A trip report of the Jetstar 787 Business Class Honolulu to Sydney.
The fare matches the seat, with Jetstar 787 Business Class offering up just a basic recliner that would normally be seen in Premium Economy.
However, the meals are great, and there is a friendly service. A dedicated crew for the small cabin means service is attentive and efficient.
There is also complimentary seatback TV with films, snacks, and the bar opens from early into the flight. There is even a welcome glass of champagne and lounge access before the flight.
Alas, of most surprise, were the other passengers, who could be mildly eccentric.
    Check in 1:08
    Jetstar Lounge 1:58
    Business Class cabin 3:50
    Takeoff 7:20
    Breakfast 11:08
    Lunch 14:08
    Landing 15:27

Honestly I was frustrated hearing the report of entitled passengers. The crew should take responsibility for this by allowing them their entitlement. They should have told the first lady- tough, it’s a full flight and you can’t tell someone when to eat and drink. Secondly, the passenger behind - your seat allows reclining so tough to them otherwise they should have got in early to book a first row. The third person should have been told to stay in their original seat to work rather than disrupt other passengers. Honestly if they wanted to be so entitled they should be flying a more expensive flight (not a budget airline) or a private plane, or not at all!!

As far as I can tell, Jetstar is an Australian Airline and NOT an American one ans as such under Australian Law once you are outside the 200nm limit, so that person who told you to keep your mask on while eating, should have kept there thoughts to themselves. I agree that the nervous lady should have moved as you paid for the Business Class ticket, and you can have anything that was available.

Oh dear. You’ve sold me - to avoid Jetstar long haul. The product looked like a reasonable, if dated, PE product, but the other passengers…. I recall a flight from HKG-BOS in PE that was otherwise ok, apart from some “we normally fly business” passengers seeking special treatment. Looks like it’s Hawaiian or QF for the trip to Hawaii

Last time I flew internationally on Jetstar was just before they cancelled their Perth-Lombok route. It was good. We prepaid luggage and food. Our food order was for vegetarian and it was palatable. As much tea/coffee as we wanted included. Returning to Perth we had been shopping and I went on line to book extra luggage. At the airport our host went to check us in and was surprised to find that the booked extra luggage was readily accepted. Good economy flight both ways, I'd do it again.

It's clearly a low-cost airline, with dated seating and minimal IFE, but the crew did their best to provide some semblance of a business-class experience. The catering was decent, if also basic. For some reason this flight attracted some obnoxious passengers that should have been stowed with the baggage.

The best seats on international flights with Jetstar on their Dreamliners are in row 10 - the mini economy cabin - have a loo near you, you get off the plane first and have plenty of leg room - download movies or whatever you want to watch on your phone/tablet before you fly and it only costs an extra $25 - $40 (for row 10) depending on where you go. If you want the full experience and everything supplied, pay to fly with a full service airline. If you just want to get from A to B and are happy to pay for anything extra beyond a seat, Jetstar is for you. PS - I love Indo and no I'm not a bogan....just a tight $%#!!! :)

You should go into comedy. The review was hilarious! I'm planning to attend the Australian Open next January visiting Sydney first from Honolulu. The price of airfare is outrageous right now so I bought the Jetstar Business bundle Max fare which is refundable as a back up. If the price comes down between now and January, I will seek other flights. Thanks for a very entertaining review. Where were you staying that you had to leave your hotel at 4 AM? I know Honolulu reasonably well, from Waikiki to the airport it shouldn't be that bad. My flight is at 8:25 AM. Hope I don't have to leave that early. Yikes!

Wow!!! First off, I am glad your flight made it down to Sydney! Secondly, you paid for the Business Class on a long-haul flight. Period!! The person who is sitting next to you who also paid Business Class is just ok first by sitting next to you. I always hope that seats are empty beside me. But when that does not happen, there is a person! Ok! But what I do not understand is me leaving my seat that I paid fully the price needed because I am going to drink wine, or hard liquor or beer!!! You had some champagne while your flight was in boarding. Did she have some champagne during that time like you?? No, I would be sitting right there in my paid seat that I purchased with my credit card on this long-haul flight. She, your unfortunate neighbor is not the best person to be next!!! I would have had my wine right there. I do not see myself moving for the to another less class of a seat!!!!! To be moved around like that is "Sorry" Crazy Thing"!!!!

Yes Jetstar's passengers are interesting, particularly on the bogan Bali buses.
When it first launched this cabin was called "Star Class" not Business Class, which I think was more apt. The Max add-on can be a good value way to warn Qantas Status Credits
I've flown it a few times from Sydney to Asia - and at the right price (often cheaper than Qantas Economy) I find it good value and some reasonable food.
Scoot (Singapore based and owned by Singapore airlines) is probably the closest equivalent to Jetstar and has a similar product called SccotPlus
Can't believe the crew didn't kick the economy pax out.

I feel so sorry!! Even if you have status - how you were treated by your fellow passengers, sounded like pain…. You potentially should have not been so polite. To me, you were robbed of your experience and I envy your appreciation..

Imagine economy class for 10 hours with 30 inches of pitch and an even smaller screen to have trouble watching this limited IFE.
I think I would rather take a Hokulea.

Coming out of Hawaii would I be right in assuming that the 'difficult' passengers were American? US folk do have an overblown sense of entitlement, spend a lot of time complaining about everything and everybody and usually some oddball diet or behavioural quirk to top it off.

Fly economy and see how you go. I just wish they kept the a330s. Only 2 seats on window sides, much better. I booked a QANTAS ticket and was put on jetstar to HNL because QANTAS didn't fly that day.Sorry sir your not on our meal list. Can I buy a meal. No we only carry enough for pre paid. Complained to QANTAS,as per usual,no reply. What really sux is paying for a QANTAS ticket and having the bogan next to you brag about how cheap his ticket was and receive exactly the same service as me....nothing.I'll stick with Hawaiian thanks.
