    One minor tip about horses, white socks result in light colored hooves. Not that anyone aside from my equestrian niece would notice.

    Don't have any of those fancy speed (slapchop) paints as still have lots of the old style however, you do quite an amazing job so I can see these speed paints are quite the biz. Lovely minis and great painting. You have an amazing eye for detail for sure. Such a beautiful end result. Thanks you for sharing.

    Again a really useful and high quality tutorial. From my point of view thats to the point to the wargamer's needs. Chapeau!

    Those look fabulous, Stu 👍. Really loving all of the P&S stuff. I really liked your armour treatment, something I’m always experimenting with and I’m going to get some of the Thrash Metal and the GW shade to try out. Looks great for the ‘bronzed’ effect you see on some armour. Also love the basing, some more things to try out there as well 😀.

      Thank you Andy. Thrash Metal is a really unusual colour, a great addition to your metallic collection.

    Looks amazing Stu - as always. Still not opened all my Push of Pikes boxes - just can’t get to them as too much to finish. Still this inspires me to think when I do it will be ace. Cheers. Stevie 👍

    The cuirassiers are an interesting diference betwen the ECW and the 30YW since on one where extremely uncommon and in the other where the contrary wich i found funny
    Also commant for the algorithm gods

    Just a quick question on a comment made around the 6 min mark. You said that red was more the colour of the Royalists than the Parliamentarians? It was Cromwell that came up with the New Model army which sported "Red" coats. Primarily because the red was the cheapest dye for the uniform. This seems somewhat contrary to your commentary.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep probably a little confusing. From memory I think I was thinking more about officer sashes etc, obviously the new model army was a whole different thing.

    Great looking models again, and another great presentation too.
    I've been paying particular attention to you basing lately. Im usually happy and done with a layer of GW technical paints and a few tufts etc.
    I see you are getting really great results with the Vallejo range - and you involve a few extra steps. I've never been a fan of Vellajo paints, but are the 'technical' paints worth a try?
    Do they really differ much from the GW range?

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d definitely recommend Vallejo diorama stuff, the Earth Texture is similar to Stirland mud in the way it works, but the tubs are 200ml for £12-14. AK interactive do similar stuff in 200ml as well, I think usually under £10.

    Stuart, did I miss your three steps for red somewhere? I see you using Wild Rider red (orange. It's orange, dammit! ;) ) as a highlight on the sashes and plumes. I have a lot of New Model Army to do in red contrast paints.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I messed the order up, so had to add the highlights to take it to orange at the end after basing. But the red is contrast blood angels red, then evil sunz scarlet.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sure they will do something Medieval at some point, I’d guess HYW, but I don’t think that will be next, my money is on Ancients next up with Romans.

    • @insomniacbritgaming1632
      @insomniacbritgaming1632 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MiniatureRealms yeah Ancients would be good, even if they did Hail Ceasar (which rules would work for Medieval) so that would be awesome, especially if we can use the Romans in their shield formation

      Hopefully they might release more info at the open day this weekend, I think you might get just what you’ve described soon, seems to be the most common rumour. I’ll be there with my camera, so will report back.

    Another excellent tutorial Stuart. I didn’t see anything about varnishing before basing? Do you varnish or not? Can I also ask which size brushes you advise for this scale?

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you 😊.
      I don’t always varnish plastic minis, especially when I can be confident that I will mostly handle them by the base, but if I’m I do it’s a thin coat via the airbrush. I don’t always show this in videos unless it’s an important part of the process, like gloss varnish before oils or decals, or matte varnish to get rid of shine etc.
      I use 2, 1 and 0 mostly, but the point is the most important thing, so when a brush is new I can use a 2 most things. I’d always say use the biggest brush you can, as a larger brush will hold more paint, meaning it’s less likely to dry on the tip while painting.

    One thing I have noticed is that you have bounced around in flesh colors., basically using all three options depending on which of the ECW videos you were working on. Is there a reason for this? Any real preference for ye olde pasty white Brits out there? :D
    Right now, with the All-In sets from waves1 and 2, I have enough to do both a Parliamentarian force and a Royalist force. Now if only they had Scots Covenanters.... Can't properly do ECW without the Scots.
    And I will most likely keep all of my cuirassier for an eventual 30YW army.
    Thanks, as always, for what you do, Stuart.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to use different flesh tones to show what can work, and there’s not a huge amount of difference in any of them at this scale. Fyreslayer is one of the easiest to use, but I’m really enjoying Xpress Colour Dwaf skin.
      I’d be shocked if we don’t see Covenanters as a future wave.

    • @JackFright
      @JackFright ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MiniatureRealms thanks. Yeah, I saw someone else work with that Express dwarf skin on an ogre, I think. So much character to the face by basing with that and glazing purple and red and brown where appropriate. Great technique.
      And yeah, I email and bug Paul Sawyer enough that he’ll get my Covenanters out just to shut me up at some point ;)

      @@MiniatureRealms Yup. That's the one. He had a pre-release review so he did not have all the colors yet but that was just impressive how easy it was to get an effect that used to take a lot of effort.. I almost want to get back and get (re)started on my 28mm Covenanters but first things first, all this epic stuff.
