This is beyond insane for me. See and listen to At the gates, my greatest melodic death metal band favorite, covered in such a masterful way and exquisite performance deserves an ovation
Metal Hammer brought me here, Slaughter of the Soul got me to stay. That opening riff is such a thing of beauty, even played on piano it loses zero punch. Six seconds of guitar work that doubtless inspired dozens if not hundreds of bands to give it a shot. Definitely caught me letting out a hearty GO. Thank you for this
Yet another where the control over speed is so wonderful, the ability to use different dynamics on all the technical and fast parts as well is what makes these covers. Normally you don't get to hear this side of the metal song compositions with the limited dynamic ranges of distorted guitar and band context. Which is something that's so nice about "classical piano pieces". It just brings the composition alive and piano is such a good instrument in showing all the base and chord interaction with the melody. A big fan.
I've been directed onto your feed, Catherine, via an article in Metal Hammer. Your interpretations are absolutely remarkable, not least of all your version of Cannibal Corpse's "Scourge Of Iron". I'd gladly pay good money for an album of your covers.
@@GODHATESADOPTION hello! I try to incorporate as much of the instrumentation as possible - it’s a fun technical challenge - not all metal songs work well for piano
I'm a very Big fan of At the Gates and Slaughter of the Soul is in my top 10 favourite albums! 🤟 I really enjoyed your interpretation with lots of variations in dynamics and the guitar solo played on piano that's really cool to hear! 🤟🤟 ROCK ON!!! 🤟🤟
1:02 when you played that melody from the high octave to low octave right after, and transitioned it with arpeggios with your left hand I almost lost my mind
Loved the version!!! Excelente. Our trio (Ancestral Echoes) covers this song and we love it so much. You did such a great job. Congrats from Argentina.
Wow. You really killed it. Thank you for taking the time to cover this song. I look forward to you bringing more awesome piano covers like this to the world. 🤘
just because it is played on a piano it doesn’t make it classical music . this is a shallow way to think about classical music .people need to educate themselves before talking and acting clever .for real
@LauraMatsuda2020this 💯 and a lot of metal was heavily Bach inspired as well, especially the dissonance attributes. But melodeath like At the Gates, In Flames, etc. are about as close to a classical music successor there is. They were definitely the rock stars and metal heads of their day and I still wonder how they'd react to sounds like distortion pedals
BRAVO!! 🌹🌹🌹So awesome to hear music transposed from a brutal tonal setting into the lighter setting of a solo piano performance - really highlights the incredible depth of the music (which is why I love metal)
Amazing skills ! This song is kinda fun to play on guitar, piano version seems to be a bit more difficult. I wonder if it is possible ot perform such complicated songs like "Nameless, faceless, neverborn" from Martyr. Also would love to hear your piano version of "Textures" by Cynic PLEASE :)
I caught myself screaming “GOOOOOOO”
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Awesome
Ha! Same!
same here@@enemy_ofthe_sun
Yeah me too 🤘
yeee
DO IT!!
0:07 - "Go!"
You beat me to it.
Proof that metal music is just classic music with electricity
Specifically, Prokofiev.
I worked as local crew for At the Gates. I'm glad I only had to load in guitars and drums.. No pianos haha.
Awesome 👍💪
They were definitely pioneers
Might I suggest a tent at a festival, with afternoon tea and Catherine playing metal tunes in the corner - would be awesome.
I would mosh at this regardless of the piano and the tea
At The Gates's genre is "beautiful death metal". Thanks you.😊
This is beyond insane for me. See and listen to At the gates, my greatest melodic death metal band favorite, covered in such a masterful way and exquisite performance deserves an ovation
Thank you 😊🙏
ATG on piano is… one of the last things I thought I’d see, and it’s AMAZING. You go girl, music is at its best with innovators such as you
Your Heartwork cover led me to this one.. I screamed "Go" like some others have. \m/
The nostalgia and how beautiful this is amazing.
Proof that a good song holds up in many different styles. Beautiful playing.
Pulling out some classic At the Gates.... It just shows the versatility of Metal and the people who write these songs.

Too many artifices distract from achieving this goal❗
Woow, this is the song you wouldnt imagined played on a piano, and yet
This is sheer poetry, without the words
Beautifully played.
Great performance
Incredible
Am I the only one who want to say "GO‼️"?

Great performance, keep up the metal covers. Looking forward to your next video, could you perhaps do a Dissection cover?
YES, that's what I was about to suggest! :D

oh thank you so much - new covers coming soon! Didn't know I was in Metal Hammer haha!
I found out via an article in Louder Sound. Small world. Also, this is epic🤘🤘🤘
@@catherinefearns1328do you transpose these to include all instruments?

Heaviness and delicacy. Beautiful rendition and fantastic piano skills.
This has touched me on an emotional level. I absolutely love this. Thank you for this.
Man, that focus, the eyes moving from the keys to the paper again. wow!
as a fan of all extreme metal for 30 something years this is amazing it got to piano
This is one of the first death metal songs I ever learned! Transfers quite well to piano! Great job!
it's nice to keep this song being kept alive as it was one of my favorites growing up. Keep up the good work!
Never knew that I needed this. But now I do.
Insanely good.
I never would've thought that At The Gates on piano sounds like The Legend Of Zelda battle music, but it does!
Just incredible! One of my favourite songs. :D

this is the coolest cover ive ever heard.. holy f***
I used to try to learn all the 90s death metal hits for piano, but I could never do it one-tenth this good.
I love this rendition...
Oh my god love this I’m going down this rabbit hole
What a fantastic way to approach this classical work!
Wow, really added your own flare with some very tasteful additional flavor, bravo

1:02 when you played that melody from the high octave to low octave right after, and transitioned it with arpeggios with your left hand I almost lost my mind

Thanks for sharing this… make my day!
Wow, that was awesome. I'd love to hear someday Punish my Heaven by Dark Tranquillity played in piano 🖤🤘
I want more!
One of my favourite albums of all time. This is AWESOME
Amazing! Would love to hear your cover of Blinded By Fear as well 🤘
I shared a video years ago on another FB account I'd had. It was of a classical pianist covering Master of Puppets and it was awesome. So is this.
That was probably Gamazda, she is also fantastic. I definitely need to hear more metal piano covers. These are great.
¡Que interesante ejecución!
Loved the version!!! Excelente.

I think my mind was blown while the mind was blowing up.
You are calling out to all the metal heads across the world and capturing our attention, great work and killing it 🤘
OMFG!!!!!! Astonishing!!!
Incredible!! :D
Wonderful!
I played this for my mom and she loved it, I told her what it was and she said "classical music was the original heavy metal"😂
just because it is played on a piano it doesn’t make it classical music . this is a shallow way to think about classical music .people need to educate themselves before talking and acting clever .for real
I didn't call it classical music my mom did, you want me to tell her to educate herself
One need only listen to Mars Bringer of War by Gustav Holst to prove this mom right.
@ethanpierce2609 thank you, my mom will appreciate that😊

awesome!! thanksss
Fucking hell, the dynamics of the song come through so hard. Immense playing and conversion.
Very amazing!
Perfect.
One of Crowbar's more melodic songs like "Lasting Dose" or "Planets collide" would also sound nice converted to piano, I believe.
This is beautiful!
Bravo!! Beautifully done, you've made my day :)
