I think you’re being a tad harsh mate.
I’ve just flown SYD/HNL & my experience was 100% opposite to yours. I thought the crew were fantastic & way better than QF on this route. I too had a post take off drink but there was no problem asking for more wine with my meal. The meal wasn’t huge but you seem to be forgetting this is a *low cost* airline. For a full service business class you could have paid $4000+ on Hawaiian or Qantas but (& although I was surprised) I thought JQ was fantastic

Thanks for the report. Never flew SYD - HNL on JQ mainly because its a 'red-eye' flight and virtually impossible to get comfortable and sleep, even in 'business' class. But I've taken the return leg HNL - SYD in 'business' class several times because it's a daytime flight, and (surprisingly) it's actually ok, for what it is. It's simply a matter of lowering your expectations compared to QF and HA business class. Also, because I upgraded by cash bids (only a few hundred dollars), I've never had to pay full price, so I'm less likely to feel resentful or ripped-off by this type of LCC business class. It's all about doing your homework and setting your expectations accordingly.

Agree that JQ is never going to be Qantas in the hard product but by improving the basic human service it would turn a poor flight into a great flight. A smile and some common sense doesn't cost anything.

That’s strange all the things you were missing I got when I flew to Melbourne and Gold Coast! I guess it depends on the aircraft if it’s old or not but I personally love Jetstar

I'd paddle a canoe to HNL before I take JQ.

I was expecting the worst but was generally impressed with everything on this flight but I know everything can be dependent on the crew & this crew was fantastic. I didn’t see economy but could hear it & it sounded feral. Low cost airlines usually have passengers to match. The only downside was listening to Australian passengers talking down to the all female Thai crew

  • @colddripgaming

It's Jetstar, I just assume everything they offer is extremely poor value for money out of the gate so I'm never disappointed. I am considering paying the extremely high fee to upgrade though as I couldn't get an extra legroom seat and my other experiences with Jetstar international economy have been... unpleasant.

When I was on a flight from Melbourne to Bangkok on the JetStar 787 back in 2020 I swear they had a video for the safety demonstration. And yeah "Business class" is not worth the extra $1000

Looks like a decent product for a LCC, however I agree that it isn’t worth $1000

Hard to say. They were all Asian but the guy doing the announcements had an Australian or kiwi accent. Regardless they need more training to become more professional.

Jetstar ‘business class’ is really ‘premium economy’ but worth the extra service and comfort! Also don’t forget you get the same safety standards as you expect from QANTAS and other similar top tier airlines… people often forget these most essential considerations. Not all airlines are created equal!

Definitely not worth the extra $1,000 for this experience. I was shocked that they didn't allow you to have more than one drink. I've flown Jetstar quite a few times, and I never had a good experience.

Seriously. What do yo expect from Jet Star ? From low cost carriers generally. For 1000 AU $ more you get a bit more legroom and something better to eat. Well. Show me one single airline that has improved it's service in the last 10 years. They all want to reduce their costs no matter what.
