I am American, and never heard of Nightwish or Floor before 2020, since I heard them been completely hooked. I am 56 this month and love strong vocals, from all genres, but mostly gravitate to hard rock and metal. I am completely blown away by what Floor can do with her voice. Just isn't fair for someone to be that good no matter the song or genre.
Welcome to the Nightwish family, and our Queen Floor. These are one of the most talented and humble beautiful souls. I discovered them in 2018, and was lucky to see them live in 2022 at Lowell, Massachusetts. I have subscribed, and hope that you will continue on this journey called Nightwish. Greetings from Alabama 😎
@@MrsRealistic That "Banshee Sream", jeffmcilroy7081 is refering to has an actual musical term; it's called a 'Glissando', wich means nothing more then the up and down slide of a musical tonal ladder. It's normally used by vocalists as a warm-up for their vocal chords. So you could say, in this track; Floor and Marko were warming up their vocal chords in an actual song. ;)
I'm glad you decided to continue exploring Nightwish music, you have a new subscriber here, so I can follow you in this adventure. I really liked your comments on the subject, and I hope that the negative comments will not stop you. The true fans of Nightwish support the reactors with information and encouragement, because they understand that this contributes to increasing the popularity of the band they love. All the best, to you and your family, from Romania!
Welcome aboard the crazy train! 🤪 😆 Nah, I don't let the mean comments get to me too bad. I try to let it slide off my back. If people want to hurl insults, they must have issues of their own that have nothing to do with me. I wish them God speed 🙏
@@MrsRealistic Most Nightwish fans have nothing against Evanescence, but they're just completely different genres. Personally, I think it's just sad that there are so few female fronted metal bands in the USA and almost no symphonic metal bands, although the "symphonic" part of European symphonic metal is inspired by American orchestral soundtrack music. It seems very strange to me that there is so much intense discussion of feminism in the USA, but at the same time there are so few popular female rock/metal musicians and singers.
@SokolRock yeah, there are a few (of course, Hart and evanescence are the first ones that pop into my head 😆) But just as most music here, it's pushed by record labels and the music industry to suit the bigwigs rather than the artists. I've learned so much about the corruption in the music industry since I started this channel. Independent artists are bucking the system, but many don't get the recognition because they have to do all the work themselves. It's sad.
Floor is an absolute Goddess. Nightwish recently uploaded their song "Tribal" to TH-cam - which shows live clips of their recent tour, including Floor owning the stage while heavily pregnant! 🇬🇧🤘🤘
@@craigbolton5093 i Concur:) often its an Incident, the "but that is 11 Years old, how are they doing nowadays, damn if i say This in the Video, the Fans gonna be upset" no we dont:) and we know that they are like good Red Wine, but it always help to go to the Vinery and take an Look:)
I have to agree with the suggestion to jump ahead to do the official LIVE Tribal song. It's so worth it. With Nightwish, there's so much. It's a candy store, Bakery, filled with goodies. @@MrsRealistic
I know everyone is always focused on Floor, but let’s give Toumas credit, head banging and playing keyboard!!! OMG . Watching Yukka standing up to beat his kit harder… damn!!
Hello I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here. She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have 2 daughters (Freja & Lucy) Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 3 octaves (C3 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she cool singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Nightwish Army South Germany Division Really ? Then take a look at Epica feat. Floor Jansen with “Sancta Terra”. I think you'll have to correct your opinion a bit after that.
I have seen this video so many times. They are very good but not like Nightwish. some stuff that Epica does move me but after 8 years Nightwish still brings tears to my eyes. Floor and Simone were once room mates@@ladydalida6917
I went to the Nightwish concert in LA on their last tour, what an unbelievable experience. I’ve seen all the videos from all their concerts, but let me tell you this. NOTHING can prepare you for the sheer power of Floor’s voice and presence. It is a physical force that you can feel, best way I can describe it is being hit full in the chest with a 500 pound feather pillow swung by a giant. Like a giant WHUMP when she steps on stage and opens her mouth
Nightwish isn't just a band or music. Nightwish is a lifestyle. Always striving to be better than we are. Be smarter than we are. Be more charitable than we are. Forever Nightwish Army
I heard of Nightwish for the first time during covid when I randomly bought ticket to their virtual show in May 2021 .. i was instant fan and bought tickets to Toronto and Montreal shows for May 2022.. Small venue, no pyro or lightboards but intimate settings but band still fantastic without all those trappings ...I decided then and there to head to Munich that December to see full show ,pyro, lightboards etc and actually managed to get into greenroom ( long story how) and actually meet Kai Hahto... such a gentleman .. . From Munich concert I phoned a Finnish FB friend and we decided we would meet up and see NW in Kitee ( original hometown of band ) in June 2023.. . I also managed to see them in Germany ( Gelsenkirchen) a few days before ... So now I have big travel debts travelling to Europe from Ottawa but I am not upset as Nightwish has suspended touring for the near future and I got to see them in club venue, theatre venue, arena venue, outdoor venue and their hometown venue .. So fun to discover this band .
Hey happy to hear of another soul that was in Gelsenkirchen last year. I flew all the way from SOuth Africa with my non metal fan wife to go see NW and Floor. My wife actual cried when Floor sang Decades in the Sun. Yeah amazing show
@@gene6690 I loved that venue for the show . .. Nightwish sounded amazing and even the sailors on the barges passing on the canal behind the venue were rocking out
@@recentisland1513 Yeah the barges were a unique backdrop. I think we fall into the very lucky class. I was so worried Floor was going to succumb to exhaustion due to her pregnancy and the heavy tour schedule. Then she did collapse, i think two shows later. A Very unforgettable experience
The thing that I love the most about Nightwish is that they make every song an event. Some of their songs, like 'The Greatest Show on Earth' feel like a full-length movie, you are absolutely spent by the end...
Hail to you Mrs Realistic, because it is thanks to people reacting on TH-cam like yourself, that the crappy US music industry can no longer hide these gems from the public. Oil will always float on top of water, there's no keeping it under the surface. You have your (lengthy) list, so just enjoy, and we'll join you at every post. Greatz to you and your family! French Division of the Nightwish Army.
Nightwish does it to me too. The tears, and hair standing on end, is a regular event when listening to Nightwish. I'm still amazed how it happens despite how often I listen to their tracks. Nightwish is just that good.
I'm 75 and never watched music reaction videos or music videos of any performers past 1990. I'm a 50's - 80's music guy. I am the perfect judge who is the best female vocalists of bands after 1990. 4.5 years ago I started watching reaction videos. Nightwish 2013 was my first endeavor into anything metal. Floor absolutely floored me. Just left me in awe. Over the last 4.5 years I have diddled around checking out other bands with female lead singers. None of them have ever left me in awe like Floor has. And most of those bands, their music just sucks besides. There is a lot of metal bands out there that if I was a reactor, I would shut the video off halfway through. You have not even got past .2% yet of seeing every aspect of music Floor can provide. Sorry, but that's my honest opinion.
Not sure if you have checked out other female fronted symphonic metal or opera metal bands like Epica, Within Temptation, Xandria or Sirenia; to name a few. Symphonic metal bands are a purely European phenomenon, mainly in Scandinavia, German speaking countries and especially the Netherlands. Pioneers were Therion from Sweden in the early 90ties with the introduction of opera singers.
Nightwish Army Turku Finland here. Thank you, very nice reaction! Just Nightwish doing Nightwish things! And as you have surely noticed, although they are all outstanding , none of them standout. Nightwish is their own genre and no other band comes close to the level they are at! Enjoy the journey!
Great reaction! Floor worked with physiologist in her younger days to learn how to windmill without hurting her neck. You can see she bends at her waist and crouches slightly while supporting her neck and upper body by bracing her hands against her thighs. I concur with others you should watch Yours is an Empty Hope live from Wembley (my favorite but Mexico City is pretty good too). Very heavy and a little surprise in the chorus. Fun fact, they used a section of the song in an episode of The Simpson's so Nightwish has now achieved cultural relevance!
Nightwish Army Vegetable Division North Germany (NWAVDNG) reporting for duty! We will follow you down the rabbit hole! Nice reaction, appreciate your comments on the comments 😊. My next favorite song would be Ever Dream from Wacken. But, regardless of your choice, you will not be disappointed. "The next Nightwish song will always be your favorite"...
The thing with Floor is, she’s fierce and powerful on stage, and at the same time humble and down to earth in person. I’ve had the honor of meeting her in person last year and she radiates love in person. For my taste Nightwish can be a bit much, as I still haven’t found my inner metalhead, but I do enjoy watching people watch them for the first time on TH-cam. My own musical taste is more in line with Floor’s solo work though. Floor simply is amazing in all she does, and as far a videos go, I’ll watch them all!
Nightwish is amazing, or what? Think for just a moment, this recording is almost 11 years old. And getting chills( Floorgasmes) from it?? I would say: It's an experience, it changes everything you have ever known. Greetings from a pretty proud Dutch 60 years old man 🇳🇱🤘🫡
Floor= the most talented, versitile female vocalist the planet has to offer right now. i saw them in DC two years ago and she really is that good live. and the band of Corse..
I'm an American, and discovered this band completely by accident back in the 90's when I saw their second album in a record store, thought the cover looked cool, and took a chance and picked it up. Before long I had them import the first record, and have been buying their albums on release ever since. Really good band, it's great that they're finally getting some international recognition, and a lot of that has to do with reaction channels like yours.
Two years ago I had not heard of Nightwish or Floor. A good friend kept pestering me to give them a listen recommending "The Poet and the Pendulum" live from Wembley 2015. I wasn't keen as I had preconceived ideas about symphonic metal but I relented and was blown away and have been ever since. What a banger Romanticide is having all of the trademark Nightwish transitions and multi layering and of course this masterful live performance... one of so many from this phenomenal band. Thank you for a great reaction 🙏😊👍❤️
@@MrsRealistic Here it is! th-cam.com/users/shortsgmjIHx10g1U?si=tN-3HDqvf1w5Q-Wy. She was on a radio program on Dutch National Radio (NPO 2) to perfrom an promote her first single, Fire, from her solo album. There was always commets from fans that she could sing the phone book and so the host asked her to do it and being the awesome person she agreed. I think it was for a pest control company from the R section of the Dutch Yellow Pages.
This band is so intense...never misses a tone....her singing get my goosebumpses get goosebumpses....I've heard them live once in Hamburg...Fu..ing fantastic.
👍You are so right ,"she is born for this", the whole band is,but,if you go back in Floors history ,you gonna find a real treasure of good music. That said, Nightwish is also a treasure and with a facinating story. Hope you dive in some more Nightwish or Floor.🤘 Greatings from Spain.😉
No worries Mrs. Realistic. Once you hear more from Floor, you will realize even though Amy is an amazing vocalist she is in the minor leagues when it comes to live vocalization. Respect to Amy. I love Amy's early music. You are not alone lovely lady. Floor starts the waterworks in all of us and those goosebumps you referenced is what we lovingly refer to as a "Floorgasm". Get used to it on this journey. Hope to see you again very soon. Subbed to the ride.
Fantastic reaction I must say to you MUCH RESPECT to you as a mom and home schooling your children . I found Nightwish about 8 years ago and its been such a blessing for me to get me away from all the BS and corruption all around us Americans . General Gabriel's list is the one to work from and you seem to like the heavier side so I suggest on his list there song "Yours is an Empty Hope" live in Mexico City or Wembley 2015 next . Hint : Floor Growling
Great reaction thanks, i think Floor is the best female singer I've ever heard and I think the drummer doesn't get enough appreciation he works really hard driving all these fantastic performances.
I've been a fan since their original singer, but lost interest a little with the second one who is also a great vocalist but didn't have the same power, then Floor shows up and I'm hooked again. Unfortunately I never had a chance to get to a show until a few years ago in NYC and it is definitely worth it, if you get the chance don't pass on it.
There's no problem comparing her to Amy Lee. It's hard not to, when you've only heard a couple NW songs. 🙂The bands' music are somewhat similar. Both are excellent! IMO, Floor is just so much more versatile. She can sing ANYTHING perfectly. I've been listening to metal for 50 years (since I was 10). I've been a fan of Nightwish since they started and finally saw them live in 2018. By far, the best concert I've ever attended. Flawless performance! Two hours wasn't long enough! And yes.... the energy is intense! I was physically and mentally exhausted after the show! Enjoy the journey! This band will surprise you every time.
The juxtaposition of her insane range and presence and this bands hard hitting insane talent is incredible Absolutely kickass. Jukka in Beast Mode on the drum kit …Everyone performing at the very highest level….as usual🤘
Love your reactions! Here’s some stuff I read. Floor is a cancer survivor. She had 48 hours to replace their previous singer and prepare for the concert. Backstage one night she saw Hannes van Dahl of Sabaton drinking whiskey and asked for some. Then she asked if he would share a cigar. He’s like “A rock goddess who likes whiskey and cigars? I have to marry her.” And they did it. Got married I mean. But that was later. It’s not generally known what else they did that night. (Use your imagination.) In a later concert she was seven months pregnant and showing. Just think what that kid’s gonna be like.😊❤
@@MrsRealistic you, me, and the rest of the world. Thanx for the reply. I’d put a smiley face here but apparently I’m too stoopid to figure out how to do that in a reply to a reply so just consider this a smiley face.
Every song is my favourite while it's playing! It's so good to see another intelligent reaction channel being adopted by the Nightwish Army - we share your joy at each new discovery - and there's so very much more! Keep it up, Mrs R, Love from Wales.
She's such a beast, and you can't count Marco out as a vocalist by any stretch of the imagination. That harmonized vocal slide at the end is just a giant cherry on top of a great song. Welcome to the Rabbit hole, let us know. When it's Storytime 😃
@@MrsRealistic: By the way, I have a couple of band recommendations for you! First, Canadian power metal and speed metal band Unleash the Archers. Hailing from Vancouver, BC, on Canada's West Coast, Unleash the Archers is an award-winning band led by frontwoman Brittney Slayes. In 2021, Unleash the Archers won the Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) for 2020 Metal Album of the Year, for their album Abyss. My first-time hearing recommendation is the track Abyss, from that album. Next, because you said you react to independent artists, I am going to recommend independent Indian folk metal band Bloodywood. Hailing from New Delhi, India, Bloodywood takes English rap/hip-hop lyrics, harsh vocals, Hindi lyrics, metal, traditional Indian instruments like flute and dhol drums, and mixes it all up to produce some of the most social-minded music I've ever heard. Bloodywood also has put their money where their mouth is, on at least two occasions. First, for the video Jee Veerey (Hindi for "Brave One"), a song about fighting mental illness and depression, Bloodywood paid out-of-pocket for 60 1-on-1 counseling sessions. Because people paid that forward, last I knew, the number of counseling sessions had grown to over 600 -- for anyone in the world to use. Second, for the video Yaad (Hindi for "in memory" or "remember"), Bloodywood again paid money out-of-pocket that they had earned on their tour "Raj Against the Machine," in order to donate a van to an animal hospital charity, because the old van the charity had that they had used as an animal ambulance broke down. My first time recommendation is Jee Veerey, Endurant (a song about fighting bullying), or Aaj (Hindi for "today"). Aaj is a song about not letting the past hold you back, and is one of the most positive and uplifting metal anthems I've ever heard. Lastly, when they were asked why they were still independent, Karan from Bloodywood said that their Patreons online were their supporters and label. So check out both of these amazing bands! You will not regret it if you do, I guarantee it.
Best symphonic metal band ever Best duo ever ( Floor Marko ) Best female vocalist of our times.............wich you will discover during your journey ( Nightwish songs / Floor's previous bands and personnal stuff ) Hi from France New subscriver already 🇫🇷😁😁🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Delighted you did Romanticide as your second reaction. You've got a hint of Marko singing today, but really you'll end up shocked just how good he is... his higher range is incredible!! That really high note from Floor was a D6 by the way 😊
Hi ! I´m glad you continued on the Nightwish path, and I liked your comments. Yes it´s emotional to watch these with Floor on stage. There is a huge mount of NW music to listen to. I hope we´ll soon you see here again. You have also a new subscriber here. Greets from Finland. Take care.
Awesome first time reaction. Floor's vocals are just out of this world. When you go through her catalog of performances, it just intensifies. Honestly though, I am led to believe she has the best female voice on earth, as Floor sings spot on perfect pitch LIVE. This you don't find anyone can do throughout so many years, she's never once sang off pitch in the slightest. Anyway, lobe that you're a Home Schooling Mama. Especially in today's education strange curriculum being taught. Thanks again for the reaction. Look forward to more.
Thanks! I appreciate that! Yeah I'm not cool with the bs they're trying to push on kids today. Our kids have never been to public school and never will be!
I was first introduced to Nightwish when I went to their 2015 Wembley Arena concert. That is also here on TH-cam and is recorded just as well as Wacken. I suppose some bands just make it easy for the engineers. -and just FYI - I'm 74, and hooked.

You I just gonna love this Nightwish journey, there's just no-one like them, from Symphonic Metal to Power Metal to Folk Metal, straight Folk, a full Symphonic CD, the most beautiful ballads, dabblings with jazz, full operatic vocals to growls, the most intelligent and deep lyrics dealing with such diverse topics as personal anguish and pain to Internet trolls, to religion, to our enslavement by technology, to the birth of the universe and the coming of life. All of this is brought to us by the incredible compositions othe Metal Mozart, keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen - can't wait for your next reaction 🤘🤘🤘 P.S. your haven't even met 6th member Troy Donockley yet, who sings, plays guitar, mandolin, bazooka, various whistles and in particular the amazing Uilleann pipes, which is the Irish bagpipe
Hello, beautiful reaction, I'm glad that you joined in listening to Nightwish again, it's a beautiful band, family, they are also fans. The Nightwish army learns from them how to respect each other, that their fans are not only fans, they are also family and everyone likes each other they respect you like family from all over the world, greetings from Poland
Emppu's tone is SO GOOD on this track. I have a massive amount of respect for Emppu, he's a world-class guitarist but he goes out of his way to not be too show-offy. He always serves the music first, like every member of this fantastic band.
Welcome! Nightwish army, Arkansas div. here. You're right, the big E is a no no, not EVEN in the same league! It is Vah-ken. It's in Germany. Watch hellfest 2022 for an updated look at the band, 82.000 here this night. All songs are killer! The keyboardist, Tuomas writes everything, and to see him headband just as hard as floor is awesome!
Nightwish Army, Jacksonville Fl. Division here. It is so nice to get a reactor like yourself. You did an excellent job. In my opinion, you would be best served by following General Gabriel Bardac's guidance. He will lead you to the best quality videos. With very rare exception(Shoemaker) their live videos are the way to go. Sometimes you should get a little understanding of the context of their performance(Poet and the Pendulum, The Greatest Show On Earth). You will need the lyrics, to get the very deep and personal meanings. Tuomas , the keyboard player and composer of virtually all of their music, is known as The Metal Mozart for good reason. Welcome aboard and I know you will enjoy the ride.
Hello, thank you for a very nice reaction to my favourite band.1st. i listened to Floor at the Dutch televionshow "beste zangers) Floor was singing the phantom of the opera with Henk Poort ,AMAZING!!! I hope you will react to that one sometime. Than i tried Nightwish with Floor. It really was a "WTF" is happening to me moment!! I had tears in my eyes i had goosebumps, known as a Floorgasm 😂😂! Nightwish and Floor Jansen coming together, it had to happen ! I can say that this amazing group of people gave me back music. many years ago i stopped listening to radiostations playing what i call " the quick moneymakers" every hour on the hour.i got sick of it! Still not listening to radiostations. Their is so much to discover for you! We are going to follow your journey down this amazing rabbit hole, i subscribed, see at the next one, bye!!
One of my favorite Nightwish song and not least the Jukka (drummer). He is so good and stylish when playing 🤘🥁 and always plaesure to see him on drums. I was at Nightwish live concert last June here in Finland, Vaasa city. I tell you if you ever have a chance seeing them live go!! Nightwish music is written and composed by our metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards). He is our national treasure. I am so lucky to live this same era as he is and witnessing this beautiful music. I absolutely go to their next live concert when they start gigs. But first I am waiting for their 10th album this year. I have all Nightwish albums since 1996 🤘

Thanks so much! That's why we keep our children out of the public school system, which is also corrupted by money. We are raising them to question things that don't seem right and to be free thinkers. They're not stuck in a building for 8 hours a day being forced to study things they'll never use... by people we don't know and with children who we probably don't want them hanging out with! We've taken our own negative experiences from school, not wanting them to go through what we did. I hope it serves them well as they grow older. I guess we'll know in about 15 years or so. 😅
you could try : After Forever with "Dreamflight"(Floor's 1st band , and Revamp with "Disdain"(her 2nd band) and ofcourse Eica with "Terra Sancta"with Floor as guestsinger... and then please Ayreon
such a versatile singer she is and she has such beautiful voice and for this kind of music and markco bass tone working together with jukkas drum rapid drum beat makes that sound like a pnuematic jackhammer that road workers might use almost sounds like a blacksmith hammer when it strikes the anvil and the awesome locked in with one another harmonizing that floor and markco were doing towards the end that really spectacular dissonance such high pitch sounded really good adds the really cool light show experience they can do
you still have a long way to go, both, Nightwish, and her previous bands, After Forever, Revamp, her performance in the Best Singers 2019 and her solo performances. SO, you're still busy for a while. And what is exceptional, you don't get tired of it because her repertoire is so varied.🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶
I found Nightwish about a year ago. I grew up in the US and, like you said, the music industry sucks. I am anticipating their next tour because I WILL see them live. As I am 76 I am doing all I can to meet that goal. Follow Gabriel's list as it will do you well.
Nice reaction! Glad you enjoy Nightwish. Little story about how they started working with Pip Williams when they made the Once album. Ghost Love Score and Romanticide can be found on the album. Pip Williams played a big role on all of Nightwish's (and also Tuomas' solo album) albums 2004-2020. Here's a clip from their book and timeline is year 2003-04: ---------------------- From the very start, Tuomas had a strong feeling that Once had to have an orchestra, come what ever may. After finishing the recording of backing tracks, the process continued in London with the legendary producer Pip Williams at the helm. Known for his work for the likes Status Quo and Uriah Heep, Williams was responsible for the orchestrations on the album. When the Nightwish guys heard what orchestra they would be working with, their jaws hit the floor. "As Ewo and I traveled to London at the end of November to meet Pip Williams, we had no clue about the orchestra he'd gotten for us", Tuomas says. "The only thing we knew was that Williams himself would do the arrangements and that through his connections, he would hook us up with an orchestra and a choir. The first time we visited Phoenix Sound Studio, Rick Wakeman (the keyboard player of the legendary progressive rock band Yes) opened the door for us. That's when we realized we're onto something big. As we were having coffee in the studio, Pip dropped the bomb: the orchestra in question had played on The Lord of the Rings, as well as on many other Hollywood soundtracks - all recorded in this studio!" It seems that Pip Williams wanted only the best for a band he held in great respect. "I have followed the band for some time, and it's been interesting to see how they have developed. Of course Rock bands like Deep Purple have previously used orchestras, but I really feel that Nightwish have combined the best of both worlds most successfully. They are a classic Metal band with strong classical and movie-score influences in their music." "It was important for me that it would not be just about over-dubbing a few orchestral parts on top of a Rock band", Williams continues. "Tuomas' compositions were brilliant also in the sense that choir and orchestra could be added naturally, so that they don't sound pretentious or contrived. This is of utmost importance. The songs must be structured so as to allow the orchestra enough space. In the end, the results were quite emotive. Also, let us not forget just how good all the musicians in Nightwish are. They are perfectly sympathetic to Tuomas' vision. And Tarja's (1st lead singer) wonderful voice has done the songs great justice." Williams knew his orchestra well. "I have worked with most of the players on different sessions for many years. Gavin Wright is a sensitive and authoritative orchestra leader, and together with Isobel Griffiths, the orchestral contractor, we were able to secure just the right musicians for each song. Anthony Pleeth, who has the lead cellist and played solo cello on 'Kuolema tekee taiteilijan', is one such example. These guys have done many, many big movie scores, as have the wonderful Metro Voices choir, and I thought this project required the kind of grandiose performance one would find on movie soundtracks by, say, Howard Shore." Tuomas could not have been more excited about the situation. "Using the orchestra was an earthshaking experience. I only had to lie on the studio couch for two days, listening to these amazingly talented people. During the first takes, someone said into the mike, 'Are these guys really serious?'. When we began 'Ghost Love Score', a positive kind of bewilderment took over the orchestra. That, as well as 'Dark Chest of Wonders', were the first ones we recorded." Williams was equally happy with his orchestra. "These musicians are such brilliant sight readers that it wasn't necessary to do more than a couple of rehearsals. Then we'd have a take or two of each song. It all went very smoothly. After the takes, I would check that Tuomas was happy, and then we would move on. If there was anything he wanted changed, it would be dealt with in a very short time. I must say, however, that we had prepared very well - I had been constantly on the phone with Tuomas when I was writing the arrangements. Yes, I ended up making a huge phone bill! But the groundwork paid off, as only a few small alterations were necessary." Tuomas and Pip Williams immediately hit it off on a personal level. "Tuomas is sensitive, caring, very observant - he's what the English call a musical sponge", Williams commends. "It means he is always willing to try new ideas and absorbs the musical influences around him like a sponge. Tuomas always wants to learn more about music, its origins and sound. He has very firm ideas of what he is trying to achieve, but he also leaves space for those working with him to express themselves. He is humble, appreciative and approachable, one of the most talented musicians or composers I have ever worked with. I really think he would make an original and effective movie score composer, and I definetely want to collaborate with Tuomas again in the future - in fact, we're already talking about the next venture. I would also love to collaborate with him on a movie score at some point." "Many times the players would come into the control room afterwards to listen to the takes, and according to Pip, that's something that doesn't happen very often," Tuomas says. "They're usually not that interested - they just do their job and leave, but now they actually listened to the songs. At the end of the last day, as I went down to thank the orchestra, they started applauding, standing up from their seats. It was one of those great moments in life." According to Williams, a Pop or Rock artist rarely receives a standing ovation. "The musicians respected the quality of the songs and the challenge of playing such intricate and well structured music. You must remember that these guys also do simple pop sessions, songs that are very easy to play. With Nightwish, they were able to play stuff that was often as demanding as many of the classical pieces they had trained on. This was so much more than just simple 3-chord songs in 4/4 time. And let's not forget that they also had great respect for people that were prepared to take such a huge musical and financial risk, all for the sake of art! Remember, these were very expensive sessions. I'm very satisfied with my own reward for the arrangements, too." "There is alwas a degree of compromise when mixing a Metal band with a large orchestra, as it's such a huge sound, but all in all, I'm really pleased with the end result", Pip reflects. "The main thing is that we have established a great identity with Nightwish and the orchestra, and our cooperation could be even better in the future. Seriously, Once is one of the most enjoyable projects in my career, and I've done this for 35 years!"
Nightwish Army South Germany Division here Hello Mrs. Realistic Thank you for this great reaction to this partial excerpt from a legendary concert. There is much more waiting for you to hear and see. And that brings me to two of Nightwish's masterpieces that you'll get to sooner or later. “The Greatest Show on Earth” and “The Poet and the Pendulum.” There are two versions of "TGSoE", the one from London and the one from Tampere. They are different in the first part of the work, which one you choose is entirely up to you. But these works have one thing in common: you should definitely have the lyrics displayed. In both works, parts of the lyrics are very quiet and are covered by the music, making them difficult to understand. This is particularly true of the lyric parts in "TGSoE", which are recorded by Richard Dawkins. The second important thing is: Before you deal with "The Poet an the Pendulum", you should first familiarize yourself with the background of this work. It would be very important to know this in order to correctly understand and classify the musical work. And please show the lyrics here too, as some of them are very quiet. By the way, two things should be said: Floor is married to Sabaton's drummer, Hannes van Dahl. This opens the window to Sabaton. “No bullets fly” deserves a lot of mention here. The second would be Epica feat. Floor Jansen with "Sancta Terra", which opens another window, the one to Epica. Here “Consign to Oblivion” and “Beyond the matrix” would be your choices. Welcome to the wonderful world of symphonic metal greetings from Germany The lady
Great reaction! I’m from Massachusetts and doing my best to spread some Nightwish awareness, but you’re right about how little known they are around here. Keep reacting, the NW Army will support you!
At our first Nightwish show in Dusseldorf Dec 2022, my wife and I were the last to leave the stadium, it was a very special show, along with Beast in Black another group you should have a listen to, they are a 1980s style power metal band from Finland with a Greek lead singer Yannis Papadopoulos who has a great vocal range too and did a cover of Ghost Love Score too which is on youtube as well. Thanks for the reaction to Nightwish.
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘 well done What a great intro you have given, I also received a lot of responses now from Nightwish but also from Floor Jansen individually such as the Beste Zangers 2019, concert in Amsterdam and Her covers and her two earlier bands, After Forever and Revamp!? All can be found on TH-cam!!
Welcome back to Nighrwish ❤ Well don't know what else to say that has not already been said here. The Nightwish army is pretty quick commenting and we will follow all of your journey. Saw them in Stockholm last spring with a highly pregnant Floor , so glad I had the opportunity cos it was stunning. Floor and her boys seemed happy with us and the noice our relatively small audience managed. Your journey has barely started and welcome again ❤

I think she got it ALL! Looks, voice, and from what I hear from people, a beautiful soul to go along with it!
Greetings from Alabama 😎
better late than never
If you liked Floor check out Tarja
@@Ponderthis79 To be honest, I've never been a fan of Tarja.
That banshee scream at the end still amazes me even after hearing it 100 times
Oh man, that was UNREAL!
@@MrsRealistic If you think that's Banshee try Slaying the Dreamer from Buenos Aires 2018.
So you could say, in this track; Floor and Marko were warming up their vocal chords in an actual song. ;)
Not to mention Marko matching her!!! holy crap
Finding Nightwish saved my life- Seeing them live changed it.
Amazing! 👏
You took my words ! Just so !
Ditto. Greatest Show on Earth did it for me.
totally agree , feeling lousy but seeing them was the best gig iv'e ever been to.made my day and year
I'm glad you decided to continue exploring Nightwish music, you have a new subscriber here, so I can follow you in this adventure. I really liked your comments on the subject, and I hope that the negative comments will not stop you. Hi general Gabriel love and respect from the UK 👍👍🌟😀😀 the amazing nightwish 👍🔥.

Hello
I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here.
She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have 2 daughters (Freja & Lucy)
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 3 octaves (C3 to F6).
Thank you so much! All of this info is great!😊
Amy Lee is very good too. Nightwish is beyond great. They are the best at what they do. No one else comes close.

Really ?
A very vivid & excellent comment! 👍
I can imagine it! The visual I got just from your description was PERFECT! 🙌
Glad you enjoyed it as much as my wife and I did. Well worth the trip from Austin.
👍"being hit full in the chest with a 500 pound feather pillow swung by a giant"😂👌 It's TRUE.😆😉🤘
@fizzyridertoo You're in Austin? We are too! 👋
Lucky you!! I didn't discover them until early 2023, so I missed their 2022 Toronto concert at History (just 5km away from my apt.). :-(
You are one lucky son of a gun!! I'm Canadian as well, but I live in Texas. Cheers from a fellow "Canuck" 🍻😊

Hey Mrs Realistic. The long road ahead is paved with amazing Floorgasms 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yes it is! I love all of the monikers and names given to her and this band!
Floor joining Nightwish was just the best match ever. I like Tarja to but Floor is just next level.
Thank you kindly! That means a lot! 😊🙏
Wow, they bring tears to your eyes, that means I'm not the only one with that experience, makes me feel less insecure. ;-)
Nightwish does it to me too. The tears, and hair standing on end, is a regular event when listening to Nightwish. I'm still amazed how it happens despite how often I listen to their tracks. Nightwish is just that good.
😆 I'm glad I'm not alone!
Nope, I'm only 2 songs in...I have a LONG way to go! 😄
As good as Floor was in 2013, I believe she’s even better now.

Well I certainly wasn't head banging the right way in my teens! 😅
Actually the song on The Simpsons was ”Yours is an empty hope”. 😊

Even tho I've only seen 2 videos, I got that aura from her. She seems amazing!
Nightwish is amazing, or what?
Think for just a moment, this recording is almost 11 years old. And getting chills( Floorgasmes) from it?? I would say: It's an experience, it changes everything you have ever known.

Floors voice just touch your soul and grab your heart ❤
Floor= the most talented, versitile female vocalist the planet has to offer right now. i saw them in DC two years ago and she really is that good live. and the band of Corse..
I'm an American, and discovered this band completely by accident back in the 90's when I saw their second album in a record store, thought the cover looked cool, and took a chance and picked it up. Before long I had them import the first record, and have been buying their albums on release ever since. Really good band, it's great that they're finally getting some international recognition, and a lot of that has to do with reaction channels like yours.
They have plenty of international recognition - throughout Europe, South East Asia, Australasia, Central & South America. Notice anything ?
Thankfully there ARE some pros to the internet! 😄😉

Every song on their setlist for this concert is a banger in my eyes
Great reaction thanks, i think Floor is the best female singer I've ever heard and I think the drummer doesn't get enough appreciation he works really hard driving all these fantastic performances.
He's amazing. Too bad he's not with them anymore.
Thank you! I appreciate that! 🙏

The juxtaposition of her insane range and presence and this bands hard hitting insane talent is incredible
Absolutely kickass.
Just think what that kid’s gonna be like.😊❤
Their kids will probably be rock prodigies! I had read about her cancer. I'm so glad she's healthy now!

Best. Banshee. Wail.

Or - glisando if you want to be technical
Hmm, maybe a great 2nd to Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean. What do you think? Both clearly amazing

Awesome first time reaction. Floor's vocals are just out of this world. When you go through her catalog of performances, it just intensifies. Honestly though, I am led to believe she has the best female voice on earth, as Floor sings spot on perfect pitch LIVE. Looking forward to enjoying the Nightwish journey with you. Great reaction. 👍
Thank you!! 😁
Always here for Nightwish! Great reaction!!! Check out Ghost River for more of Marco and Floor. Awesome!
Thank you! Will do!😁
"That brought tears to my eyes". Welcome to the club 😀
All of this is brought to us by the incredible compositions othe Metal Mozart, keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen - can't wait for your next reaction 🤘🤘🤘
P.S. your haven't even met 6th member Troy Donockley yet, who sings, plays guitar, mandolin, bazooka, various whistles and in particular the amazing Uilleann pipes, which is the Irish bagpipe
One of the best nightwish reactions 👍
Why thank you! 😊
Yup, a tear always comes to my eye. Wait until to get to the others!
Emppu's tone is SO GOOD on this track. I have a massive amount of respect for Emppu, he's a world-class guitarist but he goes out of his way to not be too show-offy. He always serves the music first, like every member of this fantastic band.
I agree 100%!
Floor is a real Goddess😍🥰 greatings from Bavaria😉
Hold your tears! They'll soon fall like waterfalls! You've just scratched the surface! Greetings from Greece
Thank you! I know I'm in for a great ride!
Thanks so much! I've subscribed to his channel so I can follow along with the right videos! Cheers 🍻 from Texas
Nightwish are the Best on this Planet. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you from Texas! 😁
Yup, canned, manufactured music on the radio... yuck!

Youre home schooled with your children ❤...better ....and youre awareness is mindblowing ...as you know bout the corruption ..( education , finance demon system and all of that ...your amazing ...and you Love Nightwish 💜🕊🐬💥🔥 sending you Love from and light from Holland 🌷..and oyeah....this World Is In Great Awakening....and You 🦁👽🦋💎..know It 🔥
Thanks so much!
Yes, I've got long lists for quite a few artists😅 I've got enough material to keep me busy for years 😂
Floor is not rotating her head but is doing a half turn and is supporting/steadying with her hands on her upper legs.
That's a much better way to do it than how I did in my teens. 😅
They're simply amazing. Simply amazing.
Carry on madam, another 150 song to go with Nightwish and Floor's solo stuff. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Only? 😉🤣
thank you for your lovely reaction. greetings from the Nightwish Army in the Netherlands...we follow
wonderful reaction, thanks from Colorado
I found Nightwish about a year ago. I grew up in the US and, like you said, the music industry sucks. I am anticipating their next tour because I WILL see them live. As I am 76 I am doing all I can to meet that goal. Follow Gabriel's list as it will do you well.
Thanks so much! I see a lot of people commenting who are about your age who love this band! I wonder if my 75 year old father in law would digg it? 😉😁
@@MrsRealistic He probably would because of the clean sound and the symphonic part.
@@kennethosiecki9258 He only really listens to old county, so it might be a shock to his system 🤣
Here's a clip from their book and timeline is year 2003-04:
----------------------
From the very start, Tuomas had a strong feeling that Once had to have an orchestra, come what ever may.
As we were having coffee in the studio, Pip dropped the bomb: the orchestra in question had played on The Lord of the Rings, as well as on many other Hollywood soundtracks - all recorded in this studio!"
It seems that Pip Williams wanted only the best for a band he held in great respect. "I have followed the band for some time, and it's been interesting to see how they have developed. Of course Rock bands like Deep Purple have previously used orchestras, but I really feel that Nightwish have combined the best of both worlds most successfully. They are a classic Metal band with strong classical and movie-score influences in their music."
"It was important for me that it would not be just about over-dubbing a few orchestral parts on top of a Rock band", Williams continues. And Tarja's (1st lead singer) wonderful voice has done the songs great justice."
Williams knew his orchestra well. These guys have done many, many big movie scores, as have the wonderful Metro Voices choir, and I thought this project required the kind of grandiose performance one would find on movie soundtracks by, say, Howard Shore."
Tuomas could not have been more excited about the situation. That, as well as 'Dark Chest of Wonders', were the first ones we recorded."
Williams was equally happy with his orchestra. But the groundwork paid off, as only a few small alterations were necessary."
Tuomas and Pip Williams immediately hit it off on a personal level. I would also love to collaborate with him on a movie score at some point."
"Many times the players would come into the control room afterwards to listen to the takes, and according to Pip, that's something that doesn't happen very often," Tuomas says. "They're usually not that interested - they just do their job and leave, but now they actually listened to the songs. At the end of the last day, as I went down to thank the orchestra, they started applauding, standing up from their seats. It was one of those great moments in life."
According to Williams, a Pop or Rock artist rarely receives a standing ovation. I'm very satisfied with my own reward for the arrangements, too."
"There is alwas a degree of compromise when mixing a Metal band with a large orchestra, as it's such a huge sound, but all in all, I'm really pleased with the end result", Pip reflects. "The main thing is that we have established a great identity with Nightwish and the orchestra, and our cooperation could be even better in the future. Seriously, Once is one of the most enjoyable projects in my career, and I've done this for 35 years!"
That's amazing! Thank you! 😁 🙌
Nightwish Army South Germany Division here
Hello Mrs. Realistic
Thank you for this great reaction to this partial excerpt from a legendary concert.
There is much more waiting for you to hear and see. And that brings me to two of Nightwish's masterpieces that you'll get to sooner or later.
“The Greatest Show on Earth” and “The Poet and the Pendulum.”
There are two versions of "TGSoE", the one from London and the one from Tampere.
By the way, two things should be said:
Floor is married to Sabaton's drummer, Hannes van Dahl.
Welcome to the wonderful world of symphonic metal
greetings from Germany
The lady
Great reaction! I’m from Massachusetts and doing my best to spread some Nightwish awareness, but you’re right about how little known they are around here. Keep reacting, the NW Army will support you!
Превет из России, Floor❤❤❤
I cry every time I hear Floor.
😇
I'm glad I'm not alone! 😆👍
Thank you kindly! 😊
Welcome back to Nighrwish ❤
Well don't know what else to say that has not already been said here.
