Excellent tutorial. With such small miniatures it is quite tricky to add details. Certainly an implied detail or less is more approach probably pays off
I love the idea of these small scale games since the amount of space they would take up should be less and maybe to is easier to transport your armies around for games but the advantages also make for the disadvantages in terms of different painting challenges. I think your tutorial will go a fair way in alleviating that issue
Nice work mate! I'm starting on the Scots next year when I get my starter set, so this guide will help alot.
Always impressed by the impact of this simple but effective approach. A joy to watch as always. I'm sure we will all be disappointed as a community if Vallejo ever corrects the spelling of Dwaf Skin.
Cracking Scots 👍. Love the approach to the hodden grey and tartans. Apparently hodden grey was made by mixing black and white undyed fleeces so the colour would have been pretty variable I think. The grey-brown you made looks spot on. 😀
Thanks for another excellent tutorial Stuart, alas I missed out on getting a copy and the sprue, but as I'm planning on a Scots Covenanter army in 6mm I'll be coming back to steal some ideas on painting them.
I've been using a lot of contrast on my Baccus 6mm Saxons, Viking and Norman armies for ravensfeast big battles .
Hopefully I'll be taking it on to my 6mm ECW royalists and Covenanters and 6mm ACW.
As for Warlord games epic ACW still not finished it all lol but getting there I've painted up my kalistra miniatures I've used as skirmishers just need to get the Union artillery painted then I'll have playable size forces to game, but will still have a lot of regiments awaiting some paint .
Thank you Simon.
I’ve not painted any 6mm in years. One day someone will come along with some that the sculpts are so good that I can’t resist, then I’ve no doubt I’ll give it a go.
I’ve still got loads of Epic ACW to do as well, think I’ll be chipping away at the project for years.
@@MiniatureRealms
The starter set was immense lol I also purchased a further 12 sprues bought the union and Confederate zouaves, cavalry and skirmisher boxes in plastic, and recently bought the metal zouaves box at a nice £22.50 second hand and still in shrink wrap lol
You really should get the Montrose starter and do videos for all the units there. The units are amazing! Just painted up my first strip of Scots so thanks for the help!
I’d love to, and have been very tempted, but if I’m honest I’ve bought every epic set Warlord have released up until that point and I have a huge pile of plastic unpainted. Maybe one day though.
@@MiniatureRealms Your video was a HUGE help getting me started into the Army, thank you!
@LordNikku Thank you so much for saying so, I’m really glad to hear it’s helped 😊
@@MiniatureRealms the only unique thing that’s in the box is really just the highlanders. Every thing else is the Covenanter sprue, standard infantry sprues and the heroes. You probably have enough to make the army eventually!
@LordNikku I will very likely pick up some Highlanders eventually, they look fun to paint.
I'm surprised to hear that WG did not send you any review copies of ALL of their Epic stuff. For all the painting tutorials you have done on their Epic stuff i'd have expected a more active role on their part. Anyways your stuff is top notch as usual! Really vibrant colors
Oh I never would expect them to send stuff, they’ve been very kind with bits before. But thank you 🙂
@@MiniatureRealms not expect obviously but they surely made a lot of money off of your coverage (at least i bought quite some stuff bcs of your vids) so if i was wg with every new release i‘d ask if you‘d wanted to cover it and send minis your way. 🤷♂️
Looks fantastic Stu. I’m getting the Montrose royalist box set from my daughter for Xmas so can’t wait but need to finish my current Scottish wars of independence in 15mm and also start my Holy Crusades in 15mm - that’s next year all sorted 😂. Hope you’ve managed to watch my vids on the Scottish wars and would love to hear any comments. All the best Stevie
Cheers Stevie. I’ll make sure I go and catch up on your videos soon.
great stuff looking to buy some new brushes what would you recommend for epic scale
I use use Rosemary & Co series 33 (short handle). The point is more import than size, but I tend to use 2, 1 and 0.
Another excellent tutorial mate, with the amount of people I've seen buying these this video will be invaluable 👍
Cheers Martin 🙂
