i just gotta get this off my chest; any card game less complex than yu-gi-oh doesn't do enough to justify its existence. hearthstone is awful and no game should aim to emulate it.
That's what I thought about Marie at first, but I'll admit the bit with the Revolution breaking out mid game was kind of amusing. Like back in the day when I played ccgs that's the kind of deck that would appeal to me.
This game looks like trying to use the Total War IP to cash in on the ability to easily fit microtransactions into card games where players appear to be more accepting of them being present

You don't appear to understand how engagement works. I couldn't get the same enthusiasm Jon had while watching the video so I downvoted it after only watching for about 10 or so minutes. The reason why I didn't like the video has nothing to do with Jon per say but I did not enjoy the video for one reason or another. Therefore it gets a downvote. Do not try to protect your favorite youtubers from downvotes, THEY WANT THE FEEDBACK, POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE. A thumbs down does not hurt them at all on the platform except if they have fragile egos and can't handle any sort of negative in their life.. It's purely engagement that helps them understand the overall reception. In fact many channels have caught on to telling their users to vote what they really think so they don't end up in some sort of vacuum chamber that doesn't mirror users actual feelings on the videos. That can only hurt creators.

Great. Blizzard saw the rising popularity of Magic: the Gathering (and Wizard's move into the digital world with it) and thought, what if we rip that off, but worse. And made Hearthstone. Then the Elder Scrolls and the Witcher (twice!) thought what if we rip THAT off, but worse. And now we have Total War. Once again, ripping THAT off. It's like none of these companies realise that the popularity of Magic: the Gathering is heavily tied to the fact that it's a game that's been polished and perfected over the last 27 YEARS.
Spartan Total Warrior was a great PS2 game! I shan't hear a word against it! That game introduced me to Jason Isaacs when I was younger, playing the villain Sejanus. It also had some of the worst Dynasty-Warriors-Esque voice acting in it as well, which was also great! :P

It appears as though they are grabbing elements from every card game they can find (Hearthstone, Gwent, Elder Scrolls Legends etc.) and smooshing them together without any regard for whether or not it even carries the Total War theme.
This game might be a good option for someone who's never played a total war game, a little intro to the characters if you will. But as a total war player playing this I found it quite frustrating. It's probably just that when I saw it on steam I thought it was going to be a traditional total war game where you got to pit all of your favorite generals against each other.
Now that we are going through the back catalog of strange Total war spin-offs. I feel like a video on Spartan: Total Warrior is relevant. Perhaps as a livestream (in the same vein as ride to hell).
When the thing that links all total war games is the gameplay elements included, removing all the game play elements and calling it total war is odd to say the least. You have total war in many different settings but its always that core gameplay loop, now you have total war without that gameplay even a little... odd
You know, if the battlefield looks is more traditional total war look it might look interesting. Imagine it the summoned troops turns into a stack of troops on the field rather than boring token.
Does anyone else think it's funny that Napoleon's ability is logistics, even though he famously lost his campaign in Russia due to a lack of supplies? Though he is famous for saying 'an army marches on its stomach.' Still, I thought it was kinda funny.
People are downvoting because they don't like the idea of the game, and just not watching the video, whereas if you had actually watched the video, you'd see Jon finishing the video saying, "I don't like this game because it doesn't feel like a Total War game."

It looks as if the developers wanted to make a physical cardgame. If they did that and it was a good game I might be interested. You pick up an ancient/medieval/modern era deck with two or three generals and their special cards. They could put out boosters. I would object if they made that random MtG style. A half cost booster with another handful of generals would add variety. It would take a ton of playtesting to make it a solid game, but maybe that is what they are doing with this. It is the sort of thing I would rather play face to face with a friend than play online against a stranger.
I don't actually even think this looks like a bad game if you're into card games, but it needs to be its own thing rather than piggybacking on an unrelated franchise
