I think a way they could handle the Overwatch 1 credits in Overwatch 2 could be like Apex’s crafting materials. You could get them from winning games, leveling up, or through the battle pass and use them to buy skins from Overwatch 1 or buy the base skins for the new hero’s in Overwatch 2.
I find it pretty funny that free to play games drain more money from people than paid games ( and that some skins in free to play games are more expensive then witcher 3 with all dlc in my country )

Yes and no. You should open your loot boxes before spending credits. Blizzard said that when you get a loot box the item is already determined and usually a thing you don't own. But if you buy the item you want then open the loot box you can get the legendary you just purchased it is rare but it has happened. On this channel on a loot box opening he bought artic ops and forgot he had legendary loot box and pulled the artic ops.

Unfortunately not how it works generally. I've put 200+ hours into apex, I only bought like, one of the battle passes? And I got to about level 80 on it. 90% of my decent cosmetics are from that battle pass, whether that be from the pass itself or from the apex packs I got from it. I think over that time I bought about maybe 2 legendary skins with the "free" currency? And even then most of that free currency came from the battle pass. It would not surprise me if OW2 was similar.
It's been confirmed that overwatch 1 currency will transfer over to overwatch 2, but it's probably gonna be limited in what you can buy.... it'll probably still be used for the skins we have now
I know that it’s super selfish but I really hope that in OW2 you can’t buy all the skins from OW1. I always feel like it’s a novelty to have certain things from a game you had to pay for when the game goes free to play (like rocket league).

Come to think of it. Will players still get something out of a lvl up like they do currently? And i mean the normal lvls not the battlepass. Cause to me what i think would be the best way to make both sides happy would be to make level ups give 1000 G every time, for you to spend on skins, emotes and etc. , but the battlepass would naturally have some exclusivity. It is still really shitty as a system as it forces ppl to pay for something they want and doesn't let you be able to get those things by working harder than whales, but if you can at least get some stuff like the stuff we can already get and maybe some new stuff, hopefully blizzard will see their wrongdoings and go back to their old lootbox mechanic.
You know how every mobile game sucks because there is always this extremely overpriced P2W (or just much better) currency? They are trying to do that to PC games. They already started. Most mobile games are terrible due to monetization and soon all games will be for that reason. The days of enjoying things like skins are over. OW1 was a one time purchase with optional in game purchases. You could get all the content for free by playing but they still made their money because the game costs money to play. But I guess the billion dollars or more they made off the game was not enough for them. They need more. Prime example of capitalist greed and corporations exploiting consumers just because they can. TL;DR F2P is not a good thing and is a move towards a worse gaming experience.
this is unfortunately all but confirmed not to be the case as there was a survey where they asked if people were willing to spend like 25 dollars on a legendary skin and even up to 45 for mythics which probably means that that everything wont be free. theyve also made a skin which you had to buy twitch subs from big OW streamers to get it :/

nope not yet and I don't think event weekly challenge skins will ever return but during the remix event you were able to get a few old weekly challenge skins

I guess since the event didn't repeat or something, some recent event skins like the halloween 2021 and such are still 3000. But then again, the recent archive skins are now 1000, but that could also be they were smart and considerate to make what's arguably the most popular event skins cheaper.

The problem with OW skin pricing is that in games with a battlepass and a real money shop like Fortnite or Fallguys u just got a single character u can play and get skins for. In OW u have over 30 characters rn and even more at the time OW2 comes out. So u need to buy skins for each of these. Theoretically, they need to make the skins way cheaper. I would go with $2 for a legendary and mby $5 for a new one. (Like it is rn with 1000 coins for old and 3000 fr event legendaries) 15 for a mythic or 10 for the battle pass. The OWL skins can stay at $10 as they are rn, inbetween normal legandarys and mythics.
That is, if they care that you can collect everything without pumping in big bucks. I will assume the worst and say the system will be predatory as fuck. So BYW advise is solid in my opinion
I have 490,000 credits right now, and that's after getting everything I wanted. I'll hold on to the rest since it's already confirmed that OW1 credits will have some use in OW2. Now if they were gonna be completely irrelevant, then yeah. I would just buy everything possible.
another important point to bring up i think is we have no idea how youre going to be able to get ow2 credits, sure it could be the same as now where you play a role with a short queue time or it could be that you get them through the battle pass or it could be you have to buy them or something else entirely.
tbh they should have had an item sale for all the skins, emotes, voice lines, highlight reels and victory poses, since lootboxs will be gone and it will be harder to get coins, wish they did that so it would be way better, i only have 900 credits! i can only get 1 skin!

Bruh skins don't really matter to me anymore, in fact I've kinda become one of those loot box hoarders like Nathan cuz competitive games are what really motivates us to grind even though I've only been playing this game for 2 yrs and I'm only low diamond, and all a skin will grant you is the slight satisfaction of flexing on the other players in the potg cam and the weapon you're holding in game. So unless they add cool new effects or change the bullet designs or whatever in ow 2, I'm not tiring my mental strength on getting duplicates

If battle passes were accessible and upgradeable/purchaseable at any time, instead of being fueled by fomo, I’m pretty sure they’d make more money then they do now. Item shops and challenge rewards should definitely be limited time, but battle passes are usually the progression system of the game, so if the rewards for the current pass don’t appeal to you, there’s little motivation to play other than just to get better
I don't think there going to do anything that extreme legendary skins go for 1000 to 3000 depending on who and what skin it is and there is 0 way to buy the credits anyway and your not even guaranteed too get them in lootboxes and you get 25 per match depending on what class that's already 40 matches just for 1 skin even more if your going for the 3000 skins and even then might as well save for the first battle pass where you'll probably make money back I'd say wait till the last day then go ham if you want to depending on how many credits you have I've only got about 2000 so I might save I've got skins I want for characters I play so
That literally makes no sense from a business perspective, fall guys didn’t even do that because companies know that players who built up a lot of the old currency will never have to spend a dollar. What makes the most sense is old items/skins will become “legacy” items/skins. The old currency will most likely only be able to be spent on legacy items
There was some interview I think I remember listening to where they said the credits will be used to get OW2 credits or something like that. Not at a 1:1 rate but something along those lines. Might not even be OW2 credits but something OW2 related. Could be wrong but it's something I do remember they talked about

What I want to know is what the hell will we get who have paid 60$ for the first Overwatch game. I don't want want to have spend 60$ on a game, then a couple of years later get something completely different than what I originally paid for. One reason as to why I chose Overwatch specifically was because of the cosmetics system. You can easily buy new cosmetics just by playing the game. I am not going to have spent 60$ on something that will just be taking away from me without actually giving me something that would make that money spent worth it. Overwatch 2 isn't what I paid for. Especially not since the game will be free. I want something for those 60$. They need to clarify their actual plans.
This isn't even a conspiracy theory. They already said OW1 credits can't be used to by OW2 stuff. So the only reason credits are transferring over is to buy the remainder of OW1 stuff. But what all will be available in OW2 from 1 we don't know. Will all the event items be locked off like normal? That is why you should open boxes now to either get what you want or to get credits to buy what you don't have after opening all your boxes.
The first thing I did when OW2 was announced was take pictures of my aim settings just in because we dont know if our hero aim settings will carry over into Overwatch 2 .

Having the same settings wont work for me, i need a high sens for tracer 180 blinks and easy access to her ult vs playing widowmaker i need a more accurate sens to hit precision shots, and her ult doesint take button priorty compared to things like crouch or grapple
Wasn't it confirmed that old Ow currency would transfer over but would only be used for OW1 content (skins, sprays, emotes, etc that were made and released before 10/4/2022) in the reddit Q&A a few months back?
I could imagine that we´ll be able to get this new virtual currency to buy skins, the premium pass et. for example through leveling up the heroes or through winning matches but it would of course take more time then simply spending money for it. Kinda like how you can collect OWL tokens or spend money to get them which depends on if there is a skin you want to buy right now or wait for something you like.

If we can't earn credits to get skins then events will be dead the only thing that kept ppl coming back was to earn the skins it's fine if they wanna make skins purchasable only but I just won't come back for events simple as that I'll play whenever I see a hero I like get released but if I can't earn skins for that hero then they'll get boring and I'll move on

Yea I noticed that the skins that came out awhile ago like events ago still were 3,000 when usually they would go to 1,000 but every event I wanted to get the skin but it was 3,000 and didn’t change to 1000 cause it wasn’t new anymore

But BROYOUWACK, what about custom games? Can you turn off the passive healing? Even when you are not a support, you get passively healed. We know overwatch 2 is gonna be more fun than overwatch 1, but custom games are fun as well. +, I hope overwatch 2 make you get 10 percent xp when you play custom games. It's like the 3 game modes but you only get 10 percent instead of 100 percent, ngl about it.

NOBODY WILL BE USING THEIR OVERWATCH 1 SKINS WHEN THE MYTHIC SKINS ROLL OUT. They might also release other type of skins tiers for overwatch league or certain events. Maybe a collaboration with other games.

Im hoping old weekly challenge skins come back to the item shop in Overwatch 2. I came to Overwatch 1 quite late, and missed out on almost every weekly challenge skin. Is there any word that they are returning for ow2?
nope not yet and I don't think event weekly challenge skins will ever return but during the remix event you were able to get a few old weekly challenge skins

I guess since the event didn't repeat or something, some recent event skins like the halloween 2021 and such are still 3000. But then again, the recent archive skins are now 1000, but that could also be they were smart and considerate to make what's arguably the most popular event skins cheaper.

The problem with OW skin pricing is that in games with a battlepass and a real money shop like Fortnite or Fallguys u just got a single character u can play and get skins for. In OW u have over 30 characters rn and even more at the time OW2 comes out. So u need to buy skins for each of these. Theoretically, they need to make the skins way cheaper. I would go with $2 for a legendary and mby $5 for a new one. (Like it is rn with 1000 coins for old and 3000 fr event legendaries) 15 for a mythic or 10 for the battle pass. The OWL skins can stay at $10 as they are rn, inbetween normal legandarys and mythics.
That is, if they care that you can collect everything without pumping in big bucks. I will assume the worst and say the system will be predatory as fuck. So BYW advise is solid in my opinion
I have 490,000 credits right now, and that's after getting everything I wanted. I'll hold on to the rest since it's already confirmed that OW1 credits will have some use in OW2.
Now if they were gonna be completely irrelevant, then yeah. I would just buy everything possible.
another important point to bring up i think is we have no idea how youre going to be able to get ow2 credits, sure it could be the same as now where you play a role with a short queue time or it could be that you get them through the battle pass or it could be you have to buy them or something else entirely.

Bruh skins don't really matter to me anymore, in fact I've kinda become one of those loot box hoarders like Nathan cuz competitive games are what really motivates us to grind even though I've only been playing this game for 2 yrs and I'm only low diamond, and all a skin will grant you is the slight satisfaction of flexing on the other players in the potg cam and the weapon you're holding in game.
So unless they add cool new effects or change the bullet designs or whatever in ow 2, I'm not tiring my mental strength on getting duplicates

My hatred for the concept of a battle pass is indescribable.
If battle passes were accessible and upgradeable/purchaseable at any time, instead of being fueled by fomo, I’m pretty sure they’d make more money then they do now. Item shops and challenge rewards should definitely be limited time, but battle passes are usually the progression system of the game, so if the rewards for the current pass don’t appeal to you, there’s little motivation to play other than just to get better
I don't think there going to do anything that extreme legendary skins go for 1000 to 3000 depending on who and what skin it is and there is 0 way to buy the credits anyway and your not even guaranteed too get them in lootboxes and you get 25 per match depending on what class that's already 40 matches just for 1 skin even more if your going for the 3000 skins and even then might as well save for the first battle pass where you'll probably make money back I'd say wait till the last day then go ham if you want to depending on how many credits you have I've only got about 2000 so I might save I've got skins I want for characters I play so

That literally makes no sense from a business perspective, fall guys didn’t even do that because companies know that players who built up a lot of the old currency will never have to spend a dollar. What makes the most sense is old items/skins will become “legacy” items/skins. The old currency will most likely only be able to be spent on legacy items

There was some interview I think I remember listening to where they said the credits will be used to get OW2 credits or something like that. Not at a 1:1 rate but something along those lines. Might not even be OW2 credits but something OW2 related. Could be wrong but it's something I do remember they talked about

What I want to know is what the hell will we get who have paid 60$ for the first Overwatch game. I don't want want to have spend 60$ on a game, then a couple of years later get something completely different than what I originally paid for. One reason as to why I chose Overwatch specifically was because of the cosmetics system. You can easily buy new cosmetics just by playing the game. I am not going to have spent 60$ on something that will just be taking away from me without actually giving me something that would make that money spent worth it. Overwatch 2 isn't what I paid for. Especially not since the game will be free. I want something for those 60$. They need to clarify their actual plans.

This isn't even a conspiracy theory. They already said OW1 credits can't be used to by OW2 stuff. So the only reason credits are transferring over is to buy the remainder of OW1 stuff. But what all will be available in OW2 from 1 we don't know. Will all the event items be locked off like normal? That is why you should open boxes now to either get what you want or to get credits to buy what you don't have after opening all your boxes.
Do we know if the current hero/ role specific achievements and the sprays for them will still be available to obtain once we switch to OW2?
I believe so. If I recall they've already reworded and reworked many of the achievements for the Heroes who had received substantial reworks.

The first thing I did when OW2 was announced was take pictures of my aim settings just in because we dont know if our hero aim settings will carry over into Overwatch 2 .

Having the same settings wont work for me, i need a high sens for tracer 180 blinks and easy access to her ult vs playing widowmaker i need a more accurate sens to hit precision shots, and her ult doesint take button priorty compared to things like crouch or grapple
Wasn't it confirmed that old Ow currency would transfer over but would only be used for OW1 content (skins, sprays, emotes, etc that were made and released before 10/4/2022) in the reddit Q&A a few months back?
I could imagine that we´ll be able to get this new virtual currency to buy skins, the premium pass et. for example through leveling up the heroes or through winning matches but it would of course take more time then simply spending money for it. Kinda like how you can collect OWL tokens or spend money to get them which depends on if there is a skin you want to buy right now or wait for something you like.

If we can't earn credits to get skins then events will be dead the only thing that kept ppl coming back was to earn the skins it's fine if they wanna make skins purchasable only but I just won't come back for events simple as that I'll play whenever I see a hero I like get released but if I can't earn skins for that hero then they'll get boring and I'll move on

It's like the 3 game modes but you only get 10 percent instead of 100 percent, ngl about it.

i dont know about most people but id rather buy a game for 30 dollars and have free cosmetics rather than the other way around. also they could have a thing where you can refund if u have played less than 2 hours just like on steam. all though make ow2 free is a good idea otherwise the game would die
NOBODY WILL BE USING THEIR OVERWATCH 1 SKINS WHEN THE MYTHIC SKINS ROLL OUT. They might also release other type of skins tiers for overwatch league or certain events. Maybe a collaboration with other games.
If they are super expensive, I will not be buying them, so legendary would be my alternative. Also if skins will be retired, you have the ultimate flex
