Helldivers 2 - NEW Patch Nerfed SOLO Helldive (ICBM Launch All Objectives/Outposts)

  • "Patrol spawning has been increased when there are fewer than 4 players. The fewer the players the bigger the change. For 4 player missions there will be no change compared to before.The biggest noticeable change will be for solo players at higher difficulties."
    Thoughts:
    Questionable change from the Devs. Seems like if you don't play the game the way they want, they will nerf your playstyle. People who were playing solo helldive will still be able to do it... this change will mainly hurt people at lower levels trying to level up but not having anyone to play with or not wanting to queue up with randoms. Overall, still doable, but depending on the map, this could make things much more difficult.

    Seems excessive, raising the patrols to this scale. They are overestimating solo players or they actually want to stamp solo play out.

    • @Not_Harvard

      Their reasoning was it's just bringing solo experience to where it was originally intended. According to them, solo players have been getting 1/6th the amount of patrols that a full squad was getting. The original intent was to get 1/4th and this patch just corrects their earlier mistake. It doesn't feel like that, but the reason they gave.

    • @leeham6230

      @@Not_Harvard Solo players SHOULD get 1/6th of the patrols, because one helldiver is a force multiplier. 2 Helldivers are 3x more effective than one. You can cover each other's backs, and split up to take objectives efficiently. Only one bug breach can happen at once, so it's easy to divide and conquer.
      IDK why the devs can't see this.

    Devs said the patrol spawning was not functioning properly spawning 1/6th the intended spawns for solo players instead of 1/4 of a 4 person group. Still, feels like a slap in the face when seeing how those numbers play out in real play. All my buddies quit this game so it is feeling lonely now sadge. Great gameplay, keep up the good content.

    Insane change, while I do appreciate the challenge. It's pretty lame reasoning. I simply don't like playing in squads of randoms on high difficulty in almost any game. When my friends aren't on I solo or duo usually...not to mention on PC in many 4 player matches you can get disconnected or your frame rate can get completely annihilated when random people run to every corner of the map aggroing everything in sight. Would've been a better more fun and balanced change to keep the spawn increase but limit the amount of heavy units still. Also there are times when randoms join my game and I might as well be solo because they're just running around freaking out 😂

      I occasionally enjoy playing with randoms, but it's never fun to die once and wait 3 minutes because your squad has gone through 20 reinforcements. This really sucks for solo players but it also sucks for squads that are left with one or two players looking for others. Those of us that know that there will be more patrol spawns will automatically bounce if there's just one or two players in a match. This is an unintended consequence that AH have unleashed on themselves by punishing single players.

    Patrol spawn rates were increased from previous levels when playing with fewer players. But OVERALL the most patrols spawn for 4 player teams. They won't notice any DIFFERENCE because their spawns are unchanged; solo players will notice the most difference because relative to before this patch, their spawns increased the most. The devs have stated that spawn rates of patrols for solo players went from 1/6th of that of a 4 man team to 1/4th.

    The reason for the change I think has to do with the supplies a solo player has access to. Also it’s a game they want people to play together. I thinks it’s possible to play solo at level 7 and 8. But they want folks to work together and it seems fair that the higher difficulty would push for less solo play.

      I don't think supplies played a big part in the decision to nerf solo helldive. The value you get from increased number of stratagems in squad play far outweighs the value of extra supplies playing solo.

    this is misleading. solo helldivers did not receive a nerf. AH issued more detailed response to this. They stated that patrol spawns were not scaling correctly and instead of solo divers receiving 1/4 the spawns a normal 4 player party would they were in fact only receiving 1/6 the spawns so it was unintentionally easier. So AH was just correcting that issue. Does everyone think that the hardest difficulty in the game should be possible in a coop game playing solo??? honestly seems to me that a lvl 9 difficutly mission should only be possible with a group. There are people out there who are just insanely good, what you would call "pro" level, and might be able to solo but they are the exception not the norm. If its too hard all you have to do is turn down the difficulty. I think the main issue here is peoples EGO more then anything else.

    • @Not_Harvard
      @Not_Harvard  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All they would have had to do to test if spawn rate was correct was put different amounts of players in the lobby then check spawn rate. If the spawn rate wasn't 1/4th the amount from when 4 people were in there it's a simple thing to find and fix. They had years of development and 3k+ hours of devs playing to find it and they only mention it after 2 months of players soloing helldive. I don't believe them when they say it's just a fix to get the spawn rate to where it's originally intended to be.

    lol the difficulty is called HELLDIVE it should be hard af. FWIW it makes for a lot better VOD. Watching you guys getting swarmed and fighting your way through is a lot more entertaining. Players always have the option to lower the difficulty too and work their way back up.

    • @Not_Harvard

      Personally, I don't mind a challenge. The reasoning they gave is that essentially solo players were getting 1/6th the amount of patrols a full party was getting. The original intent was to get 1/4th the amount, and this patch is just correcting that. I'm not entirely sure I believe that, but it is what it is. You're about to see some 1500 kill terminid games coming from solo players though. I guarantee it.

      @@Thatbeardedguy86 I'll preface this by saying I don't know how to code, so I could be wrong... but in order to test the spawn rate for enemies, wouldn't they just have to put different amounts of players in the lobby then look at the numbers? Is it really something much more complicated than that? How is that something that wasn't spotted in the years of development? There are Devs with combined 3k hours of playtime, and they just recently noticed that enemy spawns aren't correct when playing solo?

  • @iancharless
    @iancharless 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What you are saying is not true . The devs said that the balancing should be a 1:1 ratio of patrols. So 4 players get all the possible patrols. 3 players get 3/4, 2 players get 2/4 and single players get a 1/4 ratio. Before patch it was more like 1/6th. So yes they made it harder for solo players but it is in direct correlation of how they intended to be now. 1/6th was not 1/4th so your game just got by my calculations got 8.33% harder. Which is what it should have been to begin with. No wonder why single player gameplay is easier and that's because it always was. Hardly any patrols. Just bots on bases and easy to run away from. Hopefully this will make it more challenging.
