    These cars are extremely underrated, which is part good because it allows working class people to afford a luxury car at a reasonable price.
    I’m sure in ten more years, when the original LS400 will be still reliably running and accummulating thousands of miles, the brand will take the place it really deserves.

    People who buy Lexus almost will never buy a BMW or Mercedes. Lexus buyers have a different set of expectations and priority, so BMW and Mercedes will never be on their radar.

    • @Realistick

      Well, yes and no, the dealership I work at sells Audi's and many, including the lexus in this video, preowned lexus models that come in are trade ins for new Audis. People that bought lexus and switched to Audi. So I would say that when it comes to new vehicles, people certainly cross shop the big luxury brands. Lexus definitely has their own loyal following who would never consider another luxury car as Lexus has consistently topped the charts in reliability so I get that those people wouldn't buy a Mercedes, BMW, etc... Which leads me to this possible thesis, people looking for a used lexus are much less likely to be considering a USED BMW, Audi, Mercedes than when new because of the reputation. A used Lexus is a smart buy, a used Mercedes is a risky buy. A new Mercedes at least has a warranty and some years until repairs come along. The only immediate threat is depreciation, which shouldn't be overlooked either! Thanks for the feedback.

      @@Realistick true except Lexus owners who have switched to Audi or Mercedes found the selvess in great regret. I owned a BMW X5 and it has electrical problems within 3 werks. Constantly had problems . It was in and out of my local BMW dealer until I got rid of it. Sold it to Carmax for a loss by $1900. Shitty German brand. Now i have a Lexus LX suv and a LS460 L fully loaded. Never looked back at the German brand ever since. Now BMW, Audi, and Mercedes are all in derp shit hole for their collaboration in producing faulty Diesel engine that sprw out more pollution than ever. The Fed is going after them. CA is in suing all these German brands. Corruption to the deepest core. Even the German themselves are smart enough to hate Diesel. DW news just broadcasted a story about the collapse od diesel cars in Germany.

One thing to note, these take Premium Gas and it can get pretty expensive to fill up the tank, but in return you get a wonderful and powerful ride. I cannot believe this car was $80K to $90K new and I got mine used for $17K.

      Don’t agree, it’s aggressive sharp and very Japanese obviously isn’t definitely not horrible at all. And the infotainment isn’t bad as people think you just have to get used to it, and just because it takes getting used to doesn’t mean it’s bad. Obviously there is more techy than the infotainment but in reality it does what it’s supposed to do, and it’s nice not Amazing but nice.

    A perfect '04-'06 LS430 might get me out of my '98 LS400, which has been my flawless daily driver for 21 years. And, yes, I have Brembo brakes, too. I had 2 new MBs before the LS (provided by my company) and, though the Germans are pleasant to drive, the LS is so vastly superior in every other way that I will never return to relative junk. I don't think I'd consider a 460 because of reliability that might not match my old car.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The old LS is known for making it to a million miles, and while the 460 has a lot to live up to, I still don't think it would disappoint! But if you don't mind having an older vehicle then sticking with what works is never a bad plan either. But, man, the newer LS is an awesome car too.

I often compare design like this to my impression of a cheap French bordello. It's odd since the Japanese esthetic sense is so sophisticated in other areas and even in some cars built for domestic consumption like the Toyota Century. They clearly have come to think that we, in the US, are very crude. Perhaps they are right but I won't buy one.

And yes, when you’re tall Lexus can be challenging.... (So young, you really like performance) Be careful! Best education, watch 5 hours of dash cam crashes and NHTSA. Sobering. Worth noting, Lexus computers reduce throttle input at shift points to facilitate a Silkiness of transmission. Experienced In Benz, head snapping shift points though titillating, are not appreciated by most passengers.

      I would highly recommend it. I also wouldn't really recommend any other large luxury car used (unless you have a higher budget to encompass possible repairs and don't mind the bad resale, in which case, the S Class is a great car too). I'd personally recommend choosing a rear drive model if you don't live in an area that gets regular snow in the winter. You would save some money and gain horsepower surprisingly, good luck!

      I went with the LS 460 because it's more up to date (mine is a '16 model year). However, there are a lot of people who prefer the LS 430 because of its smoother ride and better refinements.

      Absolutely Wrong Lukas. The gold does not show dirt, reflects hot sun well, and doesn’t show micro scratches. Black is terrible - dust
      /dirt shows badly, tiny microscratches will appear after car washes or cleaning, and the car will get hot in sun. White is ok, but still show dirt/road grime and there is very bad glare off the hood. Of your choices gray is the least problematic, but is is common and rather boring.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I actually got the chance to drive a 2004 LS430 and as far as comfort goes, the LS430 is just as good as the LS460. Both are very reliable, the LS460 has a more controlled ride, is more quiet, has better acceleration and more modern amenities like bluetooth audio (Ls430 will only do bluetooth calling). I would personally pony up the extra cash for a LS460 but the LS430 is a phenomenal car too, and you can get them for under 10 grand all day! Hope this helps some.
