CBT : it looked too dark ! The story is bad I don’t like girls hating me ! Release : I wanted the world to look more dark ! I liked the direction of the CBT story ! I want it back ! Kuro : man wtf
except the people who wanted it to be dark never switched their opinion. so this doesnt even work. one are babies the others wanted a non genshified story.
Its tough because Kuro wants to please everyone. BUT I don't care how much color and saturation you throw at the world, at its core its a dark, dangerous place that we transform over time and quests. So the story starting off dark makes sense then building up to redemption etc. I feel like there was a balance that could have been achieved but they went full 180 and it just feels out of place.
to be honest, the CN players actually ask for a slight change to make our rover to be just slightly more respectable. in cbt1, our boy got treated like a sack of sh*t even after doing good things. imagine naruto pain arc but instead of the village start liking naruto after he saves them, they dont change their opinion on naruto and still hate him, which is really unreasonable. the CN player ask for a slight change, but instead kuro for some reason change all of it, which also makes most of CN player become dissastified about it. like, they ask for a slight change, but got a rework that is actually worse that the original.
@@aokix5199 CN players want ML (meaning Master Love , Harem etc) . The CBT story started off with the girl cast being Hostile towards us . And well , you know what happened next
Player feedback can be a disaster, the direction went down hill just to please "players " who most likely didn't even play the game at launch, kuro needs to stay true to itself and their vision.
I imagine some cn crowd jusy watched the cutscenes highlights on bilibili and were enraged by the scene where Chixia points a gun at Rover. I doubt they even knew what the story was about.
CN players base has more voice and sadly their taste for story just too vanilla, and I would curse the mofos that give Kuro the idea to completely redesign my belove Camellya instead of improve upon the original, now she looks like lumine 2.0
We lost SO MUCH lore and story back during CBT1 because of the change. Here’s some notable ones I remember: - Crownless was supposed to be our Vergil. He’d be back and fight us stronger as we do too. - Calcharo appears in the story ACTUALLY. His shadow TD is actually his brother in the afterlife watching over him. He's also tied to the Feilian Beringal boss as well. - Aalto and Encore have separate introductions. - Camellya used to be Chun and is actually one of the very first characters revealed for the game. - Encore actually has ties to Scar. - Yinlin is tied to the Mourning Aix. - We actually could’ve had flashbacks about Rover being from/reincarnated from an advanced civilization. - Jiyan actually accompanied you as early as going to meet Jinhsi and stick with you to the end. - Lampylumen Myriad is actually a TD made out of souls clinging to life, not unlike what the Thundering Mephis in the current story.
this is why devs shouldn't give CBT players a golden key because frankly, gamers are stupid. in the release we got so much missing context. - Crownless feels like a one off boss that has nothing to do with us - Scar's attempt to recruit us feels pointless because at that point, everyone is nice to us, why would we consider Scar's persuasion? - It doesn't make sense why Rover is somewhat have interest in yangyang - who the fuck is yuanwu? we never met him and suddenly he's helping us?? Shouldn't that be Sanhua?
Exactly! When I saw Yuanwu come out and say "Im going to save everyone" like tf you are where did you come from and who let grandaddy in here 🤣 to be fair they did Papasmacks (Yuanwu) dirty he deserves his own back story. What really got to me was Yangyang and the massive disconnect. The later story making her seem really important meanwhile all we have done is talk and banter for 4 acts lol
Well, Scar did say that everyone is nice to us because they know we are important and they want us on their side, but I agree with everything you said. I was so confused when Yuanwu randomly showed up lol
Ahh yes, don´t let ppl stress test your game before launching, that always gets good results, the most recent game that went with that mentality and failed hard was Teste Drive Solar Crown.
That's true, remember the final chapter 1 ''defending the town?'' A random gacha character appear without proper story is there whom we almost have no relation whatsoever and during the mc fight against the final boss , Yuanwu appear during his flashback. Like who tf is Yuanwu to you? why these secret organization of black flower suddenly becoming your friend in less than a chapter . it's like they're firing a great scriptwriter and hired a 12 years old instead.
I made this exact point about Yuanwu saying "I'm going to protect everyone" like who tf are you. Same with blackshores org being rushed with Aalto and Encore. I feel like there was an amazing story in place and we lost it.
@@justnoct Fr dude I feel like Aalto and encore were supposed to have us go deeper into the CSC facility and find some crazy researchers or researcher-machine abominations and have us go into the “false portal” the researchers went into then we try to neutralize it but something goes wrong and THEN we fight the mecha abomination. That or we were supposed to explore more CSC facilities. Like the side quest where we fight the morning aix could’ve been a main quest with Aalto, Encore, AND the scientist With Yuanwu I feel like he should’ve been introduced MUCH earlier. Like we definitely could’ve had as the one that runs the simulation training because he runs a boxing gym. Or he could’ve had us go with him to fight some extremely powerful exile group that is terrorizing his gym or his students
Dude Crowless was the real Victim here, Such downgrade for a suposed rival, every good thing was lost because CN was bitching about how all the characters distrust the Rover... an actual unknow person in the middle of state of emergency... such a lost. MAKE CROWLESS GREAT AGAIN!
There is a fine line between listening to criticism and bending to any and all demands. Taking the public's opinion into consideration is important, but not to the point of compromising the creator's vision, as at that point it is no longer the same product.
Personally, I like the flow of how the tutorials were done in the final game (at least gameplaywise) but that original storyline in CBT1 would've added more to the characters. And them not trusting you and questioning your origins would add more weight when we get to that scene with Scar. It would've given us reason to at least consider the things he said. My only hope is that Kuro would reuse some of those story elements in future arcs cause it's really a shame we didn't get that CBT1 story. I personally wouldn't care if the story took too long if it was that interesting.
being hostile is good but still getting hated after doing nothing but good things is worse, that is what cbt1 tester complained. they didnt complain that rover is hated in the beginning, they complain that, even after bunch of quest and helping those in jinzhou and doing nothing but good things, rover are still getting treated like a sack of sh*t. thats what they are complaining about, and want kuro to slightly change the story, but instead, they change the WHOLE story to be something unrealistic.
@@AdamBlob I probably worded my original comment poorly but I was mostly talking about that lead up to the Crownless fight and a few stuff up till you get to Jizhou cause I really haven't seen the story after that. Some of those elements would make the story in the final game make a bit more sense. (That's what I think at least) I'm still ok with the final story cause it has its high points. I do hope though that Kuro will use some of the elements in the original story in later arcs.
@@AdamBlob If what you're saying is true then yeah, they went way too far in the other direction. Because I'm coming in wondering why EVERYONE trusts Rover so much with decisions, their lives, the lives of everyone in the city and the fate of the nation itself? Like Jiyan, why are you leaving it all to Rover who you don't know at all?
@@AdamBlob Oh that's not half bad then, it really was Kuro's fault at that point. I've been told that the Chinese players didn't want any type of hate from the girls at all but looks like I should have done my own research before running with it
At this point its not even anger, its just disappointment. But I'm hoping they can turn it around in 1.1 onward. Idk to see the potential just makes you wonder why ha.
As an artist and seeing the CBT footage for the first time, I believe it explained much more. During global release, I was left wondering what overclocking was, why Baizhi and Chicah(however you spell it), unable to help us, why the enemy feels so bland, and so on. This CBT footage helped me more so than the actual release.
I agree, the new version lacks the stakes that cbt had. One thing I don't see people discussing that I think is huge is the actual introduction of characters and phraseology before the crownless fight too... In CBT: You're introduced 1 character at a time and 1 game term at a time. You meet Yangyang first, there's some clear instability of the environment as rocks tumble and shift that gives you a feeling you should be moving and you're introduced to 'Tacet Discords' and then they add each of the trio and a term as you go along without being too intrusive. In Release? Chixia and Yangyang together right off the bat and in one of the opening sentences they mention etheric sea, tacet discords and something else all back to back with no explanation / clear connection and you're told it's dangerous but the environment doesn't seem threatening. The new opening is just too packed with random world stuff and chinese names all at the same time, while it was originally all spaced out in a more digestible stream.
@@justnoct Ah, when I say I don't see it discussed, I meant more that the CBT version actually did the pacing out of terms and introductions well. I figured the actual flaws with the release start were well known and you do seem to cover them fairly well, plus it's fairly common to comment on the actual story stuff :D As for the dislikes? No idea why you got hit with those. Sometimes the algorithm gives and sometimes it takes, I guess? :o
I agree. The CBT scene feels like there's something at stake. It also establishes a better connection for the Rover with the characters. It also reinforces that The Crownless isn't just a normal TD. Sure the 1.0 version told us he's an overlord class TD. BUT, the CBT version actually SHOWED it and not just tell. I feel like they're trying to mirror the firtst chapter of PGR where Lucia fought Alpha and is designed for us to lose. That scene is so awesome and sets the tone of the world and the story. It also makes the commandant (rover) feel attached to the character (Lucia) and set a character arc that is self-improvement to defeat Alpha. Overall, I feel like tweaking a bit of the CBT story will yield far better result overall. It's mature and grounded without being edgy. I feel like they infantilized the story (not to the point of Genshin Disney style though). I hope they stop pandering to us players when it comes to creative direction like the narrative. They should only primarily listen when it comes to gameplay-related issues but NEVER on the fundamental factors on the creative-side like art direction and writing save for some issues like pacing, dialogue, bloat, etc.
@@nottyseel949Fr cause I recommend this game to my friend who was a genshin player and she texted me and asked if the tutorial boss was supposed to be so unthreatening for an overlord boss💀
@@nottyseel949 fair enough. 😂 I really hope they do so. But I'm already seeing people accusing Kuro of lacking creative direction because they changed the initial story. Imagine what they would say if they changed it again. But still, I'd take a "change for the better" move more than keeping an uninspired one.
Wait bruh we actually got robbed xjsjxjsjx The CBT story was so gooood Especially with how baizhi and chixia reacted to rover Its so tense and it felt so realistic and gritty
Totally agree, let the developers cook, they already did it better in CBT, let them do what they really want to do. Hope your video gets noticed, and we`ll get the original start back.

That is like making a cotton candy brother now the game has been released for a month now . Although the start of story got dull but as you make your way to act 4,5,6 the story get really good especially at act6
@@dekumidoriya8578 @dekumidoriya8578 True, but I think a lot of people, especialy those that hate genshins childish and shalow story, will think the same about Wuwa because of carrent start. The CBT story feels a lot more mature and impactfull, same as the later acts, but in CBT you could feell the seriousnes of the story right from the start, which is great if you want to decide - would you play the game further.
Short answer: CN hated it, especially the scene when Chixia pointed her gun at the Rover. They couldn't handle not being the ever-loved protagonist, so out goes the whole scene.
Oh sure, no one's supposed to be suspicious of the random person that fell from the sky literally consuming a top-tier Discord with their bare hands!!!!😮💨🙄🙄🙄 My biggest complaint is that everyone's on my dicc for good given reason. And now I know why😅 Like lore-wise rn, I could easily join Scar. That's how vague this Rover is to me and the characters around me. Everyone should still be suspicious of me because I assume they have more than two brain cells😅
yeah the first chapter and the war story has alot of plot holes like YUANWU just suddenly show up like he has been there the whole time...i was like "did i missed a page???"
And I love how we meet Aalto and Encore in CBT1. Release version is boring imo. And the way Sanhua point her blade at MC. That shows she is the bodyguard of Jinhsi. And Scar is more evil. He killed a guy too in a CBT1 cutscene.
People are still complaining that the world was too negative towards MC. Like yeah that's the point. Drop from the sky, defeat a crazy strong boss and eat his echo. I'd point a gun/sword at you too 😂
Sanhua CBT part is illogical. The cutscene looked cool until you realized that Rover was escorted by others, included Jiyan the General. So why was Sanhua acting like Rover was intruding and pointing her sword even after Rover deflected the first throw? Then the others simply stand still and let it happened. Heck, even Jiyan stopped Rover from trying to defend himself, what the hell? Is it normal to throw your weapon at someone who is clearly not an intruder? What if Rover didn't deflect it and got hurt instead? The whole thing depicted her as hostile towards Rover who is a guest for no reason other than it looks badass.

crownless was the reason I got super hyped for Wuthering Waves and it's sad that my hyped part got changed this much. Well what's done is done I hope Kuro can learn from this and give us better story.
The thing you said about an echo chamber changing the whole game for everybody, FACTS. That's what pisses me off. I almost had my perfect game. And these ppl ruined it. Everything was a blur until reverse rain; you should be hooked 1st chapter. Scar shouldn't be the first time you get interested in the game?? I read some comments about it, and people say it's kuro's fault for 360ing, yea, but if they weren't pissy about chixia's gun moment, they wouldn't have gotten scared. I finished the main story, but it still feels empty, like nothing happened. If cbt 1 happened, the stakes and tone would've been set for 2 and chp. 3. It's too positive, not gritty for an apocalypse.
i heard that CN was VERY mad about having allot of people be so hostile to Rover in this story, to the point were they were pretty much forced to change the story (thats what i heard about it idk)
Yeah this is starting to add up, between this and reports of players complaining that "female" units were getting trashed I'm not surprised Kuro fell to the Politics...
@@justnoct Which is odd because literally the first thing that happens in PGR is Alpha shows up and decimates your entire team. Literally cutting Lucia to pieces and impaling her with her own sword. It's pretty much exactly why Alpha is the most iconic character in the game. I'm not sure on CN response, but I do not think it was like this. Makes me feel like the CN they were listening to were the loudest members of another community.
@@justnoct Nah cause it makes more sense for the mc to be so much more powerful than them because like “wow that’s why they are the mc” like if you don’t like seeing the “female” units getting trashed then play female rover or something 😂 I completely agree with you and you earned a new subscriber🙏
It was continued hostility after doing hundred of fetch quests and despite everyone working with Rover to save the town, continued to. It's been revealed many CN players requested the story to be revised, not reworked... Tbh I think Kurogame does a lot of things drastically.. during CBT2, camera was fine but janky (too much shaking and lag follow). During release, they said they fix it but it became worst (auto change direction, random worm view, stuck to wall) as if they chose to redo the whole camera system. The subtitles were also changed from CBT2 and those only needed small alteration regarding npc localized name, not the whole lines. edit* Note but I would not deny there were likely a large number of CN Incel in beta testing that made themselves loud.
Maybe they can still explain rover past self in future story, but i guess they go from the summon route isekai story instead of time travel storyline where in cbt1 rover literally time travel back in time, ngl i miss the CBT1 login ost from vanguard and CBT1 crownless
Oh don't get me started on what happened to the music! Vanguard needs to come back and soon! They really need to revamp the beginning. Completely change it I don't care. New players deserve a well written story with that amazing music!
I think CN has a small obnoxious vocal minority as well. That's the biggest problem with "listening to players" the majority doesn't have nearly as much time to talk and complain. Really, it's always going to be the outliers who have the most time to make their voice heard in every society. Especially on issues that most people would never mention. For example, most players probably did not even realize that the Rover being trusted and loved was going to be an issue needing defense, so when they just said "the story could use a little work" in regard to pacing or dialogue, it seemed in harmony with the minority who were like "we hate the story!"
blame the higher ups, they only care about money.A lot of this happen a lot in media, dumbing down the story to appease the masses.A bunch of baboons in a suit see whats popular in the market happens to be typical power fantasy stuff,so they want Wuwa to be that way, because thats what sells, unfortunately
3 months later, i watched all the CBT cutscenes, not just opening. And oh my god. The entire way the plot was presented was A THOUSAND times better than release. Every character has so much personality and depth even from few seconds of appearance. Everyone was so badass and so easy to fall for or resonate with. I wholeheartedly hope they will find a way to somehow bring it back though i certainly think its gone now
2:24 Never forget that Jiyan, the general asked Rover, who's suffered memory loss military strategies and Rover was supposed to answer correctly. Rover(s) doesn't know their past but somehow is authorized to lead an amy out of Jinzhou and can think better or on par with a general who's had the job for a long time. Makes sense chief
The story is what drags Wuthering Waves down right now (with the 50/50 on banner and the tower of adversity)... I did not liked Yangyang at all as she is basically forced on the main character as the perfect waifu all the time... This arc seems crucial for her and I do not get why they removed it, ultimately making the current Yangyang as annoying as Paimon although she could have been such a cool character. If the pacing was the issue here, they could have done the Crownless encounter and drama later on after seeing the world. Anyway, this is not gonna make me stop playing. I just hope they will implement all their cools ideas and expose the true nature of Black Shore and the shepard now that they have more time and a larger community. Thanks a lot for sharing this, it is definitely making Yangyang and Chixia a lot better.
Thanks for commenting, and it shouldn't stop you from playing. I just wanted to show the potential was there and that my constructive criticism was knowing Kuro could and did make a better story, but they pulled it out. Same with the music. The original Vanguard Sounds Music was insane!
I like Rover's design and bad ass moments in the cut scenes but man every time Rover is involve the story becomes 40% glaze fest at minimum. No development whatsoever haha if you see a character talks to Rover you'd know that the relationship will automatically be that character glazing Rover. That's why my favorite parts of the story are those that highlights other characters' relationship/dynamic with each other cause suddenly they'd have a personality again
They need to rehire the old writers or if they still working, tell them to be confident, it's ok to write things a bit edgy and traumatic, we are not kids and they do not need to copy genshin. Though this is probably quite late for the intro chapter to be changed, honestly idk how they can replace the current story with many people gonna wanna redo the beginning if it were the case. Maybe this entire thing could be replicated in another city/country where they do not trust Rover at first sight idk. They can still do some flashbacks that bring up the cutscenes we missed later on The only things I think the devs can do if they cannot change anything is fix the voiceacting for Yangyang/Chixia/Baizhi and redo the dialogue so it is better understood than a bunch of "sciencey" terms Tbh I would just wanna see them try changing the intro even if we old players cannot see it ourselves anymore. At least that would lure in newer players and give some justice for Yangyang and Chixia because people HATE those characters, some even hope Yangyang would perish during Act 6 where she leaves to buy us time because they think she's annoying. It's sad, really
This is my thinking exactly. Fix the beginner experience. Completely re-write it idc. Give us a flash back quest to experience it or w.e, but right now Chixia and Yangyang are hated, when in realty and in the original writing they were badass!
@@justnoct Better if we ask the community or at least as many players as possible to write feedback on this to Kuro. Kuro may not be able to change the intro story because they should be busy pumping out 1.2 and 1.3 patches and no longer have the capacity to redo old animations and voicelines. But at least they would feel more confident about their talents, that their initial route was correct and they don't need to hesitate to go against the norms now. I feel the changes in story happened because this time Kuro wanna make WuWa by themselves, flying solo. Probably they were scared they would get bankrupted should the game fail and so gave in to any feedbacks in hope to gain more success which ends up backfire on them. It's good if Kuro could manage to redo it, but we shouldnt blame them too much if they could not.
@@justnoct I already filled my survey but Ill write to Kuro with the feedback feature tmr. Whether they would actually read it and take it seriously is a different story. But like most things in life, you never know till you give it a try, right?
They really need to bring this intro back, like i don't care if i already finished the story quest, this intro is a million times better than what we currently have and this is what i wish i saw and wish every new player to see when playing the game for the first time.
Guys please give Kuro Games a break. I think it's obvious that one of the big factor the 1.0 official release had a lot of bugs and optimizations problems is because of the *story* *rewriting.* If y'all are planning to make Kuro do a rewriting again, it's gonna cause the same after math again by affecting wuwa down the line. Even if it's the Crownless intro, it's not worth it. If anything the best thing Kuro could do is fix the god-awful voice acting and change some dialogue jargons. As much as I want that Crownless cut scene back, it's gonna be hard to bring it back. Because they have to rewrite almost everything again just to make that cut scene make sense. Yangyang got bodied and almost broke herself, so they have to change everything that had Yangyang's presence in it in the whole Act 1-6. Kuro will waste resources again into rewriting and reanimating. Not to mention the awful voice acting. You could argue that they are already earning a lot with the early bits of news of Yinlin's banner revenue. But it's not that simple, because companies obviously have loans too, they have to have something on the plate in the incoming patches, and they have a lot of optimizations to do, re recording, etc.,. Millions have already finished the main story chapter 1. Instead of rewriting the story again and again and again and again. It's better to just fix the things that are already there. It's gonna make a much better impact if they just invested that money into better incoming chapters. The current story isn't as bad as y'all are making it to be. Fix the awful voice acting, fix the localization (jargons) and that's it. That's good enough. I've watched so many wuwa gameplays of so many types of ccs. Outside of the loud part of the community, there has not been much of a fuss about the story. The things that people are complaining about are the voice acting, unscrollable dialogue, too much unfamiliar words and such. Nothing much about the story. There are still a lot of existing problems in WuWa like optimizations, and the things I've said above. *It's better for them to fix these and polish the game than pander *EVEN* *MORE* to us regarding the story plot of the game.
I don't disagree with your outlook. To be fair most of my content has been to help new players with guides etc. But those players have also reached out confused with the story. What worries me is that they fired their writer less than a year before release and have a new writer come in and 180 the story without filling any of the plot holes. The disconnect from Act 1-6 is substantial. All of this come from a point of wanting Kuro to succeed and knowing they have so much potential. This isn't trashing Kuro. This is wake up Kuro make YOUR game the way YOU want and let us enjoy it. They were taking risks and pulled most of it back due to feedback and complaints. I doubt they will remake the intro story. But they could fix parts of it. Improve the VA and maybe try to fill in the plot holes where they can. Why did they remove Calcharo and his brothers story? Why did they remove Danjin? Why is there no back story for Yuanwu? I think these warrant revisiting even if they are added in the future updates. I'm a very small CC I literally started this channel to support Kuro and grow with Wuthering Waves. My opinion has no impact on the Billion dollar company that is Kuro. Yes they just had a funding round and were valued just shy of the big B so don't act like they have loans, they have investors and large companies throwing millions of dollars to get a piece of the Gacha profits. I agree fix the technical issues first to players can enjoy the game, but they need to revisit some of these plot holes. I don't know the exact numbers but I have been in executive leadership surround product management and in my eyes they lost 30% of the new player base to that horrible 1.0 story. Is what it is. I hope they can turn it around and as long as the game is fun ill keep covering the content! Gotta keep moving forward!
@@justnoct I know you're not shitting on WuWa. I just think it's better to polish the current story than rewriting it again. Also, just because Kuro is funded doesn't mean they don't have any limitations. If they didn't, why can't they hire more developers to brute force the 1.0 into a polished version in a short amount of time. I also want them to properly introduce the other characters, and I think they can do that just fine in the upcoming patches. It's not like they can't incorporate them in the new chapters and acts. Having said those. I still rather have the upcoming patches be better and polished than redo the already released chapters. Also, it's not like I'm totally opposed to the rewriting. The reason I have this argument is because of the 1.0 that we have now. The reason is because of the rewriting and I don't want that again. I want them to focus everything on 1.1 onwards. Incoming months will have an influx of games incoming, so they have to cook extra hard to retain players. And I want them to go hard at that. Anyways don't misunderstand this comment as me taking you as one of those annoying loud minorities. We both have the same desire, and it's to make wuwa better. It's just that I think, the approach I mentioned is better for the game onwards. I just hope that Danjin and everyone else can be introduced properly regardless of this debate.
@@justnoct You're acting like they couldn't just add the other characters story in later patches. This is the company that writes side stories for every characters no matter their rarity in PGR. Hell, some of their 4* stories have the best presentation in that game. Stories can be add in later. They can be better written. But what can't happen is to let resources running out before the game able to release. They're not a billion dollar company. Had they been we would've seen more sponsored videos by now.
@@hikarii53 I welcome the discussion and I'd never take it the wrong way! If people took the time to better understand each others point of view we could avoid alot of conflict ha. we all want the game to be better. both of you are right tbh. they could put some things back from cbt1 to 1.0 if they really want it and have the time and resources for it. but at the same time, we don't know for sure if they could really do it. and if we force them to and it's the other way around, this be for the bad instead. as for me, I think anything works as long as they don't shoot themselves on the foot again.
Holy crap I love this dark and serious story. Really hope something like this can release in the future where there’s some hostility towards rover instead of him acquiring a harem so easily
honestly them being sceptical and questioning your existance seems much more valid and more interesting character development wise but i suppose having vanilla (soft/light story telling) is the safest way over all
As someone who played pgr i can pretty much tell that cbt1 was how they WANTED to showcase the Crownless fight, seeing how goated the animations back then were compared to release. Especially the animations of rover absorbing crownless was so much better
What makes genshin so good despite it's horrible treatment to their players is because of their care for the story of the game, and the music. Kuro failed to realize that their story is as important as gameplay, and removed it. Yeah the game is amazing, I love it more than genshin currently, but it doesn't give me that feeling which genshin was able to give me when i first started the game because the story feels empty, That is why I still come back to genshin when a new update comes out without needing to pull for new characters. Really popular and successful games that remains in relevance for years are games with actual story in it. Take dmc for example. Sure many people play the game because it's fighting system is great, but the story was the reason why players still come back to it. I'm not saying wuwa is a bad game, in fact its the game I spend the most time on currently. I'm just saying it would be way better if their vision was kept and the game makes us come back to see how the story goes alongside with new interesting characters.
what the hell dude, cbt crownless looks like you just accidentally set foot on the endgame boss's lair as a new player, and now new version is just... sad
@@oussemamenthole2586do remember that Kuro is a small company, last time they worked at what could be described as "a locked down restaurant", and only moved to a new one not long ago. Even small, every penny counts, and that's also why they couldn't take as much risks as they could.
You guys see one of the characters hold a gun to Rover’s head and now all of a sudden it’s better than the finalized story that was released with the game
I see Chixia, Baizhi and Yangyang being badass and all of a sudden think damn I might actual build my RC4 Yangyang. People complaining about this exact scene caused us to lose the darker side to Wuthering Waves...
soo true idk what these people defending the change are thinking the story feels so damn bland that all im looking forward to is for that skip button to appear
I didn't play CBT so I was clueless to what I was missing, and I agree with you. Ever since the very first sneak peek we had of WuWa I was looking forward for a good story with a darker tone, now I feel sad to know that we had and it they decided to take it out
The problem was how hostile everyone was. Mortefi wanted to experiment on you. Jihnsi gave the ok. Sanhua wanted you dead. Chixia was going to shoot you. There were other things in the story to add to this on top of rhe npcs being hella cruel/weary of you. Then the straw that broke the camels back: Lingyang bragging about him killing inferno rider then telling you "why are you still here" despite being the one who weakened him. Yeah... the story was leading in the direction of you joining scar and in CN you cant play as a villain by law.
I mean that's fine. We dropped out of the sky. Defeated and undefeated enemy and then ate the Crownless echo with our hand. Yeah that all makes sense. Experiment on the alien. Be weary of the alien. Don't trust the alien. And then a redemption arc to bring you into favor. Honestly whose to say we aren't the bad guy? We're probably the world ending calamity with a rabbit paimon...
@@justnoct Tales of the Abyss also start with your character being a total a*s who are thought of as a nuisance by everyone, until later he did something so bad that the party literally broke up. But later on he redeemed himself and slowly getting the trust from your other party members. Younger people today just want everything handed to them on a silver platter.
@@Acueil but that's the opposite of the story in WUWA, the mc is literally a kind guy, Lingyang was the asshole thinking he's the only who defeated inferno rider.
@@justnoct "Lingyang bragging about him killing inferno rider then telling you "why are you still here" despite being the one who weakened him." still doesn't make any sense. If a stranger saved your city, would you still be an asshole? or atleast give some credit and respect?
I am fine with the Chixia change of personally of the release, but ATLEAST do NOT just scrap The whole Crownless fight scene, that is literally the whole plot, and the definition of Overclocking would have been a easier explainatory than just the dialogues
its because of the chinese kids whose playing too much of genshin they dont want a loosing side of the heroes and they dont want the MC to be a suspicious person they want more buddy buddy eventhough u just saw each other a few seconds ago they all have this PROTAGONIST SYNDROME hahaha and they all feel like they are the MC that they are playing they cant separate games to reality.
@@yumikokowachi7200 they should blame those kiddies that the story turned bad. when the good part of it was already there in the first place just a bit more polishing. sigh
@@reisaizel4562 yeah it was more realistic when u dont 100% trust a suspicious person just fell out of the sky or came out of nowhere thats why chixia is aware and had her gun in mc's head it was totally understandable and obviously the right thing to do especially when u got into trouble bcoz of this person or some abnormalities happen when they show up people must be aware everytime since they are in a catastrophic phase on their own world. and yet this KIDS keep yapping " oh i dont like when they are rude to MC they should all be friends " like WTH you guys are the first one to die if we got some catastrophic happenings.
can i just complain how much i hated they butchered Chixia and her entire Character as a whole because now i hate her released version. In CBT1, she is shown to be a lot tougher and her relationship with Yangyang more clearly than the scenes with Rover. like we saw her being genuinely worried for Yangyang while in the Tacet Field, and when Yangyang gets hurt, she is understandly in shock and worry. upon seeing Rover absorb the Crownless, aka a Tacet Discord, her responds is to point her gun at Rover. many could argue that it was unnecessary because Rover just saved them but i heavily disagree, mainly because a lot of things they're missing. Think for a second and be Chixia or anyone's (besides Rovers) shoes for a moment, you live in a post apocalyptic world filled with monsters that could easily wipe you out if your not careful, that along with knowing certain evil factions like the fracstidus existing in a world like that. to add more to the worry basket that is in a conflict with a monster, your friend was just badly hurt and you witness someone fight the same monster that almost unalived your friend, then witness that someone consuming the monster, unable to know how. personally if i was those shoes, i wouldn't be so amazed by that, just terrified and scared because what if that Crownless uses that person or something much worse could happen. Chixia's reaction to seeing this could be speculated as a possible fight or flight response, seeing some absorbed one of the most dangerous beings could be question as to wether or not they could now be dangerous as well. who knows, for what i could break down, Chixia could be thinking that something bad would've happen, or continued, if she didn't put her guard up, hell she may have not been thinking clearly and did it in a state of protection and defense. it's such brilliant writing of show don't tell in Chixia's gun pointing scene, showing both her positive traits and character flaws as well as making her quite realisitic in a harsh setting and the conflicting circumstances she's put in. i've seen peope also complain about her hositlity after they come to the Jinzhou, but good reminder she is still traumatized from Yangyang's near death experience and witnessing a stranger absorb an echo, so her being a little out of shape and unfriendly makes sense. but just because of she's hot-headed and stubborn doesn't mean its the only character traits she has. like the bell cutscene for example, showing her caring and emotional side. it is told by her that the bell rining means comrades have fallen and she thinks it meant for Yangyang, but reassures herself that she's going to be alright before running off. like, Chixia's expression when she hears the bell is heartbreaking, really emphasizing her care for her good friend, being detemine that Yangyang isn't going to die and proving that she isn't full on stubborn or "mean". from both the gun pointing and bell rining scene together, they execellently hightlight her character of anger, sadness, fear, and emotions. from all this, we can know that Chixia is a good friend of Yangyang who isn't afriad to put her guard up when something unusual happens as well as being hopeful in struggling moments, and she's also known to have strong emotions and a caring side, even when it comes to showing her relationship with Yangyang as well. however, in her now released character, she has none of those traits. most of her scenes are just her being overly bubbly and nice upon first meeting, and even in the crownless scene that i just broke down, her reaction is completely changed in the worse way possible (even if Yangyang badly wounded scene wasn't in the released). she is just impressed, not even worrying that something might happen (again, i world filled with monsters and evil factions like the Fracstidus) and just straight telling us that we're friends we now are, not even an hour after known each other, it feels so unearned and very cheesy. i guess there are some moments of her not being so nice to everyone like confronting aalto, but that's not even enough for her to be a good character. most of the time, there is absoutely nothing that makes her stand out to be the likeable character she was in her CBT1 version, she's just a one dimension nice goody two shoes with no personality besides being nice for the sake of self-insert audience appeal. not even a moment where she shows anything emotional or any character driven moments, not even showing any specific flaws as well, just being nice that's her entire character. honestly, out of all characters, she got the worst treatment all because a bunch of crybabies can't even handle a female character, i mean their "waifu", showing realisitic emotions and reactions that caused by terrifiying circumstances beyond their control. sorry if they was long but i wanted to express my dissapointment for the change as someone who loves story and the characters for both their lore and personality, espcially a character like Chixia who had the potiential to be very likeable and have character development. hell, it would've been nice to see her grow a strong friendship with Rover after knowing they arn't a danger to anyone and that they are kind, hard-working, and trying to who they are. heck maybe have a moment of her aplogizing to them for gun pointing with such natural interactions as well. sadly though, we don't get that at all. while i don't really like what we got from released, i'm glad there are some moments that were good. CBT1 Chixia, you will always be my favorite.
I mean I appreciate that you think I could have any impact or sway on what Kuro does, but select regions were in CBT and I had no feedback against this story.
In the beginning , I agree that the CBT opening was way better than that of Release . However , the story afterwards in CBT was WAY worst than what we got in Release
I know bits and pieces, but from what I saw/read Calcharo gets introduced we find out more about TDs and the black shores had ties to the fracidus etc. They could have melded the two but to see how Yuanwu just gets randomly added and we go from 0-100 in Act6 I know it had potential writing in there.
@@justnoctoh yea I just realized I finished the main story and most of the side quests and haven’t seen Calcharo or Danjin at all. And Yuanwu should’ve definitely been running the simulated training thing since he literally runs a boxing gym
To be honest...i haven't seen all of the story of CBT1 but if they say the story of CBT1 was bad then what is this story mess now? From what i have seen it was way more interesting, darker, mysterious and its story was far more mature with realistic character behavior. I've played a lot of stories and i'm one of those players who is really into world and character lore. But this mess is so badly written ... you can actually feel that they rewrote this story in a hurry. It's really disappointing because, knowing Kuro, i really hoped to see a much more mature game...but this story is just a happy go lucky children story without any soul or uniqueness.
Is the cbt still available to playable bc i would perfer to play that then what we have now. It genuinely feels like we were robbed of the great potential and story they had prepared but did a whole 180
What a raw video, the only good thing about cbt1 is just ghe crownless intro, other than that everything else is worse It's obvious that it won't cover these problems, but that only makes the video dishonest because it implies that just one excerpt makes the overall story better when it actually doesn't. I bet most people here didnt follow almost anything of the story besides the introduction of crownless on cbt1
Definitely Raw as it was a response to my last vid. I agree most people didn't bother to look up CBT or talk with Tech/CBT players. I did. My opinion is based on what I read/heard. Apparently Crownless was the main reason the story was changed due to "feedback" about "negative" response and apparently people don't like to see their "waifus" get beat up by a monster. But then why did they remove Calcharo all together? Why change the Encore Story? Why Change Yinlin as well? Was CBT polished, no. Was the writing better? IMHO I think so. So what if everyone was weary of us and hostile? I mean sure tone it down once you get in the city, but now its just a cheerleader party for the Rover...
@@justnoct Well, I didn't just hear it, I witnessed this entire scandal from the beginning. I even know that the take of “ah cn didn't like how rude the characters were to rover” is just a superficial description without much contextualization of the criticisms from the cn community, which in fact was the “only one" that provided notable feedback regarding the game's story while the rest ignores or doesn't provide really detailed feedback because people generally didn't care enough about the story to point out feedback. crownless wasn't the main problem for people in the feedback, the whole community even cn was fine until cronwless, but that's it, like I said, the only good part of the cbt1 story was the introduction of crownless. after cbt1 the news circulated in the cn community that the writer had been fired before cbt1 even started, because this writer had been causing confusion in development because his ideas didn't match the intentions of the rest of the team, which resulted in several inconsistencies in the story (anyone who really follows the story on cbt1 notices them). kuro after that put in the position of leader of the writing team a girl who is already well recognized in the kuro fanbase because she was responsible for writing one of the most highly rated chapters of pgr "survive lucem". Because she was a new writer, the change in the story didn't just cover the points that were criticized, but the story in general. Unfortunately, the deadline to redo the entire story was short, just 8, 9 months, which resulted in a very rushed start, but you can see that the story stabilizes as the chapters go by.
@@whatamess8894 That makes sense they did say a new writer was brought in. They mentioned the original was a well known anime/manga writer. Though you were there you can confirm if that was in fact true. I followed it from the outside. Public opinion was against crownless, but again behind close doors it makes sense. Ill be honest ive seen the Tech/CBT1 & 2 stories and I gotta be honest CBT1 went with the games overall dark aesthetic. But new writer explains the complete 180 on the story from dark and darker to "bring it on" lol
@@justnoct It's more about the general atmosphere of the game, firstly people didn't like the saturation of the game, that sort of thing, so they changed it (and it seems to have been the right choice because the game got a boost of attention from it). Another factor is that the mythological side of the game has more presence now, oh btw this is nothing new this mythological side has always been part of ww, cbt1 just didn't explore it properly, for example when rover arrives at the dragon statue, yangyang in cbt1 says that the is statue for celebrations but they stopped working on it and that's it. while in the version we have now, the statues, in addition to foreshadowing the story in general, also include the introduction of the sentinels that guard the cities. the characters in cbt1 are very bland because in general they act on empty shock values. There is no real maturity or seriousness in them in itself it is just an empty impression because of moments of shock. I will give another example. After Yangyang is injured by Crownless and Rover absorbs Crownless, the attention turns to Rover because he is someone unknown, defeating an elite TD alone and absorbing him into his own body, cool. we arrive in the city this tension disappears, chixia takes a tour with rover introducing the city and leaves us alone in a random place in the city for the rest of the day... BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PART WHERE ROVER IS SUPPOSEDLY DANGEROUS AND HAS MONSTER INSIDE? YOU'RE SERIOUSLY GOING TO LEAVE HIM UNATTENDED IN A RANDOM PLACE IN THE CITY, AREN'T YOU GOING TO DO ANY CHECK ON HIS BODY? ok, just the other day we meet with chixia again and we go to the main tower to see the data bank of our terminal (no check up on rover's body, she forgot) the bell rings and another shock drama comes with chixia, The bell is for funeral and she worries about Yangyang and says we shouldn't follow her and runs away, SECOND TIME SHE LEFT ROVER ALONE WHEN SHE WAS THE ONE SUPPOSED TO BE KEEPING AN EYE ON HIM. ok rover goes to the bell alone and yangyang appears well, rover says he thought something had happened to her and chixia says "hey don't jinx her"...bro this sequence is ridiculous it looks like a child who wrote this wanting to do drama Man a can go in so much thing, inconsistencies etc.
Something that i noticing too, the soundwave iconography. A lot of the topics characters bring up have to do with waves and frecuencies and stuff, this was completely lost on release. They dump a lot of information but your brain has no imagery to link it to. I get it, if you pay attention an read you can tell the theme but for many it would have been easier if they have kept the iconography in and the fight was awesome and Crownless is legitimately scary, i guess they cut it out because all of the characters getting their ass kicked are female characters maybe?
@@sachi2798 They removed a bunch of content that's what lol. Look I don't claim to know all the details but Ive spoke to a few Tech/CBT players and there was much more detail and explanation and back story. The original story makes more sense is all even thought it was far from perfect. Why replace when they could of reiterated on a good foundation.
I had no idea that so much story had been dropped completely. I love the game so far but not for the story. Seeing this however.....wow....I want that experience now.
Holy shit that was so cool! It sucks we lost such a mature story cuz that's why I wanted to play it when I first saw it. I've been struggling to play it currently cuz how boring it is in fact. If we go back to this darker story I'll deff keep playing but the hope is small.
Can we all please thumbs up this videos so that Kuro can find it on TH-cam. They have a great research team and this is a great way to give them feedback. We need kuro's edgyness and mature story telling back!!
CBT1 story had alot of yap with no development for the MC and side characters, the "distrust" they had on Rover no sense at all. Blud literally saved them and resembles a hero of jinzhou everyone knows. Bro is really judging the whole story like that when we are only in 1.0 I'm saying to you, when the story starts developing in next updates this video *probably* will age like milk
Some people like the anti-hero story line with a redemption arc. I understand it needed work, but they spent 8-9 months recreating the story. I think they could have adapted parts of the old darker story and created a transformation of trust for the MC. I HOPE that this ages like Milk. Are you kidding of course I want the story to develop. I wasn't trashing Kuro I was just expressing disappointment in what could have been and showing people that there was this dark side to the game that filled many of the plot holes.
@@justnoct I understand the sentiment, I just think we need to give them more time to cook The introduction now is not as good as before because Crownless is not as badass as he was. But I don't see where the story could go to a less dark/more infantilized route as you imply. The story points out into a slow but dark route especially with the things Scar told us. But even though we disagree in some points, I think thats a good video 👍🏼
@@justnoct Redemption arc implies that we did something wrong when we literally saved all of them. It's also just doesn't fit Chixia characterization as a hero of justice, to pull a gun on us like that. Had it was Baizhi I'd let it go because she's described to only trust what she has control over, which we're not especially after doing something she's never seen before. Chixia supposed to be the Peter Parker of Wuwa, not a trigger happy gun girl. Not to mention later on other characters are either unempathetic or just straight up being rude to Rover for no reason. It's just edgy for the sakes of being edgy.
@@hieple4164 I meant it more along the lines of having to prove yourself even though you did nothing wrong. Many Anti Hero stories start off when the good guy getting shit on until people trust them. I mean the way I see it right, the world has gone to shit. State of Emergency. They're losing the fight against the TD. Some random person drops out of the sky. Their friend gets hurt trying to save the rando. The rando then eats an echo. I think among all the turmoil the first action of what is supposed to be the "cops" / "feds" would be bring the unknown subject in. Regardless if they saved them. Now the rest of the negativity with Sanhua etc sure maybe a bit exaggerated, but in relation to the state of affairs not surprising. Idk we can agree to disagree I don't think it was edgy, but I can see it kinda. I just think instead of rewriting the whole thing they could of adapted parts of it and made it better.
@@justnoct That's just sounds like another power fantasy where you're still the overpowered mc but people just hate you instead of love you. It's not as nuance like you think it is. The reson I hate this edgy "MC vs the world" trope so much is because most of the time the authors of these genres just make characters being shitty toward MC for no reason so that it'd be satisfying to humiliate them back. Example of this is Chixia in CBT 1 just started putting on an attitude at us for no reason and get pissy when we do good deeds. Or when Awu stole our kill and told us to piss off. It's just doesn't make them anymore likable when we eventually get the better of them. It just pissed me off. And you expecting me to pull for these characters and build them? Hell no. Instead they could combined the opening of CBT 1 and the rest of CBT 2 while giving it a few tweak in the beginning so it'd match their characteriztion. Again having Baizhi instead of Chixia pointing her weapons/familiar at us because Baizhi is the only one making sense to do that. Plus, doing that also avoid the gun controversy that CN was so bothered by (they don't like guns being point at people). And that's just one thing they can tweak to combine CBT1 & 2. I have more but it's getting long.
That dude who commented "games are played not because of story" got his brain polished hard. We're literally talking 'bout RPG here where lore/story should be one of the biggest attraction point.
I personally prefer the launch story, and it all boils down to two things. 1. People had nowhere near enough time to actually care about Chixia, YangYang, and Baizi for Crownless beating them down to really have an emotional impact. I know it makes Crownless more threatening, but from a PURELY writing standpoint, it would make more sense for such a threatening presence to arrive later on in the story, when we've had time to actually get to know these characters enough to have *some* level of emotional attachment. 2. Crownless speaking actually messes with lore quite a bit, as no tacet discord we have met, not even the THRENODIAN we have fought actually have spoken. The only time we see them doing something that could POSSIBLY result in speech was during Jiyan's companion quest, BUT those tacet discords had consumed human memories, and were purely reenacting what those memories entailed. I can understand people wanting a darker storyline, and I do as well. However, I'd rather have a calm before the storm type situation, where we can actually care about these characters we are seeing have terrible things happen to them. But, other than that, I'm just excited to see what the future will bring to the story, and I hope that 1.1 is the starting point of something great.
From a PURELY writing standpoint if you played the game and finished the story so far you can see we still could not care less about the characters since the story was rushed asf and crownless still had no threatening presence at all. Jiyan with his backstory with Geshu Lin was the most interesting part. Crownless speaking would probably not mess with the lore we could have had...it only messes with the present lore, since it was changed if you didn't notice the entire point of the video. We didn't have 'the calm before the storm' we had a mess of a plot, confusing and broken with meaningless dialogues and a weak climax. I do hope, like you, that 1.1 is the staring point of something great because really...the actual start was not great at all.
@tatianabreves3894 I have completed the entire story that has been released, just so you're aware. I understand that it was rough, but I enjoyed it (i simply enjoy seeing stories, period), and I know that probably makes me the minority. As for my point about crownless, all I was saying is that the cutscene, while, yes, it looked awesome, I simply cannot see it as anything more than a throwaway for the CURRENT story. Yes, it does give some sort of stakes, but it's too early to care about characters yet. We don't know what the original TD lore would have been, and they could have let crownless tier enemies capable of speech. But then how do you make things MORE threatening from there? Make then entire characters with voicelines? Let them destroy entire towns? I just can't see a way to scale off of that, purely in terms of their level of threat. If you start out with a level 1 boss that beats everyone down in an instant, where do you go from there without seriously injuring or completely unaliving a character? And I get that crownless was supposed to be Rover's Vegeta, and seeing a TD grow alongside the MC would have been cool, but it all comes down to how they treat TD's, lorewise. Personally, I'd rather have a human or semi human character fill that role, and I know that's biased, but it would give more opportunity for character growth in the story (also another possible interesting playable, but that's purely hypothetical). As for not caring about the characters, I partially agree. Given the 6, or was it 7, acts we had in 1.0 it wasn't enough time to fully flesh out characters, as most come and go within an act or two. The VA work for a lot of characters didn't help either, BUT Kuro already appears to be working on that, so we don't know what, hopefully, improvements will be coming. I can see why people say it was rushed, but purely as an intro, at least IMO, it established the setting and introduced various factions as well as giving some sort of glimpse at the potential we could see (or maybe that's just me being a bit optimistic, because I don't enjoy ragging on the rough spots of projects). As for the climax, I feel like it fell a little more flat because Dreamless was not fighting fully, as she fled in the end. For a true climactic battle, it needs to be a be all end all situation, but that doesn't exactly work in the establishing part of a story, especially when we have little doubt that Dreamless will return. As for the "calm before the storm," as you mentioned, I purely meant that things have not gone downhill yet. I hope that 1.1 portrays the... dread of what is to come after its climax. In the end, I can understand that the 1.0 story was rough, but at least it's a start to something that is, hopefully, great. Genuine question here, what dialogues are you mentioning? Because there was a lot of rambling about various terms, which I will admit, but it at least did something (but then again, that just my perspective). Sorry to ramble on so much, just wanted to get my thoughts across a little easier, lol
Well I'm glad the thumbnail did it's job 😂 and that you enjoyed it and found the video insightful! Maybe stick around and check out some of my other content!
Now i understand why the story feels so void.... Never imagined Crownless was somewhat relevant to the story till the event we're playing today. This was dope af... WHY
@@justnoct my only guess is they were afraid or got some "advice". That if you're targeting young audience you need to lower the "violence" idk. But feels like they HAD to take it out last minute and didn't have time to fill the blanks =/ I didn't play cbt and this is how it literally felt. Something was missing, now I know what.
now imagine if the cbt story flow the same but using other rover we didnt pick set in paralel world, and when the world melded tgt the 2 rover go tgt to fight final boss. that would be so peak
Imagine that happening in the future its going to be a big surprise for sure. Even if they removed the cbt story in main game it's not like they can't do parallel world shenanigans lol so ye who knows what's in store for us.
When the announcement of the 2nd CBT was going around I watched the 1st one to see what was going to be changed, and when I was judging the story, I was a bit confused of what people were complaining about. Either way, there are still lots of directions the story can go, we'll just have to wait and see
Maybe if there was a hybrid of Release and in CBT. Where early story happens in CBT however it then shifts to Jinhsi's message to where Baizhi will act maturely and Chixia would feel guilty and have a strained relationship with Rover. Their relationship would be fixed with a story quest of helping others and fighting against TDs with Chixia. During Chixia's quest, she then explains her side and says sorry. So they both start over and become friends. I placed it like this because of Scar's message of Rover being someone important, thus being respected, but also Rover would be suspected for maybe being a danger to others by Chixia and Baizhi (who are on guard) until Jinhsi's message of Rover's importance. Also I don't know what Reputation points do, so maybe the NPCs are scared of Rover early on (because trusted by the Magistrate but is afraid of the danger Rover may bring), however, as Rover increase their Reputation points, NPCs slowly trust Rover
It's insane how much better the cbt story was than the official release....at least from what you showed. I wonder if the rest of the cbt story was better as well. Can't believe kuro listened to a stupid small portion of beta testers
I mean the rest was pretty negative towards the MC I can admit that, and I wouldn't say it was polished. That being said they could have spent the 9+ months fixing the existing vs replacing it. I mean they removed some great character stories, but those can be added in later again.
I remember seeing a fake leaker in Twitter, saying that the mc was supposed to be scared and nervous and even though it’s fake, I’m more invested in this MC then the one we have now 💀
Bro i agree so much on everything it gave off also more of an apocalyptic atmosphere/vibe. The first few teasers even had yang yang focused cinematics, and she does not seem as important in this version of the story either, or as strong. So much potential. Still love the game as it is rn but compared to what i expected from the original trailers and stuff it is a whole different feeling, there does not feel like there is much threat going on and the story like you stated has many pointless dialogue options. Everything is amazing about this game, just the story could have been better executed if they kept going with their original plans. I want an anime style/gacha game to have an actually engaging story for once, so that we arent left with nothing to really think about after we finish the main quests. Also, 4:26 Black clover anime mentioned?
Well worded and I agree! I wish we could have had a better beginning story but let's see what they can cook in 1.1 onward. Also yes it was 😂 I think the black and white flash back style from Black Clover intense battles was similar.
CBT : it looked too dark ! The story is bad I don’t like girls hating me !
Release : I wanted the world to look more dark ! I liked the direction of the CBT story ! I want it back !
Kuro : man wtf
You just can't win
except the people who wanted it to be dark never switched their opinion. so this doesnt even work. one are babies the others wanted a non genshified story.
There was actually a divide about the story iirc cause some did like that kind of storytelling.
to be honest, the CN players actually ask for a slight change to make our rover to be just slightly more respectable.
in cbt1, our boy got treated like a sack of sh*t even after doing good things. imagine naruto pain arc but instead of the village start liking naruto after he saves them, they dont change their opinion on naruto and still hate him, which is really unreasonable.
the CN player ask for a slight change, but instead kuro for some reason change all of it, which also makes most of CN player become dissastified about it. like, they ask for a slight change, but got a rework that is actually worse that the original.
CBT story looks much more mature. Can we have it back please?
I wholeheartedly agree, it matched the aesthetic and more mature style perfectly!

Player feedback can be a disaster, the direction went down hill just to please "players " who most likely didn't even play the game at launch, kuro needs to stay true to itself and their vision.
I agree, they needed the game to succeed at launch, but I think they went to far from their vision to appease certain player groups and their motives.
true
bug fixes, gameplay stuff yea listen to players but story stuck to ur guts
I imagine some cn crowd jusy watched the cutscenes highlights on bilibili and were enraged by the scene where Chixia points a gun at Rover. I doubt they even knew what the story was about.
CN players base has more voice and sadly their taste for story just too vanilla, and I would curse the mofos that give Kuro the idea to completely redesign my belove Camellya instead of improve upon the original, now she looks like lumine 2.0
Totally agree! Especially feedback from fan-service-hungry sample size.
Kuro really needs to release CBT to other regions, not the the CN because they’re not just the ones playing, but everyone
It's sad that Kuro had to bend to politics once again in gaming. I guess Monsters vs Humans somehow conveys "waifus get beat" lol
CBT1 released for everyone. Not only CN.
Even if they changed the story, they could've kept the Crownless'es entry Cutscene.
Literally this
We lost SO MUCH lore and story back during CBT1 because of the change. Here’s some notable ones I remember:
- Crownless was supposed to be our Vergil.
- We actually could’ve had flashbacks about Rover being from/reincarnated from an advanced civilization.

this is why devs shouldn't give CBT players a golden key because frankly, gamers are stupid.
in the release we got so much missing context.
- Crownless feels like a one off boss that has nothing to do with us
- Scar's attempt to recruit us feels pointless because at that point, everyone is nice to us, why would we consider Scar's persuasion?
- It doesn't make sense why Rover is somewhat have interest in yangyang
- who the fuck is yuanwu? we never met him and suddenly he's helping us?? Shouldn't that be Sanhua?
Exactly! When I saw Yuanwu come out and say "Im going to save everyone" like tf you are where did you come from and who let grandaddy in here 🤣 to be fair they did Papasmacks (Yuanwu) dirty he deserves his own back story. What really got to me was Yangyang and the massive disconnect. The later story making her seem really important meanwhile all we have done is talk and banter for 4 acts lol
Well, Scar did say that everyone is nice to us because they know we are important and they want us on their side, but I agree with everything you said.
I was so confused when Yuanwu randomly showed up lol
first time Yuanwu appeared not only was i confused why he is suddenly here but also why he is so fucking ugly compared to the promo art
Ahh yes, don´t let ppl stress test your game before launching, that always gets good results, the most recent game that went with that mentality and failed hard was Teste Drive Solar Crown.
That's true, remember the final chapter 1 ''defending the town?''
A random gacha character appear without proper story is there whom we almost have no relation whatsoever and during the mc fight against the final boss , Yuanwu appear during his flashback.

That or we were supposed to explore more CSC facilities. Like the side quest where we fight the morning aix could’ve been a main quest with Aalto, Encore, AND the scientist
With Yuanwu I feel like he should’ve been introduced MUCH earlier. Like we definitely could’ve had as the one that runs the simulation training because he runs a boxing gym. Or he could’ve had us go with him to fight some extremely powerful exile group that is terrorizing his gym or his students

(That's what I think at least)
I'm still ok with the final story cause it has its high points. I do hope though that Kuro will use some of the elements in the original story in later arcs.
@@AdamBlob If what you're saying is true then yeah, they went way too far in the other direction. Wuthering waves made 110 million dollars well be fine
@bamboozled_again Dead? Bro, what are you talking about? If anything, it is getting more popular.
Funny I actually addressed this in my last video about the New Player Experience needing work and got absolutely lambasted by dislikes 😅
@@justnoct Ah, when I say I don't see it discussed, I meant more that the CBT version actually did the pacing out of terms and introductions well. I figured the actual flaws with the release start were well known and you do seem to cover them fairly well, plus it's fairly common to comment on the actual story stuff :D
As for the dislikes?
Well worded, I agree!

Chinese is the real problem but atleast they dont effected by those lgbt bs

Exactly! Missing so much inbetween.
i just realized Chixia says Crownless is of the Elite class when it's Overlord.
He evolves with your story progression in the old story.
They can still do some flashbacks that bring up the cutscenes we missed later on
The only things I think the devs can do if they cannot change anything is fix the voiceacting for Yangyang/Chixia/Baizhi and redo the dialogue so it is better understood than a bunch of "sciencey" terms
Tbh I would just wanna see them try changing the intro even if we old players cannot see it ourselves anymore.

Guys please give Kuro Games a break.
I think it's obvious that one of the big factor the 1.0 official release had a lot of bugs and optimizations problems is because of the *story* *rewriting.*
If y'all are planning to make Kuro do a rewriting again, it's gonna cause the same after math again by affecting wuwa down the line.
Hell, some of their 4* stories have the best presentation in that game.

but i suppose having vanilla (soft/light story telling) is the safest way over all
I think you nailed it there!
As someone who played pgr i can pretty much tell that cbt1 was how they WANTED to showcase the Crownless fight, seeing how goated the animations back then were compared to release. Especially the animations of rover absorbing crownless was so much better
Agreed
I've been enjoying Wuwa and its story so far but the scenes you've shown here looks so much better
Hopefully they can bring out some darker tones in 1.2 and beyond
all they needed was a skip button on EVERYTHING, then people who want to skip can skip
I mean yeah that would work 😆
what the hell dude, cbt crownless looks like you just accidentally set foot on the endgame boss's lair as a new player, and now new version is just... sad
Exactly
Ummm CN isnt a "small voice" they are a huge part of the beta testers, the biggest server and current player base and lets not forget 🐳
But still the beta testers is a small number compared to the overall player population bruh
@@oussemamenthole2586do remember that Kuro is a small company, last time they worked at what could be described as "a locked down restaurant", and only moved to a new one not long ago. Even small, every penny counts, and that's also why they couldn't take as much risks as they could.
More like a bunch of lames
You guys see one of the characters hold a gun to Rover’s head and now all of a sudden it’s better than the finalized story that was released with the game
I see Chixia, Baizhi and Yangyang being badass and all of a sudden think damn I might actual build my RC4 Yangyang. People complaining about this exact scene caused us to lose the darker side to Wuthering Waves...
soo true idk what these people defending the change are thinking the story feels so damn bland that all im looking forward to is for that skip button to appear
because not everyone care about the story
I didn't play CBT so I was clueless to what I was missing, and I agree with you. Ever since the very first sneak peek we had of WuWa I was looking forward for a good story with a darker tone, now I feel sad to know that we had and it they decided to take it out
The problem was how hostile everyone was.
Mortefi wanted to experiment on you.
Jihnsi gave the ok.
Sanhua wanted you dead.
Chixia was going to shoot you.
There were other things in the story to add to this on top of rhe npcs being hella cruel/weary of you.
Then the straw that broke the camels back:
Lingyang bragging about him killing inferno rider then telling you "why are you still here" despite being the one who weakened him.
Yeah... the story was leading in the direction of you joining scar and in CN you cant play as a villain by law.
@@justnoct Continue bitching and moaning bud 😭😭
@@justnoct Tales of the Abyss also start with your character being a total a*s who are thought of as a nuisance by everyone, until later he did something so bad that the party literally broke up. So I don't want to make it worse, but Calcharo had a story with his brother and Danjin also had an arc, sorry 😅
Cbt story was better than the official release.
Its sad it was changed...
I am fine with the Chixia change of personally of the release, but ATLEAST do NOT just scrap The whole Crownless fight scene, that is literally the whole plot, and the definition of Overclocking would have been a easier explainatory than just the dialogues
I didn't mind the defensive Chixia, but the rushed 1.0 story removed all the trust issues and turned everyone into cheerleaders.
Woah, didn't expected to see you here
its because of the chinese kids whose playing too much of genshin they dont want a loosing side of the heroes and they dont want the MC to be a suspicious person they want more buddy buddy eventhough u just saw each other a few seconds ago they all have this PROTAGONIST SYNDROME hahaha and they all feel like they are the MC that they are playing they cant separate games to reality.
they should stick to genshin we dont need them here. they just ruined it
@@reisaizel4562 i 100% agree
They literally ruined it wtf
This is the result of you guys feedback.
I mean I appreciate that you think I could have any impact or sway on what Kuro does, but select regions were in CBT and I had no feedback against this story.
the beginning of cbt 1 is better but overall the cbt1 story was more ass than what it is now
Finally someone who actually care about game 😭. My opinion is actually the same
They need to remake the 1.0 story of the game imo if they want to attract new players
@@foolhd7760 yea if they made a mix of the old and new story then that would’ve been perfect but they rushed it to make the deadline😔
Is the cbt still available to playable bc i would perfer to play that then what we have now. It genuinely feels like we were robbed of the great potential and story they had prepared but did a whole 180
wow CBT 1.0 story is really good
I got goosebumps with CBT STORY WHAT THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER OMG
What a raw video, the only good thing about cbt1 is just ghe crownless intro, other than that everything else is worse
It's obvious that it won't cover these problems, but that only makes the video dishonest because it implies that just one excerpt makes the overall story better when it actually doesn't.
YOU'RE SERIOUSLY GOING TO LEAVE HIM UNATTENDED IN A RANDOM PLACE IN THE CITY, AREN'T YOU GOING TO DO ANY CHECK ON HIS BODY?
ok, just the other day we meet with chixia again and we go to the main tower to see the data bank of our terminal (no check up on rover's body, she forgot) the bell rings and another shock drama comes with chixia, The bell is for funeral and she worries about Yangyang and says we shouldn't follow her and runs away, SECOND TIME SHE LEFT ROVER ALONE WHEN SHE WAS THE ONE SUPPOSED TO BE KEEPING AN EYE ON HIM. ok rover goes to the bell alone and yangyang appears well, rover says he thought something had happened to her and chixia says "hey don't jinx her"...bro this sequence is ridiculous it looks like a child who wrote this wanting to do drama
Man a can go in so much thing, inconsistencies etc.
@@whatamess8894 Please do this is great insight! Again I knew some of this but not all of it!
I wish more people with this mindset watched my last vid. I made most of these points and got absolutely dislike bombed haha. Its so true!

CBT1 story had alot of yap with no development for the MC and side characters, the "distrust" they had on Rover no sense at all. Blud literally saved them and resembles a hero of jinzhou everyone knows.
Bro is really judging the whole story like that when we are only in 1.0
I'm saying to you, when the story starts developing in next updates this video *probably* will age like milk
@@justnoct I understand the sentiment, I just think we need to give them more time to cook
The introduction now is not as good as before because Crownless is not as badass as he was.
I agree, but the dislikes on that video seem to agree with him 😅
@@justnoct dw bout it dude. That doesn't make em right still, they just can't swallow the pill. You doing good as creator, imma sub
He’s right, gameplay first. But there’s more to it, such as story 😢

That was the goal to show people some of the good the original story had for Wuthering Waves. Hopefully they can deliver in the upcoming patches!
Thank you for bring this up, I didn't knew how the story was and I agree, I would have enjoyed more if was that original one
That's why I made the vid!
When the announcement of the 2nd CBT was going around I watched the 1st one to see what was going to be changed, and when I was judging the story, I was a bit confused of what people were complaining about. Either way, there are still lots of directions the story can go, we'll just have to wait and see
Yeah exactly. That's the right outlook. Let's see what they cook up in 1.1 onward
We can thank CN players!!!
I'm glad you actually spoke about this.
Thank you 🙏
Wow, the cutscenes in the cbt looked like an actual anime storyline
I remember seeing a fake leaker in Twitter, saying that the mc was supposed to be scared and nervous and even though it’s fake, I’m more invested in this MC then the one we have now 💀
Dang yeani like the progression 10x better. Why did they change it wtf. Probably bcs everyone complained that the story sucked from BETA TESTERS
Rather, it's the CN people that ruined it
Wow, im glad i watched this. And sad they removed this from the full launch. I hope they dont do this again and really think about it from now on.
I felt this way too, this give a character development story and you can feel dark vibe apocalypse stories.
Also,
4:26 Black clover anime mentioned?
Well worded and I agree! I wish we could have had a better beginning story but let's see what they can cook in 1.1 onward.
Also yes it was 😂 I think the black and white flash back style from Black Clover intense battles was similar.
I had no idea what overclocking was until I watched this video
That's why I made the vid!
