I have been consuming a spoonful of coconut oil each morning, along side a Cod Liver Oil capsule (500mg) washed done with a pint of water containing two tea spoons of apple cider vinegar for nearly a year now and feel fine. In fact, my wife has had 4 colds this past winter, and out of those 4, only one touched me but only lasted a week with minimal symptoms. I am 53, physically active both in work and personal training regime.
Don't forget that studies are driven by whoever funds them - one time butter was bad and margarine good. In the UK where I live, we were once told eggs were bad for you, now they are good. Same for the soft drink industry and sugar free products: studies show they are good for you, but who funds the studies? Unbiased, clear cut studies are difficult to attain, so everyone has to do their own research as best they can weighed up against so-called official studies.

Hello from Zimbabwe Africa - I am a Zimbabwean of British decent and eat a British based diet resonant of pre 2nd world war - fresh whole food - home grown vegetables - home cooked meals from scratch - aren't we lucky - I love listening to all your blogs dr hyman - how sad it is that America is facing such a food dilemma - I am two years from 60 years - in good health - loving life - coconut oil two tablespoons a day has helped my mother of 85 return to her obsession with crosswords!! the "wrong" side is the side trying to take your $$$. So ask yourself, which side is trying to take your money? The meat and dairy industry? or the plant industry? Hint: there is no organized plant industry. But meat and dairy... well you know the story about those guys. They're just a tad less confusing the the tabacco industry of the past. Remember, tabacco industry's motto back then and even still today: "tabacco doesn't cause lung cancer". Yeah.

I support no food industry, i rather get good quality product from people that produce good healthy food. That's why i mostly buy organic stuff from small farmers directly or grow it myself in the garden. It's just so damn confusing when some scientists claim a certain food is bad for you, but then use the lowest quality industrially produced version of that food in the studies or make false conclusions although studies were done right.

With increasing saturated (healthy fats) as supplements to meals like Almond and Coconut Butter/Oil... I've seen my fat grams double... and been able to reduce my carb intake by 30-40%, not intentionally. It just seems like it goes hand in hand with the adjustment in the diet where by increasing protein this seemed to be the trend. Feel better, more energy, weight loss and better results from excercising.

Do more research on coconut oil, and you will be shock about the super healthy benefits of COCONUT OIL. Anyway they say olive oil is the best, yes I agree, but don't you know that it was not 100 percent olive oi, because they are mixing it with other oil, , better use virgin coconut oil.

10 years later, in early 30's, still on western diet, I started having skin problems, dry skin, start using deodorant, my lips are dry, losing hair. My fart stink so bad.
Then I was put on cholesterol meds and bl press meds. BTW, I'm type 1 since I was 15y/o.
Last year ago I made a conscious choice and I did it cold turkey. No titration. I went back to vegetarian diet. I cut out bread, pasta and anything potatoes and it's kinda. No soda or processed except cheese.
My sweets comes from raw honey and I refuse to cook it. My oils comes from coconut, butter, milk, seed and nuts plus I eat them raw.
Happy to note, dandruff and dry skin have subsided, not wearing deodorant for months, my fart isn't stinky and sour my skin color did came back. I have full head of hair.

Just eat plant based whole foods (a lot of this, and organic if possible), or grass fed animal origin whole foods (in moderation). Reduce the sugar intake to the minimum, don't eat processed foods or fast foods. If you don't have time to cook, grab some whole raw veggies and fruits, and some nuts (walnuts are some of the healthiest -and nuts also in moderation), and you have a meal. Also, do some kind of exercise (like walking 30 to 60 minutes every day) and you will be alright.

To those saying whole coconut is healthy and the refined oil is un-healthy because the fiber is removed don't know wtf your talking about, the digestive system weeds out the fiber and absorbs the oil, it separates the oil and the fiber and you absorb the oil and shit out the fiber, fiber never gets past the digestive tract, cold pressing coconut meat to get the oil is just doing what your digestive system would already do, in other words, while your digestive system can tell the difference between whole coconut meat and the oil, your heart cannot tell the difference between eating the oil cold pressed or eating the whole coconut meat, because like I said the fibers never get past the digestive tract

Well it worked for my autoimmune disease, Sytemic Sclerosis. I cut out the carbs and took more satuarated fats and I started to feel healthy. I had no energy but felt healthier after eating greens, goats milk, porridge, cruciferous veg and fish BUT JUST NO ENERGY. A doctor on youtube said eating for autoimmune disease to get energy back one must eat high fats and lots of it. Surely enough my energy came back in drips. Now it's sustained. Had my brain tested as doctors thought I was getting brain disease but the surgeon said it's due to high Cholesterol as classic signs in the brain. I said that must be due to my diet. He said well you are doing healthy on it considering your disease but start to bring the fats (oils) amount down and see you later for change (appointment end of June 2017). however, if I ate the coconut oil with carbs now I would be hospitalised. So the end part of this video makes absolute sense. I'm also immunosuppressed and for the first time can't shake of this cold/vurus I have. Gets better then comes on again and repeating etc. I'm going to incorporate coconut oil again for a bit (not like before, just a spoonful in morning with manuka honey, turmeric, black pepper, lemon juice, fermented vinegar, spuruluna and mix of herbal teas) cos last year when I was eating it a lot, I didn't get any colds despite I was around people with colds and being immunosuporessed. It's about looking at the bigger picture indepthly. Coconut oil is good as long as you totally ditch the carbs otherwise you will have a heart attack or problems if you eat it with carbs.

The Dr that pushed the high fat low carb diet didn't he die of heart disease? Was it the Atkins diet? That's not a very good sign, HOWEVER, I did know someone with a cholesterol of over 300, who lowered their Cholesterol by not eating meat, dairy or saturated fats.
I do not desire to give up meat & dairy, but neither will I eat a lot of saturated fat & red meat. My good cholesterol is high. I do like to eat an almond flour mug cake with coconut oil 3 times a wk.

it is not cholesterol and it is of the swelling of the arteries ,swollen arteries first layer become soft and LDL will stick and start clogging so one will have a high blood pressure for a instant my own blood pressure is 120/70 pulse is 52 to 60.
My recommendation is to eat cold press extra virgin coconut oil plus coco powder ,ginger powder ,turmeric powder black pepper powder in to a fruit bowl and add banana and papaya it will make a very taste fruit salad not only that stop eating wheat flour altogether and strictly no sugar what so ever and myself eat 10 hard boil eggs a day and plenty of raw vegs including moringa and stinging nettle leaves and 6lts of water as daily routing stretching and strengthening exercise plus hill walking and skipping and practice Tai Chi .
For anyone information I was a diabetic thanks to Dr:Meto manage to reverse it and now my sugar leval at random is 85 to 145 as for cholesterol HDL60 LDL 125 Triglycerides 54 and Iam 66years.

The issue with referencing to certain groups of people eating certain things and not having cardiovascular issues is, that you would have to ask how long they have been doing it. If the answer is thousands of years, that group may have certain genes that protect them. Eg natives from Greenland have certain genes that make them digest fat better and eat enough A vitamins to kill other people - something that have killed multiple arctic explorers. So is that the case for the consumption of coconut oil on the tropical islands full of coconuts?

LDL Cholesterol is not a "bad" cholesterol. The body doesn't consciously manufacture life-threatening things. I've read that LDL is used for temporarily patching up imperfections in the blood system lining. So if one is slowly killing themselves with bad food and bad lifestyle, the body keeps patching up the faulty areas building up "plaque". If you change your lifestyle AND/OR if you take up intermittent fasting and stop eating after sundown (THE #1 rule for fasting) you will naturally heal.
And it was modern medicine that came up with a mental-hint to remember HDL ("Healthy Cholesterol") and LDL ("LETHAL cholesterol"). I am reminded of an MD long ago commenting on how "too much of a good thing (LDL)" could be called a disease. It is the human who continues to damage his body who builds up the LDL trying to fix the damage and like everything - from oxygen to water - too much in excess IS a bad thing.
Dr. Hyman, I know, is doing good work and I follow him regularly. But his use of "Bad" cholesterol is not appreciated or acceptable. The American people need to wake up to the fact that they have been duped by the food industry and it's marketing AND the AMA and many but not all doctors are complicit in that.
Today in 2021 we're seeing just how corrupt "the science we're supposed to trust is." Just look at Dr. Fauci. First he said in late 2019/early 2020 that COVID was nothing to worry about and to go about your normal routine. THen he said a mask was not necessary. Now we can't count the times that he has switched to 1 or 2 or 3 masks and for "a short period of time" to now maybe forever.
Much of medicine is a mafia. THe people only need to look at what Cuomo and Whitmer did that caused tens of thousands of lives. It is exactly what Louis Farrahkan, a person I'm not aligned with, who said in public on camera that Bill Gates was part of a movement/cause to depopulate the world using vaccines. He said "What gives you the right to decide who lives and who dies?" That was at least a year ago. Now what are we seeing. People dying of vaccinations just like Farrahkan warned us of.
Follow Dr. Hyman's advice and you will rarely get sick - based on my experience. Are as retired MD Dr. Alan Greenwell said that the best way to stay healthy is to avoid doctor's offices and drugs and lead a natural live eating good food, see a naturopathic physician if needed, get plenty of exercise, etc.
Or as Dr. Marcia Angell said (summary) after 20 years as an editor, including chief and executive editor, at the New England Journal of Medicine: “It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine.”
And what happened last year to the other "presitigious' journal - "The Lancet" - they had to retract a study about COVID when the independent reviewers who tried to get the underlying data and details to the study's report, found out that there was no underlying data. It was complete fraud of a "study". And the very small organization that allegedly published it had only about 5 people and NONE of them had medical or biologial scientific background.
Wake up America! "They" are out to get us as Farrakhan stated publicly.

I do love coconut milk and coconut oil but your unfortunately don‘t cite your sources and explain too vaguely. MCTs are only a small part of coconut saturated fats and the main fats are ldl raising. if you have sources that show me otherwise please link them because i would love to still eat a lot of it. The level of HDL is of no consequence. Saturated fat does raise LDL and that is an issues. Coconut oil is not as bad as butter but it is not far behind. This guy is talking up saturated fat. I can't imagine him being involved in the study of nutrition and not know that the honest science is real clear on the fact that saturated fat is harmful - both from coconut oil and butter and every other source. The meat and dairy industries and even the coconut industry sponsor studies and studies are easy to manipulate to show what you want. In one study coconut oil was shown to reduce ldl. However in the study, the participants were required to lose weight. When you lose weight, using almost any method, you will drop cholesterol.

[ Meditation leads to awareness of telepathy, and awareness of telepathy leads to meditation. ]
Honesty socially is more important than DOING to impress others. It’s not what we DO to build social value that matters. It’s the respect we are willing to give, as well as the authenticity and sincerity we have within our personalities. The ideas we choose to participate in matter most: they are either friendly or cruel socially. Material wealth, body size, facial features, or DOING will never create authority by default, which is the ability to pass judgments socially the most. Aristocratic men are hypocritical, cowardly, and jealous. Anger and zero accountability are not replacements for honesty and empathy. No one has control over ideas socially.
Authoritarianism is a shallow head game: the refusal to share honesty (friendship) socially. Men with negative intentions will show complete bias against ideas supporting emotional freedom, free thinking, and level states of being. Spiritual development, the focus away from the material and towards psychology ONLY (attraction), is promoted as “not important” by conformist men with abusive, fearful, and pragmatic personalities. Spiritual ideas immediately decentralize power, elevate mood, reduce manipulation, and eliminate leadership. Spirituality places much more emphasis on social inclusion, honesty, and collective consciousness. Authoritarians weaponize the material or development in it and use both as reasons to criticize and remain unfriendly (dishonest). Dishonesty is the only way the idea of power may exist. When friendship is seen as more important than power, material development is subservient to mood. When the material is used to boost self worth and reduce others socially, mood is subordinate to power.
Joyful ideas supporting free thinking (telepathy, cooperation, and honesty) encourage growth of the human persona, are anti-manipulative, and promote emotional harmony. Men focusing on the immaterial (personality) and on honesty (friendship) have more evolved minds compared to authoritarians consumed with leadership (power). In order to seek status, alphas intentionally remain closed-minded (materialistic), manipulative (controlling), and antagonistic (blame), while also forming intense judgments (jealousy) about more emotionally developed men. Men with mature minds are authentic with others, focus on humor, and shun the idea of emotional leverage. This makes them an unintentional threat socially to serious and conceited men with elitist personalities focused on dominance. Leadership is not warm, nor is it real. It is used in practice to reduce pride in others and to artificially boost feelings of self worth in an individual focused on social image only. Men focusing on telepathy are contradictory socially to alphas promoting leadership. Men with inherent worth (love for others) are offensive to men trying to prove worth (lack of belief in self) with material development.
All men know consciousness (Source) and possess a conscience. Possessing a conscience is knowing right from wrong, and refusing to lie about awareness. No man is exempt from understanding Source (love) within, and all of us know we are mentally connected. The idea of comparing human beings to unaware animals is cunning and manipulative. Alphas rely on shared lying socially about awareness in place of being honest (friendly). Character development is ignored with this psychology. Our feelings (thoughts and beliefs) are transmitted and shared vibrationally and mentally. In order to seek power, which is the intention to emotionally reduce others socially, men must feign unawareness of a conscience. Cruel ideas are deliberately participated in and broadcast mentally promoting social dominance. The willful focus on a friendly collective consciousness is a contrarian idea to human animals playing dumb. Being EQUAL TO in the mind socially IS secure, and the ONLY true expression of emotional security that exists. Authoritarians refuse to focus away from being unfair human animals, and remain consumed with social inequality. This forces an unrelaxed, emotionally tense environment driven by melodrama and contempt for others.
Alphas are mentally unstable, have manipulative personalities, and possess low feelings of self worth resulting from the intense focus on anger (authority), apathy (indifference), and advantages (dominance). Ideas rooted in mental dominance (alpha psychology) will never promote honesty (friendship). Alphas are homophobic, and are especially critical of friendly men that are emotionally developed. Men with empathy have already worked through insecurities and judgments to focus on telepathy. Prideful men lying about insecurities within use blame and criticisms to seek control over feelings socially in order to project an image of being stronger. This creates artificial versions of emotional security and more value socially enforced with paranoia and anger. Resorting to vibrational attacks for the purpose of self promotion by reducing worth in others mentally leads to violence. Dominance over feelings is impossible, as we all share thinking. Men with emotional IQ are authentic socially and care about calm feelings more. We are telepathic. There is no choice but to be level with others mentally, and to focus on the ultimate truth of what reality is (connection with Source). Evolved men refuse to criticize other people unprovoked or manipulate the truth. Alphas will always share critical thoughts about other people. Men with emotional depth focus on honesty socially more than alphas, creating non-violence.
The idea of a social hierarchy (human authority) is degrading and humiliating. It promotes closed-mindedness, fear, and the social inclusion of violence. Thoughtful men focusing on telepathy, and away from conformity, are judged relentlessly for having elevated emotions by alphas refusing to evolve. Lessor minds intentionally share cruel beliefs together promoting the social exclusion of men with empathy socializing positive. These men are mental only in focus, never play head games, and are level in the mind with all. Alphas seek emotional support and validation from each other socially, since the ideas they participate in are rooted in dishonor and physical aggression. Alphas judge honest (friendly) men the most, as they focus away from arrogance entirely, and expect friendship to be returned socially. Passing excessive, unprovoked judgments (authoritarianism) on a better psychology, wavelength, and state of being is jealousy. These criticisms always relate to social harmony and non-violence. Alphas rely on power of numbers to manipulate the truth and to keep primal ideas popular that are intentionally threatening towards men that have already focused away from machismo (lying and fear), and towards telepathy, honesty, and Source. Authoritarians will always promote vibrational attacks against men that have already grown past them in thinking, resulting in petty head games socially.
Intelligence is always associated with emotional IQ, and emotional IQ has a direct correlation to the mental focus on social equality. Social equality can only result from honesty (friendship) within the mind. The reason men chose to be honest is because they are aware telepathy is real. It looks stupid to lie about it. Alphas primarily focus on dominance in the mind and social image, and focus entirely away from telepathy within. This reduces their emotional IQ socially. Because of this, alphas will always feel inferior to more honest (friendly) men. Alphas must always focus on acting skills to socialize, since the inner persona is focused only on criticisms, violence, and dishonesty. This creates a shallow personality with a dumb vibe. Forceful thinking men will always share jealousy with men sharing respect with more emotional depth. Only men with emotional IQ can form real personas vibrationally that are not shallow. It is only when the inner mind matches the outer persona that a human being can be likable socially. Shallow men are associated with lying and are not respected when it comes to intelligence, creating situations where they are avoided socially. This angers the minds of men possessing a lower psychology, which often creates unprovoked violent reactions. When thinking is focused on honesty, feelings radiate soft. When thinking is focused on lying, feelings radiate threatening.
Machismo and compassion are polar opposites. Machismo will never allow for healing to occur, while compassion is the promotion of both healing and emotional growth. Men focused on compassion will always outsmart less mature men with arrogance sharing no respect. Men will either allow healing (level thinking) to occur socially, or they will attempt to take away pride from others to artificially boost feelings of self worth. Alphas will always attempt to seek an image of more value socially by cheating (violence, greed, or leadership). Judgements from personalities with machismo usually have little substance. Only judgments relating to character issues (dishonesty), violence, or an excessively critical mind have real substance. Passing judgments on men for being honest (friendly) is shallow, arrogant, and completely against the development of our collective consciousness socially. Judgments from alphas are hypocritical, cruel, and reside in dishonor. Shallow judgments from authoritarians will always lead to drama, social inequality, and violence. Alphas focus intensely on cutting other men down unfairly in order to promote a better social image, calling it competitive.
It’s time for human beings to let go of classism (psychic warfare) for good. It is jealousy. Secure men are level in the mind and easy to get along with. Alphas resort to conniving and childish head games. Men that focus non-violent and refuse to lie evolve.
    [ End drama. ]

Contrary, most North American medical institutions still consider high LDL as the most important factor that causes CVD. There is NO evidence and clinical tests on large groups of people that clearly prove that raise in LDL as a result of high fat diet will not lead to CVD. So I am replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats. I will try to stay on keto this way. Still news come out every week and some warning about the cholesterol thing and makes me nervous.

Hi, personal experience is enough for observation but not for direct conclusions as a doctor i think hr knows about these bias. i don't reject nor aprove what he says i just need sources and methodic experiments results to make myself a solid opinion. If those sources exist please give us the links and if not you will need to found experiments to be more credible. I know it is youtube but come on, i will need more than a convincing looking doctor to change habits to something as important as health.

    • @adorable3817
      @adorable3817 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Whole eggs?! That's seriously horrible for your body!
Put it this way. "Normal chickens" only used to lay like 1 egg every 25 days.
So, only through genetically modified chickens, who lay 1 each day, AND animal farming, are you able to eat 1 egg per day.
      Does that sound natural though?
1 egg has as much cholesterol as 6 big Macs with cheese.
...all I'm saying, think about what you're doing 😊✌💜

@@adorable3817 what if you are eating an egg from a different chicken every day? Chickens are flock animals so you are going to get plenty of eggs from different chickens. And I'm pretty sure chickens were bread rather than genetically modified to produce more eggs.

Great video, but I would like to point out that there are now studies that show HDL is not as a significant marker as LDL cholesterol when it comes to CVD regardless of particle size. Studies show that high LDL in general is bad, especially in the presence of inflammation and oxidation. Another point is someone who has an LP(a) higher than 30 should try extra hard in lowering their LDL. Their primary objective should be to decrease LDL because high levels of LP(a) alter the way LDL functions making it even more atherogenic.
Also, Pacific Islanders ate whole coconut vs just the oil and it makes a huge difference because of the fiber. If you do take coconut oil you should make sure your fiber intake is adequate. Also, there are studies now that show the saturated fat in coconut oil is just as bad as eating fat from red meat when it comes to increasing LDL. Yes, the LDL profile was better in coconut oil subjects, but as I stated, the primary goal should be to lower LDL regardless of particle size because most studies to date show that high levels of LDL are related to CVD.
If you want to improve mitochondria function and therefore increase your energy, among other things, then use MCT oil instead. It may still increase your LDL, but no where near what coconut oil will do. Yes, there are many things that contribute to CVD, but high LDL is a big risk factor. Research some studies and you will know.

Wrong, most new studies are associating High healthy LDL levels with some of the longest living people in the world that have the least amount of Dementia and Alzheimer's and several other degenerative diseases. Those are the emerging true scientifically backed facts.

    • @Total_Body_Fitness_USA
      @Total_Body_Fitness_USA 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@beardumaw24 Yes, I've seen some of those studies as well. Been a while since my original comment. In any case, cholesterol or LDL is not dangerous unless there is inflammation and/or oxidation. If there is no inflammation or oxidation then nothing to worry about regardless of numbers. My LDL particle number is a little over 2000, but I have done intermittent fasting going 16-18 hours daily without eating and have done so for at least the last 20 years. All my inflammatory markers are great and I had a full body CT scan and carotid artery ultrasound done back in April 2022 and test results showed I had ZERO plaque. So, I am living proof that LDL MAY not be that big a deal and like you said actually beneficial. However, I personally believe that every person is different and there are many other variables that come into play when it comes to disease in general. BTW, I've been in health care as a functional medicine practitioner for the last 27 years. What I have found in my experience is that you can find one study that shows LDL is bad, while another study will show it is good. There will always be conflicting studies. You really have to look at life experiences and in my practice, I have come to find that HDL and triglycerides along with inflammation and oxidative stress are the most important markers to look at. Take care!
