Almost 71 now in 2022 and I've moved on to Classical and the music of Kern, Gershwin, Porter, etc. But oh how these songs take me back to the days when I was young and the world was mine to explore. The buddies , the girlfriends I knew , the cars , and most of all the music. What a wonderful time it was to be young , and how bittersweet to remember .
The best of times culminating in the summer of love. The world changed in 68 with the deaths of Martin and Bobby, important and irreplaceable people who were on our side.
I feel so blessed, as most every 'boomer' does, to have grown up to such wonderful and beautiful music, 50's, 60's, 70's, performed by individuals and groups that were 'over the top' with talent (way, way too many to begin to list). This song alone, 'Because', just lights my heart with 'smiles' whenever I hear it. As far as the pop music of the last several generations, not even close. So, yes...I definitely feel blessed.
You're absolutely right and I'm a very big Beatles fan. Only music I listen to at home or in my car are all the songs of the 50's, 60's, 70's and sometimes the 40's.

This is my favorite DC5 song of all time. Sadly, a lot of the group have passed on, but they left some great music behind for us to enjoy. Still rocking it in 2021!
Well may i add my vote for this also being my favourite song by them! I prefer the beat ballad love songs they recorded to their more stomping songs like"glad all over"and"bits and pieces" i think Lennon and McCartney would have been proud to have wrote this as I can imagine the Beatles singing this! But Written by Mike Smith and Dave Clark, they shown they were up there with the best of them when they wrote and recorded this. I also love" come home"by the DC5. Also one of the few groups back in the 60s that conquerd America at the 1st attempt! So sad three members of the group have now passed away, but their music and wonderful lead singing voice of mike Smith and the fantastic harmonies of the rest of the group, specially on this record, means their music will live on forever! 🎶🎶👍👍🛵

Marc Ackerman If you think of it, you have the best of every generation so far!! I grew up in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, and was a young adult in the 80’s. In the 90’s, I got busy, and was not into music, and same with the 2000’s...but I briefly hear it now, and not too thrilled. I am Japanese. In 1964, I was 13 years old and listening to American pop music on the radio across the Pacific Ocean. It helped me study English. The Beatles whirlwind was sweeping the world, and people were calling it the English Invasion. Among their many hits, this song by Dave Clark 5 was a big hit in Japan too. I remember it fondly. Huge Hit in the USA It Played 24/7 on all of the 50000 watt AM stations coast to coast and what a great hit !..I too ,was a big Beatles fan but loved this song every bit as much as any new Beatles hit on the charts. Brits...the best thing that could ever happen to us here in the US was the British music invasion ! We loved it every bit as much as did you.. Thank you !!!
Dana As a Brit the "British Invasion" was musically one of the biggest con tricks of all time because apart from the Beatles who wrote most of their own stuff everything else was cover versions of American artists. For example Needles and Pins When YOU WALK IN THE ROOM both orginally recorded by Jackie de Shannon.Go Now a huge Moody Blues hit was orginally done by Bessie Banks.I could go on the list is endless. It was all largely American music covered by British artists and sold back to the USA.
@@Topper954 Interesting comments topper..I will be 73 years of age and lived through that whole period.I witnessed the songs and artists first hand and can assure you that we did NOT consider song originality at that time,.We were happy to hear new groups playing their own spin on hits with great melodies that were played 24/7 on AM radio stations coast to coast .In fact, many american groups including the garage bands , also played " Covers" and were heard 24/7 on the radio stations. We wanted great sounds with great melodies that you could dance to... and that is what you brits and we americans ...delivered in spades...and we ate it up.. hook , lie and sinker. If there was a con job going on, we did not care in the least..we bought the records..I played , coronet , trumpet and baritone from age 10 and played some of these songs myself..although I played mostly jazz and swing songs from the 40's.. Peace and I wish you all the best....mate..db
Dana Brinkmeier Dana , Thank you for your interesting response to my comments.Surprised that you knew and didnt particularly care regarding the BRITISH COVER VERSIONS.Personally I was always into orginals and in the pre Beatle days when lots of Stateside hits got covered by British artists ie Cliff Richard Do You Wanna Dance orginal of course Bobby Freeman I'd always buy the latter. As a matter of interest is the USA aware of the phenomenon here in the U.K. called Northern Soul. This took off in the late 60s early 70s mainly confined to the Northern area of England. What it amounted to was a total rejection of pop mainstream records and the playing of quite fast and very danceable American soul by quite obsure artists.Check out Roy Hamilton Cracking Up Over You Barbara Mills Queen Of Fools both massive Northern Soul hits.On a recent US train journey which took me straight across the country from Chicargo to San Francisco (4 days) got talking about music to the coloured steward who had never heard of Northern Soul.Gave him a couple of titles and he was really into it.Gave it a try.
@@Topper954 Top, sorry to say that I have not really followed that genre so would not be able to speak intelligently about same.Have a great summer and...by the way...I Have restored antique farm tractors[ John Deere and International.. as a hobby for over 40 years and have met many UK fellow restorers who have been over here touring the many large tractor and steam shows we have. They are great people and we have had so much fun together. My great mother is from the UK and so I have some English blood flowing in my veins..LOL. The english countryside is so beautiful and we have toured some of your antique tractor shows that many of us had the good pleasure to attend..God Bless ...Dana
What absolutely fantastic memories. I was so lucky to be a teenager in the late 1950's to mid 60's. God, what I wouldn't give to do it all again and not change a thing.
I am 55 and my son (21) took that great song and sent it to his girl friend, when he was away, to show his real feelings for her ! It works over generations !
I loved this song. They do not make music like this. I am so glad i came from that era. I could see me and my friends walking with our transistor radios, singing to this. Older people looking at us, like we were nuts.
Never gets old!! This song always makes me stop whatever I'm doing and relish in the memories!! May just add it to our dance list for our upcoming 50th wedding anniversary party.
I was just thinking the very same thing when I saw your post. It's a crying shame that todays music has become an "arms race" to see who can be the most perverted and offensive. Makes me sad for the youth of today.
When I was 10 years old in the mid 60's my older sisters bought all of the popular albums and I listened to The Best of the Dave Clark 5 probably a thousand times. For me that is still absolutely one of the greatest albums from the 60's.
I'am obsessed with this song. Also, I love the announcers introduction. That, along with the opening instrumental note feels like a mighty jet lifting off.🙂🙂❤️
I fell in love with this song the moment I first heard it 50+ years ago. I’m now 66 and continue to play it . I turn the volume up as high as it goes because I feel everyone loves it as much as I do. LOL LOL. ❤
One of the most beautiful ballads of the sixties of the twentieth Century. I always liked it as it describes very well the purity and innocence of young love. "Give me one kiss and I'll be happy, just, just to be with you". Those were times when singers sang with feeling meaningful songs. And as I was young in those days I still identify myself with this song whenever I hear it.
I was one of those wahines giving them leis @ HNL (Honolulu Int'l Airport) in '65. I saw Dick Clark 5 perform on Saturday, July 17, 1965 at the H.I.C, (Honolulu International Center). They were GORGEOUS!
Damn that’s music, brings back memories when I was a teenager! The crap they have today doesn’t hold a candle to this stuff, gland I came up in the 60sand 70s
Just a perfect pop record, from start to finish. One of probably about 9 others that week in 1964, LOL. The classic hits came fast and furious in those days, an amazing era.
It is hard to believe anyone would “dislike” this classic. Who is still listening to this classic in 2021? I have been listening to this song since the early 60s when I was a teenager. So sad that many of the original Dave Clark 5 have since died. But, the good news is that their memory lives on through their music. 💕
My Grandpa’s second cousins, Dave Clark is the drummer of this band. He was telling me about it the other day.
Who else is enjoying this song 60 years later?

¡ Que grandes fuisteis .....desde Canet de Mar- España.......un abrazo muy fuerte Jaime Infiesta.
OMG...I love this! So many sweet memories growing up...😷😥💖
Huge Hit in the USA It Played 24/7 on all of the 50000 watt AM stations coast to coast and what a great hit !..I too ,was a big Beatles fan but loved this song every bit as much as any new Beatles hit on the charts.
I was so lucky to be a teenager in
the late 1950's to mid 60's. God, what I wouldn't give to do it all
again and not change a thing.
I hear ya Pete. I hear ya..
Mike Smith was undoubtedly one of the greatest 60's vocalists
So true handsome and talented too.
Absolutely!
I am 55 and my son (21) took that great song and sent it to his girl friend, when he was away, to show his real feelings for her ! It works over generations !
Thanks, Tottenham, for assembling this group.
Tottenham is a suburb of London?
Tottenham is a suburb of London?
Love this song so much. It is one of the best in the 60's.
The perfect chemistry! Thanks for this 1! What a great band!
9 years old when this same out. Still thinks it’s beautiful
정말 오랫동안 들었던 사랑스러운 노래 지금도 듣고 있네요 ^^*
Thank you Dave Clark five 🙏 love this song such wonderful memories ❤❤❤ God bless
I have loved this song from the first time I heard it and I was only about 5 or 6 years old. Good music never gets old.
Amag you're right it brings back memories
magpieeye. It never gets old.
your first time??? o nooooooooooo
I was 15 when I first heard this song, love this song and English since then.
I have a great collection of the Dave Clark five
I loved this song. They do not make music like this. I am so glad i came from that era. I could see me and my friends walking with our transistor radios, singing to this. Older people looking at us, like we were nuts.
a classic song love this tune when things are right with the world u sing it 2 ur girl
"Because" by the DC5 is the greatest ballad in Rock history ..... PERIOD!!!
Never gets old!! This song always makes me stop whatever I'm doing and relish in the memories!! May just add it to our dance list for our upcoming 50th wedding anniversary party.
Give me one kiss and I'll be happy just to be with You. Love that line.
I was just thinking the very same thing when I saw your post. It's a crying shame that todays music has become an "arms race" to see who can be the most perverted and offensive. Makes me sad for the youth of today.
Just to be with you
Totally agree
When I was 10 years old in the mid 60's my older sisters bought all of the popular albums and I listened to The Best of the Dave Clark 5 probably a thousand times. For me that is still absolutely one of the greatest albums from the 60's.
One of there best. I’m 37 and prefer music from the 60’s to the crap that’s out now. Remember my parents playing this in the house on the weekends
Eternally grateful to Mike for the great vocals and co writing Because!
LOL LOL. ❤
one of my very favorite songs of all time that 60s sound and feel
I love this Song with the Great Mike Smith God bless Mike RIP thanks for the Music xx
One Of the very best mid-1960s songs and in my opinion the best of all of their songs.
Mike Smith's warm voice awww, to die for!
Picture of mike smith of dave clark five
Damn that’s music, brings back memories when I was a teenager! The crap they have today doesn’t hold a candle to this stuff, gland I came up in the 60sand 70s
Just a perfect pop record, from start to finish. One of probably about 9 others that week in 1964, LOL. The classic hits came fast and furious in those days, an amazing era.
This is the greatest era of music ever ! Brings a smile to my face!
Very romantic melody, until now it's my favorite song, the blending, the harmony, i dont know what to say, just very good song.
Oh please take me back
A musical renaissance never
Seen before or ever again.
A magically beautiful song!
Mike Smith...the heartbeat of the DC5....just a fantastic group from that era...catch us if you can!
It is hard to believe anyone would “dislike” this classic. Who is still
listening to this classic in 2021? I have been listening to this song since the early 60s when I was a teenager. So sad that many of the original Dave Clark 5 have since died. But, the good news is that their memory lives on through their music. 💕
Hello Margaret, How are you doing?
Es un gran grupo una melodia muy bella 👏👏👍👍gracias por subirlo grandes recuerdos, gracias por no dejarlo en el olvido..tanks so much
