Thank you!! Happy New Year 2024. I searched and searched on TH-cam! Than I found you explaining my used car issue. The flasher not working.

Nicely shown! Old school flashers were easy to understand, and they were surprisingly robust considering the moving parts. Then for years I scratched my head trying to understand how the new versions were able to do special things like flashing fast when a bulb was burnt out. For a while I searched around, optimistically thinking I'd understand them better if I found a circuit drawing. Wrong, it was a little over my head. In the end, no matter, they swap out and can rarely be fixed anyway.

Thank you! I've been trying to figure out why my brake lights, hazards, and turn signals would not work after replacing my headlights. After watching your video, I realized that I now had LED bulbs. Found that LED compatible relay and swapped it out. All fixed! Thanks again!

Yes! An upgrade to an LED relay that you have to use with LED bulbs! Great video! Thanks :) Really helped me learn a few things

I have a Ford 2011 F150, SAME PROBLEM, no turn signal, no EM flasher and no brake light, shotgun side, back. I think that relay Kenny mentions will fix it. Informative, straight forward presentation. Whey does Ford make relays SO DIFFICULT to access?

Wife’s ‘05 explorer was the same way. Lost turn signals etc had a heck of a time to get to it. Little tighter than the expy’s tho

Me qnd my buddy are running into this issue still, we replaced the fuses, the relay, and the switch, still nothing. The hazards killed all of it but it's still not engaging

About to attempt a similar job on a friend's car. All the lights work but no clicking sound. She needs a clicking sound. The Ford Ka has a special electronic relay that artificially makes the "clicking" sound. Gotta love Ford. Ps, the relay is buried in the steering column, what's wrong with the fuse box???

  • @johndeerekid167

Go look at a Volvo flasher 'relay'. Integrated into the back of the hazard button. It's freaking huge for a simple flasher circuit. Takes 60 seconds to change though.

My 2003 Expedition turn signal will work for a couple of seconds and then stop, including the sound inside the vehicle. Seems to work a few seconds longer for the right signal for some reason. Couldn't find any videos or cure for the exact symptoms, could it be this electronic flasher? Any other ideas to confirm or test?

I have an issue with driver side tun signal. I have 4 ways, I have brake lights and the rear turn signal is on steady while the front doesn't light. I have changed all the bulbs still the same, I replaced the multifunction switch still the same. I put a test light to the passenger side front (because it's working) and i get a bright light in test light. Same at rear same side. However I get a weak test light on front of driverside and a bright test light on rear driver side.
I am stumped where to go from here to find the fault. It's a 1992 Ford Explorer

06 Jeep Cherokee. No right front flasher. Change bulb. Parking light works. Hazards work. No flasher relay or fuse. I read it’s controlled through the ecm??

It is a relay in a relay hence small black box it's just small like Dodge tipm relays they probably have to pass quality control for size or something could be wrong tho I'm not a relay engineer

I'm having similar issue on 2003 Lincoln Navigator. Rear brake lights don't light up when pressing brakes, rear hazards not lighting up. Any idea if your solution would apply to my SUV?

I second the question - did it fix the brake lights, too?

  • @charlesswart
    @charlesswart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Old school relays had a metal bridge - when current was applied it would heat up and bend and break contact - then cook and bend back and make contact and repeat - turning the light on and off. This looks like some kind of circuit board with a timer.

Leave it to the manufactures to make a simple easy fix complicated. ie. Expensive.

Kinda Stupid?? You're being kind. I could get kicked off of TH-cam for what I want to really say. Engineers strike again ! I really wish I was in a position to do automobile engineers' annual performance evaluations based on the ease of repairs for the mechanic and the cost to the customer.

I have a 2013 f150 that the right headlight bucket filled up with water and destroyed the turn/marker plug. Replaced the plug and bulb. Still rapid blinks on that side but works great on the left side. Would this relay cause it to have a right side issue only?

My 2006 dodge caravan had the same symptoms. I had to make a new ground wire for the socket that the bulb plugs into. The ground wire was black with a brown stripe. I don't know what color Ford has on its ground wire.
