentinel, the founder of Black Shores and the founder of Fractsidus 😂

yeah. it's mentioned that we witness civilizations. changli kinda has one line on that too. having a phoenix theme and all, it might be possible that changli existed far longer than we imagine. and in every civilization, a trace of rover is left choosing a different side every cycle.

Being able to play as both Changli and Jinshi was such a good idea, originally I was gonna skip Jinshi for Changli and Camellya, but the story and presentation made me think otherwise

This update floors me too, even as a husbando collector, slice-of-life type of player. I just enjoy new recipes, the sights, the new map, and the story. It's amazing.

Imo 1.0 wasn't that bad for me since it builds not only the world but also for the character and with those information we got from the starting chapter our knowledge of the story keeps growing
And people keep complaining about having too much stuff explained to them too and for some reason they complain about “being forced” to use the skip button. I guarantee those same people are gonna be wondering what’s happening when we get to the endgame and they’ve skipped through all of the information
Same. The issues I have are minor. The most blatant one is the excessive info dumping on Act I but for a lore buff like me who likes reading in-game literature, I love it. I can understand how it could detract someone with a low attention span though.
It also doesn't help that the writing is slow and meandering. Some people would interpret that as bad when it's a matter of writing technique. Some of my favorite novels have the same slow and meandering techniques.
With that being said, the voice direction and the cutting dialogue is distracting for the 1.0 acts so they should definitely improve on those.
Take a look at my CBT vs 1.0 vid and you'll see why I think 1.0 had way more potential.
1.0 is kinda okay, but not bad. Yinlin story quest tho, feel too rush, like nothing from main story really infused in that story. Lingyang story is better in terms of facial expression, hands movement, and voice acting.
I'd say acts 1&2 was the worst part of 1.0, information being thrown at once instead of discovering then slowly because the chapters after, literally explains those things visually.
Waiting for the " uhhm if you think this Act is great, then you have low standards and haven't played other gacha games.." comments.
Kidding aside. This Act is a treat for lore buffs. I love how they pace the writing in a macro-sense. The revelations actually are intriguing. Love the fact that it doesn't detract from the main plot of the rover trying to regain memories. I'm also glad Abraxas is not a yapping companion.
To be fair I'd be the one to point out the misgivings. I made a vid showing how CBT was better than 1.0 and I know this act isn't perfect, but it's a huge step up from 1.0 Acts 1-4 etc.
@@justnoct I'm fully aware. I follow your WuWa content. I also prefer the general direction of the CBT. It's just that I saw a lot of comments who rain down on someone's parade when people mention that they enjoyed the new Act.
Even the new act isn't perfect but which story chapter is, especially in an open-world gacha.

The update 1.0 is more on an introduction for Resonators, Lament, Tacet Discord, Retroact Rain, Etheric Sea, Phantoms, Threnodian and so on, yes the dreamless fight is insane but they didn’t go deeper into lore yet, it’s just an introduction for storyline so we can get a little bit knowledge just incase the lore become complicated and update 1.1 is the starting point of the lore, they give us a lot of new information such as Jue is the student of Rover (that is insane, lord arbiter? Damn bro is progenitor) and also Rover is the founder of Jinzhou! (They should worship Rover as a God lol) and lastly Rover story started in Blackshore which is why update 1.2 is a focal point for him to remember everything, we might get a lot of information there, im also curious the hint that Scar gave to us when we meet him when he say “Once you remember who you are, you will know that you’re one of us) is Rover a Fractsidus!? Damn the story is getting a bit complicated and deeper as we proceed to the game.
Abraxis is for sure gonna be it's original name when they both remember the origins. Other than that, it's a good story the stakes were high and for once we actually get some real info about who we are or our main quest main problem unlike some other gatcha

Yeah I think the 1.1 expansion as a whole was the Jinhsi character quest. I'd like to see more about the founding with Jue and such.

im totally fine with Abby, i found him cute and he has a personality, and he will be relevant in story, and i liked that we learned about him bit more. im only play on japanese so that ENG VO problems i didnt see.
i think so much people was traumatized by Paimon, that most of them dont appretiated Abby, when he no near to paimons annoyance.
But yeah 1.1 was great, they really did good work. Exited what Kuro cooks on 1.2 and beyond

Nah, they're the witness. It doesn't make sense if they interrupt the fight, much more being the actual arbiter of Jue. There isn't an actual bad guy/demon because the final battle was just a test.

Yeah but the story in CBT1 was actually pretty good just needed some polish work and remove some of the negative outlook on the MC. This has me pumped to see what else they have in store like the Black Shores in 1.2

I love how the story was focused on jinshi and there is time for rover story and for the characters in the game.
They did a great job focusing on building the back story and prioritizing on Jinhsi and Jue.

I think abby is just fine. I agree with you though abraxus would've been a better name. atleast it isnt useless and doesnt yap almost replacing the protagonist like the other chibi. and it is a badass and at sentinel level like jue.
I'm torn. I don't hate Abby, I think the fact that they spent so much time talking in the first part of the quest made me dismiss the rabbit a bit. But that's a good point technically Abby is our new Guardian and damn strong. If they can find a good balance I'm happy. Like you said she doesn't replace our voice etc.

Yeah we definitely got an upgrade with Changli, Jue, Xinyi and Jinhsi, but Yangyang still sounded off a bit. Hopefully the VAs get more comfortable in their roles.
For me, I think the part where Abby mentions "Abraxas" is a way to show us that Abby is just a shortened form of it. Abraxas is an actual term that is important in mysticism and Gnosticism. It is akin to Genshin impact's Archons and their equivalent demonic names (Venti is Barbatos, Zhongli is Morax etc.,) which tells us that there is something more that is hidden beneath Abby's cute exterior (this is already done with Paimon, although her naming is more direct). What adds to this is that Abby tells us that she somehow feels like this is how she should be named.

I don't understand what's your problem with Abby- which is loooovely!! Very nice characterization and voice over. Plus we get to know is is a very special echo, one that exists in other regions as well..(?).
An the end I would like to point out that every movie has to get you to the story for the good moments and the thrill to come. Stop complaining for every little bit of fun dialogue we get. At least the story was perfect..the conematic, the cutscenes the anges...pro work!! Keep it up Kuro !!😍
I personally liked the first 30 minutes. They are establishing the creature and they aren’t recapping just they’re giving context. I love Abby a lot more than Paimon. It isn’t rude, Rover is the one explaining the situation and it pushes us to the mountain. Its abilities are very good. It can sense different types of power, it can absorb extreme power, it lets us in on the rover’s thoughts and it made it easier to swallow the idea Jue used to belong to Rover. I didn’t even entertain the idea before, but the creature makes it seem less surprising
That's a good way to look at it.
Seeing how the story goes with less player communication, maybe it's better if the players let kuro actually write the story instead of having to rewrite and rush out out a story just to please the players.
After seeing them scrap the CBT story with talking TD's I hope they are able move past feedback and cook themselves up an awesome story!

The only problem I have with the story so far is that I still don’t care about the world. I care about the characters.. sure, but I don’t know why the rover is fighting or anyone else is.. apart from, Tacet Discords and Fragsedus bad.
Yeah this is my main issue and I've addressed this in my other vids. The original CBT1 story developed the world much better.
6:12 As from what I understand I'm pretty sure it's not just a "test of confidence", it's so much more than that. Jue is injured, Jue is never fine. The only thing Jue can do is freeze time to stop the time dilation thing from spreading. Jinhsi has to fight Jue and trigger a resonance awakening in order to stop the time dilation thing that's going on in Mt. Firmament, but this is a risky option that Jue never even considered because there's a high chance of Jinhsi losing and suffering a terrible fate. This is why Jue got aggressive when jinhsi keeps insisting because jue cares about her well-being and doesn't see that battle as a feasible option. None of these are planned by Jue, they defied fate
Pretty sure it was a test as Jue could have passed on his powers whenever after we the arbiter allowed. Apparently the previous time we did not allow Jue to pass on his powers. The awakening was to allow Jinhsi to step up and replace Jue as the protector. Jue survives when in the build up said it would take everything. Jue isn't even allowed to die without us saying so. Also Jue still hasc many more powers outside of time control. Jue even heals Jinhsi at the end.

Throughout the initial interaction with Jue he keeps insisting to freeze jinzhou too, idk if he'll go through that lengths just to test jinhsi

@@PY3100 ok so I did rewatch everything and no, it's not just a "test." It is supposed to be a test, that's why Jue's got a prophecy about them fighting. BUT, what happened in 1.1 is all improvised, Jue never predicted it because the fractsidus messed things up. It never crossed Jue's mind that the current Jinhsi can awaken a second awakening during their battle, it all happened so earlier than expected. That's why Jue kept insisting to freeze jinzhou because it's the "best" option they have.
and also yes, Jue is injured and it's been said multiple times even in Changli's quest, this led to the temporal disruptions on Mt. Firmament. So what happened is: Jinhsi has to trigger a second resonance awakening and have Jue transfer the temporal mandate to her so the temporal disruptions can be fixed. The whole scenario is not made up to test Jinhsi.

Yes, it was massive upgrade from 1.0, which had its moments, but suffered greatly from lengthy exposition dumps and overall clunkiness. I know EN voiceover had and still has issues, but I play with JP dub anyway so it doesn't bother me personally. I also could go and nitpick some criticism about direction and pacing some early scenes, but if you have to nitpick then you know it's in a good place.
On the point of Abby, I got an impression that it is an anti-Paimon and it's absolutely on purpose. Like, Abby's lines about "respecting Rover's privacy" and such aren't subtle. After almost 4 years of suffering in Genshin with Paimon, I'm perfectly fine with that. And as far as the name goes, I'm pretty sure there's much more to it and hopefuly we won't to have wait years for any update like "some other games". Also, come on, look at that face, it's literally Alpha Crimson Weave from PGR in pet form.

Bruh, peace days recap or beginning episode is normal and totally fine. Its just you that got impatient and want to jump right into the action/climax. I myself found its interesting to know more about Abby since its his introduction
That's not true. The recap was annoying because the VA for Yangyang and the poor writing. They could have done the recap in a better way. But this all stacks with the failure of the 1.0 story. They removed an amazing story from CBT and gave us a bunch of dialogue. Watch my CBT vs 1.0 vid if you don't believe me.
I can appreciate a recap and character introduction but I can't do more updates with Yangyang doing 30min of voice lines with no emotion or inflection.
The Mt. Firmament storyline was absolute FIRE. If 1.1 is any indication of Kuro's true potential as a LEGIT studio and fierce competitor to Hoyo, the future looks incredibly bright for story-driven anime gachas.
Ngl tho, "Abby"? And yet the voice actor sounds like a 12yo boy? Abby ... really? I understand it's short for "Abraxas", but c'mon, Kuro! The overall writing is one area where there's still a lot of room for improvement.

I realized something. Kuro writers have a hard time writing an intro and style in trying not to redundancy.
The only downside for me in 1.1 are the cheesy lines which jinshi said tho shows her resolve just looked a bit cheesy to me atleast other than that everything was fireee🔥🔥
Compared to 1.0 I can't complain it was all better 😂 but sure it definitely wasn't as dark and cool as CBT.

I had you till 07:11, but then completely lost you. I don't see the harm is a small recap of things, to put people back on pace and connect them to the present events, as it helps form a continuity. They also don't really "recap" but give the major events in 1.0, as to keep continuity with 1.1, which is very appreciated.
Also, why do you dislike the 3 of them, along with Abby, the fourth, having a good time and having a bonding moment? Why do you think that was the worst part? Should all stories be all sad and gloomy, and filled with serious plot points? I think 1.1 story was perfect. You have a nice bonding moment with your companions, and then you guys also have a bonding moment with Abby, which is 1000% necessary, and something that a certain other game lacks. And then once that is done and you come accross the serious topic, the story takes a route towards being serious but also sad. This pacing is really good, and how interpersonal communications IRL work too. The intro wasn't even overdone, it's just 3 friends having some fun, while catching up with past stuff, and then bonding with your very own companion, that you never knew was with you all this time.
TL;DR: I think the story was perfect, and while I agreed with you till 07:11, I immediately disgareed with everything thereafter, since the "worst" part of story according to you, is important group bonding moment. This is very reminiscent of IRL friendships, and bonding, and only people who don't have IRL bonding experiences, or the "introverts" would hate smth like that ig.
Since you took the time to type out this comment, I'm going to reply in kind out of respect. The reason I don't like the three of them is because of how they changed the 1.0 story. My CBT vs 1.0 vid goes over the changes that were removed and how I think that was a bad idea. In CBT I loved Yangyang, Chixia, and Baizhi. But in 1.0 they just made them talking figure heads. I dislike the fact that 1.0 had poor writing, rushed voice lines and overall lack of polish. It took 33min from Start to End pressing F at the end of each voiceline to get through the first part of 1.1 and I think that is a bit much. Out of the whole 1.1 story, for me at least, that was the worst part. Now again this is my opinion and we don't have to agree. I just feel like they are pushing the trifecta on us after removing the reason why they were soo important to us in CBT.
I would say please take a few min and watch my other vid comparing CBT and 1.0 and maybe you can see where I am coming from! Anyways thanks for the comment, and I appreciate open discourse!

I have to go off of what they did in 1.0 I can't just rate them on past games. CBT1 had a good story line and potential and Kuro nuked it and gave us the phones in 1.0 story. 1.1 isn't perfect but it's a huge step up from what they fed us in 1.0 and you don't have to like my content, you can go watch Doro and those guys for the ultra positive never critical commentary. I want WuWa to grow mainstream so I have to voice what I believe and see.
Yes now the story was a bit better. They tryed to fix the confusion with the "Rovers name thing" but that's the problem with a bad written thing in the story. You need to fix things kinda "randomly" like he/she made up that name we give to the Rover and that's why we can see both names in the quests. Well... atleast they trying. 😅
Everything else is kinda fine in the story now. But I think they are yaping a bit too much before Jinshis fight... it was way too much script for that battle. As they say sometimes less is more. But in the end we know something important about the Rover, that's a good point.👍

At this point I can't make anymore. I tried to take the positive outlook and hope it would get better. Her voice is actually pretty solid outside of the game so idk what's going on.
